Mens razors are awesome! I discovered that extreme couponing back in the day, and never looked back. Much closer shave. As far as the pink tax, combine that with women generally make LESS money than men, or can, and it's a double whammy. Never thought of that before.
I don't roll up my bill for charities because the company takes credit for donating in the commercials and never thanks their customers. No Taxation without Representation!
Saves is a interesting word. The stories of Jesus aren’t even written by people alive at the same time as the guy. He didn’t save anybody, he didn’t feed the world if half a stick of butter and he didn’t spit into someone’s eyes to cure their blindness he was just a dude
@@Elliot882 yes the accounts were written by eye witnesses so by definition they were written by people alive during the time of Jesus. And since you believe Jesus was a real person as you stated, then you are revealing that you do in fact give credit to the gospels truth, at least in part.
The pink tax is a term thats been around for some time. It definitely applies even in chain stores like Target and Gap starting with clothes for kids. I pay 2 times as much on outfits for my niece as I do for my nephews. As for the differences in products, I'm allergic to scented products so I always have to buy fragrance free or unscented products. Those should be cheaper because they require fewer ingredients but they always cost more.
That's because women have more brand loyalty and other anti-competitive consumption behaviors. Men and women are different so of course companies market to them differently, but like with affirmative action and informal discrimination against men in other areas, women want special concessions. And that's exactly what is demanded
As far as the dry cleaning or hair cuts go, I think it would be better if they listed price by service rather than gender (eg. cut for long hair vs short or dry cleaning certain materials costs more rather than who it belongs to)
I agree. I don't just get a haircut. I get a wash, cut, and style that takes much longer than my boys' haircuts. They only get the cut and maybe the styling, which doesn't take nearly the time of my styling).
Insurance companies used to [ not sure if they still do ] have higher rates for unmarried women of a certain age. Guess they felt if we were not married at a certain point in life we took up drinking, and driving. Hairdressers charge way more than barbers, women often earn less than men even in today's economy, deodorant is usually more expensive for women, even home care hair dye kits cost more than the men's products.
I understand the tipping thing. But we have a Firehouse subs in our area and they quarterly post where all the money goes locally to help First Responders so I always give there! It helps knowing it is going somewhere in our community!
😂😂 just got to the razor part of the conversation 😂 Rachel, your logic totally makes sense. I just haven’t seen much of a difference between men’s and women’s razors.
A lot of product/service differences get overlooked when making comparisons. Men might be more likely to abandon products/services based on price. Joint money don’t care.
The biggest reason I started switching over to low waste/reusable alternatives is because I was tired of paying for trash (i.e. one use items then tossed). Plus in addition to the items both sexes use us females have to get female hygiene items. Safety razor, bar soap, bar shampoo, reusable pads, buying discounted or used clothes. All these are great low waste alternatives that have lowered my personal care expenses. Love my safety razor: new razor + 8yr supply of blades = $30, vs $30/year on replaceable heads (if we replace them when they go dull vs using till they don't cut any more, which I was guilty of)
It totally makes sense now when you go to the store and you see more stuff for girls than boys there is money to be made when it comes to us women and girls seem to be getting trained to be more materialistic maybe its a wild conspiracy of mine but i do feel like we are in a sense manipulated more than we like to admit to be that whole "women be shoppin" cliche
You can’t trust that the stat that website gives is correct. Activists that talk about this disingenuously say that women make 77 cents on the dollar compared to men without the context that at because women generally choose to do lower paying jobs, work less overtime etc. I do recognize however that it’s not the same thing as saying products for women are more expensive. That’s clearly true, but to what extent?
They're also just less competend and concessions to women like affirmative action and informal discrimination against men just exacerbate the gap as only the more competent men remain. But even with equal standards for a job it's still basically impossible to have the same competence distribution for every group. If you choose an arbitrarily high standard, the groups who are less competent on average would still be clustered closer to that floor
I agree with George’s point- the pink tax is highly unfair when it comes to period products. There is no “mens version” of feminine hygiene products and they’re necessities for women not luxuries
@@DallasJack1 what do you mean “ok and?” The topic of the episode is the pink tax so it obviously makes perfect sense for people to comment their opinion on it

I find the pink tax complaint to be extremely childish. People claim they want to be responsible for their own actions, however when the responsibility aspect actually kicks in they complain. You have options and you choose based off of your values. If you value looks over quality or price that is on you and not the company.
Baby tax is a thing too. The big one I found was Baby/Infant Tylenol and Children's Tylenol are the same. The ingredients and amounts are the same, but Baby's is $10.53 for two fl. oz. while Children's is $6.57 for 4 fl. oz. It is crazy. Companies will charge more to slap "Baby" or "Infant" on a product.
There are premiums in most areas to be paid, some by women, some by men, some by singles, some by married couples, some by families and some by Childless couples. All businesses identify their target consumer and hike prices on products for those demographics whilst offering alternative products which sell less at lesser prices - that's basic business operations. Premiums also come along seasonally, for example swimming costumes are more expensive on summer, coats and jumpers are more expensive in the winter. Premiums especially exist for those who are obese and need larger clothes, or those who are very tall, have very small or big feet! This "pink tax" shtick is largely political x
1. deodorants are likely not the same: need to check the sizes... the dove deodorants tend to be a bit smaller while all-spice is fuller sized. 2. y'all spend waaaay too much on your hair cuts. I get mine cut every year at $30, and my two boys (with quickly growing hair) get theirs at $20-25 each.
It doesn’t cost me more to be a woman, because my husband of 40 years retired and bought a Harley 😂 and he did pay cash, however, a good portion of his money goes to the Harley and Harley products. No fear though we are debt free except our home and he is always within budget - just really enjoys his retirement Harley. 😂😂😂
I wish I could drink at work. Nurse life. Lol. But on date line years ago they sent a man and then a woman in to the garage and YES they charged the woman more !! Same job !

interesting episode! i didn't know about 'pink tax' as a phrase, but i was aware that women's products cost a bit more. honestly i think much of it is justified, the price usually reflects the extra cost to the producer. like for razors, a man's razor has a lot less to do than a woman's. like the difference of 1 square foot of shaving vs 16 yards worth of shaving, so the material might have to be stronger / thicker or something. if that's not the case, then a woman can just choose to buy a man's razor, and claim it's for their husband if it's embarassing. i mean, a REAL MAN can buy tampons for his SO, so why not?
Compare womens clothing to men's. Men pay waaaaay more for clothes of the same quality as women get. Same with dress shoes.
