This Week’s Happy Hour Special: Spicy Pineapple Ginger Mocktail
Recipe by Ramona Cruz-Peters at FabEveryday
    Ingredients:
    • Ice, for shaker and for glass
    • 3 ounces pineapple juice, plus more for rimming
    • 1 ounce agave nectar
    • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
    • Ginger beer, chilled (for top off)
    • Tajin seasoning, for rimming
    • Small pineapple wedge, for garnish (optional)
    • Whole Thai chili pepper or thinly sliced jalapeno, for garnish (optional)
    Instructions:
Add 3 ounces pineapple juice, agave nectar, and chili powder to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Cover and shake until the ingredients are well mixed and chilled.
Place additional pineapple juice on a small saucer or plate. Place the Tajin seasoning on a separate small plate. Dip the rim of a rocks glass in the pineapple juice, followed by the Tajin to coat the rim.
Pour ice into the glass, then pour the pineapple mixture over the ice. Top off with ginger beer.
If desired, garnish with a small wedge of pineapple and a chili pepper (or a few slices of jalapeno).
Pull up a chair to the happy hour you wish your friends were having. Mix two money experts with some hot takes and a splash of nostalgia, and you get Rachel Cruze and George Kamel talking unfiltered about what’s going on in the world, pop culture, and how to afford a life you love.

I'm not sure how George has time to do it all. His RUclips Show, Smart Money Happy Hour, The Ramsey Show, Founding member of the Winston Fan Club for Life, and still manages to head coach for the Miami Dolphins on the weekend. Good Luck in the playoffs George!

This episode had my 10 year old daughter in the back seat intrigued and she actually knew all the top items. A great way to bond while also explaining the cost associated with all items. She asked if we could listen to this more often. Thank you for helping us spend quality time constructively on the way home from school.❤

I got a kick & a laugh out of this segment. Back when I was 15, my favorite store was K-mart, wore Avon Perfumes, listened to Neil Diamond, the Carpenters & Foghat, favorite treat was homemade Pop Corn & .10 cent Ice Cream cones. I bought my own school clothes and paid for my activities by Babysitting, cleaned an older lady's home, raked her leaves & shoved her snow. Life was good. Now I have Grandchildren that age.

Yeah the kids these days love all those expensive designer brands. I'll watch their "What I got for my birthday/Christmas" videos and am shocked. One odd thing that I don't understand is how they like things like Pandora jewelry. I'm talking those tacky bracelets with the charms. Even as a teen (15 years ago), I was like, uhhh who would want this?

I’m pretty close in age with Rachel and George but I feel they they grew up way more affluent than me. I could never afford half the things that they’re talking about. I got a $4 a week allowance until I got a job at 16 at Sonic Drive-In and then I was frantically saving up money to move out. I lived in a toxic household and it motivated me to save up $8,000 by my 18th birthday. I didn’t live a “normal” teenage life.

I feel the same way. I seemingly remember those Rainbow flip flops being between $90-100. I would have second hand shoes I got for free or paid like $5 for and Walmart special jeans. $90 for shoes/flip flops and $80 jeans was rich people stuff in my eyes lol

Rachel got that big money energy with those big macs. Here's a tip. McDonald's app frequently has buy one, get one for $0.25 on big mac, quarter pounder, and 10 piece nugs. So two of those for $5. Fries and drinks are where you lose money, so I skip those unless I'm feeling extra bougie that day. for a single guy who lives alone, it's a great way to have an easy, tasty, filling meal for cheap with about 50g protein. Yes, there are cheaper things I could eat, but those require effort, and adding meat to the equation quickly makes it tough to get a meal under $5. Taco Bell used to be my go-to for cheap protein but now I feel like I can't get full there for less than $10.

I'm legit interested in hearing more about Rachel's take on her kids not using cash as teens. I feel like this somewhat flies in the face of previous teaching.. The whole emotional/psychological effect of physically trading cash for a purchase. If you don't start with cash, would you introduce cash at some point? At what age? Again, I'm not trolling, I'm legitimately interested. I have 3 kids ranging from 6-11. We use cash and they have jars. Thinking about starting a bank account for my oldest, but he doesn't spend his money too much and never asks to buy something online, so I'm not sure if I should push that. Ok I'm done. Sorry for the lengthy comment!

I was a kid before the tax free college savings plan, so the college fund my parents started for me was just a savings account. My parents let me put my Christmas & birthday checks or saved up allowance in there and I kept a little ledger of what was "my" money and what was college fund. Any interest went to the fund. I think I learned something from that. Then again, regular savings accounts earned what CDs earn now.

I've been listening on my phone for a while. Sitting here working on budgets for my businesses for my FY2024 and have the same thought every single time. There is something missing from your intro. You sort of have it in the background. The thought would be to, after the glass clink, adding in a indiscript party background noise. With a cheer at first and gradually toned out with the rest of the music. I think it would put it over the top. I think about it literally everytime I watch one of your episodes. Don't have to do it. But would be cool!

I’m so glad I didn’t follow anyone or trends. I listened to my metal music and did my own thing!
