As a man I buy womens shampoo sometimes because they smell nice. There's no requirement to buy products marketed for your gender, if they are indeed the same product
Sometimes, it's not a price difference but a size difference so it's not as obvious. I was buying deodorant and saw that both men's and women's deodorant was the same price, but if you looked closer, the women's was 5g less than the men's.
Yes, the women's deodorant has more " essential oils " and expensive ingredients for skin softening and herbal essence overall, so it does cost more, those are the most expensive ingredients in the harsh deodorant after all. Women are still getting a better deal, otherwise they can just buy men's deodorant, but they don't want to -- they want the more expensive formula that doesn't make the skin as sensitive and also has more essential oils and things. It's a bit silly, but the 5G difference actually pays for the more expensive formulation. The active ingredient is the same, they get the same, they can pay for men's deodorant any day, but they'd rather give up 5G to get one that has nice oils in it to smell better, and make the skin moister.
The deodorant is such a terrible example. The womans version was using a new style of roller while the men's version was using the decades old version. The men's version of dove in the new slim packaging is the same as the woman version here. It supposedly has more "premium" scents and cost the same as the womans....
Just buy gender neutral stuff, and buy it on sale. If the women's products include expensive ingredients, to make them more " fancy " and " attractive " okay, but that formulation has to cost money. A shea butter cream vs regular soap are not on equal grounds. Women don't have to use special soft fancy ingredients, they can get by on basic men's soap, and then bam!~!~~ Have women just buy cheap men's products instead! It's just a matter of personal taste, and a desire to buy something a bit more silky, luxurious, and less harsh on your skin so you have a better appearance, but it's not forced, women can wash with whatever they want, even nothing!~ Water itself is wonderful. The more expensive products have more essential oils, a better formula, and better ingredients - otherwise, just don't choose them, if you go with men's basic products and get man-skin, don't complain - the essential oils and butters for luxury products do actually cost something, and it's more than bare basic dollar-store product. Why should men pay for things they don't receive, so that women's soap with fancy essential oils and shea butters and such can cost the same? That's just junk, they can use soap; like anybody else.
This is how capitalism functions. Businesses realize that women have a ‘higher willingness to pay’ for beauty products. This is how businesses function, through price discrimination.
It works the other way around too. Men tend to have to pay more money for the graphics card they want. Most people who buy RTX 4090 graphics card identify as men. Most people who buy Lamborghinis identify as men. Men pay higher prices for graphics cards and cars targeted towards men. Sure, the product is different, but some people don’t care about details like that.
@@dadozygaming I’m not sure I’m understanding what you are saying. To clarify, are you saying that women pay a lower price for a graphics card, compared to men? Same with Lamborghinis. Jut would like to better understand what you are saying.
@@silentlyjudgingyou I’m not talking about societal pressures towards women. I’m talking purely about capitalism, and how businesses operate in a capitalist, free market. But to your point, I do agree societal pressures apply to many different groups of people.
@@dadozygaming I would also like to say, that what you are saying isn’t price discrimination. It is something else that probably doesn’t exist. When it comes to buying cars, negotiation is what it comes down to, no matter the gender lol. The MSRP is gonna be on the car, and it is up to whoever it is that is buying the car to negotiate the price.
exactly. people don't realize that the pink tax is just the simple economics of supply and demand. it exists because woman are willing to pay more for the identical product. and if they are willing to do so, then the market will increase the price accordingly.
@@NO1xANIMExFAN how are they "willing" when the marketing often hides the fact that the items are identical? The naproxen marketed as "menstrual pain relief" vs the naproxen marketed as a general pain reliever is the perfect example. Most people would assume that the menstrual one somehow works differently to help with period pain specifically.
@@000snow000 But Naproxen for general pain and menstrual pain relief with naproxen have different ingredients. That is one of the reasons the prices are different
You have to dig much deeper than this. I'm not saying there's no "pink tax" - I believe it exists, but you have to dig deeper into why. Saying that companies make more money isn't enough of an explanation, because why wouldn't they make even more money if they increase the price of products sold to men? There's something about how women buy products that makes them more willing to pay a premium, and that's an interesting area to research.
It comes from the sexist idea that men are the default and women are "other". Men's products are the basic version and women's products are a variation on the basic version. This is clearly bs but it persists in all fields, including medical care, unfortunately.
There is no pink tax. There are only women choosing to buy more expensive products. Women can buy the cheaper men's products. Women CHOOSE to pay more. No one is stopping women from purchasing the cheaper products.
Most skincare items can be used for boys and girls and whatever other gender of all sorts of ages, maybe except for babies. I listen to skincare videos by dermatologists often, but this seemed obvious to me for a long time
People should do their research. There are basic ingredients you should look for. AHA and BHA for example, which are chemical exfoliants, great for skin, no matter the gender. In general for anything like that you should do your research to figure out what ingredients you need and find the cheapest option. It's simple. You could empty out in another bottle if the gender packaging doesn't appeal to you... Also just a reminder to wear your sunscreen guys 👍
They got an explanation as to why the bikes are priced differently, yet ignored that and staged a false flag explanation. If you're not smart enough to shop smart, you deserve to pay more, and I say that as a father of two girls. It's good economic sense to change more where you can, and as for the bikes, you know the exact reason why the link one is more.
People need to understand a simple Economics terms seriously though because this has nothing to do with inequality. Price discrimination : Charging different consumers different price based on their willingness to pay. Remember Companies, Organizations, and firms care about one thing and that is Maximizing Profits. What do I mean by that is if you willingness to pay is higher then they will charged you based on that but if your willingness is not has high or not able to purchased thing more often then their willingness to charge you would be based on a reasonable price.
Bike; not sure why but if toys are us are saying one is a newer model they CBC should look into the bikes and check the manufacturer date/weight/brand… cuz the pink bike would be Rocky brand and the blue would be shimano. - major difference in price. Razor; engineered for different purposes. Deodorant; woman has different ingredients, including floral sent via men which is more generic. Medication; I have no experience with the medication but as a consumer of good, I look at the ingredients list/proportion/functions/r&D could explain this. It seems what this video lacks is a thorough research to do a complete breakdown of female products vs males products and their price discrepancy.
Are you being disingenuous? Both of the bikes are Huffy brand. It's clear in all of the shots of the bikes. Where are you getting these other brand names from????
Some women have issues with the "Pink Tax" but have no problem with ladies night at social events, getting into nightclubs free, having men pay for dates, getting discounts from mechanics etc. There is price discrimination in many forms when it comes to capitalism.
@@dancininthemoonlight6138 We know that, but it's still real. Many people don't see these things. And some primitives may even call you an lncel just for bringing it up.

@@tarag7292 What are "huge e products"? Anyway, women often have things for free or at a discount. Going to clubs is not the only thing, right? For example, getting free transport from male friends? Just look how many guys have cars vs how many girls. It's almost always us guys who have to pick you up when we're going somewhere. Girls rarely ask how much to contribute to fuel... Do you know what a huge expense an average car is? Your tampon costs are totally laughable compared to that.
@@cancelled_user You sound bitter. How in that world does a single individual giving a woman a ride compare to a corporation charging women more money for products? I can't take you seriously if you're comparing h*rney men giving women free rides, as if that is applicable to every woman, to corporation price gauging hygiene products.
There is an aspect where women have preferences to more sophisticated care products but with hair it is a great example of yea. There needs to be the option for hair length and what you want done and pay accordingly
I'll give you that but it should be priced by process complexity and ingredients not plumbing . Especialy considering the marketing departments of these companys are in part at fault for creating the beauty standards that pressure womaen to think like this.
The problem is the woman hairstylist isn't that, she's an untrained hair cutter. She may have a knack for it but I GUARANTEE she has no official training in aesthetics and can't cut and prepare many styles of hair. Great with sheers but not skilled at anything intricate therefore she doesn't charge those higher prices. At least her pricing takes into account her actual skill level.
As a female, the reason why our products are higher priced is because lots of women spend so much time and money with beauty stuff. Meanwhile, dudes just get what they need and call it a day lol. I'm more like them when it comes to that. I just have what I need, find them at a decent price and that's all. I don't even wear makeup. Never unsterood the appeal to that.
Me too! I just get and do what I need to. I have things that interest me far more and I’d rather spend my time on. I don’t wear makeup at all, never did. One reason is I have sensitive skin that could easily be irritated, but even if not I still wouldn’t be interested in putting random stuff on myself with who knows what ingredients. Never understood that.
@@lizliz4186 Deodorants have different formulations hence the price differences. Some men's products are higher priced. I use "non-scented" ANYONE can use it if it floats their boat. Razors ARE different. different metals, different number of blades, different shapes, different types of "smooth lubricant strips", different handles.... In other words, they are DIFFERENT. That being said, if one is cheaper then simply use the blue one and be done with it. The Naproxen for general pain and menstrual pain relief with naproxen have different ingredients. That is one of the reasons the prices are different. If you did a bit of research into what you ingest you'd know that in advance. If you look down the rack of bikes you will always find variations in price. Sometimes it really is a simple as an older bike vs a new bike or increased shipping, old stock, different manufacturer etc.
Tell your 5 year old daughter she has to wear the blue outfit and not the pink one. Also she has to have the toy that is boyish. Also make sure you get your painkillers from the correct aisle, not the one with all the rest of the period-related products where you would expect to find it. Be prepared to read the fine print on absolutely everything that you purchase even when you don't expect it to be a gendered product (like naproxen). Do you see how this is not reasonable for every person to have to do? This is why companies price this way, they know they will always catch some people in their trick and make more money. That's why we need legislation and consumer protection laws.

I buy a non-gendered Canadian deodorant that's also hypoallergenic, so shoutout to Green Beaver for not gendering their stuff to try and get more money. Also, Naproxen is available by prescription, so if you do get bad cramps and mention it to your doctor, it's often cheaper to get it by prescription, especially if you have a plan that covers it like I do.

I belive in Equal pay. Also the "gender wage gap" is generally easily explained by that people are paid by experience and quality of work, not fresh with just a few months experience, the time off really is difficult, because if you take 6 years off after working 2 years, you won't expect to be paid the same as someone who worked 8 years solid and actually has experience, knowledge, and has learned the ins and outs with good experience. Nobody is an expert at first in anything, but people are always rewarded for the experience they gain over actually working for long periods of time. You can't just walk in and say I'm a pastry chef, you have to complete an apprenticeship, know what you're doing, and have experience - even the rising of bread is different on a humid vs a dry day. A master is always paid more than a novice, just don't become a novice and you're all good. Nobody can walk in after working 2 years, being off for the next 8 and saying oh, well my 2 years experience is 10 years, because actually, you'll have forgotten a lot and need to catch up on your 2 years after such a long gap in time. You're more like a fresh student off college. That is why you might be whiny that you * FEEL * you have inequal pay, but you do, you're paid the same as anyone who only has 24 months under their belt, and they don't even penalize you for the fact you have to catch up after 8 years out of the profession. If you're good at your job and the company wants you, they will pay you, don't worry about that, but if you're risky and haven't worked for half-a-decade and are rusty and out of the loop on new technology yes... you'll find that does affect your career, just as anyone else.
I figured this out decades ago and so purchase quite a lot of "male" products. My fav is casual shoes and boots. I wear a small shoe size so I can shop in the boy's department, furthering my savings. And don't forget recently, the gender wage difference was 13% in Canada.
Have you compared products side by side though? Because they are not same. Even here, CBC won't show you the back side with ingredients, they just claim "it's identical". If you watch youtubers that debunk pink tax, they compared products in more detail, including active ingredients, and they are not same.
Unisex -- Men's soaps also have nice woody essential oils vs the female soaps, and are also very expensive - it's unisex soaps that are the best value.
I’ve been buying men’s razors and shaving cream for decades and honestly the razors and shave cream work so much better than the women’s which is sad that we pay more for subpar product too!
Right. There is no pink tax. Only women choosing to pay more. You don't have to buy women's razors. You choose to women's razors. Women can choose to buy the men's products. So if women want to save money they can just buy men's products instead of complaining about the pink tax.
I would assume that men's hair are thicker and need more "heavy duty" razors. Especially facial hair. Women's skin is also softer and can get irritated more easily. And btw, pink tax videos have been debunked by lots of youtubers (including women), as they usually cover important details (16 razors in women's pack vs 12 razors in men's package) or even compare products that no longer exist, so cannot be even priced differently.
They do it because they can. Women will pay more for a product that's perceived to be a better product. Men will buy the cheapest thing that gets the job done. Yes, broad stereotyping, and doesn't speak for every individual, but true as a whole.
Well said I go in and buy the biggest bottle of soap that will work on hair and body and face for the cheapest price. One day last year I ran out of soap mid shower and just figured I'll grab some shampoo from my wife's bottle Let me tell you, I had no idea there could be 6 bottles all of which were for hair and not a single one just said "shampoo" I have 1 giant bottle in the shower and my wife has almost a dozen various cleansers and cleaners and moisturizers holy moly.
This video wasn't talking about different effectiveness or higher quality of products. It was specifically looking at items that are equal but marketed for women vs men
@@000snow000 - But they're very rarely exactly the same. That's probably by design, so that direct comparisons can't be made. For instance, on the razers, the women's razers tend to have more lubrication strips and/or a handle with a non-slip grip for using in the shower/bath. They're basically the same thing and used for the same purpose, but there are differences. So, even though the men's razers are just as effective for shaving legs, a woman will pay 30% more for a razer that's marketed to them as being more "silky smooth".
Multiple factors at play with demand curves, production lot sizes, and economies of scale being the most relevant. Why is the naproxen sodium more expensive in the menstrual care packaging? Is it justified? Of course! I can almost guarantee that the menstrual care product costs substantially more to sell than the mass market product. Both boxes take the same space in the store while one outsells the other at a rate that may be 100-to-1. That makes one product 100 times more expensive in shelf rent. Labor costs per item are different when one product gets tons of boxes a day added while the other is a specialty item that needs to be watched and added at a much slower rate. My point being that this is not necessarily gender-bias but can instead be standard market factors.
Jokes on you I don't use deodorant. But CBC why are you trying so hard to find something when there is nothing in some cases. For the bikes they told you it was a different model, when you buy things at different times of year your wholesaler sells it to you for a different price. As for the clothes it costs more labour to make it frilly.
People should do their research. DON"I BUY !!. It's not a price difference but a size difference so it's not as obvious or charged you based on your willingness to accept the status. Wait for clearance if you want the containers to place in company bathroom, if you don't buy it will be on clearance.

The kids shirts were differet, pink one had more work done to it than the blue one. Also, Pink colored things are almost never bought by boys as they deem it girly, but with any other color both boys and girls are likely to buy them, causing it to be a better decision to manufacture for the company.
This goes both ways. Men pay more for car insurance than women. Same age, same driving history. There’s a lot of inequality for both genders. CBC needs to bring the focus on the Men’s side too and not just the women side
I'm a student in Medical Assistant, I can somewhat explain the drug price difference. From what I have learned by far, there are cheaper ones for affordable convenient prices. Where as the expensive one is more expensive because it is heavy duty and should expect some results on it's side effects. So it's really about how strong that medication is. Especially the manufacturer, label, how much it contains, WHAT it contains, and how to use it. Another reason is because of people who need it. Gender aside, medications are hard to find when everyone has a hold of them. It's very common. You also have to think about what store you are shopping at. A lot of little things matter! I have yet to still try and learn medications and the reasons for prices I am not sure if it's the same in Canada though.

Could they not have found razors that were the same count? To me it seems that instead of getting 4 razors you could have doubled it and saved a dollar instead (the perceived deal)
As a straight man , I'm angry about this. Because generally speaking , fro personal hygiene market , "for men" products are more often advertisement as "targeted market" ones , while "the other...aka "pink market"" ones are labeled as "general , not gender-based" ones. So you would think the "regular" are cheaper than "for men" (I mean.....beside razors , I never buy the "for men" , and always go for "regular" for this. And you are telling me I paid so much pink tax???) (especially when the "for men" products are shelved in it's own section instead of beside of the "regular" (some stores do this).....which make it harder to compare the price.)
This is where you might have it all wrong, The pink tax is not for women. Women, in general, are smarter shoppers, Reading the labels and checking the prices, and comparing, which is why 9 times out of ten you will see women with coupons when paying and never see men with them, The Pink tax is Aimed at men when Buying for women, We have a daughter or a niece, Without thinking we get a pink one and pay the pink tax for her bike, Wife or Girlfriend calls and asking for cramp pills or razors to do her legs...., men stops at drug stores and Automatically go for the pink ones just because we think its specifically designed for a woman's body and her needs! SOOO When you really think about it the Pink tax is a ploy to prey on men's caveman like mentality.
I remember girls at school buying mens deodorant because it was cheaper and smelled better. I just try to avoid anything gendered where I can. A lot of smaller Canadian companies I've noticed tend to have more options that don't say a gender. Now, I have to avoid perfume so this is just my experience, but Green Beaver, Carina Organics, and even Lush tend to use more plain packaging and you go by what you like the smell of, not by what colour the label is.
Is it possible that the costs of manufacturing, raw material, and marketing are different? Let's use the bike for example. Toys R Us responded to CBC that the bikes were manufactured in different years. I don't think it's beyond reason to assume that manufacturing costs can fluctuate from year to year difference of 5%. If you're going to compare men's and women's razors, why not just buy men's razors? It's because women's razors are used in more sensitive areas and are manufactured differently. As for drugs, the same argument can be made between brand-name and generic drugs. I don't think the responsibility falls on shoppers to identify this. Let's start using some common sense with some of these arguments.
I often buy the womens deodorants and dont care paying more, imo they are better quality and smell better. Mens deodorants smell like nuclear. So no, its not the same product.
If the gender pay gap is indeed true, why don’t companies hire only women? I’m tired of this nonsense when they throw in the statistic without considering individual life choices. Especially when women have different priorities when it comes to raising kids, often ending up leaving the workforce. It seems that this factor is left out in that argument. Or the fact that men work longer hours, which is also reflected in the statistics and contributes to the increase in pay. It’s a different story if you’re doing the same exact job but getting paid less because you are female - that’s a crime. So, I have no idea how they can make this type of argument out of thin air and misrepresent the statistics. Men and women have different priorities that are reflected in their pay.
So many of those products should be generic and gender neutral. Why does a medication have to be gendered? Aleve is the brand name and you should have lower price generic options that is it and maybe different dosages and number of tablets in the box. The bicycles should not do that, it is possible for a father to buy his son the pink bike and buy his daughter the blue bike...
So buy the blue bike for your girl. Buy the Aleve. Be smarter shoppers and don't let marketing fool you. But if you are particular about the color, then $10 more for the pink one is what you pay... because boys generally aren't that particular. If I see something in lime green and it's $10 more, I'm willing to pay it because that's my jam. Doubtful it's profitable to specifically make lime green available just for me. I bet it's very profitable to make pink bikes to tap into the girl market. Is the market for boys bikes the same as for girls? No, even basic concepts of supply and demand will apply differently to those segments.
We need more regulations like a state like California (joke). Vote with your wallet, your knowledge, and your voice. Read the labels. If it is the same, then buy the cheaper product. When they something, they charge a higher price. Ibuprofen is an example because something is MAX does not mean it is better. Maybe CBC can do something similar for men's auto insurance which is higher than women's.

The labelling in our country is inadequate. There are so many misleading labelling practices that make it incredibly difficult to vote accurately with your wallet.
The auto insurance price difference is a direct result of men getting into more accidents and being more reckless drivers overall. Men cost a lot more money to insurance providers than women do. Its not a good comparison.

….price is determined by sales. If they sell 50 blue bikes in a month….and only 20 pink ones… of course the pink one had to be priced higher to bridge the gap in profits….
That’s because women’s fashion is even more ‘fast’ than men’s. Trends move quicker, one week it’s chokers next it’s belly chains, one month everything is 70’s inspired, the next its 90’s. So because the business model is built on not only trends, but now ‘micro trends’ styles lose their appeal much quicker and are marked down faster. Not to mention in general men’s clothing uses better material and the fabrication is sometimes better. At least, that’s what I’ve experienced over the years working in retail. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ You don’t get as many sales but I guarantee the lifecycle of your clothing is much longer than most women’s.
And car insurance is more expensive for men. I don't see any women advocating to lower car insurance for men. There is no pink tax. Only women that choose to pay more by purchasing women's products that are more expensive. Right now TODAY you pay less for your products. Go to the store and purchase men's products that are cheaper. Will you do that ?
travel and health insurance costs have a direct coloration to actual payouts and claims. Women cost insurance companies more in claims so they charge a slightly higher price to help offset the cost.
I find that 'the colour of the item' may have something to do with it as well. Great example would be if you were to buy a phone case: Same phone case, one other colour will be slightly more than the other.
Maybe it's because demand for women products are higher which jack up prices . It's like comparing tim hortons to starbucks. Why is star bucks more expensive? Who cares if somone is willing to pay for starbucks, so be it
@@000snow000 Men are not worse drivers, just take more risk or drive faster. For example, women tailgate me just as much as men, if not more. That's really bad driving. Women just tend to drive slower, that's all. A "good driver" is very vague term. It can have many different criteria.
Identical looking mobile phones like Samsung and Iphone have huge price differences. I wasn't expecting such a lousy journalism from CBC. Those 2 bikes are from different brands and obviously will have price differences. Women's deodrants have a lot more scent in them as compared to that of men's, hence they are expensive. Match the products, ingredients, brands, and quantiities if you want to fairly compare any 2 objects.

@@000snow000 no, its because i actually do understand whats going on here. A blue bike is not the same product as a pink bike. There are actual reasons why they might be different prices. Its entirely possible the manufacturer uses blue paint more commonly and have a better price on blue than pink. Maybe they sell more blue bikes than pink and are able to move the price down a few dollars because the retailers buy more blue bikes. Maybe the price was negotiated last year and they didn't sell through all the pinks and now theres a new price on blue. When a purchaser procures products in such volume, prices are negotiated down to pennies and pennies over 1000 units turns into a 10 dollar difference at the consumers end. There's a whole pile of reasons why something that seems like the same thing has a different cost. Edit: I think the disconnect here is that people are expecting stores to price average the two products for the appearance of fairness. But thats just not how it works.
@@000snow000 Sorry, you don't comprehend. There is a very legitimate explanation for ALL of it. Don't believe things just because MarketPlace tells you. They've lied in the past and have been caught doing so. Different products have different ingredients and components hence prices will vary.
Nothing personal. Just a business decision. The invisible hand of free market so decided. A man does not need to be beautiful anyway. A man is defined by his acts, not his looks.
Very discriminatory video. Men pay a lot for lot other things. I live in Vancouver and it's very difficult to find affordable room rental for men. Average men eat way more than women. So much higher expenses for food.
Deodorants are formulated differently for men and women. I use unscented. Any person can use that for the SAME price.

Women don't have to use special soft fancy ingredients, they can get by on basic men's soap, and then bam!~!~~
Have women just buy cheap men's products instead!
And society presures women to think that way in part through marketing to prop this bs up.

@@NO1xANIMExFAN how are they "willing" when the marketing often hides the fact that the items are identical?
And marketing to women is more costly and sophisticated than men because of their buying habits and behaviors
@@allahm8893 yes, making pink packaging is super sophisticated and costly. Took a lot of brain power to come up with that one!

Love market place. But let's be real. Women and men have the same access to razors, deodorant and other products. They can buy the cheaper products.

Bike; not sure why but if toys are us are saying one is a newer model they CBC should look into the bikes and check the manufacturer date/weight/brand… cuz the pink bike would be Rocky brand and the blue would be shimano. - major difference in price.

Lather up a regular soap bar, spread lather on and shave. Works great for arm pits and legs. Saves a lot of cash.

And that coffee thing was a bit cringy 😂 Basically, you were lying to people and even agreed with the girl about the "gender pay gap" which is another hoax.
OK, I used to like these videos and thought it was a good journalism, but now I'll have to take them with a pinch of salt...
To me they always do amazing research but this time...they should taking them bikes to a professional cyclist or a bike shop to analyze different factors
@@emcdowell2884 Yes, I was disappointed too. I liked their other videos, not sure wtf is going on with this one. Feminist propaganda is not cool anymore. It's not just the bicycle, it's the other items too.
A bunch of kid youtubers did better job than CBC with their investigations. Search up "pink tax debunked".
It looks like the bikes were 2 different brands! Also, the girls shirt had ruffle sleeves which took more time to manufacture. The girls shirt also had a design that had to be created & applied.
y'all should pick out simpler things like adult T-shirts or sports goods. or even regular thermals. Womens' are priced higher for no actual rason.
Womens are form fitting and many times use softer materials. They are NOT the same so there IS a reason for it.
Oh...in Canada they're still stuck with blue for boys and pink for girls? 👎
2:32 but also you could just be yourself instead of buying new clothes . I get it’s showing the price difference just giving advice on how to save more
Because when the boat is sinking, I have to get off last... So I get cheaper razors. Call it a day folks.
Yes, it is certainly a common occurrence for us men these days to be on a sinking ship and having to yield way to women to escape first. In fact over the last month I've been in that exact situation 3 times - it's a miracle I'm still alive.
P.S. The movie Titanic took place in the 1912. It's now the year 2023. You're over a century behind.
@@Royan1900 So you are looking for a recent example, very well. In a war or "special military operation", women gets to leave the warzone while men are blocked from leaving at the border and drafted into the military to fight. I don't mind attempts to address the issue of gender but I will only take it seriously when it tries to address everything and not just cherry pick.
@@jjmicmic7043
ok I think you took my comment a bit too seriously - obviously I get women and men are not physically equal (the average man is stronger and faster than the average woman, hence more enlist into military), but I gotta call out senseless comments like "sinking ship" in 2023, which is as ridiculous as women in *Canada* in *2023* complaining of women not having equal legal rights as men.
Until both sides stop using extreme cherry-picked examples as "argument points", we aren't going to put gender issues to rest.
@@Royan1900 I agree that is why these discussion always triggers people. Not only they don't try to address all cases of gender issue, they don't even address the biggest cases. In times of crisis, men will always be expected to deal with it. Next time they should start with that.
The Trudeau government has the most fancy name for their ministers, but are they doing their jobs the best? Same sloppy job as their boss does.
As a woman I have been using men’s razors and men’s shaving cream for yrs
Could they not have found razors that were the same count? To me it seems that instead of getting 4 razors you could have doubled it and saved a dollar instead (the perceived deal)
As a straight man , I'm angry about this.
Because generally speaking , fro personal hygiene market , "for men" products are more often advertisement as "targeted market" ones , while "the other...aka "pink market"" ones are labeled as "general , not gender-based" ones. So you would think the "regular" are cheaper than "for men"
(I mean.....beside razors , I never buy the "for men" , and always go for "regular" for this. And you are telling me I paid so much pink tax???)
(especially when the "for men" products are shelved in it's own section instead of beside of the "regular" (some stores do this).....which make it harder to compare the price.)
I'm AFAB and for years I've been buying the men's version of pretty much every product that I can, because it is almost always a better deal.
This is non issue. Apple charges double the amount of Andriod bcus they can charge more. This is basic Econ 101
Low key I buy men's razors to shave my legs cus I'm cheap 😬
If your really looking to save a buck get into double edge blades. You can buy a pack of 100 blades for 25$
I’ve been buying men’s razors for 20 years because they’re cheaper
i don't shave, it's a waste of time. you can save even more money by not wearing a bra and using old rags instead of menstrual pads overnight.
Let’s look at car insurance prices, girls pay 1/4 compared to guys…
So many of those products should be generic and gender neutral. Why does a medication have to be gendered? Aleve is the brand name and you should have lower price generic options that is it and maybe different dosages and number of tablets in the box.
The bicycles should not do that, it is possible for a father to buy his son the pink bike and buy his daughter the blue bike...
Why do men pay more for car insurance then and child support? (And don't even get custody)
Maybe CBC can do something similar for men's auto insurance which is higher than women's.
there are certain products that only one company makes, so how do you buy the cheaper version i have a wife that is allergic to many of the types of female hygiene products so she has to use a certain type of stuff and so there is no other option
@@redred222 See original comment "if it is the same" But that is medical specific issue. I knew a lady that was allergic to all perfumes and to get a soap that was scent free and not a "premium" price was difficult. Menapause Drug that they talk about in the video is the same as Aleve. CBC hints bring legislation like California. Me, just buy Aleve or even better a generic version. CBC picks things that fits their political agenda.
Not true.
I like marketplace when they go after scammers / etc but this was an awful watch. Amateur hour journalism.

I always consider amount vs price vs quality- men or women version. Have been for dacades.
I always found men's socks last longer and are cheaper. Never understood that one. Same with jeans. I have a pair of men's Levi's I got on sale, and the material is so much stronger than the women's ones.
@@joylox Same. I only recently got men socks at size 40-46 instead of the men 36-42 (?) I usually get - much nicer.
@@joylox So do they make it softer for women? Would make sense since women's skin is also softer.
@@cancelled_user Softer usually means treated with more chemicals, often featuring spandex, and less durable. Certainly made more for fashion than actually doing stuff. I want clothes I can wear without worrying if/when they'll rip. And Fjallraven uses the same tougher material for a variety of products and pants.
theres 2 reasons why pink things cost more than blue things for one the color pink is 6.84 percent a more popular color for men and women and also pink is a more expensive color to manufacture then blue is as well
This is completely false. Blue is actually a much more expensive pigment than red-based colours such as pink.
Razor’s ok something people just waste money on instead of saving their money
Doing research, why? Should it not just be illegal to charge more for the same thing?
Now we need 500 different prices with all thin men & women trying to disguised as something else that they’re not.
I find it amusing that the girl still believes men get paid more for being men...
This whole video was a reach imo, but what that hair salon was doing was really smart.
Wow we paid for this??? What a waste of taxes...
If it was a real comparison you would do a real comparison with all the numbers and ingredients, not check two products who aren't the same quickly and make your invited feminist say that women are "oppressed". Get the ingredients list, scent ingredients list, paint price, sales numbers, stolen items value, unsold goods numbers, the msrp, etc. No it's better to completely cut corners and do a bad episode of a great 50 years old show.
….price is determined by sales. If they sell 50 blue bikes in a month….and only 20 pink ones… of course the pink one had to be priced higher to bridge the gap in profits….
How about looking into how woman’s clothing stores are almost always having sales but yet for us men were lucky if we get two sales a year
That’s because women’s fashion is even more ‘fast’ than men’s.
You don’t get as many sales but I guarantee the lifecycle of your clothing is much longer than most women’s.
Travel insurance and health coverage when paying out of pocket is more expensive for women than men 🤷♀️
And car insurance is more expensive for men.
Women usually go doctor more than men so healthcare insurance makes sense
These pink tax videos have been debunked by multiple youtubers (yes, female youtubers too). Just search Pink Tax Debunked
I pay more for car insurance and have never had an accident
I find that 'the colour of the item' may have something to do with it as well. Great example would be if you were to buy a phone case: Same phone case, one other colour will be slightly more than the other.
I used to work for a company, and our source for different colour plastic materials costs different. Really simple.
It's simple supply and demand
This is what our taxes goes towards my friends...
Maybe it's because demand for women products are higher which jack up prices .
It's like comparing tim hortons to starbucks. Why is star bucks more expensive? Who cares if somone is willing to pay for starbucks, so be it
Why do men pay more for insurance lol
Because men are worse drivers overall, getting into more accidents than women. They literally cost insurance companies a lot more money.
@@000snow000 Men are not worse drivers, just take more risk or drive faster. For example, women tailgate me just as much as men, if not more. That's really bad driving. Women just tend to drive slower, that's all. A "good driver" is very vague term. It can have many different criteria.

The men's razors were much better quality than women's.
