Joe is what happens when you play air guitar, air piano, and air drums while the music attacks your nervous system all at the same time. I know this because this is how i dance. i thought i was a freak until i saw Joe in a video as a kid. Thanks Mr. Cocker!
Im so glad someone else noticed that's EXACTLY what he's doing is playing all the air instruments at one time ! The music just lived within him, and when the band started playing, it opened up his senses to reveal live music. Joe Cocker was the definition of music embodied in a human being.
Although it seems that this man has lost his damn mind, Joe was in total control. The great ones always zone out; janis joplin, bob marley and james brown all performed like this and knew what they were doing and why they were doing it. Joe was an original and I thank him for having me and the rest of the world FEELIN' ALRIGHT

Air guitar, air piano, air drums! What a unique special talent he was throughout the years! I saw him in Hollywood, FL in the early 70's with Leon Russel at Pirate's World. I was personally insulted when John Belushi mocked him on stage in a version of SNL, but in later years found humor in the musical sketch! As far as I know Joe never commented maliciously.
Rumor has it, Joe saw that impression and asked what that was all about, he had to be told that he does all that stuff onstage... he never really realized it, and when asked about it, said he was playing air guitar, and air piano, and air drums sorta all at once... he toned that down after that.
Mr Alan Spenner on the bass, one of the finest players ever. Love how free he was to flourish with such a tight band. Joe is playing air bass most of this show (part of a 40 minute split set)! What a great video, thanks for sharing! 👌👌👌
The instrumentation, the rhythm, the lyrics, his raspy voice all combine for a moving song. This is what I've instructed to be played, at my funeral, as whatever mourners appear, as they walk past my casket for the last viewing of my husk, before oblivion and the sun and wind no longer are upon my face. Good job Joe. I hope to hear you sing on the dark side of the moon.
I saw Joe at McClurg Ct. theater in Chicago in the 80's.The one song that still stands out is him singing "You can leave your hat on"and sipping from a full bottle of JD.Awesome.

Marc Hill yea, he's probably the first ever to play the air guitar and he was totally in control.
Absolutely...Joe could smoke a Columbian forest and never miss a beat.
I think it takes a certain ability to let go and go with the feeling of the music but also be able to steer the ship if you will.
Lord I have something to tell you , you already know.
Janis routinely downed an entire bottle of Wild Turkey at her shows.
That man was 100% rocknroll music. And that band sure knows how to go with the flow.

No matter what back-up singers sound like..Joe is always on time and in key.
I think the piano player couldn't hear his vocal. That's a good thing.
Those background singers are fucking horrible!!
So true! They sound like they're in pain.
@@69ElChistoso Gotta admit, they didn't add to the song in a good way. They were harshing Joe's vibe. I'm wondering if it was the mixing board?
Same back up guys at Woodstock
Same boots he wore at woodstock!
Smattering of applause. They had no clue. Legendary.
He was always on point. His rhythm is flawless
this is a man that loves the music
Cocker was amazing. ..look at him grooving to the music. He was a great singer and performer.
