this is my dad's favorite song. i remember driving with him in late evenings as a kid and 'child in time' always was the first song to play in his car. as a little kid i didn't quiet understand this music but now i'm so grateful to my dad for showing me this masterpiece. we still listen to rock music in my room in evenings sometimes or watch live concerts together - my 60-year-old dad and me (his 17-year-old daughter). this song will always remind me of those warm evenings in his car and that tenderness between us. i can't express all my feelings in words i just love my dad he means the world to me. he'll never see this comment but thanks daddy for raising me right and showing me real music. you don't know how much i love you much more than you could ever imagine

I lost my folks early so please do what you can to connect every way possible. Rock is a beautifull way of doing that. My Dad did not get Iron maiden. Ha ha.
Who would think a song about war could be this beautiful? Deep Purple, Ian Gillam. Perfect pitch, perfect lead guitar, perfect kb, perfect rhythm section, and 100% pure rock and roll. I might be old now but i will never regret being here for this fantastic music. When younger people think us older folks don't know much about music, i just look the other way, i don't think many would understand it.But, there are some that do, i thank them for that. One Purple concert, 72 or 73, was so loud that my ears rang for two days after. Couldn't lift my head from off my pillow either my neck ached so much from so much headbanging. Oh happy days!
Same, saw them at Granby Hall, Leicester was 17, think was the most ear ringing concert I have been to. 66 now, no wonder I have tinnitus!! Will never get fed up with this brilliant!!!
My favorite too just seen them but they didn’t play it he is just to old to hit those high notes night after night, but the concert was great and I get glad to see them performance in 1984
Deep Purple and Ten Years After was the first concert i ever attended. My God, can you imagine those bands on the same ticket? This was such an excellent performance, not enough words can describe it's greatness.
I'm now 61 years old, been listening to rock music most of my life. This song, mostly due to Ian Gilliam's AWE-INSPIRING vocal, gives me chills to this day. If anyone asks me to give them a song with amazing work by a lead vocalist, this is Number1 on my list!
Yes Made In Japan is one of the few albums I can listen to over and over. I have never got tired of listening to it. People who know Made In Japan know it is the greatest Live Album ever recorded.
This is THE BEST version of this song... EVER!! In my opinion only Child in time....Stair way to heaven...are the best rock ballads for ever!!🤗🤗 And... Nothing else matter... 😃👋👋👋👍
My first concert in Boston 1973, Uriah Heep warms up Deep Purple! 31/2 hours of sheer Heavy Metal at it's peak!! Right place at the right time, changed my life forever! Age 16, (now 67) and still listening to Made In Japan, especially on roadtrips, burning a few fattys along the way! ❤😂😮😊
I have always been and still am deeply in love with the middle part of this version of Child In Time, the improvisations in between the sung parts. The tightness of the band, the outstanding quality of each one of the musicians, the interplay between Lord en Blackmore, with Paice and Glover driving and pushing behind it. It is the most genius utter oneness in brilliance that I know of of a band. It is jazz and blues and hardrock morphed into one intoxicating 4 minute eargasm. Purple was my favorite band when I was a child, and this part of this version of this song is the pinnacle of why I have always loved them so much, with Highway Star of Made In Japan as a second. Made In Europe also has moments of brilliance and I also think Come Taste The Band is a great album, even though the line-up and the sound are completely different. But that Purple quality is always there. Love.
I was 19yrs old when this came out! I was Deep Purple mad, i loved their music, still do! Wow! What a fantastic story. I'm a huge Deep Purple fan myself, and still am. I think it's great that you met the love of your life at their concert, and yet waited all those years to finally realize that you two were destined to be together. What a great love story. Thanks for sharing.
Best recording of all time. So much feeling by Ritchie. And whomever mocks Ian Gillan for his present day aged vocals as a 75year old, should come here, listen to this and hang their head in shame for having spoken disparagingly of the man who produced this unmatched vocal masterpiece.
I'm 57 and just found this magnificent song. I knew Deep Purple because my sister had the album and I was young, didn't listen to them. But now, I can not get enough of them. This band is 1 of a kind. No one can sing the way Ian sings, no one can play the way the band plays. I wish I was from that era

The way Jon Lord Play the intro is astonishing.. is the best he ever did and also during Blackmore solo... well he is (was) the Lord of the Hammond.. RIP Maestro!!! Long live Deep Purple!!!!!!
1974...14 years old then, I recorded the song from the record of the elder brother of a friend...listened to it 10 times a day full blast for a few months. My mother used to freak out. Always make me think of her today when I hear the song. Legend.
The last high pitched note is an high A , A5 specifically. The first high note is a mixed-chest C5 before the screams , but he didn't sang this concert.
This was vintage DP, hard rockers, excellent musicians. Ian was not "screaming", he hit every note perfectly. He was clearly singing. Like him or not, Blackmore , was a brilliant, excellent guitar player. This is one of the best rock songs of all time, if not the best. The rhythm is consistently and heavily heard through the whole song, Bass and drums open it up for the other three to thrive , perfect start to finish.
I don't care if people call it screaming, yelling, singing, the fact of the matter is that it fit the song perfectly and it makes it a fucking masterpiece.
SIMPLY ONE OF THE BEST RECORDINGS OF ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVER , PERIOD !!! MADE IN JAPAN RULES !!! RITCHIES SOLO, IAN GILLIANS HAUNTING SCREAMS , ENOUGH SAID !!!
I've listened to this song for many times. It's the best song of Deep Purple,I suppose.I feel so touched every time when I listen to it especially the screaming.
This piece is gorgeous, each of them plays perfectly: Gillian is exciting, Backmore makes a spectacular solo, Paice also repeats the minimal nuances of the studio version, perhaps even improving it. Deep Purple are among the biggest rock bands of all time, the so-called British "Hard Rock Triad" was composed by them together with Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. Three incredible groups at the same time. This album is surely one of the best, if not the best in the world, among live rock records.
I am here in 2021 and listen one more time this song... i've listened it thousands of times before, but after 50 years it still remain like something that bring you to one step near heaven's doors and then to the hell's gate. Thank you Deep Purple for all your music
The "gunshot" at 10:02 is the sound of a spring reverb unit being either moved suddenly ( by a kick or fall) or having a very loud signal suddenly passed through it. To those of us who have used and played through spring reverbs, it is a very familiar and unmistakable sound.
For a lonely boy of 16 learning to play drums, this song holds special meaning to me. I'm 67 now and been playing for some 52 years professionally. I used to sit in a small garage apt. my dad built to get me out of the house and boy , did I work the shit out of this song and those of Cream, Led Zepplin and Black Sabbath. And I'm still rocking. Remember that rock and roll will never die, but it's always been a little bit sick. Hee hee.
Ronald Kozaryn Wow, lucky guy. I wonder if you knew names of various sources of reports of the band playing from those early times and where to look for them?
One of my favorite if not my favorite guitar solos. I saw DP on this tour. I think they played just 9 songs but if know DP, you'll understand. I miss guitar solos, drum solos and organ solos. On a different note, we had floor seats, general admission in those days, really close to the stage because the crush of the crowd moved us forward. On Space Truckin' when Gillan was belting out "yeah, yeah, yeah space truckin'...yeah yeah.....some guy next to stage right under Lord was banging his head on the stage. Lord said something about it in an article in Cream or Circus, It was exceptionally loud too.
,,Child in Time,,- это моя юность.

My parents let me go to see them on this tour for my Sixteenth Birthday! Damn I had Awesome Parents! God Bless You Both!
Likely one of the top 5 guitar solos of all times.
The greatest Band of my Time .Ian ,Jon ,Ritchie, Roger and Ian are spezial musicans .
When 2022 gets to be just too much, this brings me back to my youth in a better world.
I'm totally proud of this album born in Japan as one of Deep Purple fans from Japan.
Best live band I’ve ever seen. Jon and Ritchie are improv masters, and Paicey and Rog are the ultimate rhythm section.
I'm so jealous u saw them live. When this came out i was about 9.
Guitar solo by Blackmore has to be the most out of this world, creatively insane of rock history. Takes your breath away...
Listening to Deep Purple even at 68 years. One of my favourite bands.
Time when bands could play and sing live. Without autotune
Saw Deep Purple live in Romford when I was 14, still love this!!!
One of the BEST songs all time!...Made in Japan is legend album
First rock album I bought as a young teen early 70s. Wore it out and bought another. Still have the vinyl. Also had the 8-track tape.
The "gunshot" at 10:02 is the sound of a spring reverb unit being either moved suddenly ( by a kick or fall) or having a very loud signal suddenly passed through it. To those of us who have used and played through spring reverbs, it is a very familiar and unmistakable sound.
My favorite rock band 45 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fantastic song one of the best in rock history!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
45 ?
51 years From 1.968 to 2.019
DEEP PURPLE .......TRUE MONSTERS OF ROCK
1968 bis 1993.
After that, Deep Purple was gone.
Deep Purple is not Deep Purple without Blackmore.
And certainly not without Jon Lord.
Roland Keina unquestionably I agree !!!
6017Alex DP Please, !!! give me any tune that would beat or overwhelm this one !!!
Hee hee.
Made In Japan. What a classic album. Came out in 1972!
I Love it ! ❤ I 'm from Brasil.
From 1968 - 1970 I saw DP in small clubs around London at least 15 times...they are the best.
Ronald Kozaryn wow lucky guy . Got In Rock for 30 p in 74 was blown away👍
Ronald Kozaryn Wow, lucky guy. I wonder if you knew names of various sources of reports of the band playing from those early times and where to look for them?
Deep Purple in Rock is my first album I've heard. It was 1971, and I still listen to this band with pleasure to this day.Deep Purple is forever!!!

Deep Purple!
Deep Purple: Made in Japan is still one of the best live performances ever.
Well, next to Nightwish at Wacken 2013 😉
First heard this through a work colleague when Made in Japan originally came out... Fantastic..Ian paice on drums ...YES !!!?!
the screams of Ian Gillan a milestone in rock history
No male rock vocalist has ever come close to Ian Gillan, in my humble opinion. This performance is extraordinary.
Incredible really

No tengo palabras.
I bought this live in 1972. 9 years old and i think its the best album ever
Totally agree. I’ve played it so many times that I know every note! Best live album ever. Fact!
I had it too @ 12 in 72
Cant stop and will never stop watching. Its a masterpiece. July 2020. Singapore.
Greetings from Manchester England. Have a beautiful day 💙💚💜
