Mee to
John Lord, best organ player ever. Ritchie Blackmore, guitar genius. Ian Gillian, most underrated voice in Rock n Roll. Deep Purple, one of the most unique bands in history.

You only say that cause you haven't seen _me_ play _my_ organ.

Gillan Underrated? I don't think so. He's the f*cking Beast!!!
The accuracy of the sounds is unreal in this performance. Vocals, Guitar, Drums, Keyboard, Base.
One of the all time best songs of the 70's.
I'm 68 and it still blows my mind. Thanks Deep Purple
Concordo plenamente...obra prima do rock... tanto musicalmente, como no vocal Ian Gillan monstro, e Rick blackmorre insubstituíveis...

Ian Gillan is one of the truly great singers. The controlled screams are legendary.
No doubt my friend

Exactly WTF You Moron's at RUclips need to remove your heads out of your ass's !!!
And Robert plant 👍
Oh god, this song is such an out -of-body experience but his falsettos are out of this world
This song is the blueprint for metal. Others had attempted before but every component is here.
Others captured the heavy sound but a key component is the ballad. Heavy Metal became the balladeers of a generation.

no digital fuckery, no autotune, no fake talent, pure artistry
Old school always the greatest☝👍☝👍
well technically the keyboard is auto tuned

Totally brilliant yes!
This is why the 70's music will always be remembered. When it came out on the radio, I bought the single, then later the Album. Smoke on the Water is another of their raw magnificent artistry.
this audience did not yet know that they were participating in one of the greatest performances in the history of music
Probably even the band didn't know
I'm sure they did but there was just so much great music back then they probably just took it for granted.
They look like they didn't even know what they were doing! Almost like they were all dead!!
But they applause @ the end ...

One of the greatest songs ever! Clearly ahead of it's time.

Temple of the king, catch the rainbow, soldier of fortune. Blackmore all the way

I bought this album when I was 13, I am 64 now and that scream still sends chills up my spine!!
Yes sir, I was a kid and loved it.....did not understood the lyrics, but now it takes all its sense. To why I love it.
Holy Crap!! Am 56 and that scream made me have an epiphany that I think King Diamond was influenced by Ian Gillan lol!! I LUV This Performance!
54 here. Same. Christ, makes me tear up and I have no idea why except maybe that nobody does this kind of thing anymore.
God Bless Ian Gillan ❤️🔥
And mine fab rock that stands the test of time
This live is the most perfect version of this song. When I heard first time, I doubt my ears... Incredible screaming and instruments were balanced perfectly without any dissonance. It is real masterpiece!!!
Indeed, a heritage for rock singers - screem your existense like a child in time ...
Of course.... both the screaming and the balancing of the instruments are amazingly perfect...... But it seems to me. that the main thing here is incredible drive..... That is why, in my opinion, this option is the most impressive of all.

Ian Gillan's screams are insanely good here. Considering this is live, it leaves me even more speechless...
No solo tocar y cantar, transmitir emociones.
I loved him with Black Sabbath too
He had a ridiculous vocal range and his screams in this song are haunting. His slow vibrato in this song is great as well. It's definitely an awesome performance!
Screaming in tune is a rare talent, a talent that Mr Gillan has lots of. :))
@@Jason-sm4oc And we love him for it
This content is culturally significant. Posting it on RUclips will ensure that future generations will have access to it and appreciate it. Thank you for sharing it.
I love the sentiment of your comment - but you can't count on a video on the 'Choob lasting past the end of the week, whether it's because of (usually specious) copyright reasons, political reasons (eg, artist, perhaps when drunk or joking, comes out with an 'unfashionable' opinion), or just unfathomable algorithmic reasons that even the platform's code writers don't really understand...
@@richiehoyt8487 Five hundred years from now, I hope this video will still be available for children in time to enjoy. Just to trip out and witness This that was once.

The fact that so many people of different cultures are commenting on this song proves that it's one of the top rock songs of all time.

What I came here to say. They likely don't understand the greatness they are all seeing
I am going to see them live on Saturday! Woo hoo, hope Ian Gillan does this one. I consider myself extremely lucky. The gig has been postponed for 3 years due to covid. Support act are Blue Oyster Cult, who I wasn't that familiar with so been listening to them on youtube. Like them, so looking forward to it. It's not even sold out, so don't agree with the person who said tickets would be going for thousands of pounds. Mine were only 60 odd quid and are row G!!! No idea why they were so cheap. Gig is in Glasgow, Scotland. Maybe we are so mean we refused to pay any more and in other countries they are indeed going for thousands of pounds. Yes there is some truth in the Scottish stereotype I'm afraid! Hehe. Will report back next week. I saw the stones about 5 years ago and they truly put younger bands to shame, I have a feeling these guys are gonna too.
Hot rod , front row parking, Newport Beach , doors open, 8 track playing this as loud as hell
Crowd gathers, seems like none of them have ever heard this song. Their minds are blown, jaws

Oh man, this just put me right back into my old hood as a teen!
Reading through some of these comments, I see heaps of (well earned) praise for Ian Gillain and Jon Lord, as well as Ritchie Blackmore. All deserved, yes… but let’s not forget to share the spotlight with one of the greatest rhythm sections that ever existed - Ian Paice and Roger Glover! 👏👏👏

I was 10 years old Russian boy and played this song from my tape recorder to the whole street through my opened balcony door. This band changed my life, I moved to Canada 30 years later, had a blast during their live concert in Toronto, bought my first electric guitar (now my collection is over 20, plus own branded), learned to play rock and blues. Bought a 6 channel audio system just to play Maching Head DVD Audio disk.. You guys changed soon many lives and soles forever. From The Blacklist S09E20 😍😍😍😍.
The alias Marvin used "Claudis" IRL Claudius was a Roman consul who seemed as weak for a person in past then he start ruling his way to become the emperor.
Episode 20 showed how brillaint strategist Marvin is and how ruthless he can be. He was not like Kate destroying Red's empire and Red by legal works, unrevealing red's crimes. He killed Red's weakness and made him the leader Red needs to be. He killed people who was about to reveal his plot in Red's name.
He was almost killed by Kaplan and got arrested, always took trouble for Red, Red tortured him and now he was about to kill him. Apart from that Marvin was like a backbone for Red's empire like Dembe, Kate, Teddy etc. After all this he will accept Liz as his Boss?? Liz was an unworthy for Red's empire, Marvin could've ran that for Red.
@Geoffrey Morrison According to the history books, Ian Gillan joined Deep Purple in June 1969. The original JC Superstar album was recorded in 1970. But a brilliant choice regardless. Saw Gillan with Deep Purple about 6 years ago - he's still got an amazing voice but it's not quite enough for Child In Time. The band stopped performing it live in 2002.
I liked it when he sang: 'aaaahhhhhh aaaaaHhhhh AAAAAHHHHHHHH' Very popular at the dentist office I bet (assuming they have those in Britain).

I went to a lot of concerts in the 80's and these guys played so loud, my ears would ring for three days. The controlled whaling screens, the vibrations from the organ, the smoke, and lasers with the neon DP logo glowing. It was awesome.
This song represents all the aspects of 70s music: great songwriting, melodic parts, noise, volume changes, velocity changes, improvisation and brilliant instrument playing.
For what it's worth it reflects on the criminality of the Vietnam era, the utter protest of the senseless suicide of those sent to their death's due to the political garbage that's jabbed down the unknowing gullet of souls lost to time.

not just from the UK - there mostly Brummie bands - Mercian quality standing head and shoulders above the rest - from Mordor they arose.

I am born too late.... (2001)
And i hate the music (and everything like houses, cars, clothing and so on) of this time (2023). The music is fucked. The people are fucked. Everybody looks and dress the same. The cars look like clouds. Old cars are more rectangular in shape. I think everything after the year 2000 is wrong or ugly. And from 2000 to now (2023) has gotten worse and its gonna get more worse. I didnt live in the 60s and 70s, but i love the 60s and 70s. I try to have everything of the 60s and 70s or older. And if i had a time machine i will pack my stuff en go. If i cant return back to this time where i live now (2023) i will be happy asf and live a happy life. I am 22 years old now and it was the best to live around my age now (22) in the 60s. Born around 1940-1945 not in 2001. Going to woodstock and monterey pop and live happy. I dont like it here and i understand that "older" people always say "Everything used to be better" (in dutch "vroeger was alles beter"). And i understand there where some bad things happening, but i think every time has bad things. And i like the 60s and 70s more, then how the world is now. Not only the music was better. The cars, houses, clothing are all beautiful. Now everything is ugly. The houses, clothing, music and so on. The difference how people do to each other is so different. And i didnt live in the 60s and 70s, but u truly believe the 60s and 70s where better then it is now. And the people where different. My grandparents are lucky with there age. They were born around 1940-1945, but i dont know why but they didnt like this kind of music and other things.. i will trade and be dead before 2000.😂 (sorry if my english is not very good, thats because i wanna learn, but i only speak dutch and i never speak english or other languages)
Amazing hard rock of all times.
I’m 65 too, a grand dad. When I 1st listen to the song I was only 16yrs old & I’m still listening. His shouting singing are just incredible… Ian Gillan was just a marvellous rock vocalist @ that time, he’s one of the best!
The audience is completely oblivious of what they have witnessed, one the greatest pieces of music in history!
I know!!! No clue. Looks like a church group at the wrong venue!!! Little did they know, they were in the presence of gods!!!!
no autotune, no digital.....just live, legend
Just saw them two days ago in Athens! At almost 80 years old, they still rock! Just amazing! Thank you for wonderful music!
Maybe not too late to catch a live show for me!

Old is gold ❤
how cool to see them in Athens! I'm jealous
I was born in 1970 this song has held up better than me. DP genius
i love Deep Purple , this is a masterpiece of the most iconical hard Rock band of all times
I just love the audience, and how oblivious they seem to be, not knowing that they' re present while history is being written. Amazing. Rock on
@@CarolynK126 Being in a TV audience used to be serious business :)
My thoughts exactly..like they're watching a frog dissection in 3rd grade. Meanwhile, one of the greatest moments of pop culture is unfolding
It's almost like that scene in Back to the Future "I guess you guys aren't ready for that yet" 😂
@@jerm724 yeah, everyone forgets HOW FAST music was evolving at that time. (B/c it doesn't evolve AT ALL any more!)
These people had NEVER EVER heard anything like this! 2 years before they were all singing "PENNY LANE"! A year before this, they were all singing "HEY JUDE"!
Now this EXPLOSIVE HEAVY NOISE ROCK!?!?!
WHAT THE......?
Hm: just the LEAP from 1966 to 1969 may have seen more advancements than the rest of music history combined!
Every musician in this band was excellent and this performance shows how magnificent this band was. That voice though......mind blowing!
Ray Mind y
Octavio Cardenas Alarcon ü
Ray Mind they made the most significant music in the 70'ts that are still allive today
Ray Mind genial
Totally right Ray..
2169 here who's still listening !!❤
What a joy to hear this music again.
This piece is the proof that rock is timeless.
Fuckin right x
Ian Gillian really is one of the greatest singers in band history.
Elestro Air-soft agreed! I loved his vocals.
Absolutely agreed! Gillan is amazing!
The way they stop at the same time after the instrumental part is just perfect...greatest musicians ever.
Legends. I'm all in.
Rock, metal,, going back to reality and moving on trying to turn the hate around. Too little too late. The end is on our doorstep.
🥰🥰🥰
Ha ha you Russians - murderers and war criminals!

Speechless like dumbfounded amazing profound obscure --Deep Purple ..
Epic. No computers, no auto-tune, just a few guys at the top of their game who actually give a shite! Respect.
Pure!
Thats true
Hey f k.y. c'est a dire que voici nous avons un groupe de gars qui nous plaisent beaucoup, qui jouent avec le coeur I talent, I non Pas avec les ordinateurs, effets speciales....pure, great music! Je m'excuse pour mon francais.
This is real Music!
I can live with mainstream music. But when I meet kid's listening to auto tune, something breaks inside me 😣 it's the most horrible thing ever invented. Nuclear bombs are horrible but we do not deploy them on children, on a daily basis
Gillan's voice was just amazing. Great range. Fantastic musicians.
David Gilmoure as well... 😁
magnificent, these are what we call musicians, another era, another world
Thank you Ian for the great songs you made 😊
