    Good video, i just wanted to say that I have been using this wash all summer. I have to point out that their specific wash mit you mention makes a huge difference. That "flat" side of the wash mit seems to buff the ceramic into the paint and helps it bond to the paint. I really like the wash and i'll continue to use it.

  • @richscott2483
    @richscott2483 4 месяца назад +1

    Yes! it does work if you do not dilute Mequair's Hybrid Ceramic Wash and Wax with water and use it at full strength. Pour both the Sio2 and Ceramic Wash together and mix. Spray down your car with water, don't allow the car to dry completely but while still wet use the backside cloth part of the Meguiar's Mitt soaked in the ceramic wash and wax solution with the Sio2, wash your car in sections. Also, allow it to stand for 60 to 90 seconds before rinsing it off. Yeah! it is costly. Use protective (Nitril) gloves for your hands and work in a well ventilated area.

    When used by itself on a vehicle with no protection, I guess that's what you get. However, I've used this on a 1-year old ceramic coated car and had great results. It made my water beading insane! So I'd recommend using this to do maintenance washes on an already coated car but wouldn't personally use it on a non-coated car. Far better products out there for that.
    Great video again! Cheers!!

    I have tried the product. One of their videos I watched stated that the purpose for their 2-sided mitt is the microfiber on the second side is specifically designed to pick up the SIO booster from the surface of the wash mixture as some microfiber it would just sheet off the fibers so you really did not get much on the vehicle. I can say you could tell a difference when following those directions, when washing with the wash side it felt normal, when you flipped the mitt over and started wiping you could feel the "slickness" start to improve. I saw very good beading following those directions. I don't know what to expect as far as longevity but it does appear their mitt does have a very real purpose in obtaining the best results.

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  2 года назад +15

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Let me share my thoughts.
      First, Meguiar’s doesn’t state on the instructions that you absolutely need their special wash mitt. If you absolutely needed it, they should have included it as a kit. And that would make the price go up higher. It’s already expensive for what it is in my opinion.
      I followed the instructions to a T. I actually went above and beyond by watching their own videos on the product and saw they were only drizzling the SiO2 on top and not agitating with a pressure washer afterwards as most people would do. And I even worked the SiO2 into the wssh mitt as per their “tricks” which isn’t even mentioned in the instructions.
      I also stayed near the surface as per their video and didn’t dunk the mitt all the way to the bottom. Again, this isn’t even mentioned in the instructions. So the average consumer wouldn’t even be aware of all the hoops you have to go through to make sure this product works as promised. Can you see how many potential failure points there are here?
      So my conclusions are as follows:
      1. It seems you do need their special wash mitt or a low pile towel. As it’s not written on the bottle, I can imagine how many people will run into the same issues.
      2. If you do need their mitt, the price of owning that system is too expensive in my opinion.
      3. I’m not a fan of ceramic infused shampoos in general, but there are other ones that are less expensive per ounce and work better with no special instructions or tools needed.
      4. The fact that you can’t use this product with common sense and thay you have to learn tricks to use it properly makes no sense to me. This is made for the general public and most people don’t even read the instructions. So for the execution, this product doesn’t do it for me.
      Now, I really like Meguiar’s as a brand and they usually make pretty good products, some being stellar. But this one just didn’t do it for me and that’s ok. I respect other opinions and if it works for you, keep on using it. 👍🏻
      At least we can share our thoughts and opinions in a respectful manner. That is appreciated.
      Cheers!

      but the question is, is it worth it over just shampoo/booster for about the same price? Say, something like ethos resist/gyeons si02 drying aid/bead maker etc. that is quick to apply when drying.

    • @dbrooks750
      @dbrooks750 2 года назад +1

      @@PanTheOrganizer I agree, they should rewrite the instructions to note that if you don't use the mitt you will be missing an unknown percentage of whatever benefits it has. I can understand them not bundling as a mitt should last for more than one bottle. I tried it as I needed to do a quick cleanup on a vehicle that needed some protection until the weather allowed me to do a more thorough cleanup, I too prefer a single purpose wash in most cases.
      It will definitely not be my goto product but nice to have on hand for when it will be useful. I also agree the price is too high at normal retail, I ran across a promotion and was able to purchase the bottle and the mitt for around $22 USD.

    • @bradley-q2h
      @bradley-q2h 2 года назад +1

      I think you can achieve better results for a similar price by using a pure shampoo and a dedicated spray sealant or spray coating like the ones you mentioned. I think if you can spare an extra 30 minutes to an hour on top of the washing process, going with Pans preference will yield more benefits.
      What many people don't understand with these products is that they perform best when the car is prepped properly. Pan mentioned it in this video but having a pre-wash and claying or using an iron removal product will create a fresh surface for the protection to bond to. Cheers!

    Worked great for me. Using their mitt really makes the experience great. Wash with noodle side then flip and wipe microfiber side then rinse. Beaded like crazy and no I had no protection on the paint. I intentionally did it this way to see how well it really worked. Try again with their mitt and results will be better

    • @PurcellsProDetail

      I might have to try their mitt. I reviewed as well and had bad results. Only decent when adding extra sio2 boost

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  2 года назад +1

      The fact you would need to use their mitt, or a special mitt for that matter, just makes this a product I can't recommend. Also keep in mind most people don't even read instructions, and even less on a what is just supposed to be a shampoo. I think Meguiar's made this too complicated in my opinion, when there are other less expensive products that you don't have to jump through hoops to use. But again, just my 2 cents. And that's coming from a guy who actually likes Meguiar's products. I think they could have done better here.

      @@PanTheOrganizer oh I dont disagree. I personally dont like the idea of having to flip the mitt after washing and find that quite annoying but I havent tried using just a microfiber mitt with out noodles to see if that would work better. If I remember correctly, I think for the best results you actually have to use Mequire's special Microfiber mitt since it's double sided and one of the sides is what activates the Sio2 the best. Maybe a retest with the mitt to see if there is an improvement?

      The brand reached out and also said the use of their specific wash mitt is crucial to the process. Well they should have included that with the bottle. Anyhow, many of my viewers also reported the same issues they weren't satisfied. And I think Meguiar's realized this, as they now sell an updated version in a yellow bottle, and no need to mix two components anymore. This version: amzn.to/4dBafnM

      The strange thing is, I didn’t even put too much effort into following the instructions, I did watch their videos, so made sure I didn’t mix the booster in at the same time as the shampoo, or spend that much effort priming the mitt🤦‍♂️
      Like I said before, I’ve not tried it on an untreated car, but it definitely clears off of the car nicer & makes it easier to dry.
      I have found that if I leave it on a black car too long before rinsing it off, I can get something left behind on the paint. Not sure how best to describe it, but it’s a pain to get off.

    Hi everyone,
    Thanks Pan for this. I had not watched this video before using this product (in Adelaide Australia last month - April 2022) and also did not have the correct (recommended) mitt to apply it with. I simply used a foam sponge, and then within around 15 seconds just low pressure hosed the panel without even trying to work in into the surface after wiping it on. The result was vastly superior to what I saw in this video. I really cant fault this product. The paint was similar to what you had as well so I am a little confused as to why it didn't work for you. With simply one application and a gentle hose off the results were SUPER! I will now have a look at all the results below and see if anyone else feels the same way. I am very impressed with the product and after a month the car still looks very good for such an easy one step process : - )
    Once again, thanks for the video. It is good to get other opinions.
    Graham - Australia.

    Pan, I think you need the Hybrid microfibre wash mitt from Meguiar's to for a good result

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  2 года назад +2

    I just bought this stuff yesterday , and I love it. My 23 x3M bmw is black with black wheels, and I like how this works. I didn’t add 3 cap fulls of the soap like you did. I added 1 cap full of the soap and a .5 oz of the ceramic to the 3 gal bucket, however my car was already protected. As soon as I applied the wash solution to my car it was already beading.

    I think the key to using this is to apply the SIO2 boost to an already wet microfibre cloth so it is not as diluted. In their own video, their wash mit is already in the bucket and appears the SIO2 boost is poured onto the wash mit and then directly transferred to the car.

    Hi Pan. Im a big fan of you and your video's.
    But for this test you should try it on a coated surface.
    Here in the Netherlands they are selling this as a kit. The shampoo comes with a 2 sided mitt.
    That mitt really makes the difference. When you decide to do a test with this product on a coated car, make the mixture with your hands and not wih a pressurewasher.

However, you should at least use it properly before judgement. The flaw in your technique is that you can use the noodle style wash mitt but you need to wipe it down (with the washing liquid) once again with a low pile microfibre sponge. Drying it with a towel is not the right way. The second pass is to spread ceramic coating hence why they have the double sided mitt for this product. Love to see you give it another go.

    Question? Should there be a curing time after wiping dry, then hose down and check. The Pressure washer too forceful and removes the Sio2 hydrophobic ability. Overall, the results seemed very poor. Someone commented that Meguiar's was acquired by 3M and we all know how acquisitions go, more Cons than Pros.
    Personally, there are no shortcuts to properly wax a vehicle. Expecting to wash and obtain a waxing effect does not seem adequate. I have never really liked the molecular chemical bond of wax with Silicone. I was a Meguiar's product user for a few years but found that Turtle Wax products are better. Chemical Guy's only product worthwhile is their Microfiber Towels. Adam's has only the Detailer Spray (Pink stuff). 303 and Armor All is garbage. Don't like Mothers, Griots is iffy. The Car Care market is a mixed bag as some stuff works or used to be good and they stopped making it or the recipe changes. Truth is, most products do not live up to the performance hype. People never were too concerned about their vehicle's paint appearance 40 to 60 years ago. We washed and waxed it and that was all, people were content. Waste of time and money on Car Care products and not many work as advertised.

    22:20 EXACTLY! Nice review Pan as always going at it with real world demos showcasing the product!
    I agree, honestly not to throw shade to any brands, respectfully, I think Soaps "infused" with wax/seal/si02 are just a scam. Even if the product did work, to think that you would have to wash your whole car with that soap and once you get to the dry process a film is left on the surface. Not to mention, if you miss a spot, it will leave some very harsh streaks that are difficult to remove, especially on glass, which will just cake your towels with "infused" residue.
    So thanks Pan for coming out with an honest opinion and glad you and I agree with these kinds of things.

      Yeah it seems you would need their specific wash mitt for optimal results. And that brings the total cost up quite a bit. They should have included the mitt in a package if they knew it was that important in my opinion.

      @@PanTheOrganizer I totally agree, after watching this review and Meguiars own commercial. I’m taking it back today. I like heavy foam in the bucket and I’m not a fan of mixing wax inside the wash bucket.

    Seems more fussy than just using a good shampoo, then the hybrid ceramic wax spray as a drying aid. That gives me good results, and doesn't require a two solution bottle with special wash mitt techniques wrt high or low pile microfiber.

    You really do need to use the Meguiar's dual side wash mitt to get the full results otherwise your results will not be good with this products. So I feel like this review could have been better if it was done the way Meguiar's says.

I can imagine how many people will run into the same issues.
      Cheers!

    FYI, i do not like spending a lot of time cleaning my car, SO: when rain is forecasted for the day, i will "slather" a combo cleaner/wax on my car, outside of course. then when it rains it will remove dirt and looks pretty good. not nearly as clean as clay barring, but then i spent less than 10 minutes smearing the car with the cleaner/wax fluid.
    i call it "the lazy man's car wash". i mostly garage my car, but will use this method when really needed.

    I currently use the Meguiars Ultimate line from compound to Fast Finish. I've been think if going to Turtle Wax Hybrid flex line.
    However since I have so much Ultimate line that will probably last, for my one car only, it will be some time before I go to that expense.
    I really enjoy all you product reviews and your videos on how to maintain a car property. 🤠🇺🇸Texas says hi and great work. Believe I'll stay with the Ultimate line for a while. My cars 12 years old in 2022 and almost as clean as it was when bought new.

    Hmmmm.... The only thing I saw straight away was that it enhanced the swirls on the bonnet or hood... I think it would be best used as part of a line of Meguires products as a maintenance wash once the car has been ceramic or graphene waxed..??? And use the specific Meguires wash mitt.
