Oh I've always had a soecial place in my heart for the Rogue Traders. Glad I happened upon a brand new copy of the 40k Rogue Trader omnibus they took out of print years ago.

Money is Money. And in this case StarForged are the Licensed Rogue Traders, and Arch is the profitable Heretic they've enlisted for their commercial endeavors.
Rogue Traders are one of the most interesting and overlooked parts of 40K lore. The fact that the rights are HEREDITARY is what makes it so ludicrously powerful. They were also the subject of an interesting 40K RPG, also the only one where having Xenos party members made any sense. That book also provides some of the only stats that exist for Imperial ships in terms of weight and size, even if the numbers make zero sense (small ships would need to have the density of balsa wood in order for their stats to make sense, and the numbers given for the larger ships would require them to be so thin that an ordinary man could probably tear the hull apart with his bare hands).
I think it's safe to say I've finally found the faction in 40k I genuinely favor. Especially since I'm not the keenest on Inquisitors ever, but will have peace with even the most zealous of the devout so long as they have peace with me, it just kinda fits. I absolutely loved the advertising sponsor (infinitely better than Raid) and actually somewhat tempting. However, Arch's comment at 1:15 "since it's all officially licensed merchandise from Games Workshop you can be assured of the quality" sounded like a legitimate piss-take.
I have a Question. Based on the fact that history in wh40k is a little bit murky, people forget or made forget and often people just agree that something is real thing without understanding why I have some question about signatures of a warrant of trade. What is if it is signed by the Primarch of the II, XI or XVI Legion. Or by any other Treator Primach before the fall. Like everything is fine, all the sigils and codes are the correct one ... just the Primach is ... unknown.
During the Great Crusade the warrants were signed by Big E himself, so no warrants made by primarchs (and zero possibility for the 2nd and 11th). After Big E sat down, only loyalist primarchs would sign warrants.
Imagine how annoying it must be for someone to try and go after a Rogue Trader who has a paper signed by the actual God Emperor not in his name but one of the ones signed by the actual Emperor. Any case against them would probably be difficult.

One point of contention, I would imagine they don’t make rogue traders out of anyone as it would be pretty hard for a random under-hive ganger to find his way into ownership of a warpship they can use to fulfill their warrant of trade. You probably already need to have the resources, or at the very least a very convincing plan for obtaining them, to complete the task which means it’s not so much taking someone random off the streets and giving them untold riches and freedom. If you own straight up own a warpship you are probably already absurdly wealthy, even if it’s not particularly fancy and even if you can only operate in a certain area. Therefore it’s less a lottery and more a way to reward the truly exceptional and encourage further exploits if your the emperor/one of his sons. If you are a high lord then you are probably just using it to keep the empires elite in sector what’s-it on side by giving someone’s kid a license to dress like a tool and have an Eldar waifu so long as the inquisition doesn’t come knocking.
Arch, you forgot to note that the first Rouge Traders were the individuals Big E wanted off of Terra, but didn't want to outright kill, so he gave them a Warrent and told them to go be a scout force for the Great Crusade, with the added benefits.
I believe it's just the imperial seal. So like a stamp in a way that means the emperor's word. Still kinda used today for other things like inquisitors. I think anyway.

I have 2 theories for the "Help of 2:45". 1. Arch is a genius, and knows people will hear the help, go into the comments, like other comments mentioning it, make their own comments, all of which is feeding the algorithm, getting more people to see this video, more people hearing the help, go into the comments etc. 2. The inquisition is somehow nefariously to blame.
19:30 I’m somewhat skeptical of that. With so many worlds, people, and materials surely there would be quite a bit of exotic and luxury goods to trade with. Otherwise what are the imperial aristocrats and adeptus terra wearing most of the time?
See the galaxy firsthand, meet new faces and xenos, collect cool trinkets and make a profit using them or selling them, making all new wild and varied friends, all without the stupid regulations of the Imperium. Yup, this is the best job in the galaxy.
Honestly out of everything to do in 40K this would have to be up there with Inquisitor or being in an inquisitorial retinue for what I’d want to do most
Rumor has it that when the high lords of Terra wish to revoke a warrant of trade they order the Blood Ravens to fight in the same sector as the rouge trader’s house until the warrant disappears from the rouge trader’s vault and into the Blood Ravens vault.

Finally, an actual good ad. Always welcome. Ever so rare.
Arch, you forgot to note that the first Rouge Traders were the individuals Big E wanted off of Terra, but didn't want to outright kill, so he gave them a Warrent and told them to go be a scout force for the Great Crusade, with the added benefits.
I wonder how the emperor signed his name back in the day.... did he use his name or did he just write a big E as his signature...
Did anyone else catch the “help” that just popped up at 02:46?
Hate to be the tenth man here but what if that "Help" is something serious? He may have made some serious enemies with that april fools...
Starforged is Arch's sponsor, which means GW indirectly sponsors Arch. Pretty funny that.
A rogue trader strategy game would be so good. Similar to mechanicus
This is one of the first sponsorships where Ill actually buy the thing
There is a rogues trade game coming soon. From the beta and alpha play throughs it looks to be really solid and capture rogue traders really well.
The dread Rouge traders, with their remarkably lifelike blushes.
Here's a question: what did The Emperor sign his name as? Did he just write "The Emperor" on the dotted line? Or is there an actual name there?
I believe it's just the imperial seal. So like a stamp in a way that means the emperor's word. Still kinda used today for other things like inquisitors. I think anyway.
It was an ornate capital i, which was short of Imperator.
So like many contracts someone was saying “ Initial at the bottom of every page”
Currently writings story about a massive imperial incursion into a lost sector. 100+ rogue traders from all over the galaxy are sent into to recover lost planets
Thank you for this episode. You've given us very detailed info on rogue traders. Most descriptions haven't gone into as much depth as you did in this episode of your you tube channel.
Fucking finally, I've been literally waiting YEARS for you to do an episode on rogue traders.
What the he'll is that ARCH MEAOW at 2:47??!!!!
34:37 - The Sisters of Battle in the case of the Ordo Hereticus.
Rouge trader's, how interesting.
What moved these trader's to adopt the same color.
I wonder what the Emperor signed as? Did he use his birth name? Or just “Emperor”.
2:44 What was that kind of scream in that part?
Fun fact, the free traders as a concept were lifted directly from Asimov's foundation series.
What was that random sound at 2:45?
Arch... Rouge is a shade of red.
19:30
I’m somewhat skeptical of that.
With so many worlds, people, and materials surely there would be quite a bit of exotic and luxury goods to trade with.
Otherwise what are the imperial aristocrats and adeptus terra wearing most of the time?
Toasters

"No." [Insert David Lynch image here]
@@theliato3809 too bad, it's a tremendous channel directly addressing what you put in your comment, and your loss
@@cosmictreason2242Ive tried but his content just comes across as being a killjoy for me.
See the galaxy firsthand, meet new faces and xenos, collect cool trinkets and make a profit using them or selling them, making all new wild and varied friends, all without the stupid regulations of the Imperium. Yup, this is the best job in the galaxy.
2:44 What was that bug I heard there?
hey arch thanks for providing hrs on hrs of audios always thankfull for the entertainment
Oh yeah new sponsor! About time we got someone other than Raid paying for sponsorships!
I Hope Arch continues his Rogue Trader play through after the full release.
Maybe a Lurking Hunger continuation too...
Rouge is a color. Rogue is a class.
Honestly out of everything to do in 40K this would have to be up there with Inquisitor or being in an inquisitorial retinue for what I’d want to do most
2:46 - 2:48, does anyone else here help?
Rumor has it that when the high lords of Terra wish to revoke a warrant of trade they order the Blood Ravens to fight in the same sector as the rouge trader’s house until the warrant disappears from the rouge trader’s vault and into the Blood Ravens vault.
Then the rogue trader steals the blood ravens planet…. Touché muddafakka!!!

Stealing an Astarties home world.
The not rouge trader house (they don’t have a warrant of trade remember) will have stepped on the Astarties’ rights of self rule and autonomy.
There’s stupidity and there’s insane stupidity. As a dozen Astarties chapters March to war against the former rouge trader house with the High Lords supporting them and laughing all the way.
Holy shit that video thumbnail is blowin’ ma mind!! I had now idea Justin Whang was a Rogue Trader!!!! Actually makes perfect sense.
"And since it's all official licence from Games Workshop, you can be assured of the quality"
*nervous laughter*
Who knew rouge would be such hot commodities in the 41st millenium.
I love that you keep posting mate.
I was SO hoping for a video about cosmetic salesmen. 😒
Orks know that rouge traders go faster.
