      @@adelinenmemo It's common to have this happen because rescue treatments like IVIG and platelet transfusions only work temporarily to get the platelet count out of the danger zone. Also the steroids they usually give you at the hospital initially are quickly tapered after you go home. Most of the time the platelets will start to crash back down again within a week or two. This then requires longer term treatment with steroids and slow taper (if you're responsive to them) and/or adding other treatments like Rituxan or Promacta (if you have great insurance). Hope you're recovered or stable by now. I am an ITP patient as well (twice had platelets less than 3 over 15 yrs, but perfect remission in between with platelets over 300, and back in remission now - achieved with 3-4 months of prednisone with slow taper after hospital rescue treatments both times). Good luck!

    • @PeydaPete
      @PeydaPete 2 года назад +1

      @@yollyobsequio8379 Overall, I am fine. Though it's a bit complicated in my case. My numbers are really low but I have no symptoms at all. I'm fine in my everyday life, however in some cases (e.g. surgery) I need to get an infusion beforehand and I might need to take some drugs in case of an accident or something. It's more of an annoyance than anything, but then again it depends on what you do for a living or your hobbies.
      If you think, you have ITP yourself, you should definitely talk to a doctor about it. Depending on your actual values, treatment can vary a lot and it might also only be acute and not chronic.

    I appreciate your mentioning that ITP is not just platelet destruction but also reduced production. I think the theory is that the megakaryocytes are destroyed before they can even become platelets. I’m also told its now known as Immune TP not idiopathic.

    Great video but it seems to fail to mention elevated platelet counts can result from rare MPN's such as polycythaemia vera or essential thrombocythemia and early stage myelofibrosis. High platelets can also be a result of an auto immune disorder. Anyway thanks for your video it was very informative. Just found one of your other video "Haematopoesis and Myeloproliferative Disorder - Overview" great work.

      If you ever had a vaccine, that is the cause. But they will never say that’s what it’s from. Almost all conditions are caused by vaccines, but they won’t teach you that in medical school. Most doctors don’t know this because they weren’t taught this. But this is why.
