This video has some errors that should be reviewed. In order for the intrinsic pathway to work properly you need calcium (Ca2+) not just for factor X activation, but from the start at factor XII. Nitric oxide prevents platelet aggregation not adhesion by blocking GP2b/3a. If the platelet is binding to the endothelial lining (adhesion) and you want to prevent this, vWF or GP1b would have to be blocked, typically a heparin drug is used. Not only is protein C needed to keep blood from clotting but so is Protein S. They both inhibit factor V & VIII. Overall hemostasis and coagulation is broken down into 3 steps not 5; Primary hemostasis: formation of platelet plug due to damage, Secondary hemostasis: formation of fibrin clot and repair, Tertiary fibrinolysis: breakdown of clot.

@@xavierxrcYeah there are so many mistakes here that this video has actually made it harder to study. Even more than what you listed. TPA is not streptokinase, steps are missing or numbers or pathways are wrong. If you're trying to study for a test, watch this once for the big picture at most, and then use your book and study materials for the foundational details before you start to solidify mistakes and have to unlearn them.
I am simply amazed at the fact you collected this vast amount of medical knowledge and thorough understanding which enabled you to explain in simple language even a child can understand. The multitude of subjects you have covered is usually in medical text books in hundreds of pages of several chapters. How in the world were you able to absorb that knowledge? With people like you, pretty soon every human being will become his own doctor! They just have to view Ninja Nerd Science videos on RUclips!

they do it purposely... srsly.. i have realized this... a lot of PHD's do not want to teach but they have to teach for money ofcourse and because they had shit dng the phd they purposely make stuff look confusing and hard for students because their very intent is not to teach... My professor taught us a great trick to remember the intrinsic pathway coagulation factors. Work 8 to 12 and take a break at ten to go to the common. Great video! It was very helpful to review the whole process step by step. Definitely following and checking out more of your videos!

Very nice video, however you're incorrect about how the coagulation cascade is initiated in vivo. Tissue factor derived from endothelial cells and fibroblasts forms a tenase complex with activated factor VII which cleaves factor X and IX. The thrombin produced here when factor X cleaves prothrombin kickstarts the intrinsic pathway by activating factor XI (among other things) but also drives fibrinogen cleavage through initiation of the common pathway. The intrinsic factor is of little importance in vivo but used in vitro for analysis of aPTT.
