    If anyone can still see this, my husband was first diagnosed with TTP 2014 relapsed 2021 and just now august 2023. We would really really like to meet with a specialist with this, as our hematologist just doesn’t have the experience with TTP.

      it causes headaches because it obstructs the blood flow due to formation of blood clots in the small arteries

    does removing spleen helps?

    • @iarinaspineanu7328
      @iarinaspineanu7328 8 месяцев назад +1

      yes it can help, but it's not the first option, first line treatment is plasmapheresis and plasma transfusions, and if those fail the next option is splenectomy.

    But why do they have thrombocytopenia?

    • @iarinaspineanu7328
      @iarinaspineanu7328 8 месяцев назад +1

      most of the platelets are used to form blood clots and because this process is continuous and the bone marrow can"t keep up with the production of new platelets, this results in thrombocytopenia. hopefully this helps xx
