Bernard-Soulier Syndrome (BSS) is an autosomal recessive (AR) disorder characterized by a defective GP1b platelet receptor leading to a problematic platelet adhesion process (primary hemostasis).
Glanzmann Thrombasthenia (GT) is an autosomal recessive defect in the GPIIb/IIIa (GP2b/3a) receptor on the platelet which leads to defective platelet aggregation.
Ristocetin Cofactor Assay (RIPA) is usually abnormal in cases of Bernard-Soulier Syndrome (BSS).
Bleeding time is prolonged, platelets are big in size, but few in number (Macrothrombocytopenia).

you know, I have to have this.....
Hey, I used to hear that low platelets could cause irritable skin and more pain; however I have been actively told by one out of 4 hematologists that I’m making that up entirely.
Is it a real thing?
“Idiopathic which means we are idiots and we cannot figure out the pathology.“ “Intellectuals and their verbal virtuosity.” “I think I should stop talking.” LOVE IT! 🤣
I just discovered your videos and I've been blown away. You're truly gifted.
Thank you so much 😊

Thank you so much 😊
Like the "medicine make sense once you understand what the flip you're talking about." Busted out laughing. Making me more motivated to learn this for my class. :P

I appreciate it!
Why are most of Professors not good at teaching?LOL

Thank you for the excellent video. You should make a PDF book that collects and summarise all your lecture series. I would happily buy it. Keep up the excellent work.
Having ITP really sucks. I’m 14 and was diagnosed at age 7, so I’ve had it about half my life. This was an amazing description, I couldn’t have done it better! I showed it to my friend when she just wouldn’t understand and it got to her. Thanks!
Thank you 🙏
I understand when I was younger I got diagnosed but I'm still doing ok we got this
I just realized I’ve had it for 75% of my life now.
why i am laughing and studying at the same time .. it never happened before !! loved it

Dang! It really was the best video about ITP.
Also, besides the autoinmune diseases and HIV or HCV infections, i was thaught that the children frequently have a lower airway respiratory viral infecction previous to developing mild ITP.
Thank you so much 😊
You're right, viral illness comes before ITP in children.

Are there only anti-GPIIb/IIIa antibodies in ITP or against Ib as well? Because you mentioned autoantibodies against 2b/3a but peripheral smear MACR-thrombocytes which are in 1b disease or Bernard diseas.
you're humour really made learning fun thank you ❤❤

i also have another question. so you mentioned that ITP is caused by autoantibodies against Gp2b/23, but on the table you showed at6:46 ITP is also caused by autoantibodies attacking Gb1b. so it could be caused by both right? thank you
