Unpopular opinion: I actually like watching games with stax pieces, because it forces players to get more creative and figure out new strategies to win
I play both Magic and Yu-gi-oh, and I genuinely enjoy Magic stax, I think it’s a lot of fun and is often not too overbearing (though I’m personally not a fan of Drannith Magistrate), whereas Yu-gi-oh is very fuck you and sometimes has stax that basically says “you’re not allowed to play.” Magic does it better for sure.
"Wow what amazing webcams everyone has..." Then I see Jay spilling over onto Travis' board and realize, yeah, that's just the normal camera. Looks great!
@@Eruedraith127 not really, he has a high market in play. But it is a pretty nice sac outlet for many turns that is not removable, since suspending it is a special action and can’t be responded to. (Learned that just now after reading suspend rules)
I debated it and in hindsight I should have wheeled. If I went first I would have done it (didn't want jay to have a fresh 7 after vomiting out alot of lands) or if I would have had crypt or chrome mox etc because at the end of the wheel i would have had 1 land and a tapped vault. I wanted to keep my mana vault for a kraum cast and to get ragavan down to swing before blockers were up.
Game 1 shows the power of Gemstone. It was a delicious victory! Game 2: I felt sorry for Jay's turn order. It would have been a very different game if he went 1st!
@@DefCatofficial Brooooo! I'm a Mono G player too (Ashaya, so not all that different). Every rock they dropped on T1 was a stab for me as a spectator! Argh. So happy to see Yisan in this channel, thanks for representing
with infinite mana and Rocco with a sacrifice outlet, you could also just recast him searching for the creatures you want. His line works as well, but it's a longer way.
@@archerjagv2993 It's a standard line for all the POD decks, so it's hardly something he needs to practise doing, but I hear you. Also I think it's for the content and not the easiest way win.
First game, if I was blue farm I would’ve played that hand sooooo much differently, T2 wheel 100% of the time over Kraum. He clearly watched homie tutor for reversal, should’ve read that immediately, no one wants reversal if they don’t have scepter already..
Looking at the board state I don't know that I would have countered the Seedborn Muse in Zach's position there, it prevented him from being able to interact with the Fury that ended up winning Alan the game
Yeah for sure I wish i would have done that differently. My main goal at that point being behind though was to get thassas into my yard before my turn to try to reanimate if I could find a way to bounce the drannith. It was ineffective though.
that kruam cast was the greeeeeeeeeeediest thing i ever seen, without knowing his hand, he did just tutor t zero for dramatic reversal, he should have cast the skyclave from exile and removed the thrasios
why do people still rely on temur sabertooth so much still. emiel is more mana efficient and doesnt require casting, allowing you to get infinite treasures through rule of law effects and gets around rustic study.
alan didnt have to do the vivien line, he had an imperial recruiter could have just grabbed kiki off rocco and then copied the recruiter to grab felidar. 3 cards less.
I play Rocco. The ending combo was unnecessary. Use Temur Sabertooth to make infinite treasures yes, but then just bounce Rocco with sabertooth and recast Rocco to get Kiki-Jiki, bounce Rocco with sabertooth to get Village Bell-ringer or felidar guardian. Just seemed weird
Proxy wins are dishonorable. You are only hurting yourself by not learning to actually play the game. Any deck can win at any given time when played by a well practiced player.
I try so hard to enjoy cEDH videos... but its the same 5 or 6 wincons among the same few colors and in most cases the commanders don't mean a thing, other than color identity.

cEDH without stax is basically playing solitary until you find your win cons. Stax and counters is what gives this game real meaning.
Keyword here is WATCHING
I love watching and playing against stax. It ends up being far more interesting than a turbo thoracle
Agree, after seeing Thalia and the gitrog monster I think it will be the best stax commander ever
Looking at greedy hands getting punished is so satisfying.
Arguably the greediest of them won the game in the end
I do forget that Thrasios is a merfolk WIZARD, so I guess it makes sense that the classic LIghtning Bolt is a fitting flavor win condition.
"Wow what amazing webcams everyone has..."

Game two was actually really good to watch
I love how a grizzly bear grinded the game to a halt for so many turns.
That sneaky Chalice of the Void!
LOVE those treasure tokens you showed! Latin is always a nice way to make things fancy.
Oh neat I met Jay and Alan in Philly!
hey bb
Early squad member reporting in. Thanks for the video :)
Love seeing Rocco win, deck is so sick
Really love the Naya creature decks. Good stuff.
I am a simple guy. I see Yisan in the title, I watch.
Thank you! thats me!
Watching the ouphe play with no turn one land was so bold and so cool to see
Please, bring more games with Yisan.🎻
That was Alan from Roll For Crypt???? :O
it is ! he lives near us!
I'm surprised Alan didn't feed his useless treasures to Gargadon so he could start murdering people while they were locked out.
Thought so too, then realized that gargadon was his only way to crack arena rector

Hey Zach! If you see this, why didn’t you do a turn 1 wheel of fortune in game 1? Disrupting the opponents hands before they get a turn.
I debated it and in hindsight I should have wheeled. Brooo I was big sad. Mono green can't win from 4th most of the time. Just how it is. (Dat me btw)

@Axel Shaw Is my deck is almost fully altered for every creature!
Love the big dices! Are these casino dices? Where did you guys get those?
Yes they are! You can buy them on Amazon.
Where is the lightning bolt in the deck list for thrasios rhogak? Was it a late addition?
fattest Collector Ouphe of all time 🙌

I guess it’s for practicing the normal line you do without infinite mana.

he didnt even need to get arena rector. could just bounced rocco to hand with sabertooth....
It always blows my mind how one creature locks the game down in cEDH for so many turns.
Can we have a funeral for Travis's second game?
F
Really getting the itch to lose some CEDH watching these, great job team!
Is yisan actually a good commander? im new, and i own a copy so was gonna make a mono green.
Hehe good Thrasios Dramatic Scepter win X)
Sickkkkkk

Technically Travis wasn't locked out from Drannith Magistrate when he has a lightning bolt. He just chose to keep the Stax piece around
No Toraclr win! Noice! I enjoyed that. ^^
Bro what was that second game lol Loved it
couldn't alan just have search for kiki jiki and felidar guardian with rocco? did he have to pod?
game 2 was awesome
Looking at the board state I don't know that I would have countered the Seedborn Muse in Zach's position there, it prevented him from being able to interact with the Fury that ended up winning Alan the game
bro i gave him so much shit for that
@@DefCatofficial understandable, it definitely seemed like the wrong play in the moment and in hindsight it was definitely the wrong play

Rocco is soo resilient
Woah woah woah. Who is uncapable of naming ALL 151 of them?
Rocco gives me such sweet seratonin
12:37 i though he couldn't counter with force of will since calice of the void was on the battle field with 0 counter
It’s cmc is still 5. You are casting it for an alternate cost of pitching a blue card plus 1 life.
Early Squad
It’s funny how wheel of fortune would have stopped the win
I am surprised no one had any interaction with the fast thrassios win game 1.
Zach had a wheel in hand after dramatic reversal was tutored for by Travis, I’m not quite sure why he didn’t cast it on T2
Chalice of the void is such a great card, except in that last game heh
hahha
Hell yeah, love me a good stax game
Great channel name. You forgot one thing. Reprint the reserve list!!! Hear hear!!!
Damn I think the second game had the saddest land draws I have ever seen
Yisan...like bringing a dull spork to a rocket fight.
Yeah I took It apart the next week no gunna lie
Is it me or até always the same decks?
I just don’t get why Alan didn’t just with unlimited mana just go kikki and felidar verses doing a longer loop with Vivian and arena rector.
Same. Just bounce Rocco with Temur Sabertooth. Not sure why the long combo
that kruam cast was the greeeeeeeeeeediest thing i ever seen, without knowing his hand, he did just tutor t zero for dramatic reversal, he should have cast the skyclave from exile and removed the thrasios
Gameplay starts at 1:58
Totally off topic.. but always weirds me out seeing ads for the eugenics simulator game.
Why did Jay fetch the ouphe on his turn if he wasn’t going to play it
He did it again with magus 😅
Omg why did he float three mana then cast expedition map for 1 and not crack it 😅 I’m so confused
why do people still rely on temur sabertooth so much still. emiel is more mana efficient and doesnt require casting, allowing you to get infinite treasures through rule of law effects and gets around rustic study.
Jesus yisan time walked like 5 times and couldn't get the win
alan didnt have to do the vivien line, he had an imperial recruiter could have just grabbed kiki off rocco and then copied the recruiter to grab felidar. 3 cards less.
He could have just bounced Rocco with Temur Sabertooth and went to get Kiki and Felidar that way
