    Winston's disposition is very endearing. His tail is always wagging, so he must be a very happy dog. I've noticed that whenever he gets too far ahead of you, he'll stop and wait for you to catch up. Also, he carries his toy with him like a child with a security blanket. How can you not adore a pet like Winston?!

    The midges might have been getting in because they're small enough to enter through normal insect screen mesh. You see 'midge mesh' advertised specifically to keep them out. Just a thought.

    What about a small candle on the worktop maybe in a proper candle container. An internet search came up with the following, ‘Citronella, peppermint oil, lavender and eucalyptus can all be used to repel midges by spraying your equipment or surroundings and even diluting for personal use. Citronella candles can be used to prevent midges from closing in on a localised area. So a candle or maybe those scented sticks in a jar of peppermint oil?

    • @Roz.S
      @Roz.S  Месяц назад +1

      I don’t think I’d want a candle in my pod. It’s just too easy to knock it over in such a small space, or something from the overhead racks could fall on it. Oil may be a good shout though 👍🏼

    Reminds me for a bit of a camping in Picardie France. Went there with a friend in a tent and just as in your video we had a spot near a little lake.

    Some window fly screen meshes are not small enough to resist a midge invasion. However once inside, the screens prevent their escape, it seems.
    Midges even attack the locals so we tourist have no chance.

      It says on the box that the yellow light is a "mosi safe amber light that is non attracting" 🤔🤔 Not sure if that includes midges. My theory was that the yellow light would stop them coming in, and then when I went to bed and turned the light out, the blue light would zap the ones that were inside. That was my plan anyway 😅

Because they are so tiny, is the mesh on on your windows fine enough?,.o5 of 1 mm to stop them getting in,?same for the pop top?half of 1 mm is tiny!i mean that is the smallest of them! If you determined that most of them were getting in through your main door as you come and go,you could buy what we called in the meat industry,,an air knife,or air curtain,.these fitted over the top of the door opening, plugged in,and blew a door wide volume of air down to the floor,an air curtain that you could walk through but flies and midgies etc couldn,t fly threw,much like a handdryer in restrooms,but not quite as noisy.,maybe not.?eheh.midgies love to lay their eggs in damp moist soil around water etc.i,ll do somd reseach for you on door overhead downdraft fans,.they come in a range of sizes.industrial to retail doorways.you would easily find them youself.!years ago here in australia,many butcher shops used them over their doorways,but they fell out of favour,i think rearranging LADIES $150 plus hair styles had a bit to do with it.bye for now be well respect.

    So glad you got to Glentrool. I recommend it to you a few months back. Absolutely gorgeous place especially at night but sad you got all the midges. We went in May a few years back and had none. Although it's jumped massively in price since we visited. (They've invested heavily in more luxury statics so that could be why).

    Really enjoying your reviews. Think you are just about spot on with the ballance between facts and personal stuff. And your productions are high quality. Amazing how many are left down by poor audio and editing. Glad a local backed me up about the hauntings. Glad you didn't get spooked, you seem very rational. Maybe one day I'll tell you the story of National Trust Basildon Manor that I experienced as a volunteer. Hello you two ,
    Great video, beautiful old ruins, something I did as a child, went through old tunnels or in caves, I still find it exciting.
    One of the tormenting insects I've heard is that if you spread tea tree oils on the door, not so many of them will come in, or rosemary should help just the smell to drive them away, but I'm wondering if you like to smell it yourself? or better not :-) .
    You bought a great little insect killer lamp there. Yes, it may be that there is something smelly, it's the same in a crematorium when people are burned. Yes, it's better to avoid such narrow streets and always take the safe route, even if it's much longer. Safety comes first. Have a good time. Greetings Oldie👍
