The only problem with a Luton, is fuel economy. If you're living in and muching about, it's okay, but longer road trips are financially painful. All said and done, you are a great vanlife icon. You don't use clickbait. You are a great role model.
I really haven’t found it to be that bad on fuel. It’s performing similar to my friends merc sprinter mwb. Maybe they’re both bad on fuel 😆 Appreciate the words of support 🙏

I know of two peeps living in a van and they love it, a few years now. I may get into it. My dad still used gas bottle in his house rather than be on the grid. A house is a house, i can't take it with me so may sell and get the money id be sat on. Family members did this when they retired.

Ex-wife and CSA tried to sting me for £16k. Went from grotty £100+ pw bedsit in Ilford (c 2000) to £3k merc camper. Parked in the street at night, worked during the day and a couple of nights at campsite at w/e to clean up, chill and get electric. Great when you're young and fearless. Lost my job and just drove out of London. Ended up on the South Coast, remarried, my own home and happy. Do it!

I think if anyone needs to learn about this life, then it's to not stay in one place. Keep rolling those wheels. I've explored this country, but I've always returned to this location and that's been my biggest mistake.

Firstly, I really like the unprofessional approach of your video's. Do not change it, it feels honest and makes me think "I can do it too" and I will do it instead of buying a very expensive posh camper. A question, why not use the oven as a heater, with a CO2 alarm for safety. It would save space. Last one, where do you buy your washing-water?
Appreciate the words. As regards to using the oven as a heater, honestly thought about it, but as you mentioned I didn’t want to risk it with the co2, even with an alarm. Also, it uses gas, and I wanted to just burn wood so there’s no cost now. On top of that, I always wanted a real fireplace. By washing water, do you mean where do I was my clothes? If so, at laundrettes. Hope this helps 🙏

You did a great job on your van comparing it to what it was like when you bought it - just a shell, that had leaks. I too was wondering about the fridge, I found a comment which you replied to tho. I came back from China teaching English for 12 years, although with travelling prior to this I was out of the UK for 14 years or so. No way did I want to pay someone else's mortgage (greedy landlords) when I came back - so I bought a motorhome - buying a house was out of the question. I use a lot more LPG than you as my fridge/freezer works on gas unless I'm hooked up to mains electric, but like you I don't pay for campsites. With 400 watts of solar it's enough for me although this will be my first winter coming up - see how it pans out. England, Wales at the moment, Ireland next year then Europe. I can still do some online teaching from the van - not a bad commute 😉. I wasn't brave enough for to do a self-build - bought my 7.5m motorhome that's 15 years old, but in good very good condition to avoid some of the pain you went through. Glad I found your channel - all the best ☘
I like what you've done here, breaking away from standard society, which is setup to make us struggle and trap us. Your van looks great, chilled vibe, free of stress. You are doing the right thing. Just out of interest what do you do for work now? I'm seriously thinking of doing this, but will still need an income to cover the basics and any repairs. I will have to do it soon as I'm a fair bit older.

Great tour. Liked it very much. Bet you're pleased with it. In the early 90's my Dad showed me some traveller friends converted Volvo automatic single decker coach. Stunning. Outside called Dignity painted white with a saxaphone on the side with musical notes down the side. Inside simply stunning. Half glazed stable door after drivers seat, dinette with matching upholstery and curtains. Fireplace with diesel fired woodburning stove. Shower room etc. All in pine and heavily sanded varnished/polished to a glass like finish. Shoes off job as whilton carpet. The finish was amazing and was for sale for 5k. Wanted to build another with 4 poster bed. Storage area underneath had waste tank. Fresh water tank. Diesel tank for fire. Batteries and electrics. Presume gas too. May of been a Volvo BM10? Quite fancy a little coach conversion!

Its all fine and dandy as long as the mechanics of the vehicle are working. You have to be saving for a replacement the entire time, plus the monthly running costs of living in this Van. Good luck.
Even if it needed a new engine it would be cheaper paying for a whole brand new engine than it would paying for 6 months worth of rent in London. The monthly costs are also extremely cheap if you’re not travelling around frequently 🙏
