- Welcome to our home on wheels.
we've sold our house to travel the world. but first up Europe in the Van...
as were a family of 5 trying to squeeze us in was quite the challenge after months of designing we finally came up with a plan we loved.
hope you enjoy!
Probably THE BEST conversion I’ve seen in years!! If your hubby did that, y’all would make a killing helping first timers like myself create such a masterpiece! Sooo simple yet extraordinary! Well done, super inspiring 🙏🏻🥰👌✨
I would totally do something like this for summer travels. Definitely not full time. But part time vacationing. Heck yes!
I have never in my life seen such a well layed out van! And the storage! Most people with one or two camping people do not have the room and storage that you have. And you are not on top of one another. As a mom, I see how you can seperate the cthree children when they are not gettisng along. Well done!
Thanks so much ☀️🚐
Love seeing how you made an entire family fit in a van and utilized every area. Great conversion!
Thanks so much! 🚐☀️
For a weekend fine, full time with 5 people madness. But best bit I feel is how when she speaks ,she is still trying to convince herself its a good idea 😅
Maybe not for you, but everyone has different needs and desires and priorities
You’ve done an outstanding job with this van. You both have thought of EVERYTHING! Including places for your kids schoolwork! I’m so impressed. It’s obvious you put your kids first in every decision made. Well done and enjoy all your future family travels!!!!
love it! it is so fun to see other families embracing adventure!
Thanks so much 🚐☀️
Love your van 🎉
5 people can fit in my bathroom but that doesn't mean they should.
😂😂😂😂
A bathroom is not fit for use as a home as it’s a bathroom, but many people around the world live in rooms the size of your bathroom it’s quite easy to research it.
Very adventurous for a family of 5 !!! ❤
This must be one of the most beautiful layouts I have ever seen. To increase your outdoor living space, you should purchase either a screened tent that you could flush right up against the opened side of the van. You can purchase a tarp that's a little larger than the tent to place on the ground. That way you can walk around without shoes. Get one larger also because you can pull it up against the underside of the van, covering it up to keep any critters from getting in. Purchase longer stakes or nails to hold the tent down securely. I didn't see it, but if you don't have a roof rack, that would help with storage, or purchase a new or used small trailer you could pull along for extra storage or to carry your tent, grills, sporting goods equipment and more...even a portable shower with extra water storage. Having an extra small trailer, you can carry more of anything you need for long treks or for emergencies in case of food shortages and emergency supplies which we might have in the future. Check out this tent and google van tents, click on images to see other nice tents. It's nice being outside, but with this particular one, you could probably sit outside in the snow or rain. On clear days, I'm pretty sure those plastic window coverings could be rolled up. A TV could be placed outside, table and chairs, stored in the small cargo trailer. www.amazon.com/Carefree-211000A-10-Lightweight-Buena/dp/B00T3B9LSE/ref=asc_df_B00NS9AKK0/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309851690329&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=4122981901987713341&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1025530&hvtargid=pla-569486310876&mcid=1816ed779e04379f8c174a32373828c0&gclid=CjwKCAjwoa2xBhACEiwA1sb1BPWSj5x_eFmi9A01JLcbFT2AxC7B7Fiej3HaGFSSM63JAZQG6rLeTBoCjrMQAvD_BwE&th=1
@dellascott163 I totally agree with you! The layout is amazing, and the use of space is awesome!!!
I love van, skoolies, box truck homes, and RV life!!!! I love Tiny Living!!! I have always wanted to live like this!!! Less is more in so many instances!!! I regret not doing so when my children came along. My whole family used to think I was crazy talking about RV life, but I grew up with parents and relatives where most of us lived in the city, and to get away from the hustle and bustl, would take us to our family property in the thousand Islands, with cabins, RV's, tents, etc., on the weekends and family get togethers...I never wated to leave to go back home!!! Peace and tranquility!!! Recently, talked my son into checking out an RV with me, he fell in love with the idea and hasn'r looked back since!!! He used to love high rise and penthouse type living...now, RV and Tiny Home Living!
For sure, I could see this family having a small tent enclosure to extend the living space. If they don't want to have a television, they could have a drop down screen in the small tent enclosure and use a projector to stream movies from their phones. And definitely an enclosed trailer for more storage of food, medical supplies, seasonal clothing, additional solar batteries, water, an enclosed bathroom, Washer/Dryer Combo.
And the stuff stored on the van could be stored on the enclosed trailer to give them more real estate on the van to put more solar panels and an air conditioner to keep them comfortable!!! More power to this family for valuing family over a materialistic lifestyle!!!!
Thankyou 🚐☀️
Thankyou ☀️🚐
I LOVE your build -- so thoughtful and practical. You guys are really doing it. Congratulations!
Thanks for showing us inside. Van looks great, love the bunks 👍
Brilliant 👏 ❤
I love the Gruffalo!!! Favorite kids book hands down! Love love love this design! 🥰😍
It’s the best isn’t it
Vantastic! Thanx for sharing your great ideas. 👍🏻🌻
No worries thanks for the comment 🤍
Its amazing you were able to make a comfortable home for your family in a van
Thankyou we love it :)
That's a fabulous design!
Thank you! Cheers! ☀️🚐
What a brilliant layout. I am amazed at how much you have crammed in. Toilet may be awkward though. I hope you have some amazing adventures. Your children will I am sure will be grateful for the outdoor education you are giving them. Have a great time. Love from Aotearoa-New Zealand.
Hey thanks so much! We have a portaloo that goes in the door way on an evening and it fits just perfect 👍
What a Beautiful and well designed van one of the best I’ve seen. Safe travels.
Thankyou 🚐☀️
I love this layout! Great job!
Thankyou!
Very nice! ❤
Thank you! 😊
That is a great van! a really great van. You are making some amazing memories for you and your boys with such a lovely conversion.
Thank you for your kind words 🚐☀️
I think you have a wonderful setup in your Van!
Thankyou! For your kind words 🚐
Your van looks amazing 👏
Thankyou 🚐
Very nice, well done & good luck!
thankyou!!
Mike has all his clothes in ONE IKEA cube?! Wow. I’m all for van life and tiny house living but 5 people in this van makes me feel claustrophobic!
LOVEEE THIS LAYOUT!!
Thankyou!
Fantastic van ❤
thankyou!!
This is the best layout for a family of 5 that I’ve seen!! My family and I are planning to do van life so this makes me so excited that it’s possible! What do you do for your toilet situation? Lol
Hey! Thankyou so much… lol we have a portable loo that we pop in the door way (fits perfect) in an evening when we go to bed. 🤍
WAW WAW love it 🥰
Thankyou 🚐☀️
Absolutely superb, I'm enjoying geeking out on these vids tonight, this has been the best. If you're ever down Oxford way shout, would love to pick up some conversion tips!
will do
Funny you mention geeking, as I was thinking those bunk beds would be perfect for nerd storage, as long as I didn't go over weight limits of the vehicle with my nerdy books that I couldn't get in ebook format.
so cozy
Thankyou 🚐
Love the layout. Thinking slide out drawers wouldve been more efficient for bench storage and finding a way to wrap shower curtain magnetically to doors and to protect the back of the interior from getting wet. Very well designed!!!
Great idea! Thankyou 🚐☀️
Carbon monoxide is heavy so you need to have the detector down lower 💀
Very nice 👍
Thankyou!
Where the toilet ???
We have a portable toilet / toilet tent works great for us as we wanted fixed beds for the boys 🚐 ☀️
This is perfect for our family! We don't need a shower or toilet as we will part at the camp site anyway when we go on a road trip. I wonder how much you paid for your van!
Maby toilet is the friends we made along the way
Why not get a bigger bus instead@@hi5adventurefamily837
Nice tour!!! I’m not sure I can do van life for too long..maybe only a few days :)
Aww we Iove living in the van
Gorgeous van! Beautiful family over from insta here 👋
Aw hey guys! Thankyou 🤍
Did I miss the kids toys? No tv for movie night and homeschool materials.
She said that they haven't restocked the van yet and that the toys are being restocked.
Cool
I'd rather have the cook top 2here the sink is n the sink where the cook top is at bcuz I wouldn't want grease to splash al over my bedding
I bet the children in this family have no mental health issues! Organisation in living conditions is key ! Wonderful😊
🤍
😮 THAT'S VERY COOL , A TRIPLE BUNK BED
Thankyou ☀️🚐
Thanq for the tour of your home on wheels.
It's a brilliant build, you've got plenty of storage. & a decent kitchen.
Do you only travel abroad, its too cold in the UK to bathe outside.
Stay safe on your travels
Thankyou 🚐☀️ we’ve been to a lot of the uk aswel as abroad :)
If there’s bad weather, you can’t go outside and take a shower. I would rather have a van that has a toilet and an inside shower just for safety reasons.
Very awesome van! With all the little ones I could imagine there's a lot of laundry to do how do you wash clothes???
Good question! We go through so much laundry 😂 but we stop off at laundrettes regularly 🚐 ☀️
Hey love van. What swivel attachments for the front seats did you use?
Absolutely love this!! Can I ask how much the renovation cost roughly? Looking to do something simillar for a mobile holiday home ❤
I recommend you to build a small trailer box at the back to full of that has bathroom in also move the kitchen on the trailer box so you have more space on your ban the design is L shape on the oning area when you get park everywhere I prepare in the ban is the sala and the bed imagine it and its magnificent
Hi the van looks great could I ask about the bunk beds on what is the head high on each bunk please
Hey! Just making a video on dimensions 👀 🚐 ☀️
I love this. I plan to do this eventually in 2025 is the goal. To be honest pretty sure this is gona be the only way to go. Its to hard to afford regular living anymore. Im not saying this is cheap but just depends on how far you travel an wjat not
Thankyou 🚐☀️
Love the layout and design of this van! We're really considering doing more or less the exact same thing for our family. Couple of questions, where did you get the additional 2 seatbelted seats as these look perfect for what we'd need as well? Also I know you've said in other comments that you are going to do a video on the bunks but is there any chance you could post the dimensions? (Again looking to do a very similar thing ourselves and would love the info!)! Thank you 😊
Hey thanks so much! We used a local company to make our seats and they fitted them to the chassis of the van then it had to go through MOT testing to make sure they where road worthy all passed ✔️ we are just making a video on dimensions I’ll comment when it’s made not long… 🙂 happy van building 🚐 ☀️
❤❤❤❤
Awesome conversion just one ? With everything you carry plus all the 5of you plus full water tank gas tank grey water tank plus diesel tank have you weighed your van what mgw is your van I'm guessing 3.5tonne
Seems like you will need to fill with water every day and shop for food everyday, there is very little storage. But you can eat pasta and play badminton. Most people feel cramped with just 2 people.
Lol tiniest home with a full sized bottle of ketchup. ❤
😂
This is the best layout I have seen for family camper.
What size and height do you do the bunk beds? Is this a H2 L2?
we will make a video about the bunks :) yes its a fiat ducato high top long wheel based
It’s a dream of mine to have one I hate hotels. The only downside is the bathroom situation and laundry. If a washer dryer combo could go in and a bathroom your set. Love the stove top and oven. Love the bunk beds and the seating for driving. Amazing job. Did you build it yourself ? What would the cost in American dollars be for both the van and build ? Do you use solar ?
Thankyou! We love our little home on wheels a bathroom would be brilliant we just don’t have the space in this van 🚐 maybe a future van ☀️
❤
Do you know the length of the bunk beds?
WOW
Where do you store the kids car seats?
This is a fantastic design, we're expecting our 3rd child and I'm just about to buy this van for camping. Did you do the conversion yourself?
Thankyou! Yes we designed and my husband renovated it 🚐
Hi, just wondering roughly how high each bunk is, oldest of 3 kids of a family of 5 planning the same thing. Loving this layout
we will make a video on the bunks :)
Beautiful van! Kids must love their cozy bunks. The amount of ppl asking so makes questions, though!😵💫
Thankyou ☀️☀️🚐🚐
Great video, amazing car! Can I ask the sizs of the VAN and the beds? Thanks
Hey! Thank-you! It’s a Fiat Ducato high top, long wheel base the boys bunks are 2ft by 5ft
Can i just ask is this a l4h3? @hi5adventurefamily837
Love the design! What are the sizes of the beds? And how high is the van on the inside?
Thankyou!! The children’s bunks are 2ft by 5ft and we have an extension to the top bunk for our eldest 🤍
I would love to see/know more about how the extension works if you wouldn’t mind sharing! This is my favorite design for a family that I’ve seen so far! We only have one kiddo, but hope to have more soon!
How do they go to the bathroom?
Looks good! How much does it weigh? We are doing a conversion at the moment and I am worried about the weight going over 3.5T.
hey! 2.8 T fully loaded we where nervous but happy ily surprised when we hopped on the weigh bridge, we love our van it gives you so much freedom 🚐
One of the best layouts I have ever seen on RUclips (Especially in my case coming from a family of 4). I have two questions if you don't mind asking:
1- What model/year is the Fiat van?
2- How long it took you to build the van?
Thanks a lot for the video, Hannah! :)
Thankyou! The van took about 8 weeks to build we did have help from a local company and the fiat is 2015 ☀️🚐
Great van!! How tall is your husband? My family of four and I would love something like this but I’m 6’5” and not sure if it’ll work.
Hey my husband is 6ft our bed literally just fits him in it but you can get the add on side panels to extend the bed 🚐 ☀️
I am surprised that the rodents don't get into that pantry under the seats. I think it would be worth it to invest in those air tight containers as they'd also help the food stay fresher longer and keep the rodents out better. It isn't rat proof though. However, it is harder for them to smell the food through it. I'd also put the containers inside another plastic box and put that box inside of the pantry. This gives you better protection from the smells leaking out to where rats and mice could smell it. Awesome set up though! It would still be too small for me if I was with 4 other people. I'd get tired real quick of walking over people during the rain.
What about car seats? How did you ensure those back seats are safe do they have locking belts? What about air bags?
She said they do have locking seat belts for all 5 seats.
We got them fitted by a company and then had to pass an MOT for them to be roadworthy ☀️🚐
❤❤🎉🎉
🚐🚐
Delighted to see your motor home, I ask you, is it allowed to live with children? That's my project, my son is 8 years old. thanks and congratulations
In the US many families live in vans and RVs full time
It depends on whether they consider you homeless or not. If you make enough money such that they consider you middle class, then you usually don't have to worry about this. However, certain states I would avoid like the plague, because you are more likely to be considered homeless and have CPS called on you. Massachusetts is one of those states. Plus, if make enough money and save enough money whereby you could afford rent on an apartment that would fit all of your family, with 2 children per bedroom max, then you are considered simply giving your children a tour, while homeschooling and allowing them to see the wonderful museums and historical places.
Which leads me to my next point. It is best to have the setup that screams homeschooler that is showing the child the historical beauty of the country, and then have photographs and physical proof that you also did this. The UK will have different rules, as will Canada. Keeping the place neat and tidy also helps. Having a physical address you can claim as domicile for voting purposes also helps. Washington State actually allows you to have your vehicle as your address. I'd check out their homeschooling rules though. You will want to have as your domicile, one of the top states for homeschooling so that you aren't arguing with the school system every other month instead of enjoying your time on the road.
To save money while on the road, ideally, you would do dispersement camping and stay their for 13 - 14 days, keeping good track of the weather and moving before increment weather strikes, and move 14 miles as the crow flies, from your last dispersement camping site to not be seen as homeless or violating dispersement camping rules. Plus I would follow cheaprvliving (not affiliated). Brilliant person who showcases everything you need to know. Lastly, be sure you have excellent security plus money to get a good hotel room for increment weather, and a backup plan in case bad weather destroys your vehicle. Best Wishes!
Yes, absolutely in the uk not sure about the rest of the world each country has its own rules and thankyou ☀️🚐
Which Is Bigger Mercedes Sprintee Or Fiat Ducato?❤😊
I think the sprinter
what size is that ? L4/H3 ?
I wonder where she stores her hairbrush.
Do you use a curtain when you shower?
I didn’t see a shower or a bathroom toilet, I mean
Can they even sit up in bed😮
Where do you two sleep ?
Só sentiria falta de um banheiro fixo.
We have a portable toilet / toilet tent works great for us as we wanted fixed beds for the boys 🚐 ☀️
Nice van but where’s the bathroom
Should have atleast bought two of them
Do you live in this van daily?
Where is the toilet???
We have a portable toilet / toilet tent works great for us as we wanted fixed beds for the boys 🚐 ☀️
These poor kids...
These lucky kids!! What an adventure. They live their life outside I’m sure.
Were u a flight attendant?
No ☀️
Where is the toilet?? You have three children and I’m sure they have to pee in usual times lol
we have a porta potti :)
Same..she mentioned a toilet tent.
Those back seats cant be legal
Where you took shower and toilet?? And wash clothes
Where is the toilet
bonjour votre remplissage de gaz est trop exposé a l'arrachement il est beaucoup trop bas
How y'all use bathroom
We have a portable toilet / toilet tent works great for us and I really wanted fixed beds for the boys :)
No way… no bathroom nor privacy with husband..kids can hear everything….not for me!! To me that’s abuse..parents don’t want to work at real jobs to give the kids a real life..those children deserve so much more..not living cramped up in a van .
That’s really insulting to the billions of people around the world who live in similar conditions. It is very common on this Earth for entire families to live in one or two room homes. How tone deaf to say that they are abusing their children when actual abuse is happening probably in your neighborhood within your fancy homes. Must be nice to be so privileged that this is abuse to you.
you have a toilet?
We have a portable toilet / toilet tent works great for us as we wanted fixed beds for the boys 🚐 ☀️
Bathroom??
We have a portable toilet / toilet tent works great for us as we wanted fixed beds for the boys 🚐 ☀️
Family of 5 and no toilet?
we have a porta potti we just didnt want to you use a lot of space in our van for a toilet :)
same question
Each child has their own little coffin how cute.
