Your solution is genius and tackles several issues. Be aware this core idea will be stolen by companies it simply is the best solution i've ever seen hands down.
"Be aware this core idea will be stolen by companies" I was thinking the same thing. If this hasn't been done elsewhere by someone else, they should put a patent on it. Let DIYers who make it for themselves keep on doing what they do because it is for personal use, not profit . For profit greedy corporate camper makers, however, would take Their Idea and profit off of it. Worse still, if this design is not protected, a really bad company could potentially steal this idea and copyright it for themselves, and then they make money off of this couple's creation.
@@CarolinaCarolina-ph9mx As far as i know, you cannot patent a technical design if it is already published. Independent of if it is really your design or not. So if they didn't patent it until now, they won't be able to at all. Might be different in different countries, of course. I'm talking about the situation in Germany. And it is different for things like slogans. Those you can still protect after they have been published, I believe.

However, I think they would need a patent on it first, and in this country, I think you can patent just about anything. I am not a patent attorney, and I have not patented anything in this country, but I have scrolled through patents and been surprised at what I saw, and they go from very complex designs to very simple. I even know of a few people who patented things that were quite simple. One person put a patent on something that was about as basic as putting a few drops of rubber cement on an item. @@CarolinaCarolina-ph9mx Interesting! If you attach some magnets to your shower curtain and the frame, sides & bottom. It won’t be able to attack you when you’re in the shower, and it will help with containing the water in the shower cubicle when you’re using it. That whole end with the shower, toilet & lounge has come together so well. It’s so usable! You must be so pleased. 😃
That's right, the curtain will stick to your body due to some physical law, as we experienced ourselves in our RV. Solution here: we sewed velcro along the hems of the curtain. Has been fine for twelve years now. Wishing you safe rides and lots of fun showers in your fancy Unimog 😊
Magnets sound better than velcro. I use velcro when I want something closed most of the time but openable. Magnets on the other hand are quick and better for seams that are open most of the time and only closed when you are actually in the shower. Presumably you won't be using the shower curtain too much when on the toilet!😂
@@MsUrsl Bernoulli's Principle. The flow of water moves the air inside the shower. Moving air has lower pressure than static air. The air outside the shower pushes the shower curtain inward.
My guess as to why: this requires slightly more careful craftsmanship than a fixed walled shower room. They clearly have the skills and confidence to build it preciously so that it moves easily. For instance, if the tracks are off line it doesn't slide easily. I like this idea. It may take a little more time to build but it's definitely worth it in a small space like this.
It is a great solution, and overall I'm impressed. However a minor but potentially annoying point: I can see the towels and the shower curtain building up some mould over time they aren't going to dry when fully enclosed. It's probably better to have a vent leading out of the shower frame at the top? Or have a practice of at least wiping the shower curtain down before closing up, using a microfibre cloth which has been dipped in cider vinegar (anti mould). Create a drying rack over your front seats for your towels. Or just use the steering wheel. That would be easy to do as that area gets the most sun.
WHAT AM I SEEING? What am I seeing?!? That shower is GENIUS. Your design is going to change van life. On behalf of my future van build, thank you both for thinking this through!! Thumbs 👍🏿 🔔
Definitely the best shower design I’ve seen. I can see even doing this at the front of a van as a pass through on the shower holder side and when driving leaving the shower open.
Oh that's makes so much more sense. I'm so copying this idea I had a different idea but this simplified the air flow problem to reduce mold I was having.
The more I think about and review this idea is where a tendency to keep the space small where a more reasonable and realistic size could and would have multiple uses from shower, wet area, winter out door ware items, area to hang laundry after washing, area for muddy items, area to contain wet pets.
You all are geniuses! Love your fold-up shower. Amazing that it compresses down to a 6" wall! The Achilles heel of this set up will be humidity, mold and mildew. You may want to consider making a shower curtain out of quick dry fabric that repels water such as Ottertex Water Repellant 200D DWR Poly Ripstop. It comes in a lot of fun colors. Then put a couple of rechargeable dehumidifiers, such as the Eva-Dry 333 cu in mini, on the shower floor after everything is wiped down post shower. The beads will absorb moisture and they can be recharged by plugging them in. If it's a nice day outside you can put the wooden shower floor outside to dry in the sun. You do great work.
The bottom of the floor was wooden slats, wasn't it? They can wipe down everywhere else, and even run a fan for a bit to easily dry any other moisture, but the wood on that floor will remain damp for far too long, and will definitely lead to mold and mildew. It is pretty, but they would have been better served to just use standard flooring there, or even a rubber mat over the floor. Given they plan to keep the toilet in there when showering, I think they probably should have made the space a bit larger. I don't see any room to actually stand with the toilet in the middle, so they will have to sit on top of it, and not only does that makes bathing the area that needs bathing the most considerably harder, there doesn't seem to be much room for their knees and feet to project out. They intended to use the shower with the toilet inside it, but I think they will have to take it out because it just doesn't have enough room in there. A very clever design, just needed to slide the wall out farther.
This build is amazing! The amount of thought that must have gone into this design is mind blowing. To be able to go from 200+ sq ft down to 80+ sq ft and not lose any functionality is unbelievable. I can’t believe coming up with such a unique shower design was possible is that small space. You both must be sooo pleased with the result. Great job on the implementation!!
Now that you have completed the shakedown, I was wondering how the Trelino worked out for you guys. Did you still like it after using it for a few months?
Thank you for getting the Trelino toilet. I stopped digging holes over two years ago because there are just too many of us out there to be digging holes anymore.
Wow ! You guys have smashed a home run with that brilliant slide-away shower/ toilet gem !!!!! This will become the standard in the industry ! This most certainly is already....the gold standard. Gooooodonyaaaa. HEBEL EST OMNIS ADAM

re: towel holder extending length --> take off the end caps and then put slightly larger and longer tubes around each of the three bars. Either have a length equal to the depth of the shower (but it might tangle with the shower hose) or slide in/out as needed. That was fun to watch! Thank you
I’ve liked the idea to build a rail for a shower curtain to go around 3 sides of the shower but to put the wall on a rail. Mind blown. Excellent use of the bench to hide the toilet. The bench seems too deep but when you realize it actually doubles as a booth where you’re facing a different direction is next level.
Wow, amazing! I've watched hundreds of shower videos for a van as inspiration for my current build. This is for sure the best solution I've ever seen. So smooth and space saving! Can't believe how much couch/extra bed space you have. Just amazing! Love from Sweden! ♥
Love this extremely well thought out design and functionality. One suggestion is to use magnets to keep the shower curtain rod from being moved when you do not want it moved in use position
Brilliant.. as a mechanical engineer I've always looked at fixed showers in campers/vans as 90% wasted space 95% of the time when not in use.. as a shower is just a big EMPTY box when not in use... the trick is how to use that 90% open space for something else when your not using the shower.. I've seen a lot of designs that have items inside the shower (storage rack, closet etc), that pivot out of the shower on hinges, or are just removable,,, but I think the simplicity of just collapsing the open shower space and using it for couch space is brilliant...
very cool. you should patent the idea! I have never liked folded up showers bc on the no privacy in the toilet, now there's both options! I love how you created your own idea and not just what every other build is doing.
I’ve been watching every vid I can find for months trying to get ideas for “hidden” showers as I want to retain as much useful space as possible in my 6x10 trailer to haul things… sliding or hinged solid wall is the way to go! So many designs use wrap around curtains, really not pleasant or practical! I’m hoping to eliminate even the entry curtain by using one of the retractable shower doors I saw on another build but I’m sure it’s $$$. Great design 💪
Love that shower design. First time I've seen this design. Very clever use of space. You'll probably get rid of that little side cushion next to the fridge too as it's taking up sitting space and you both look cramped sitting next to each other there.
The collapsible shower ! Insanely crazy! I was thinking, and maybe I missed it but to have the toilet pull out, so you don't have to move cushions to use it. I've never seen a shower like this and I've watched 100s of vids! 👏👏👏👏👏
lol... i just love the way at the end where, you place the cushions on and sit back smiling!!!! as someone who has done 2 van builds... i def know the feeling when something works out perfect and you can just sit back and say "yeah... i'm awesome!!!!"
That build series has been such an inspiration, both aesthetically and technically. Thank you both for all that great content. I enjoy every video and all the knowledge will be put to good use once I build my own camper box.
Thank you so much! Building something both functional and aesthetically pleasing is probably the hardest thing to achieve. We're very proud of our home that we've created and it works well for us. We've certainly had a lot of fun with it 🥰
Oook. I HOOKED!! I was watching like it was going to be a test later. 😂 Your calming energies, ingenuity, allowing us to 'work', I mean watch you work😄 made it a very easy laid back visit. Y'all's excitement was our excitement! I REALLY enjoyed watching.
Pretty smart design. I would suggest some command hooks for hanging things and a hanging pockets organizer for soap and shampoo type stuff. They have them on Amazon; I searched for mesh pocket shower organizers. I would suggest that you attach it permanently to the static wall rather than the curtain rod, because shampoo, body wash and conditioners be heavy. But keep everything thin enough to fit in the closed shower. Love the towel bar. Love the whole thing.
Well what can I say that set up is more than impressive & two nice people carrying out the conversion. Very well done to you both. Wishing you all the best Fom jeremy & kim.
Your design is so clever! I love the big beautiful sofa, and your entire bathroom. Well done and very unique too! Your decor colors are peaceful and pleasant, something a person could live in, even though it's a small enclosed space. You might be able to market your designs, due to the precision and concepts needed to achieve it. Regardless, congratulations for a gorgeous build!
Thanks for sharing this. This is simple, brilliant, and I have not seen anyone else do it, at least not folding it against the wall so tight. Great idea.
I always love a galley width wise behind front van seats. Now if you added this couch/table dinette/toilet-shower combo width wise in front of rear queen bed (kind can raise) - you have reached my perfect build. What a fantastic shower idea - favorite by far!
WOW, Thank You for sharing. This is a fabulous and very clever shower - well done and I hope you have copywrited and Patent the design world wide!. You so deserve to have your invention fund your life 👏🏻👍🏻🙋🏻♀️🇦🇺
Great idea. There's probably even enough room that you could have an inward opening bifold door. Having one end hinged to the fixed wall and the movable end running in the same track the movable wall uses. ...Open it'd fold into the space where the towel rail currently is and when in the open position the wall could still slide back to hide it all.
I am glad you created your collapsing shower, I was interested in doing something like that that was designed as a bathroom/shower/mud,snow equipment/area to dry clothing. A area that was designed to deal with being wet.
I had a ruff design to use on a box truck build, but I had a ruff idea of a area of 3’x3’ or 3’x 4’, I wanted to design it where it would have necessary air flow to help dry things out!
This is truly amazing. I've been doing research on some clever shower designs when I start my van, but this is game changing. The shower being out of your way most of the time and have that extra space is such a nice innovation. Great build!
Problem would be closing it up with any moisture at all, will create mold. So it would need to stay open for a couple of days at least every time. And water under the wooden slats too. Under 24 hour air condintuining like in a house, it might evaporate faster. Really concerned in a small space. Water will be in the tracks etc.
Look in to the electric toilett, thathave a pipe to the outside,it Burns everything With pressen a button, and in the bottom you get asches from nr 1 and two,in sweden it cost 30,000 swedich kronor,no smell😊
I just want to say I'm a fan of your videos and I've watched this video a few times. I'm disabled from an automobile accident and I really want to do band Life trailer life and your shower idea is amazing. I'm trying to find ways to adapt that to my abilities. I just want to say keep on doing what you're doing and I'm a fan and I'll keep watching
I was skeptical at first thinking this would not make much of a difference, however, as you work through the video you start to realise it's pure genius how you get some many different usages out of the same space with minimal fuss. Very inspiring
I would suggest some magnets and if the casing isn't metal, glue one to the casing and then you can make sure your shower curtain does not stick to you. Magnet on the shower curtain, glued matching one on the casing.
That’s brilliant. I haven’t seen that in a van before. One time I saw a tiny home where she slid her robe out into the hallway and her shower was behind it. There’s many space saving ideas if people only put their thinking caps on.
great ideas as always: We are giving our RV a facelift (since her last one 5 years ago) and looking for collapsable/fold away shower ideas - so seeing your video was very fitting. Sorry to hear Matteo get hurt - I'll for a video to see what happened - glad to see them both in this video too. Love your work guys.
Looks great ! Can't wait to see the 6 month update on this. Really curious to see how it does over time, (especially in regards to ventilation related concerns.)
I love the shower design! the only thing i would add would be a little piece of wood that has a semi circle cut out taht amtches the shape of the end of the rod so that when i extend it it will lock the rod in place once extended (so it cant fold back in) in case in the future the hinge that holds the shower curtain rod becomes loose.

Thank you both for all that great content. I enjoy every video and all the knowledge will be put to good use once I build my own camper box.
Thank you so much! Building something both functional and aesthetically pleasing is probably the hardest thing to achieve. We're very proud of our home that we've created and it works well for us. We've certainly had a lot of fun with it 🥰
Pure genius. A very innovative couple. Safe travel. I’ve always thought the Unimog is the way to go. Virtually unbreakable.
THAT IS THE MOST INGENIUS SHOWER DESIGN I'VE SEEN! AND I'VE WATCHED THOUSANDS OF VIDEOS!
Excellent engineering, most innovative shower/toilet/sofa/dinette I’ve seen. Good job you two!!😊
This is the neatest shower i have ever seen.
What a brilliant fold away/hide away bathroom idea! Such a Great idea! Love it and glad that I found your channel! 👍😁🔨🛠🔧
Wow! That is very impressive. You've just introduced a new design concept camper van living.
what a great idea and amazing design to save space and be super usefull at the same time. thank you for sharing this
Oook.
I think this is just brilliant, thanks for showing
Well what can I say that set up is more than impressive & two nice people carrying out the conversion. Very well done to you both. Wishing you all the best Fom jeremy & kim.
Absolutely love the shower/bathroom set up!❤
Maybe add a few small magnets to the shower curtain so it closes the gabs and no water can drip outside of the shower. love the idea of the shower.
I have seen lots of shower designs that are space savers, this has to be one of the best designs 👍
Thanks for sharing this. This is simple, brilliant, and I have not seen anyone else do it, at least not folding it against the wall so tight. Great idea.
It's the best idea for a hidden shower!
I always love a galley width wise behind front van seats. Now if you added this couch/table dinette/toilet-shower combo width wise in front of rear queen bed (kind can raise) - you have reached my perfect build. What a fantastic shower idea - favorite by far!
Beds for 3 possibly 4 with a blow up across front seats or floor.
I have been watching videos for 2 years still not as experienced but trust and believe I will use this idea in my build one day
You guys seriously have the most innovative ideas! Your builds are hands down, my favorites. Love the shower! I hope you patented it.
Outstanding bit of design work! Y'all made it happen, couch/booth/bathroom on one wall!
Thank you!!!
@markrenfrow9873
And guest Bed, with a Dinette table too!
Hands down the best shower design for Vans or Overland Vehicles ever! I want one 😂
Congratulations. Such a tremendous space-saving design. Love the colors in your van.
This show and other changes are so creative and done to perfection. Well done!
I have watched hundreds of RV builds, this is the best in the design of shower and toilet. Well done!
I love it. The shower is perfect. The 4 USB.The couch looks comfy .The exhaust. You didn't miss a 🪘. It's hard. Props to you.
와 진짜 혁신이네요!! 대단합니다.
The old Swiss army toilet. I love it.
This shower is incredible. I’ve seen so many different van builds for a shower and I think this is ingenious space saving idea 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Look in to the electric toilett, thathave a pipe to the outside,it Burns everything With pressen a button, and in the bottom you get asches from nr 1 and two,in sweden it cost 30,000 swedich kronor,no smell😊
Good suggestion.
Being seated on top of a load of crap n urine is an unpleasant thought. Even composting toilets can get smelly to an extent .
Electric units use a LOT of electricity. They are not suitable for off-grid situations.
That is the most wildly inventive shower I've ever seen.
I love creative minds.
So very clever!!! The best space-saving design I've seen
Crazy cool. I’m obsessed with apartments in NYC that do this wall shifting trick. It’s perfect for tiny spaces.
I was skeptical at first thinking this would not make much of a difference, however, as you work through the video you start to realise it's pure genius how you get some many different usages out of the same space with minimal fuss.
Very inspiring
I nominate, this as design of the decade! Just fablous!
The absolute BEST shower solution for van life ever!!! Elegant and usable. Happy travels! ❤ ❤
I would suggest some magnets and if the casing isn't metal, glue one to the casing and then you can make sure your shower curtain does not stick to you. Magnet on the shower curtain, glued matching one on the casing.
VERY nicely done!!! love the thinking OUTSIDE the box!
