When I was born ( a very long time ago ) I lived in a 12ft Bluebird caravan until I was two and a half. I don't remember it of course. Then my sister was born and my dad bought a 27ft Travel Master caravan. Even today I get homesick for it. We had a real coal fire with chimney and a water tank heated by the fire. Water was from a hosepipe. It had two tiny bedrooms and a drop down double bed in the lounge, it folded up behind wardrobe doors in the day. It had little gas lamps high up on the walls but they burned the ceiling. Each evening we had light from a paraffin lamp with glass shade. We had a little gas cooker, the gas bottle was outside. Eventually the coal fire burned the wall of the water tank thin and we couldn't use it.Then had two paraffin heaters for heating. We lived like this ( on private land ) until I was 16. I was bullied at school and called 'Gippo'.I did my homework by torch light in my tiny bedroom. Our beds were 2ft wide, floor 2ft wide, length 5ft 6ins. Tiny wardrobe at the end on the floor area. We moved when a by-pass got built. By this time the seams of our caravan were sealed with putty and all the windows were sealed closed with putty, couldn't open them incase they dropped out. We got housed by the council. I'd never lived in a house, I HATED IT. All that brick and concrete above my head! No soothing rain on the roof, had to climb stairs, nightmares every night, trying to get home to the caravan and failing. For decades! They're not so often these days. Just thought I'd share this with you!
Sounds like a lovely childhood ❤
We lived in a cardboard box in the middle of the road, you had it easy 😉 (actually it does sound quite amazing, though I'm sure there were times when a bit more space would have been useful). 🙏
Thank you for sharing your lovely store, much appreciated it and enjoyed it:)
@@lindamiller5489 🤗
@@Pooky-Cat 😁
I love the White from the beginning of the video. Then when we went inside, that Sage Green is PERFECT!
Thank you, I’m very much in love with the sage green interior 😍
I like it. Made of tough fibreglass that will not leak. This is how all vans should be made. Compressor fridge is very nice. It's a yes from me.
Glad you like it ❤️ The manufacturer joked that if they didn’t have a door in them, they’d float! 😂 Definitely a future-proof design
I will be happy to see these in the UK, I love eriba's, love the trillium outback caravans in the U.S, the retro revival is good even though it is not as good as real classic stuff, the price is way more than I would pay for a towing vehicle let alone the sleeping box behind, but that's probably the right price for the product 🤷♂️🙌
Interior 1950's styling boring and uninteresting
I love these! Somebody needs to get them over here in america!❤
Outstanding!
A well-built, feature-packed fiberglass trailer anywhere near this price point is hard to believe.
Send it to the US !
The last one is my fave! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ you have all done an amazing job on these!! Thank you for the tours 😊
So much better than the Go Pod. Really impressive.
wow, what an amazing use of space, great set up. Impressive
Thanks, it definitely squeezes a lot into a small space!
Brilliant best micro caravan and what an amazing price Big well done to you and the team should do very well in the UK best of luck !!
Thank you! 🤩 Yes, we are really proud to bring it to the UK and have invested a lot of time and effort into these tiny caravans. They’re already proving very popular!
This is exactly what I'm looking for, brilliant.
These are lovely, really well thought through and a great first caravan or weekend regular camper. Well done to the manufacturer too.
Hi Cameron you have just thrown our retirement discussion into total chaos lol. We were just talking about our little campervan size wise and cost of upgrading to much bigger one and this vlog appeared and auto played. It stopped us dead in our tracks! Looking a great product and sealed fibreglass as in our 30+ years of caravaning keeping damp out has been a issue for most. All the people involved should be proud of bringing product to market. So now we are negotiating a new situation. Best of luck to all and you may see us afterall.
You’re exactly the kind of customer that we had in mind for the Capsule - someone who’s perhaps making the leap from a campervan into caravans, but still wants something compact, easy to tow and eye-catching. We’ve already had a few people look at them who want to tow one behind their campervan!
It’s a beautiful little camper, has everything you need to go out on the road around australia. 😍
Love it. My sage green is a winner for me.
Hi Cameron! A proper Tardis this one! So much larger inside than it appears to be! Amazing, I love it! I'd like the orange one with the sage green inside! Take care xx 🥰
Makes the Barefoot look even more stupidly expensive.
This is a great design and construction.
Wow great idea bro thank you bring to the UK ❤😊
Fantastic design and fiberglass means no leaks at all !!! Great !!
And rust proof.
I follow a few Turkish RUclips caravan channels and have been impressed with what they have on offer there. It is good to see that they are now available in the UK. For me, I would have much preferred the onboard water tank for winter camping at ski resorts. Also, I do wish that this had an aircon option. An absolute necessity for my climate. For the UK market though, I think that the choices that you have made are appropriate and good. Good job Cameron!
Love the cars driving backwards! 23:47
Hahahaha I thought that no one would notice 😂🤦🏻♀️
Great review though. Reminds me of my son's Freedom caravan.
I spotted that... I had to rewind and look again!
Thanks for the swift reply 😊
I like it.
So nice to see Compact but, all the essentials on board 👌
Just love them! My favourite so far is the sage green interior - but with curtains.
That’s a great combination, you can have the curtains in the sage green model on a factory order ☺️
Brilliant, wish we had them in Australia.
Thank you.
Yes they'd sell well here!
Look at Centaur Karakampa very similar just a bit larger
@@markunderwood9823 Just checked that out too. Is similar and has some really good standard options, about 1500kg unloaded as opposed to this which is under 1000. Karakampa 'mini' like this might do well in Australia too.
Wow £17,000 and a compressor fridge what are UK caravan builders playing at come on guys smell the roses. Great vid keep them coming.
Absolutely, I’ve been championing the compressor fridge for years. Motorhome manufacturers seem to use them a lot more. It’s even more important considering how famously problematic the industry standard Dometic three way fridge is 🙄
I love the B-Roll shot at 23.55 of the Mercedes car outside driving backwards. I thought I was seeing things till I went back and watched it at that time stamp again.
Absolutely love these. Really nice sensible weight vans.
Wow, absolutely fabulous!! Have been looking at the Go Pod but really wanted a wash room and then you pop up with this! I haven't caravaned since I was a child in the seventies and coming up to retirement want a caravan for the dog and I to go exploring. It is quite a daunting thought to do it on my own and am watching as many videos as I can to pick up tips. I think my friends would describe me as quirky and want to thank you so much for coming up a design that I would have chosen myself. Now to find space in the diary to get see one in person!
The Capsule Mini sounds perfect for you! They’re super easy to tow too, with fantastic road handling qualities. They’re just simple, rugged and certainly stand out from the crowd. Feel free to come and see them in person, or get in touch with Leeds Caravan Centre directly if you have any more questions about them: www.capsulecaravans.co.uk
For what it's worth, I've owned 5 different caravans in my lifetime, 3 of which were twin axle 4-6 berth vans with an onboard washroom, and my last van was a Go Pod which I sadly had to sell last year due to health issues.
In all of my vans with the washroom, I just ended up using it as an extra storage cupboard because the reality of an onboard toilet is just a lot more work - filling the water tanks, emptying the contents of the toilet cassette at an elsan point (a nasty job), cleaning it out, issues with damp due to inadequate ventiliation in the washroom.... the list goes on. I think the thought of having a washroom onboard is nicer than the reality if I'm being honest.
Most well-run campsites renovated their facilities during COVID so you'll find the toilets/shower rooms are a lot more plush than they used to be. Aside from having it there for midnight emergencies, caravan toilets/washrooms just don't stack up against a proper toilet/shower plumbed into the mains. I think Go Pods include a portable camping toilet in one of the cupboards which will save you running to the toilet block in the night. Just keep it strictly to number 1s :)
I think your doing an incredible job. Looking forward to seeing the finished article,,,,,keep up the good work
out standing . love it
What a brilliant design..... very impressed. My only issue would be the single burner. I'd prefer two of them and to wash the cutlery in the bathroom! But that's just me.
Yes, it was a sticking point for us. Unfortunately, the kitchen dimensions are just too small to make it work 😔 We could make a double burner work front to back, but couldn’t find a sink small enough to go next to it!
These are fantastic. I wasn't expecting a loo, never mind a shower. You don't need for anything with one of these.
It’s amazing how much they squeeze into them!
Very nice hopefully they come to the USA soon
Thank you was waiting for a breakdown video on this camper. Cheers.
Fantastic design and great quality. The bathroom was a shocker. Amazing space in such a small van. Best of luck
Thank you, the washroom is a real selling point of these caravans. Other manufacturers need to take note of how to make a proper leak proof shower room! 🙈
Love them ❤ although the grey one is my fav... something for the future when our children have left home 🙂
It's great what u can fit in a very small space the size of it.. It's incredible & it's a Lot cheaper compared to other caravan on the market.👃
If Leeds caravan centre can also bring over the next size up with fixed bed, orange exterior and contemporary interior then you’ve absolutely got a buyer here. Caught my eye in Instagram care of NAWB and I’ve been keeping an eye open.
All I will say is, watch this space 🤐😉
@@NotAnotherWhiteBox Oh well if that's happening don't forget the Rena 3.60. My preferred layout. :)
@@NotAnotherWhiteBox do you have any details on that yet ?
Love them, just wish Leeds Caravans had a dealership in the Republic of Ireland 🙂
Amazing. At first I thought these were a little plain but as you spoke and we saw the different options I got really excited. The basic design for longevity is perfect and as you showed the different designs I thought these are brilliant. Rethinking about getting a mini caravan again now! Lol!
Glad that you like them, yes, the more you look, the better they are! Small but perfectly formed!
Great caravan.Pity no UK company are smart enough to make a similar caravan at the same price
There is a very similar caravan and guess what it's double the price?!?
Looks great.
Rightfully you should be hugely proud of the Capsule. I love it but just wish it was a tad bigger. Im 6'3" & I have a 2020 Freedom Twinsport Flare and frankly struggle with its size.
That said well done Cameron !
Thank you ☺️ I do think these feel bigger inside compared to the Freedom, there’s more headroom for sure and the kitchen is a more conventional working height. The bed isn’t as big as the Freedom one though, I will admit that 😅
These are gorgeous
I’d have the grey one but I’d want the retro wheels
I’m more of a luxury hotel person but really enjoyed looking at these super cute caravans
With a washroom/toilet. The way is should be! Perfect. Hope we can get these in the Netherlands too. Would have been nice if the bed was a tiny little bit wider.
Just love these! Wouldn't it be nice to have them in the US?
Great van, only bit of advice is it would be good to have some material under the front window - for when the bed is made - think the fibreglass would feel cold to sleep against.
It looks like it will end up full of condensation with a shower in this small space and a plastic interior.
@@Caravanzilla123 . I did wonder, I notice there’s an option to pay for a roof light which is something I would personally do.
@@bordersw1239 That would eat into the small payload, along with any other accessories you need like water heater, canopy, heating, off-grid stuff etc.
I love it!!!!
I love it!!! We have a Freedom Twinsport as we wanted a big bed but if it was just me and the dog id go for this over the Freedom - it looks easier to clean as well as being cool!
Oh wow, they are gorgeous. I would love one, I could really see myself camping out in one of those but unfortunately I have nowhere to store one for when I'm not using it. I can dream. ❤
Why dont they have these in Australia?????
Excellent..
These are lovely. A lot roomier than a Go Pod. I love the white wall tyres and all the colour schemes. Been looking at various 2 berths as there's only me. The washroom looks great.....It would be good to see the awning and how easy it would be for 1 person to put up.😍
Thanks for your interest 🥰 There’s many awning options - a fitted roll out canopy, canopy that threads into the rail, full awning and even a bespoke Glawning package with a log burner! Whatever you want, we can make it work ☺️
They are smaller than a Go-Pod in length and width. I'm considering both and a Go-Pod is winning for me. It has a better sized bed and a wardrobe. I don't want to store my clothes with my cutlery.
A Go-Pod also has one of these fridges and to go off grid the upgrade is cheaper. Just a solar panel.
Maybe small caravans is the way forward rather than towing a house behind 😊
I think so too. The market is suggesting this as well, as more people make the leap to an EV for towing. They typically have much lower towing weights than their ICE equivalents and/or suffer huge range loss with a big boxy heavy caravan in tow.
Love them
How cute are these.
It would be nice if they were available in Canada. I love the simplicity and minimalist vibe. Great camper (caravan).
I like it!🤺😁
Look very interesting
An orange one with the sage green interior for me!
With you on that one! But I also love the retro interior with its rattan cupboard doors 😍
Very affordable. Love them.
Think these look fab. Would love to iwn one.
Thank you for the review 😊
Any air conditioning/heater?
Thanks
I am really impressed with the design and the price. Regrettably, there are four of us, 2 adults and two children. The only way that I could see a way around that would be to buy a large tent to provide more space. If only a campervan could be sold for a similar price. I often take Cubs camping, but it's too posh for the free mud 😂
This is mark 1 version can we have a mark 2 version made a little longer so it can be used for a two week holiday. With a bigger hob & grill, tv point a heater and more space for food prep and slightly wider front bed for normal sized un athletic adults then it may sell loads.
You pointed out the white wall tyres Cameron, but didnt mention if they are available to buy in the UK ?
The white and grey ones look amazing. I own a Go-Pod, also a one piece fibre glass construction van, but the capsule has the advantage of having a washroom and full height across the length of the van. Would definitely consider swapping the Go-Pod for one of these 👍👍
There’s been a lot of Go Pod owners coming to check these out so far. I think it offers the same compact package that they seek, but with a few more enticing features such as the shower room and, well… headroom 😂
We used to own a go pod, which was a fantastic caravan.
This caravan looks really good. The wash room and head height looks better. We used to be always banging our head in the go pod. Also love the retro look and fridge.
That’s not taking anything away from the go pod.The go pods bed looks a larger size and the fix aerial for the TV is an advantage.
Looks like this is another great micro caravan
@@NotAnotherWhiteBox I think these capsules will be for a slightly different market. I owned a Go-Pod for 6 years and being able to store it at home was the most important thing for me, neatly tucked away in the garage ready to pull out whenever I wanted to use it. Saved a small fortune on storage fees and was able to put the money saved towards extra holidays.
These seem more comparable to Barefoot Caravans or the Freedom Carpento in honesty. I have a feeling that the rather modest payload could be an issue during longer trips too.
My parents since I was 10 had caravans, I personally think a thin wardrobe in corner of entry cupboards would work
Also in Australia our caravans have pull out and tuck away drop steps to enter the caravans which a not expensive to fit welded to the underfloor chassis than having to carry a portable step ...
I think personally a cutlery draw & cupboard doors under the stove sink with shelves are a better option.
Nice little caravan otherwise...
I think these are wonderful. I wish they sold them in the United States also. The price range and the amenities, everything that is included, is wonderful. I like the white cabinets up top but would prefer the wood-colored cabinet doors not the black. I do like the curtains. If the toilet is removable that gives a person more space for showering. And if a person really does want a wardrobe, the bathroom can be used as a wardrobe or a mud room when not in use. Just put your boots in the shower and put a spring rod in the bathroom to hang hangers and clothes on and you have a wardrobe. I think this camper is wonderful. Thank you for sharing and for letting me share. P.S. I also like the white cabinets under the stove and by the door as opposed to the gray. I like just white and light brown wood colors, no grays or blacks. :-)
What an AMAZING caravan!!!...and what a handsome chap you are Cameron!😊...will it be available in the states?...
CARRY ON!!!
I like them! Especially the gray ones I think.
However, I would want an axle upgrade for MTPLM 900-1000 kg, to allow more payload.
his is definitely the BEST mini caravan, and you could compare it with the TARDIS, I LOVE the single one-piece body, coming from parents who owned caravans for over forty years water ingress was a battle on all sides, I love tenting, but this is definitely on my shopping list, There is nothing out there (that I'm aware of) like it.
We all have different wants and needs, I think I would have deleted gas hob and gone for battery and inverter and induction cooktop. Fabulous caravan, gas heating and hot water would be nice is that possible?
I think the bench tops should have rounded edges to prevent injuries and follow the trend of curves inside the little van otherwise it is absolutely perfect.
Turkey brilliant caravan!
They look really great, and well thought out. How would the bathroom and toilet be for a slightly larger person?
Very nice! They share a lot visually with the freedom. Feels like its missing a 3/4 berth option? They look like sleek little runarounds but with great build quality. And with the freedom carpento coming in around 20k + last time i checked, its a good time to hit the market at a lower price point
If the Capsule Mini is a success, Leeds Caravan Centre will import a larger model with a fixed bed. The size of the Mini keeps shipping competitive, whereas larger models will be more expensive. But if the demand is there… I looked at the Freedom Carpento in a previous tour of the NEC on this channel and found it to be not particularly well designed. They’re faults that you’d accept for a few thousand pounds less, but at the same price as a Bailey Discovery, I can’t see why you’d pick one instead.
A bigger model would really appeal to me at least ❤️
I reallly like these - definitely considering it. Will they be at the NEC next spring?
Looks like a great alternative to the Go-Pod, especially with the bathroom. The one negative is the size of the bed, just seems too small to be comfortable for 2 people. What size is the awning and any photos? Any USB charging points? Thanks
It is a great alternative to the Go Pod, it’s actually ever so slightly shorter overall than a Go Pod, but the interior feels much bigger. The bed is on the small side, but it’s only of similar proportions to the kind of rock and roll bed that you get in a campervan, but more comfortable as it’s made from flat foam as opposed to car seats. There’s multiple awning options - a fitted roll out canopy, enclosed awning and even a Glawning with a log burner! There’s dual USB charging points in the front dinette seating area just next to the fridge.
Firstly, let me say that I'm coming at this from the view of someone with a large twin axle caravan with a fixed bed, so these are not a caravan I would consider. However, as an upgrade from a tent I can see them suiting some people.
A couple of things I would point out, the lack of windows makes them look a little claustrophobic to me. In the lounge of our caravan we can sit and have a 270 degree view. The cupboards whilst being full length, with the doors not being that long it would be very difficult to get to stuff in the ends.
I imagine that these would be a weekend caravan and not used for extended breaks or tours.
Also, as you have to purchase from Leeds Caravans, wherever you live in the UK you would need to take it back there for any warranty work.
Thank you Cameron. Really impressed by the design and layout, in particular how they managed to get a bathroom in there! I love the 70s orange! What kind of heating would be good for this caravan - can you get 12 volt plug in radiator type heaters? Thanks for your help,
Which model comes with a swimming pool?
Cheapest isn't best. These caravans look great
Would make a great campervan attached to a small pic up chassis, would need to have flat back of the mini van up against the cab.
Very big internal space very well thought out, just perfect for one or two people, 200 to 300watts of solar panels on the roof for extended off grid capabilities.
The Future is now
I'm not gonna lie, I wasn't expecting that inside.
Really cool. I'm wondering if there is an option for aircon (though the insulation does seem really good)? Also, I wonder if a bunk above the bed (that you could pull down when needed) at the expense of some storage might be a future option, as I don't think the bed is quite big enough for two. (Given the single-piece design of the shell, this is probably wishful thinking)
Splendid!!!!! But...only available in the UK? Not in Europe?
CuteI wonder if anyone has bought one yet, true about the stove, we never use ours inside the Tab.
Do like this as better than the GoPod due to bathroom but what about aircon/heating? Stayed in statics in France and without air con they are a sweat box when temps are up. Same when in cold weather summer in UK without heating may as well be in a tent. What about plug sockets as one cooking solution people favour is the Remoska. Oh and what awnings are compatible as that is another difficulty with Go Pod.
Pretty much any driveaway awning made for VW transporters is compatible with Go-Pods; the Kampa Cross Air, Trip Air and Sprint Air all fit nicely. I saw that they also offer another awning from Camptech which has apparently been bespoke fitted to Go-Pods.
Any chance of ditching the gas altogether. Then no gas bottles and piping. Easy to have an induction hob inside and BBQ outside?
Yes that would be possible on a factory order, it was an option that we considered.
Can you only buy this in the UK?
They are quite lovely and look so well built. Shame that there appears no awning option or even a pull out sunscreen? Retro fit an awning rail as with a campervan for a small drive away awning perhaps?
Check the website, there’s three awning options! A fixed roll-out canopy or a fitted awning rail at two different heights are available: www.capsulecaravans.co.uk
Just a pity that they did not do a fibreglass version of an ABI Adventurer. That van has a better size and use of volume.
One point of many is that the ABI has an onboard gas locker which keeps Butane warm at -10c
looks like a perfect mini caravan and im impressed with the bathroom. My only thoughts are that there seems to be a little lack of standard equipment such as the heater, and as stated a external BBQ and socket should be a standard item. I also think solar should be compulsory in all caravans. The awing looks pretty decent as well. I would rate it as 7 out of 10 so far and im sure by next year this will be heading upwards as the company sees what is selling. Ive looked at many caravans and the one that ticks all my boxes is the Tab 400 but the nucamp 4 berth boondock rather than the uk one thats only 3 berth. That the one someone should import.
The problem is, more spec equals a higher price. There’s an extensive options list, and you can add all of it if you want. So many people say that they just want a basic caravan that allows them to make a step up from camping, so that’s what we’ve come up with. It’s been interesting so far to get feedback from those who are placing orders - not one of them has ordered the heater yet!
@@NotAnotherWhiteBoxExactly correct.
Ageing campers just want a faster set-up with a better bed, not increased complexity.
The tiny washbasin would be impossible to wash in.
@@NotAnotherWhiteBoxif you look at Russell hobs plug in heater really cheap to run only £25.00 and they warm an entire room to 30degree as it’s got elec hook up perfect option for heating 😊
What sort of awning do you think would go with them?
There’s a choice of a fitted campervan style roll out canopy or an awning rail to fit a porch awning or Glawning.
A few questions...
Where do you get white walled tyres from when they need replacing?
Why is there no wardrobe, when there is space for one where there are worktops instead (eg opposite the hob)?
And i think i would have chosen blue to match the Umarsan logo rather than just plain white.
The white walls are just bands that fit in around the rim of the wheel when you inflate the tyres.
You’d have to ask the manufacturer why they didn’t elect to fit a wardrobe… I personally don’t think it’s an issue, as the caravan is designed to be a small step up from camping, where you’d also not have a wardrobe.
Custom colours are available if you wish!
Campers don't want a wardrobe.
My only thing would be no skylight to let hot air out.
Great little caravan. The finish looks better quality than the Freedom. Is there any issue with the smell of fibre glass?
The level of finish for the price is astounding. Practical Caravan just gave it a rave review in their latest magazine. There was a smell of fibreglass at first, but we’ve kept them well ventilated for the first month and it appears to have gone now 🤞🏼
Are these availabe in the USA
Tow weight?
Magic fan?
Self leveling?
I love it … but still a few questions. It’s not for everyone but it’s not meant to be! A great alternative to van life!
