some advantages but many caveats, 1 where are the two separate audio tracks and why cant you edit the levels of the mixc vs Mac audio? , 2 where are all the videos in the history stored taking up all the space ? wonder if you can answer these questions
@@OfficialFatLip on point 1 you can edit levels and control how much of each gets mixed after the video stops getting rerecorded. that was added and enhanced after I made this video. I used to do this in post in davinci resolve it recorded 2 channels. Videos in history are stored in the app directory macs store all these types of files under the library directory but you can change this. I point my recordings to google drive so don't use the history feature at all. i just have a script that clears the folder 2 weeks after the file is created as usually I'm done editing or don't need screenshots.
@@OfficialFatLip timestamp? I trigger a recording and hit the fullscreen on my facecam to capture that and the screen recording . this saves me having to stop recording and start again and is much easier to edit.
Ahah really appreciate this comment. We're getting there slowly but surely. Have 2 videos i need to finish editing alongside my analytics channel. Stay tuned and thanks for your support
this app is really brilliant. i also love screen float, but screenshot x added the ability for shots to float which is a central way i use these tools.
Excellent, thank you. Just got Cleanshot X because of this video. I hope you affiliate with them, you do a great job. When I clicked your link, it just takes me to your other video. You really deserve credit, your explanations are clear and relevant. Thanks again.
Cleanshot X is one of my favorite tool. Everything feels and works great. I’ve been using for a long time to take screenshots and make GIFs, and only recently to make videos. Great video!
Great walk-through! Thanks for sharing your workflow tips, too. The pinned screenshot idea is fantastic. I'm diving back into this under-utilized app now.
You can choose your save location so if you have Google drive on your machine yes. That’s how I do my setup. I have a specific folder in Google drive for screenshots and videos and that’s synced with Google drive using Google drive app.
Yes, it can. I use this alot, but it's labelled as a Beta. I find if you have many other things also requesting internal audio like, say, Audio Hijack and this, then it can be buggy on the odd occasion, but I've always had a warning. Otherwise, just a simple recording works every time.
Not during recording. You can move it around whilst recording. just click and drag it, and it snaps to one of 8 positions around your screen. You can choose the size and shape before you start recording. 5 sizes 3 shapes so 15 combinations to work with.
@@marvineckert Correct. If you click the overlay the only thing it can do is go fullscreen as I do at the start of my video in reverse, I click out of fullscreen to overlay mode. And you can move it around. Unless I missed a shortcut somewhere bt I doubt it
Thank you so much for this video! It seems to do everything I was looking for except one thing. Is it possible to have the screen recording zoom in and out to highlight certain portions of the screen or on mouse clicks? I see this a lot on tutorial videos and was really expecting to see that here. In fact, they even use it in their own tutorials (like here: ruclips.net/video/GOjV01brFQg/видео.html).
I always do this in post on my recordings for consistency and also better resolution scaling than the accessibility features allow. You can also crop and highlight if you do things this way. I think it also supports mac os accessibility zoom shortcut during a recording as the recording only captures whats on screen.
hey Tim, the best? clean shot x CANNOT follow your screen, your capture area while recording, so why is this the best screen recorder? a very basic , necessary function, move your window, and it records what was behind it, your desktop, brilliant, lol
I do that in post for more control in video editing software. That's the industry standard way fo doing that. My video is an opinion. Welcome to disagree.
@@timfngwena you didn’t understand. Clean shot limitation. I need it to follow th le window. To keep recording same window even if I move it. Even if i put another window or document in front of it. Not talking editing. Post. Just simple record
@cee-df8nq shame it’s not you can see my RUclips channel where I use it. I added links to purchase after I ran out of personal referral keys for Setapp . I just don’t see the use case above being that important. That said I found screen flick has that follow function. And again this is my opinion. Really helpful video. You covered a lot of ground without a lot of fluff. Going to get this app today. Thanks, Tim! 🙂
You should make more videos around tech and/or apps, Tim. You have a great way of explaining things.

Great video. Can annotations also be used in the video recording mode?
No. For that I use presentify.

Hello Sir
Which software do you use for video editing.
Davinic resolve for editing.
Thanks for the video! Does Cleanshot X support uploading to Google Drive?

How do you like this compared to loom
I find Loom sort fo weird but I know its popular. I also use cleanshot for screen shots many times a day so its far more sticky.
Just one question: Can it record internal system Audio? i.e. record without using the microphone, something which the regilat recording lacks?
Yes, it can. I use this alot, but it's labelled as a Beta. I find if you have many other things also requesting internal audio like, say, Audio Hijack and this, then it can be buggy on the odd occasion, but I've always had a warning. Otherwise, just a simple recording works every time.
