    Downright helpful video. I will add that there is (or was) an adapter available to mate the T5 to 200 ci 6 cylinder inline Stangs -- for those of us underpowered 4 luggers.

    Should be noted that after a rebuild on these transmissions the bell housing should be checked for center with the crankshaft. And if it's not, even with a new clutch, the input shaft will drag on the pilot bushing/bearing not allowing proper shifts wearing out the blocker rings, synchronizers, and shift forks.

      +Ed Spencer The run out should be held to .005" or less or .010" on the dial as you are reading the dia. not the radius. To correct for an offset, offset pins are available.

    FYI, you can use an sn95 T-5 with a foxbody mustang bell housing, but you will have to buy a shorter input shaft and baring retainer. The gears are the same, so swapping out the input shaft is easy. I have an sn95 t-5 in my foxbody V8 for about a year with no problems.

    Neutral safety switch is for the cruise control, not for starting circuit. Wire the clutch pedal if you wish to have an interlock if the car is not equipped. In vintage Ford like the mustang, the four speeds had the red wire with a blue stripe is jumped at the firewall.

    Go fast things in Oz seem to be generally a bit more expensive. Especially if it is US speed parts being sent to Australia. We got the box we're building in an incredibly lucky moment. The local Pull-A-Part dropped it right as Jeff walked up. $50 and a couple of hours later and it was his--Vinnie's--Gina's...you get the idea.

    Classic Inlines offers a six cylinder T5 conversion. If you blow up the Dagenham (or as Jeff likes to call it the Dangitall) the five speed is an awesome choice.

    Great Vid . I have a 1995 corvette 4+3 and I am thinking about putting one of these into it . I Know people think they are weak but I have seen mustangs with these with superchargers and other mods .They worked fine . I wonder If I just drove it WITHOUT hard holeshots and speed shifting if I could get it to last ? The car is a massive power horse with a whopping 230 HP!! The torque is a little higher than the trans is rated for but the motor It has 80K on it. Most of the miles will be hwy . It seems like it will fit with minimum work and I do like the performance shifters available too. I would be happy to get a year or 2 out of a T5 before I buy a TKO. What say you ?

      Jim Closson Found the answer. Woo Hoo! T5 - 75 lbs. TKO 3550 - 105 lbs. TKO 500/600 - 105 lbs. T56 - 115 to 129 lbs.

    Upgrading a T-5 can be costly. Better to purchase a T-5z with a 2.95:1 gearset over a worn 3.35:1 first gearset is money better spent. There is a lower cluster billet steel support plate to better load and support the bearings in the case.

    I have a sn95 transmission and I'm doing a conversion on a 1965 mustang 289. Will the T5 conversion cross member bolt up just fine? I didn't know if since it sits back a little ways if there's alignment issues with the cross member.

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  6 лет назад

      Depends on the year SN95. If the car is a 1994-95 then the info in the videos will outline the differences. Ford went to the 4.6 after 1995 and the transmission changed.

    • @Mr.Cynical92

      AutoRestoMod Car Restoration Modification I just didn't see anything in the video mentioning the cross member. If I have to trim the floor to fit the shifter then that's fine but I just want the cross member and drive shaft to bolt up with no issues.

    • @Mr.Cynical92
      @Mr.Cynical92 6 лет назад

      Just got off the phone with Modern Driveline
      My 1965 has a 6 bolt bell housing so a 5.0 fox body bell housing and starter will work if I have a smaller input shaft and bearing retainer installed. Also would need to do some trimming in the transmission tunnel and a maybe a little on the floorboard to fit the T5 in place. The guy from modern drive line also said that I will need a hurst style shifter and that I might need to grind on the cross member to get it to line up.
      I'm going with a hydraulic clutch, 157 tooth flywheel. If I do stroke it out to 347 I'll need a different flywheel for when that happens. 18 tooth speedometer gear because of the tire size and gear ratio I plan on running. Just passing along the info in case somebody else watching is going through the same things.

    Have this in an 85 jeep. Thought the throw out bearing was gone. Was making a knocking noise when in gear. Engage clutch and it quit. Dropped transmission and when you rotate shaft will turn to a point and stop. Can jiggle the shaft a little and it will continue to rotate until it gets back to that point again and stop. Sounds like something is hitting the bottom of the case. Any ideas whats wrong.

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  10 лет назад

      We're guessing that several of the bearings in the trans have gone, ummm, "missing". But you will have to do a tear dow to be sure.

    • @brucecouture9974

      +Robert Sanchez You would have to change the input shaft and bearing retainer. 3.8L T-5 have the same gear set as a 85-89 5.0L Mustang, so it is limited in strength to about 300hp.

      +ISAAC HUERTA World Class T-5 use a Dextron III ATF oil. You will need to purchase 3 quarts. Non Class use Dextron II but its not available. Best to use 50 oil in it place. Dextron III is not recommend as it only about a 30 weight, too thin.

    will a sn95 bell housing fit the foxbody?

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  8 лет назад

      +Luis Saldana No. The SN95 bell housing is deeper and would place the shifter in a different spot. Also the SN95 T5 has a longer input shaft so it will only work with a SN95 bell housing.

      +AutoRestoMod Muscle Car Resto and Modifications is it possible the swap a foxbody inputshaft into a sn95 trans

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  8 лет назад

      Yes. If you get a '95 and older GT or v6 trans, they can work with the fox bell housing. The '95 Cobra transmission used a different bearing and will not cross over. You will need to swap the input shaft, and either shorten the throw out bearing retainer sleeve that goes over the input shaft to the correct length, or purchase a Fox throwout bearing retainer. We'd recommend getting the steel throwout bearing retainer that Modern Driveline sells.
