    I thought that you needed to put some transmission fluid in that shift compartment because transmission fluid from the gear housing and that compartment are separate… I’ve been known to be wrong a couple times before though…..

      No, it’s all connected together, the gears splash fluid up in the case and lubricates all the mechanisms. Now it is advised to place alittle grease in the ball socket cup for the shifter but since I reused my original one I didn’t have to do that. You can also fill the transmission from the top of you already have it emptied and the top off but you don’t have to drain it to change shifters though. Hope this helps, thanks for watching.
