Great video!! My G101A has been ridiculously reliable all the way back from my Coyote Stock days and even today behind a ProCharged Coyote. I swear the harder you beat on it the happier it is. GForce TTF!!!
In the automotive performance car hobby, stick shifting is the only way ta have fun. Full throttle powershifting is a lost art. I miss class racing too. Bracket racing ruined the drags.
I remember running a faceplated T5 many years back. I was getting set up for my 3-4 shift and putting pressure on the shifter (as I always did/do). I got caught off guard when without ever touching the clutch pedal I must have pulled hard enough to shift into 4th. After I knew that, I still used the clutch on most shifts (to get out of gear), but everyone once in a while if the race was close, I could yank a gear without the clutch pedal. The set up changed to a 4 speed with a vertigate shifter, which was a blast as well, but I missed that H pattern T5.
I had their 3650 from their first run of experimental gear sets back in 09 it was amazing behind my 01 Bullitt with 682whp, then put it behind my 418 Windsor with their billet front plate
Me too but the clutchless stuff doesn't have a "man pedal" lol. To me a real manual trans is 3 pedals and an h pattern shifter. Going clutches and the forward back type shifter that takes the driver mod out of it where anyone can drive one fast.
Looks like there was a 6XD sequential transmission in the background that you guys overlooked. My 01 Mustang Cobra is getting a T56 with a full sequential conversion from PPG gears and it will be stuffed with dog rings and a shifter barrel that replaces the shift rails. In my opinion, a manual sequential gearbox is the ultimate trans for a street strip road course car.
@@cobraracer46 faster? doubt it. it is likely more annoying then a Vgate on the street, with a Vgate you can still find a gear without having to roll through the whole pattern. on the street its a gimic
@@xxxmikeyjock Reality and what you think are two different things. A racing sequential dog box is much faster than an H pattern synchronized transmission since you can shift a sequential dog box in around 50 milliseconds because you don’t need to use a clutch and the gas pedal is 100% on the floor.
@@cobraracer46 simply not factual. you have to break the torque to make a shift in a dogbox, making it sequential doesnt change that fact at all. an H pattern dogbox or a Vgate dog box will shift just as fast as a sequential dogbox.

I know this is G force video and that is a great lineup. But Liberty is king of the clutchless for strength and reliability with its dual cluster design
@REVan Evan yes they are great people. We ran modified eliminator back in the day and then comp elimentator until late eighties. My dad was friends with Joe Liberty. And just to be clear, not taking anything away from G force. They obviously make great stuff.

This was all great info. I'm sure it's old tooth to others, but it was cool to me to be able to see inside. Slightly off topic: I used to fully depress the clutch pedal while shifting when I was younger. I had to go back to a stick shift Jeep Comanche recently and I found I can shift better by only pushing the clutch pedal maybe halfway down. Is this what I should have always done?
What's the difference in straight cut gears vs curved cut gears when it comes to shifting smoothly at high rpm? Thanks, also I know it's an elementary question but some people don't know.
Why go through all the trouble of cutting off 3/4" off the tunnel if you mount the flap back in original location? Just move the bumper and "3 inches is better than nothing"
Which is the Nascar transmission Ive been hearing about where in top gear, the cluster shaft falls away from the motion shaft so only the output shaft is being driven saving the parasitic drag of the rest of the geartrain?

Why can't they make a transmission like Honda Atvs with semi manual.. You don't need a clutch but you still shift gears. They use a centrifugal clutch instead of a manual clutch??
If you already have the 3650 it'd prob be cheaper to build it but you'd have less downtime going with a tkx. I hear it shifts like a t56 magnum which is a good thing.
Dad taught me that 30 plus years ago. It’s beautiful when done right. Remember, smooth is fast.
Best transmission manufacturer out there today.
I just got a PhD in transmissions...very nicely done.
I have a faceplated tko and didnt know how the pro shifted clutchless stuff worked exactly. Great visual!

A dog ring is how a boat shifts, when you hear the clicking and then the clunk that's the dogs lining up and engaging.
Motorcycles too.
Why those dogs just dont snap right off with all that torque just doesnt make sense
Very understandable explanation!!. Well done sir.
pretty good lesson. now how can i experience operating all these transmissions without buying all of them myself

I dont see the point of sequential in a street car. H pattern works and you can select any gear any time
The point of the sequential gearbox is that it’s much faster than an H pattern and it eliminates the possibility of missing gear shifts.

I run a g-force gsr in my ls2 drift car it’s a great bulletproof transmission.
I believe with any transmission, the first and most important step is getting it out of gear,, and set to go into the next gear with out "tie up".
Not with a clutchless, it engages both gears at the same time, and ramps out of the lower gear automatically.
@@alexjohnward So, the reason that a clutchless transmission is un-streetable is that it cannot downshift while the car is in motion?

I just wish someone would come out with a sequential shifter for the T5 that doesn't cost as much as the new T5 did.
Do you mean a V-gate?
@@revanevan No, a sequential like the S1 Sequential, which is $1500. Cheaper than a new T5Z but definitely over half it's cost.
