    Anyone who loves electric guitar should watch this. The energy and tone, and Jeff's guitar expressions.
    I'm glad I saw him once. So truly devastated at his passing. RIP Jeff Beck the greatest rock player there ever was.

    it is a "sad state of affairs" that this concert of one of the greatest guitarist of ALL TIME only has 12,000 + views. this concert is a master class in note manipulation and attack as well as technical proficiency! both reasons of why JEFF BECK is the GUITARIST'S GUITARIST.

      No vocalist. Instrumentalist / instrumentals are never as popular. People like their vocals and lyrics, especially women, that cuts out half your potential audience. Where would EVH be without DLR?

    • @Gregorypeckory
      @Gregorypeckory 2 года назад +9

      @@rc3754 True, and EVH would probably be a big star like Beck, not a massive global household name like he is. His talent is extreme like Beck and honestly I think they're very similar artists in many ways, particularly in how unique and inventive each is; quite different because they're unique artists, but similar in wildness, a natural brilliant sense of timing, unique and beautiful melodies and insane tones!
      I have always been blown away by Beck's success; one of the few players great enough to blow away entire stadiums full of rock and roll fans with no vocals, and nobody complaining!

      I just found out that Jeff died. I'm sorry for your and our loss. I loved and always will love his Blow by Blow recording. But I never followed him too closely. I'm not a musician and maybe that has a lot to do with that. I've just watched a video of him playing live in Baloise Switzerland in 2017. What a great F-ing show. Strange for me. Now that he is dead, only now, do I see and hear, what you guitar freaks are freaking out about. Take care of yourself and R.I.P. Mr. Jeff Beck. May the younger generation carry the baton forward.

    I was blessed to have seen Beck live a few times from the 70’s through the 80’s. I got so busy making music for a living that I really never had a chance to see him live again… bummer. He has influenced my playing more than anyone. The most exquisitely unique Guitarist of ALL Time in my book. I’ve been playing Jeff Beck’s music for well over 40 years… he is still the hardest to copy. From Hendrix to Zappa, all other guitarists are easy in comparison.
    Just a fact. He was always changing, getting better, and growing. Beck was always about taste; that’s why he was and always will be the greatest Melody Maker Guitar Player. End of. 🙏🏼

      Jeff Beck's death hurt me as much as when either of my parents passed away. As a matter of fact, his being on the planet creating some of the most incredible guitar playing was strong heart felt medicine that helped me get thru the day/night. The last year has been extremely hard on me emotionally for various reasons. Listening to his music has been helpful, but it always reminds me that the #GOATGuitarist is no longer with us but his musical endeavors will always be here for his family, friends, & fans to enjoy. How much did I love Jeff Beck ? I got to see him 15 times perform his guitar artistry in concert.
      1) "Fire Meets Fury" with Stevie Ray Vaughan in Chicago, Illinois 1989
      2) 2 times with Santana in 3 days in Illinois & Wisconsin 1995
      3) "Who Else" tour 2 times in Illinois 1999
      4) "You Had It Coming" tour in Illinois 2001
      5) Eric Clapton "Crossroads" shows in 2007 & 2010 in Bridgeview, Illinois

      11) Performed half hour encore with Rod Stewart Hollywood Bowl, Hollywood, California 2019
      12) "18" tour with Johnny Depp Phoenix, Arizona 2022
      EVERY time I saw Jeff Beck perform in concert he never disappointed anyone in attendance. He only got better & better mastering the guitar as the years went on in his life. He was the only musician I have ever seen in my lifetime that propelled me to a place I had only experienced when seeing him live. I was so happy & joyful when I was in attendance watching/listening to him tear it up. I'll never be in that place again unfortunately. I am so grateful & lucky to have seen "The Guv'nor" of guitar as many times as I had. After he passed away, I was feeling every negative feeling anyone could experience. I was devastated. The one thing that helped get me thru the pain was all the famous guitarists & their comments about Jeff Beck. Basically EVERYBODY loved Jeff Beck as far as his guitar playing but also that he was such a kind & humble person to be around. The only thing he loved more than his self made cars & guitar collection was his widow Sandra. Jeff & Sandra were big time animal activists which is another reason why I respected them so much. I miss him. Always will. But I will never forget him or the extraordinary music he created with his guitar. He was "One of One". We will never see another guitarist like him in our lifetime. RIP Jeff Beck.

    WoW! If anyone wonders why Jeff is so revered and loved .. play them this! The album “Blow by blow” is rightly lauded but IMO it’s “Wired”, (where the explosive material here landed from) that is one of the greatest incendiary guitar expositions of all time.

      I hear you, brother, and I’m feeling it too. It’s the loss not just of a great player, but of a beloved mentor and teacher who never stopped showing us new things over his 60 year career. And as the years went on, it was increasingly in his live performances that his genius was on fullest display-the studio recordings are great and will last forever, but that was only half of him.

    I was there that night. Santana played first, excellent as always and ended with a really rousing "Oye Como Va" which brought down the house as of course they are a Bay Area band. Many minutes elapsed until Jeff Beck came on. The house lights finally came down, the band began a slow beat and then there was a sound like an air raid siren coming from offstage. That was Jeff Beck, who strolled on playing perhaps the best ever recorded version of "Hurricane" - the cameraman on this video captured the moment perfectly. From the first notes the crowd was going wild. Beck didn't bring the house down - he burned it down that night! Never to be forgotten and so grateful to have a video record of one of Jeff's best concerts.

    Thanks for sharing this. I was at this show with Ronnie Montrose. Sadly, another important guitarist that left us way too soon. But what an incredible performance overall and an incredible lineup! However, I do remember Jeff having guitar troubles now that I watched the ending. Man! Ripped all of the strings right off that strat. LOL! He sure was p-o'd. Ronnie was developing a portable amp called the Big Amp and he had brought one to give to Jeff. After meeting with him backstage and handing over the amp he promptly came back out feeling rather brushed off. But Jeff was in no mood to talk gear and I can understand why.

    This may be the greatest live Jeff Beck show I've ever seen, and there are plenty to chose from, but this one is really something special. He doesn't overdo the tremolo bar on each note which he started doing, IMO, a bit too much in the upcoming century, especially during live shows. A lot of people don't like the Guitar Shop album saying it's too "techno," I hear what they're saying but that's because they don't hear how great the guitar playing is. And, the Guitar Shop album is where he really started that amazingly precise tremolo bar work, as in "Where Were You," which blew me away and a lot of other great guitar players. The only ones who can do it are on RUclips and 12 years old. And, he kept getting better and better at it, he is truly one of the most innovative electric guitar players of all times. Thank you to whoever posted it.

    • @zlh67
      @zlh67 Год назад +5

      Guitar Shop is a pretty straight rock album imo and I love every note. The next one ("Who Else!") is where some say it's "too techno" but I think it's freakin' brilliant! Most techno music, of course, is just pounding 4-on-the-floor drums with no rhythm or syncopation and OF COURSE, zero guitar (all keys/synths, usually). Totally lifeless, soulless. But Beck fixes all that: there's rhythm, dynamics... excitement. And of course, he adds his own unique touch on the guitar on top of it all. And there's more than just that kind of music, anyway; it's a varied album with straight rock, some blues, some atmospheric rock, etc. It's one of my favorite albums of his! So underrated.....

    • @billdoyne5134
      @billdoyne5134 Год назад +3

      Guitar Shop too techno?
      Huh? Anybody see the Jennifer Batten tour?
      Anyone here hear Flash? That is his only dog in my opinion.
      Guitar shop is a natural evolution from There and Back.
      I've been gobsmacked by theses
      '90's shows, and yeah, this concert is a friggin' sonic masterpiece. That's when you get smug as hell cuz you brought a fried and watched them stare at the sun. And you say to yourself, "told you so!"
      That's how good they are.
      Go to Wolfgang's Vault. No too many shows, but they are Bill Graham's sound board records.
      Jeff and Bill didn't care for each other, but the recording s are great. ✌️🎸

    Saw this band the night before in Sacramento on 9/15/95 with Santana. Awesome performances by both 🎸🎸 Santana went on last and was very good. The set was fun, enjoyable and festive, everything a closing set should be but what Beck did that night was just brilliant and high-potency! That being said, I’ll never forget the Guitar Shop tour in 1989, the first time I saw Beck, who happened to also have Bozzio and Hymas then. Finally got to see Jeff Beck live in 2019 & after working for years working live sound desks, I was amazed how Jeff played so off the cuff with real emotion in the moment.

    Guitar Shop was a very rock album. Seemed like a no-brainer for T Bozzio post Missing Persons. Having achieved drummer rockstar status. But JBs fusion had led a lot of us into jazz already.

    First of all thank you for uploading this great event. I had the pleasure of attending this event. Although it sounds great, like most great artists seeing them live is a unique experience. This is especially true of great guitarists, as the audio experience, in this case was breathtaking. On this tour Santana and Beck rotated closing duties. As this was the SF Bay Area, after Santana opened half the audience left, I improved my seating and enjoyed an absolutely epic show and virtuoso performance.

      Haha. Well, those Santana fans don’t know what they missed. After 50 or so years a fan, I finally saw Beck in 2019, and you’re right, there is no substitute for Jeff’s Marshalls barking at you live. Incredible performer.

      Funny thing was, after Santana did his set the majority of the crowd left; leaving me and all the other guitar nuts to enjoy Beck's amazing guitar work. I remember a guy saying: "I don't like this guitar shred stuff; lets go," which was probably the only time in history where Beck has been wrongfully described as "shred." What a buffoon, right?
      Beck came out in a foul mood. I'm not sure why. My guess was his tinnitus. If I'm not mistaken, I believe Jeff was one of the first artists to use in ear monitors. Maybe he was adjusting? He hadn't toured in years too.
      He looked amazing. Those arms were cut; and that long, thick hair. I remember thinking: "Is this guy getting younger?"
      I made eye contact with Jeff and I seemed to brighten his mood a bit. He smiled because I was simply thrilled to see him. I suppose my enthusiasm was very obvious. ;)
      The buddy I went with was new to Beck. He summarized JB's performance perfectly: "I did not know a guitar could make so many sounds."
      Inside joke: I'll never forget the 8/23 date because 4 years later I married a girl with an 8/23 birthday.
      I'm not going to say you made the wrong choice in concert choosing, but wow....that's a tough one.
      Sorry for talking your leg off; can't help it, I dearly love Geoffrey Arnold Beck; the only guitarist that brings tears down my cheekbone one minute, and makes me wanna fight the next.

    What's interesting with this show is the guitar he is playing is his typical strat but at the time he had the Jeff Beck version that I still think had the lace sensor pickups. Yet this guitar doesn't use those and soon his signature guitar would change to not include lace sensors. Of all the signature guitars Fender has made, the Jeff Beck version never seemed to be the guitar he actually used (lace sensors, or lace sensor humbucker, or LSR roller nut instead of split Wilkinson nut). -P

    Loved the guitar tones this time frame. I'd like to say he was at his prime during the Guitar Shop era, but he just kept kicking it into different areas no man has gone before. Lets just day he had a harder edge coupled with physical attitude & mastery of his instrument. Seen him in New Jersey during this tour running into some old buds from 20 years earlier when I used to play his albums while we partied. They were completely speechless after witnessing Jeff'splaying that evening. I wish I could only play as well as he can on his worst day. Long Live JEFF BECK!!!!!
