Watching Tal in this set, not only is she technically talented far beyond her years, but she has stage presence that is beyond touch! Watching her and Jeff bounce stuff off of each other is something that goes so far beyond just the sound, these two are so closely matched that they seem to feed off the other's playing. This set is such an absolute joy to watch!!!

She already had endorsements form a manufacturer BEFORE Vinnie hooked her up with Jeff. He may have helped her some (EVERY musician picks up improvements from those they work with), but she had her act together well before this!
When my son called me to tell me of Jeff's death, I cried ..... a couple of weeks later, my wife asked me if I was in mourning, I said No, but shortly realized I was ...... now I can't watch any of Jeff's video's without a tear ....... It may always be like that for me, I've seen Jeff many times and saw him on almost every tour since 1991, I bought my son a 1991 Fender JB Signature series guitar in the rare 'midnight purplr" color; my only regret is I never tried to get jeff to autograph the pick guard for me, RIP Maestro....... you were without peer !!!!

Vinnie Colaiuta is the best drummer alive today imho. And Tal Wilkenfeld on bass is incredible. Jeff always plays with like musicians of above and way beyond excellent , like himself.

The keyboard player is WAY underrated! Having watched this entire set several times, he is just a classy journeyman player, nothing obviously flashy, he's just there doing what needs being done! Watching his interplay with both Jeff and Tal is a true joy. This entire band is just too good to believe!
Was at that Crossroads and remember when Beck came out with what looked like a schoolgirl on bass. During the set, Beck pushed her to an other-worldly place, and you could just see her grow on the stage as she matched him lick for lick. Beck loved it and the crowd went crazy. Best Crossroads Festival and best concert ever.
Jeff was one of few that just kept getting better as he went along. I remember what a force he was in the 70’s. The 80’s comes along and he’s better. And so forth, just more amazing as he went. I am just gut wrenched over his passing. Gods blessings and love to his wife and family. I’ll never forget you Jeff, along with countless others. R.I.P. Jeff 🙏🎸

I didnt get to see them together but I've been so very lucky to have seen him front row twice and believe that he is having fun up there. All ya gotta do is show him you dig him and it flips a switch. An old rocker told me that if the audience isnt as spent as the musicians then we didnt do our job. Good to hear bcuz I don't get folks who can just sit there!, not even tap a foot! What is that? He chooses the best for his groups and Tal is one world class Bassist. I do love seeing them in old vids play.
Tal could have been his daughter, in terms of age, they make a great team. The Ronnie Scott dvd (a year or twp before this show) also shows this mutual chemistry and appreciation, in spates.

I discovered jeff with these records with tal, so these versions always seemed more complete. it took a good 10 years for me to get into the more bluesy side not even into yard birds yet...

I'm just days away from turning 66 and now one of greatest regrets is never being blessed to watch this master play live. I will never forget some crazy arguments with some of my Michigan friends years ago who would proclaim that Nugent was faster. RIP Jeff.

At 70,I have seen Jeff Beck several times live and have always been floored by his incredible talent. As a base player I am thrilled to see Tal Wakefield out there representing the next generation of artists…
Some of his stuff isn`t that easy to get into, but his skill with the guitar is undisputable, especially when you look at the session work he has done over the years. he is one of the very few guitar players that you can tell who it is after just a few notes. So sad he is gone, ok he was 78 but was as fit as a fiddle until he took bacterial meningitis - another music legend gone RIP Jeff Beck.
This was the best fusion setup ever. So much love in the air. They read each other like magic. My all-time fav. I have heard these songs thousand times but still I hold my breath waiting for the next note. That's Mr. Jeff Beck, the one and the only.
Of course Jeff is always played with some of the greatest musicians on the planet but I have to admit this is one of my favorite lineups there's some magic going on. Hard to believe this man has been playing for almost 6 decades keeps getting better and better.

That is one talented fearless young lady on that long neck bass matching quite complicated runs lick for lick with Beck.......I cannot fathom how she can keep it up so long and flawlessly. She will be a force to behold in the coming years.
See the "two handed-one neck bass duet" between her and Jeff at Irving Plaza where she had the balls to flick his fingers out of the way so she could "properly" play her part of what obviously was a totally spontaneous, unrehearsed move on both of their parts. For fuck's sake, who DOES that?
I think whats sets Jeff apart from the many other great guitar players is his versatility. He can play literally any type of music,even jazz,and sound brilliant. The greatest electric guitarist ever.
Love to hear Jeff doing Mahavishnu Orchestra stuff. Both he and Jimmy Page rated Mclaughlin as the best of that British upswell of guitar talent in the 60's. But it is always a matter of personal taste with art. It's not a triffling thing like football or politics. It really matters. If you like it, everyone is a winner. If you don't, find something you do like. I think most people who know their guitarists would agree that Jeff was the one who most consistently followed his own path, whilst continually developing his sound. (I hesitate to say improving, because he was good from the get go.) He took breaks, but definitely didn't plateau, tread water or decline. He wouldn't even play his one actual hit single! Saw John Mclaughlin last year. Still shredding in his 80's, like Jeff should be doing. Sad that I missed out on ever seeing him live. He did some cool albums, but he was, above all, a live musician. He also plays Stratus by Billy Cobham in this set, which featured Tommy Bolin on the album. He died far too young, before he was properly appreciated. Thankfully, Jeff didn't. What I take from this is how hard it is to "rank" true greats. Jeff and Mclaughlin both could do things few others could dream of. Both could do things the other couldn't. Both were (are) underappreciated in their home country. Rod Stewart squandered his talent, but gets a knighthood. Thats Britain for you. RIP the great Jeff Beck. Now watch Tal become a true great, above and beyond what she is already.
Amazing concert. The cover of Billy Cobham’s Spectrum is sick. The second I heard Tal start that unmistakeable bass riff, I knew. This takes me way back.
Always loved this set at Crossroads (and the one at Ronnie Scott's with the same lineup. Tal looks as though she's having a blast. What a gig at her age then to be playing with Jeff and Vinnie.
My two favorite shows also!! At my advanced age ( maybe I’m losing my bass hearing) this has way too much piano/ organ/ synthesizer and NOT ENOUGH TAL!!! Imelda May fits them too!
Admired his work from the Yardbirds, JBG, saw the Blow by Blow and Wired tours in the 70's a really unique and fabulous guitarist. He will be much missed. RIP Jeff
I think this is one of the best set up Mr Jeff Beck has have in is long carreer. Perhaps, beside Winni Collaiuta, the other are not the super big musician in the world, but the sound and the ensemble I here in all his performaces with this act is one of the best I ever heard from him. They funcion as a real "BAND" not as a single great musician. Thanks Mr Jef Beck We All miss You a lot.

Just an observation. TBH. You can ask any guitar people across all of the genres to name the top 5 guitarists they know and I am sure Jeff Beck will be on probably 99 percent of those ballots. What I love is the quality of musical excellence he surrounds himself with. I mean, he has nothing to think about but kick ass and take names, thank you very much. It is beyond great.
I’m in the middle of a horrible nightmare that Jeff is gone. As hard as I try I can’t wake up. I keep hearing this hard driving multithreaded chaos of the highest order that only Jeff, Tal, and Vinny can create. Please wake me up and tell me there is more and more to come. Tal adds so much to what Jeff's doing its almost amazing. Can you imagine, generations apart, and still that much cohesion. THIS IS TRUE ART!

I'm just days away from turning 66 and now one of greatest regrets is never being blessed to watch this master play live. I will never forget some crazy arguments with some of my Michigan friends years ago who would proclaim that Nugent was faster.

In the beginning of the "British Invasion" there were 3. Beck, Page and Clapton. Beck has always been in a league of his own.

Some of his stuff isn`t that easy to get into, but his skill with the guitar is undisputable, especially when you look at the session work he has done over the years.
he is one of the very few guitar players that you can tell who it is after just a few notes.
So sad he is gone, ok he was 78 but was as fit as a fiddle until he took bacterial meningitis - another music legend gone RIP Jeff Beck.

Of course Jeff is always played with some of the greatest musicians on the planet but I have to admit this is one of my favorite lineups there's some magic going on. Hard to believe this man has been playing for almost 6 decades keeps getting better and better.

That is one talented fearless young lady on that long neck bass matching quite complicated runs lick for lick with Beck.......I cannot fathom how she can keep it up so long and flawlessly. She will be a force to behold in the coming years.

See the "two handed-one neck bass duet" between her and Jeff at Irving Plaza where she had the balls to flick his fingers out of the way so she could "properly" play her part of what obviously was a totally spontaneous, unrehearsed move on both of their parts. For fuck's sake, who DOES that?

Love to hear Jeff doing Mahavishnu Orchestra stuff. Both he and Jimmy Page rated Mclaughlin as the best of that British upswell of guitar talent in the 60's.
But it is always a matter of personal taste with art. It's not a triffling thing like football or politics. It really matters.
If you like it, everyone is a winner. If you don't, find something you do like.
I think most people who know their guitarists would agree that Jeff was the one who most consistently followed his own path, whilst continually developing his sound.
(I hesitate to say improving, because he was good from the get go.)
He took breaks, but definitely didn't plateau, tread water or decline. He wouldn't even play his one actual hit single!
Saw John Mclaughlin last year. Still shredding in his 80's, like Jeff should be doing. Sad that I missed out on ever seeing him live.
He did some cool albums, but he was, above all, a live musician.
He also plays Stratus by Billy Cobham in this set, which featured Tommy Bolin on the album. He died far too young, before he was properly appreciated. Thankfully, Jeff didn't.
What I take from this is how hard it is to "rank" true greats.
Jeff and Mclaughlin both could do things few others could dream of.
Both could do things the other couldn't.
Both were (are) underappreciated in their home country.
Rod Stewart squandered his talent, but gets a knighthood.
Thats Britain for you.
RIP the great Jeff Beck. Now watch Tal become a true great, above and beyond what she is already.
Amazing concert. The cover of Billy Cobham’s Spectrum is sick. The second I heard Tal start that unmistakeable bass riff, I knew. This takes me way back.

Always loved this set at Crossroads (and the one at Ronnie Scott's with the same lineup. Tal looks as though she's having a blast. What a gig at her age then to be playing with Jeff and Vinnie.

My two favorite shows also!! At my advanced age ( maybe I’m losing my bass hearing) this has way too much piano/ organ/ synthesizer and NOT ENOUGH TAL!!!

I think this is one of the best set up Mr Jeff Beck has have in is long carreer. Perhaps, beside Winni Collaiuta, the other are not the super big musician in the world, but the sound and the ensemble I here in all his performaces with this act is one of the best I ever heard from him. They funcion as a real "BAND" not as a single great musician. Thanks Mr Jef Beck We All miss You a lot.

Just an observation. TBH. You can ask any guitar people across all of the genres to name the top 5 guitarists they know and I am sure Jeff Beck will be on probably 99 percent of those ballots. What I love is the quality of musical excellence he surrounds himself with. I mean, he has nothing to think about but kick ass and take names, thank you very much. It is beyond great.

I’m in the middle of a horrible nightmare that Jeff is gone. As hard as I try I can’t wake up. I keep hearing this hard driving multithreaded chaos of the highest order that only Jeff, Tal, and Vinny can create. Please wake me up and tell me there is more and more to come. Please so I can go to my grave in peace😢
