A supernatural guitar genius and a most decent and generous human being. RIP
This was a fabulously laid back interview❤ He was so humble and nice guy. I watched an interview with Eric Clapton. He was still recovering from COVID and went to see Jeff in the hospital. He had no idea how sick he was until he walked in and saw all the tubes. When he left he got very emotiona,l When he died he went thru depression. He said Jeff Beck WAS the greatest guitarist in history. The day of his funeral he told Jeffs wife that some of the quitar legends just got together and was going to do a tribute to Jeff at Albert Hall in London. She told him that would be absolutely wonderful. R.I.P Jeff Beck. We were so blessed to have both you and your talent.❤❤
I'm 63 and been a fan since I was a teen. I still want to be able to play like him when I grow up.
Me too.
❤
Sorry folks, no offense, but it can never happen. He was 1 of 1
@@frankfunicello550 yes, true. But it's something to aspire to.
don't we all...
An intelligent humble man.
Greatly appreciated and missed.
He was the greatest. Unbelievable skills and musical expression. There will never be a second Jeff Beck. Rest in peace .....
Well said, absolutely agree, there is no other position.
Would not use the term greatest but he brought something unique like Hendrix, would not call him the greatest either, they do different stuff !
He's the best that ever picked up a six string and every professional guitarist that isn't green with envy and jealously knows this, no question about it
I agree on a level with les paul for innovation, unequaled in playing talent, also a superb songwriter.
Jeff Beck, A music treasure.
When you get to work at that level,it
looks amazing and easy! So guilted, all
things great in the music world 🌎
R.I.P. Our friend!💔☮️✌️
Was a terrible lost. Everytime i see to jeff playing is magic. RIP.
🙏💜🙏
Hearing him was even better, 😊 sorry I just wanted to make you laugh. I miss him too.
He's gone but we still have the amazing music he left us!
I must've watched this at least 20 times by now, it never ceases to amaze me what kind of player Jeff is Every time he picks up a guitar he pulls the emotion out of me, making me a better player and broadening my horizons as a musician. I know he's been gone a couple of months now but his music will live on forever. RIP Jeff Beck, the "master of the stratocaster."
Well said , lad. THE most important musician in my whole life !! Changed me and .u playing abilities, Forever!
I , too , will Miss him FOREVER
Right??? Well put, Paul…
DAMN I MISS HIM !
Even i am as tone deaf person and recently exposed (2021) to jeff back songs and play feels so sad for his departure can't imagine how much loss a guitarist feel towards his departure. Farewell legends, you may be gone but your masterpiece will all be forever
I don't need to listen to Jeff Beck "talk" about music, I just need to listen to him play music. HE IS MUSIC
Well, he also plays the guitar in between the talks...
I'm not a musician, but I've been mesmerized by the uniqueness of Jeff Beck's talent. This explains it all to me. What an incredible, deep-dive interview into the series of events that went into the creation of such a rare talent. Gone way too soon. RIP, Jeff Beck. You are sorely missed...
Karen ~ Jeff also did much session work , that's just amazing also : Roger Waters , Frankie's House ...many more.
Simply irreplaceable !
Definitely
I think that is possibly the greatest interview of a guitarist I’ve ever seen! Absolutely brilliant.
Definitely ❤
What a privilege it was to have watched this! Thank You!
What a gem of a man and guitarist. We all gotta go at some point, but man, it's tough to see such heavy hitters as JB pass on. What a legacy
My favorite RIP Jeff my friend
As George Harrison once Said: “He is the music. You can see when he enters the room. He doesn’t need a guitar.”
But when he took one on it was just beyond.
Saw him twice in concert. The only great guitar that never got boring.
Lovely man to listen to and to watch.
The pinnacle of what one can achieve on guitar.
missed seeing him play in my area then he was gone, biggest regret, damn I miss & love❤ himhe was just 8 years older then me been fan since thexvery beginning 💔 ❤❤❤😊
Harrison was a beautiful spirit
Rod Stewart was made to sing blues and rock. When he started singing pop and chick ballads I was depressed and he has never been the same.
Born in 56 ive heard all the great rock and jazz guitarists.
Just my opinion, but JB is the greatest because he can play anything and everything with feeling
Miss you so much, Jeff…
Англия это злобные политиканы и великие музыканты.
I once had the pleasure of seeing him Live in Linz, Austria. When he played “Women of Ireland”, I cried. Beautiful.
@@user-ly7iy7tr2cRussia is evil politicians, bad musicians and great hockey players. 😅
I miss you Jeff. The first time I heard I said to myself this is how I want play
I play guitar for over 40 years now, and growing up in the 80s hard rock frenzy, never "got" Beck. But I did catch up later. What a player. THE guitar player, to me, for rock.
Great clip, we don’t get much quality programming over here in the states.
Thanks
There is no comparison of Jeff Beck to any other guitarist or musician. He was his own genre! RIP Maestro!
The man who took the guitar to places no-one had or has ever been before.
The interviewer should have given Jeff an opportunity to expand on his John McLaughlin reference. McLaughlin's influence on Jeff was pivotal in his exploration of fusion jazz
Becks Bolero...5 half steps never sounded better...!!!😃👍
A turning point in my life was the first time I heard Blue Wind. I was 16 and rather one-dimensional when it came to music. I was at a concert waiting for a band to come on stage. In the meantime, they were playing a new record through the stacks. I asked a friend what that incredible song was. It was the aforementioned Blue Wind. It blew my mind and opened up new horizons into jazz for me. Soon afterward I was listening to everything from Frank Zappa and Chick Corea, to Bill Evans and Miles Davis. For that, I will be forever grateful to Jeff Beck. Oh, the band finally did come on stage. Led Zeppelin.
I still cant believe hes gone. Damn.
I broke out in tears, listening his music today. What a great guy he was! He was a singer and the guitar was his voice.
When he said Blow by Blow was his favorite album, I can’t believe that the crowd sat quietly, are they daft? That is a milestone in music, rock or jazz. RIP Jeff
Kind of a polite, reserved crowd and setting I guess. Blow by Blow is a masterpiece, and his biggest seller. Jeff is no doubt proud of Guitar Shop as well, and rightfully so.
Wore that eight track 😅cassette out. O.D'd
on "listening" again😊
That album is as good today as ever. I've heard it since the late 90s.
"Blow by Blow" has been in my Top 10 since it's release. Beck created a new genre.
"Blow by Blow" has been in my Top 10 favorite albums for 48 years.
100% genius... and as many accolades, STILL underrated as a guitarist
Truly one of the all-time masters of the craft but I must admit one thing, he's got a big NOSE.
I just love Jeff Beck🥰 I’m so sad he is gone to soon💔
This video made me happy but also so sad at the same time. Funny how emotions work. I had the privilege of seeing him some years back here in NZ, I will never forget that night, it was a surprise outing from my wife & she kept it quiet for some time. It was certainly a surprise and one I cherish🙂
Like losing a family member. We will miss him forever.
I miss him so much. Jimi and Jeff changed what people heard from guitars forever.
The world has seen some great guitarists and I take nothing away from them by saying Jeff was a legend. He was the guitarist's guitarist. He never stopped experimenting with sound and music genre. He could play anything and make it look effortless. We have lost the man but he left us a treasure chest full of his priceless work.
Stellar interview 🤫
Unbelievable!!!
I often wonder when a gifted person such as Jeff Beck... leaves this world where does all that God given talent go.??
It's such a great loss to humanity that someone God Given talent is lost forever .....I Miss His Music So Much 🙏
It's been a real treat... how lucky we all were to have you around.
So emotional watching this wonderful interview. Saw Jeff playing with the Tridents as a teenager and many times since. He was always destined to be a wonderful guitarist but his humility and generosity to his fellow musicians is second to none. The sadness of his passing is indescribable as he was still at the cutting edge of new music, all we can do is be thankful that we were around to share in his life and music. RIP Jeff
Great to have these guys interviewed about music and digging in a little. His versatility and drive to do more and differently musically set him apart from his contemporaries like Page and Clapton. There are very few capable of wringing those noises out of a guitar and hardly any with the sense of melody and phrasing to make me want to listen.
Jeff Beck is an absolute legend, and in the best possible way - the humility, there's no bragging, just talent and honesty. Plus whenever he picks up a guitar I get excited in a way I don't get from most players, including myself, because I know I'm 100% guaranteed to hear something really good that I wish I could play that well. ❤
that rendition of A Day In The Life though! 😱
7:08 "Can you give us a little demo?" Jeff was already reaching for his guitar. I love that.
“My friend Nicholas, who is 20 times better than me.” What a nice self deprecating thing to say. He then points to Nicholas.
I have been to see Nicolas Meier and he really is as amazing as Jeff says he is!
@@mogulmeisterCan he play “Where were you”?
According to David Gilmour and Brian May that song is unplayable
😊😊
Long live the King of the Strat! 🎸🎼🇨🇦
i saw them at The Singer Bowl in ? Queens NY they were amazing !! Truth is one of the only albums i listen to and its always fresh
In the annals of post WWII music Jeff Beck will sit atop the Pantheon of great musicians/guitarists having truly mastered his craft. I think of the likes of Oscar Peterson, Miles, Trane, Parker, Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, John McLaughlin, The Beatles, Jimi to name a few and yes, Jeff will be on that special list too. One must realize he gave us nearly 60 years of pushing the envelope with his guitar. 60 years not wasted on resting on his laurels. 60 years of great music. And I'm fortunate to have lived through all of that, to bear witness, to have so enjoyed seeing him perform a few times live and up close. Thanks for that, Jeff, rip.
Thank you so much for your comment!
When I was a teenager in 1968, I never would have dreamed that a Rock Guitar Geezer would be loved by everybody with ears in the world!
Despite its massive overuse, their really is only one word to encapsulate the talent, and creativity of Jeff Beck. And that word is genius.
*there. My apologies
Like Woody Allen
He just described his music perfectly: “endless colour”. Spot on…
RIP my man ❤
I still find hard to believe Jeff's gone.
I was looking this full
Interview every where. Thank you. ❤
Wow bloody amazing thank you
Thank you for sharing this wonderful moment in the life of my lifetime hero. There is and only will be one Jeff Beck.
Genius!!! 🤓
Jeff Beck, was and always will be the guitar God. No one can compare. Rip Jeff.
Pure guitar genius. RIP Jeff, love your work.
Wow!!....... Just wow!!!
I saw you MANY years ago...live!!!!
What an excellent interview! Jeff is irreplaceable and greatly missed! ❤
Hands-down, Jeff Beck is a genius on the guitar! He developed his own style uncopiable! RIP gone too soon…
Britain's great guitarist, born to be unbeatable, sadly missed and forever loved.😢
Where Were You, the music he played at 17:41, is incredibly touching. It sounds like eternity and makes me miss the people I've lost but, there's hope in there too.
🙏🔥🙏
Where were you? My favorite melody
What amazes me is the sheer effortlessness of his playing of different styles. That's what thousands of hours of structured practice sounds like.
17:35 Love seeing the smiles on people's faces as he plays this. That kind of playing goes through the ears and straight into to your soul. Almost unbelievable how it can immediately bring tears.
18:00 -- blimey... what astonishing playing. I'm a grown man, I need to dry my eyes and wipe my nose. Thank you very much for uploading this.
Oh dear: A Day In The Life, and I'm off again...!
This is gold❤
I’m not crying, you are. Ugh, this was so tough to watch. I adore Mr Beck and his music.
I think I cry every time
He plays the music of the spheres. It’s otherworldly
An amazing guitarist who was introduced to me by best friend of 50 years, a guitarist himself who lost his fight against cancer in 2021. Both are missed deeply! RIEP Lester and Jeff❤❤❤
He was a Genius RIP
I never try to play like Jeff. He's just so out there and such a master of technique it is pure magic. And I don't ever want to think of it as anything but magic. So I just breathe a big sigh of relief that I don't have to learn what he's doing and have decided to just accept it as magic. RIP Jeff
Well put !
I absoloutely agree. We should never try to copy or touch the magic. We should only ever appreciate the magic, let it inspire and touch our emotions to create our own magic too, if we can. Should we ever touch the magic, what it was that you loved, will never be the same again. That wonderment should always remain with this Magician of Music. Just leave the magic where it lives, with this wonderful person! ❤️
@@afriendafanforever1730 Yep.
The one and only the greatest guitar player of all time, he's not gone he's immortal.
His is the only version of Little Wing I've heard that touches Jimi's. He nails the feeling and the sound of the song, and I've never heard that done by others. Then he talks about how he never got over his lack of confidence, how he always has to reassure himself of his worth. Dude, amazing. Just amazing.
Agreed! Lots of players have fingers that move fast, but it is the precious few whos fingers can weave that magic expressiveness.
I dunno.... SRV could nail Jimi pretty well.
YMMV, @mattgwardesq, after all, it's music!
To me, SRV added flashes & flourishes that are more of the head than the heart. Jimi was singing about his love, and there's a purity and tenderness there that I don't hear in most of his other music. No doubt that SRV is great, but to me he's flashier and Jimi got straight to it.
@@GreedRuinsEverythingSRV worshiped Johnny Winter another Texas guitar slinger.
The UK has pronounced some of the best guitarist in the world ...I feel I've been so lucky to have been born to experienced music played at it's most brilliant tones and feed back hammer ones and basic foot stompin rock n roll ...I luv that breed of music.Good ol American freedom be
Please God make this Genius very very happy in heaven. Very sad to see him go . God bless this guitar Genius Jeff you are a legacy player. RIP GENIUS
Unbelievable modesty, the guy just blows me away. Genius and a huge loss, it's hard to think we won't be seeing or hearing him on stage again. Thankful that I got to see him live quite a few times. One of the few musicians who can literally bring me to tears. A true one-off.
What a humble, lovely guy. Great interview. Jeff is sadly missed. I hate it when the old British rockers leave us. We need them, to inform and inspire the young ones, more than ever.
....MORE , Than Ever 💜
The greatest tribute to Jeff was that his Memorial Concert sounded sadly lacking because Jeff wasn't playing. A massive void...
So humble what a nice guy!!!
Awesome interview Malcolm, really did your homework on Jeff, kept the interview rolling and put Jeff at ease, you could see he was stoked to show his abilities, cudos!🎉🎉
What the world lost when Jeff died, is immeasurable. One of the greatest guitarists of all time. Jazz, Rock, North African, Blues, Flamenco, Funk, Classical, Folk -- he knew it all.
A creative powerhouse.
🎶😪🎸He was an extraordinary gentleman who had an extraordinary gift throughout his extraordinary life! "You don't miss your water until the well runs dry"! This 'Gearhead Guitarist' is fondly remembered & deeply missed!😢💔 Rest In Peace my Brother, Rest In Peace!🎸😪🎶
What a great loss, to lose Jeff.
What a loss. There is technique that has left this world and a heart of gold that will never be replaced. RIP
Masterclass!!!
Breathtaking as always. Forever he will be missed. Truly sent from heaven. Interesting that he said his back up guitarist is 20 times better than him, what a humble man.
I have been playing for over 40 years. I could have infinite lifetimes and NEVER come close. Never. Jeff is once in forever.
Magic hands. It just doesn’t look like he’s doing that much. Never gets old listening to him play… or speak.
what a wonderful gift, especially now that we've lost him
Just a AMAZING video and a AWESOME Guitar Player and we will always have his music. Rest in peace Jeff.
Jeff - what a delightful guy - and clearly, a Musician's Musician!
Sublime as always.

gone too soon. amazing Jeff, amazing musician
Wow!! An intimate night with Jeff Beck. I would have loved to have attended this. I'm 71 and was a Yardbird fan from the beginning. He was one of the inspirations that got me interested in playing guitar. I saw him 4 or 5 times and we were always so impressed. I love you Jeff. You are sorrily missed.
Love Jeff beck always be number - 1 guitarist in the world RIp jeff legend
Pure gold. Thanks for sharing,
Gone too soon, but what a life he had!
