I went to a "gig" in something called "Brøndby Poppen" right outside Copenhagen, sometime in 1968. This evening there were two bands on the program. One was Jeff Beck Group and the other was an unknown (at the time) band called Jethro Tull. Unfortunately Jeff Beck group's gear didn't turn op, so they had to cancel. But Mister Beck wouldn't let down his fans, so he plugged his guitar in to one of the amps and played all by himself for almost an hour. I've never heard anything like it neither before nor after that night. Sadly, most of the audience didn't appreciate what they experienced, but saved all off their applause for this other (unknown) band. Well, they were good. But nowhere near what the "Guvenor" served us. I felt ashamed that they didn't show Mr. Beck how fantastic, what he had served us, were. But instead, almost went crazy over Jethro Tull. Never mind. I for one, shall never forget his fantastic playing that night. I have heard him five times since then, but that night will always stay with me as something special.
Steen..! What a terrific story...seems so typical of what a guy like him would do. It's so saddening to know that he's not among us now. Rest in Peace Jeff, in the Light of Almighty God..!
Strange no mention of Roy! or did I miss it? Buchanan was a huge influence on Jeff Beck who dedicated his version of Cause We've Ended As Lovers to him. Beck imitated his pinched harmonics and volume swells, that was a colossal part of his playing starting in the george martin era.
Discovered him with the Blow by Blow album, huge influence on my pwn playing, he was the only performer ( to date) to have me in floods of tears ( of joy) at his playing, most notably "A day in the life" at the O2 London arena 2010 where he opened for Clapton but blew him well away. Just saw him yet again this time with Johnny Dep last October, I'm deeply saddened at his passing.
I'd long been a Yardbirds fan and first saw Jeff in the JBG w/Wood, Stewart & Nicky Hopkins as a lad of 17 in 1969 which blew my teenage mind. Have also seen BB&A and many solo shows over the years. My #1 Beck album is Truth but BBB is a close #2. RIP Jeff. You will be sorely missed.
I stole the 8-trk. of 'Rough and Ready' that my dad, to my surprise, had bought when I headed west in 1977. Love that album, along with 'Truth', 'Blow by Blow', and 'Wired', the four JB albums I know best. ❤️ Rest In Peace and Power, Jeff Beck, eternal love and gratitude for the music and inspiration.
l have no idea how this line-up fragmented. Bob Tench had a voice better than Rod Stewart's to my mind. Max Middleton was perfect. Cozy Powell was perfect. One of the most muscular albums of the early 70's. Sure, Blow By Blow is terrific, but Rough and Ready is the last Jeff Beck album with lyrics, with a gifted lead singer. We never know the dynamics behind the scenes.
In 1975 Blow by blow was my introduction to Jeff's musical genius. I wore that album out trying my best to emulate him on my first guitar, a Les Paul Copy from a pawn shop. I have sicce bought the cassette, the CD and now the digital versions of this great album. Every single guitar note/chord, drum beat and bass-line is imprinted in my brain. I'll miss your music Jeff but it is what you left us to listen to that will keep your presence on earth for many decades to come.
What a warm and insightful piece about the “top one of one”. I never knew about Jeff’s childhood accident and the terrible legacy that left him with. Still, he overcame all that. There are some nice humorous stories about him. My favourite was about when he was auditioning drummers and along came Cozy Powell. Jeff went into the office asked the girl who was organising it who was left. She said his name, Beck was none the wiser, and asked what he was like, to which the girl said “I think you’ll like the look of him!” This puzzled Beck and he returned to the studio wondering what her cryptic remark meant, whereupon Powell walked into the studio. He could have been Jeff’s twin!
Thank you for the correction Kestral! I had the gist of it and tried to imagine how the encounter ended! The “your brother has arrived” is even better!

Excellent video! Jeff's Mick Jagger comments are hilarious! lol... Love "Blow by Blow". "Truth" is absolutely essential listening, and I also quite like the "Orange" album. Some of Jeff's more recent stuff is pretty stunning. Jeffrey never got old, he stayed young, fresh, and state-of-the-art. A true one-off. He shoulda lived forever.
Great documentary on one of my main inspirations as a lifelong guitarist and musician. Jeff Beck was one of a kind and always pushing the boundaries, as I do with my playing. There are many who can copy, but few who can push into different sonic and melodic ranges. Jeff and Jimi were on to new territory, always adventuring boldly and inspiring us all.
1976.. Comiskey park (baseball stadium) in Chicago. Jeff was touring with Jan Hammer for the live album. A big deal all day show. Stu Day Band and Rick Derringer, then Jeff, then Aerosmith (not MY choice, lol). Halfway through Jeff's set someone's fireworks started the stands on fire. They left the stage, we sat in the outfield watching the fire get taken care of, glad for the smoke as that was the only shade we'd had all day. No panic, no stampede, no big deal. Once they had taken care of that, Jeff and the band came back out and finished their set. What a fantastic performance! RIP to one of the greats! I've stolen so much inspiration from you Jeff! thank you.
R.I.P. to Mr. Jeff Beck. The best guitarist, musician that ever lived. The master will be sadly missed forever in my world .This is the best dock I have seen on my guitar hero. Thank you so much for this. I love the Frank Zappa part. He is my next favorite guitarist ever.
Well, I'm 67 now, and like you I still have that "blow by blow" vinyl up in my closet. I used to get buzzed with my buds, then come home around 1 or so in the morning, then crawl to my bed, strap on the headphones and carefully lay my needle on that LP and let it rip! Those were the days -- young folks just will never know what it's like to hear Jeff live, then a year or two later to have the album and freak out all over it in all its' analog glory. Jeff Beck was an era unto himself, and now the legend has passed. It's a damn shame to see him go. RIP Jeff, and yes, thanks for the memories.
For, rough and ready, as well as Jeff Beck group with Bob Tench on vocals....Beck, Bogart and Appice also....RIP sir and thanku so much for the music that will live on forever.
Jeff Beck's playing on Roger Water's much underappreciated Amused to Death album is masterful. Buy it now! Jeff liked to exercise his right to bare arms. I respect that.
Thanks for this! RIP Jeff! In the dictionary under legend there is a picture of Jeff. My fave is Wired, but love everything he contributed and contributed to. He just kept getting better and pushing the boundaries of guitar technique. 🎸🌟
This is Great ive known Eric Johnson since 1978 btw he was the only one who could play Jeff Beck right after those records came out... wonderful pictures and stories thank you...
Truth had the most incredible guitar tones since Are You Experienced?. The opening track, Shapes, was a complete reinvention that let the world know something different was happening. It really gave Electric Ladyland a run for its money.
There are no words to describe just how much of a virtuoso and musical force of nature Jeff Beck really is. I say "is" because his works are numerous and will go on forever. The tragedy is we won't get to see him play in concert ever again. I understand how life works for us all-we know not the day or the hour, but as a guitarist and a dedicated admirer of Jeffrey Arnold Beck, I'm shattered. I love most all of his music, but "Wired" has amazed me since I bought it the first day it was released in 1976 and I put it on the turntable and was just astounded at what was going into my ears! It still excites me and commands my attention even today-A virtual masterpiece! There will never, ever be anyone even resembling or coming close to the Great Jeff Beck.
Jeff was my idol. I still can't believe he's gone,, my heart is just broken. He along with Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page& John May all were my favourite guitarists. It's so many great ones, but these touched my heart the most. I first saw Jeff with the Yardbirds, when I was around 11 yrs old. I know I was young, but my uncle& cousin had me listening to the great bands in the mid 60,s, and I followed Jeff his whole career. We lost one of the greatest guys ever. I will miss him so much. I'm so happy I have his albums& my videos I've recorded about him over the years, RIP sweet guy☮️💙🎸😢💔
Sad loss no,one will sound like jeff again master of the whammy bar and volume control one off thanks for all the years of listening to you rip jeff your will never be forgotten by millions 🙏
I absolutely love Wired, with Blow by Blow being a close second, then followed by Truth!!! While I prefer his playing during the “pick” years from 1965 - 1982, I really respect and admire his sans plectrum playing, which is also extraordinary.
Blow by Blow is my favorite album also !............................Saw him twice on stage !!.............First time was in Beaumont, Texas with Page in the Yardbirds !!!......................Years later in Houston I heard note by note of his Blow by Blow concert !!!!.............Stunning !!!...........
Nice documentary. Blow By Blow is my favorite too. Truth is right up there too. Odd that you never mentioned the second Jeff Beck Group but you went right to BBA. Anyway it’s all good. RIP Jeff. The greatest guitar player
Another great vid on another great artist. Saw him once with Bogert and Appice in 73 in Providence. Opening acts were Wet Willie and Paul Butterfield. Gone but never to be forgotten, RIP JB!!!!!
Jeff’s birthday was yesterday & I saw him 4 years ago only 3 months later to hear he passed and was blown away😔It was the best concert I have ever been too & to see one of my guitar heroes🤘I’m 45 & no one will ever replace his music & I am always learning from him even after 3 decades of playing guitar. A well done mini doc and you got another subscriber especially after seeing you know who Rory Gallagher is 🤘🎸🤘(another guitar hero of mine & doesn’t get the credit he deserves) I am glad your channel was recommended to me. Keep rocking !🤘
Jeff and Jimmy Page were tight yet loose, loosely tight, when Page was asked to replace Clapton in the yardbirds he recommended Jeff, but every one knows this, or should...for a short time they later shared lead guitar in the yardbirds, very cool..never knew about Jeff's medical problems, makes sense with all if his frustrations during his life...nothin worse than lingering head trauma...Of all the folks that he knew, it was jimmy Page who was asked to induct him into the rock n roll hall of fame...I'm pretty sure that says something...jeff beck, Jimmy's favorite guitarist and he will be missed...
Your channel is AWESOME.. it’s great for the “ older “ generation. We still love the music & want to know about our artists, we loved in our youth.. and still love
Oh Man! I’m almost 65 and having a tuff time seeing all these living legends leave us. However, I’m very thankful that I was able live through the renaissance of Rock & Roll. RIP Mr. Beck
Thank you for telling us the begining of Jeff Beck. Great gentleman maestro Jeff Beck. Bless you for this time of Jeff Beck history...we love Jeff Beck.
Definitely! Jeff doesn't take a backseat to no other guitarist. He kept growing and reinventing himself. He kept pushing himself and the guitar to new and wondrous sounds of magic
Most definitely Vincent L. Luckily now we have Spotify and RUclips to search and see/listen to many guitarist's that I personally had never heard of. Some of which are fantastic
Roy Buchanan was a huge mentor to jeff and other 60s greats ... he had the volume swells etc down by 1960 and the most amazing tone ... all ghese guys never mention roy ... they should go learn somd music history and who followed who..
@@vincentl.9469 from same city roy was and basically a lesser known equal to roy at around same time.. another suicide victem .. so sad .. was going to mention him but roy by far was more of an influence on jeff .. lonnie mack got some his licks from roy too ... good concert of roy , lonnie and abert king think it is ...some where here on YT ..
Thank so much for these insights of JB. Loved to hear those stories . I agree that Blow by Blow is the his best album, and a truly game changer in the music industrie.
Thank you for this. I have admired Jeff’s work since I was a kid in the mid 1960’s. So much emotional depth. And when I was in Hawaii getting my life into focus, Blow By Blow. He is one of my most favorite players. Thank you so much for this short. It’s touched my heart,
long time player here I was hooked the day I heard a flip side titled " Jeff's Boogie". From Truth to Ronny Scott"s, I couldn't start to pick an absolute fave. Caught him in downtown Manhattan and a stand up concert. Jennifer Batten played a perfect assist for him. Killer players
Blow By Blow....There And Back and Wired are my 3 favorite albums by Jeff ....Goodbye Porkpie Hat...still blows me away...I have it and the Mingus original saved one after the other on my go to list. RIP Jeff Beck
Great stuff. All us wannabes ate up ‘Blow by Blow’. Thanks for mentioning Phil Chen. I had to learn his part on Rod Stewart’s ‘Do You Think I’m Sexy’. Great bass lesson! Anyway Jeff Beck was so special. I was listening to ‘Brush With the Blues’ last night. Live recording and Jeff is in top form! ❤
You're welcome. Chen is one of them guys many musicians have never heard of and he made so many great songs sound that way because of his playing. I considered him ahead of his time on bass. This was a video about Jeff but I just had to get Phil's name in there :-) Thanks for watching!
Another person who was very important to Jeff was John McLaughlin. He encouraged Jeff to go it alone at a time when he was unsure about making his next move. Jeff rated John very highly as a guitarist, composer and mentor.
jeff beck---what a talent, what technique,....after his passing i went back and re-listened to some of those early albums,.i must say i recognize the talent there, but-to me, beck really reached his zenith when he began more of the jazz-fusion stylings of blow by blow and wired,...thanks to tommy bolin for his influence in becks exploration into that style. bolin and beck were on tour when bolin unfortunately overdosed,....beck promptly hired bolin's band and finished the tour. rip jeff and tommy.......if there is a rock-n-roll band in heaven , the guitar section is covered well......
Really wonderful video, great story telling and fantastic voice. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this well made video, keep up the great work and God Bless.
I enjoyed your tribute to the great Jeff Beck. Blow By Blow is also my favorite album of his. It's a masterpiece of an album with great material, performances, production, sound and sequencing.
Roy Buchanan was in 1960 ... where beck learnt alot of his tricks ... this guy talking knows shit .. roy wrote and played, my friend jeff .. and beck dedicated , s wonders song ... cause we ended as lovers to Roy on blow by blow .. Roy devoloped the volume swells etc first by 1960 ... Roy buchanan was the player the 60s greats like beck etc came to see play and learn off ... known as ... the worlds greatest unkown guitarist ...all these beck tribute people never mention how much roy influenced him ..
For soooooo many of us guitarists Jeff Beck was always way up front forging new directions and ideas..... chopping away with his six stringed "Machete" blazing new trails...a true "Explorer" who could and did posses a rare ability to Re-invent himself...while many others were just repeating themselves....Jeff always managed to stay upfront to continue to blaze a new guitar trail....A real "pioneer".....Thank you Jeff for being yourself
Blow By Blow - magnificent, and I remember the impact as a 20 year old back then. Not only Beck, but what a rhythm section! Later in my career, I was extremely lucky to work - and shake hands with - the genius George Martin.
I have no words to describe Jeff Beck that has not already been written.I do know he was one of my favorite guitarist and I hold him in the same likes as Hendrix , Clapton , Page and Eric Johnson as my all time favorites. Blow by Blow is one of my favorites by Jeff as well. Jeff’s passing has reminded me to enjoy the remaining artists while they’re still here. RIP Jeff Beck , you will never be replaced or forgotten ! 🙏👍👏👋🎸
Blow by Blow for me, Wired a very close second. To me Jeff Beck was the greatest guitarist that ever lived. Most would say Hendrix, but that was for a certain time. Beck was more versatile and could play all styles. Beck was the guitar, even Jeff’s sense of humor was in his playing. That story of the girls thinking he was Mick Jagger is hilarious. Jeff Beck is the one guitarist that almost everyone wanted to be. He even made his Les Paul sound like a Strat. If you listen to Blow by Blow, it was mostly on his 54’ OxBlood one. Later on he gave away to the pick and said I have 5 fingers lol. No one sounds like him or can play like him still to this day. I was mad the fist time I heard of his death, then I was sad. He will be greatly missed, but his music will live on forever.
Had Hendrix lived, and kept on growing as a player I still think Jeff would have been right at the top with him. I just can't see anyone being better than Jeff Beck. Thanks for watching and your comment! Hope you subscribe to the channel.
@@RiverDocs I love Hendrix and he died so young, he would’ve improved from already being incredible. That being said, Jeff Beck is the guitar. Proving my point lol as you know, listen to Good bye porkpie hat, when Jeff played that aggressive loud note then quietly rolled off the volume. His control was pitch perfect. It still gives me goosebumps lol. I had a Strat custom made for me, I call it Jeff, that’s how much Beck means to me. I subscribed to your channel and looking forward for the next Video. Keep it going and listen to Blow by Blow once more couldn’t hurt lol
@@michaelheller8841 Thanks for the sub. Appreciate it. Well from all I have ever read or heard on Jeff he left the drugs alone. Didn't even really drink all that much. A Shame Jimi couldn't have done that. But give Jeff the credit for longevity and striving to better himself. That in itself puts him on top in my book. Cheers!
Well I didn't mention Middleton either. I guess I could have spent the whole 15 minutes talking just about that album and the recording, but I had to move on. It was such a great album with some of the finest players around on it for sure. Thanks for watching!
This was a tough loss for me. Been a devoted fan since 1965. I think there it is a dead tie between Blow by Blow and There and back.. Loved them both. Diamond Dust and the Final Peace are my favorite songs. Sorry to see you leave the party so soon, Jeff. Looking forward to meeting you in the here after soon, only not too soon.
I was given a copy of There And Back when it came out...played along with it for days till I knew every note. I still quote bits from it to this day...😎🎸👍
Trower has a sound and a style all of his own.I have only his live album. Too Rolling Stoned song he did the most frecious soloing and really let it all out. It didn't even sound like a Strat anymore. It sounded like it was yelling "put me down".He is definitely a player to be reckoned with as he is one of the greatest players ever to embrace the Strat and make every beginner run out and buy one!
I went to a party with my older brother around 1972 when I was 15. I knew nobody there but I heard this amazing guitar sound coming from the other room so I went in to find a turntable playing Rough and Ready. It was like a den off of the back yard. Nobody was in there but me. I played the album at least three times and then bought it within a few days. I knew of him from the Yardbirds but this album really blew me away. He has remained one of my all-time favorite guitarists. His guitar turns into a human when he plays it. Like a gospel or blues singer. He was all about the melodies and the tonal nuances. A true artist.
Blow By Blow is my favorite too! I first heard it with some very hip friends I was hanging out with and was immediately in love with that record! Wired came next, and I will always welcome a Blue Wind howling across my speakers! Jeff's DVD, Live @ Ronnie Scott's changed my life AGAIN! I needed to be inspired at that time and the tears of joy were flowing!
Blow By Blow is my favorite Jeff Beck album with Wired being a very close second. Saw Jeff in 1999 at Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto. I had 2nd row seats and it's the best show I've ever seen.
Great video and info!. It makes sense that George Martin would be that guy. Blow by Blow was a masterpiece. My favorite too. Love the stuff about Mick too. lol.
Way to many good things I could say about Jeff Beck and SRV , and much sadness loosing them both. Sometimes I can't listen to either one ,without complete Joy or just falling apart. I've commented more than once, " I really wish I could here what ZAPPA thought about the Slime oozing out of the TV set these days?" It would be in your face for sure. Such a good documentary. Now I got something in my eyes. Thanks R/C.
I'd guess that now, after his passing, a lot of players will begin incorporating elements of Beck's style of playing (especially his uniquely melodic use of the whammy bar). That's what happened, i.e., the copying, after Hendrix, and then, Eddie. In 20 or 30 years, it will likely become another somewhat routine aspect of guitar playing - like Eddie's tapping - and the impact of Beck, himself, will be lessened, to be fully appreciated only by old-timers remembering when he was in a Class of 1 (like me remembering the first time I heard, in jaw-dropping amazement, "Purple Haze" on the radio in 1967).
The yardbirds were a favorite of mine way back & Jeff was in the middle of the best they did. From there on he became my favorite player. Always on the edge of what could be done w/guitar & he always had superior sidemen/women. On top of all that, ask anyone who knew him, the nicest chap ever. The GOAT will always be in my heart & his legacy will live beyond many of his peers. RIP
I've always preferred the fresh, fizzy, lemon sorbet vibe of the Wired album which came directly after Blow by Blow. George Martin had slightly less guidance on Wired. But your explanation of how Jeff approached George Martin really makes me realise just how important that album and the Martin collaboration was. So, he suffered two skull fractures and the crash which cut his nose??
Well from what I could find the first skull fracture he never elaborated on exactly how that happened. He was only 10 at the time. But the second one he said was in a car accident and the other one that cut his nose happened a few years after that. I believe that happened after Eric Clapton's 40th birthday party. Thanks for watching!
I loved your resume on Jeff Beck. Every tribute adds something extra to my growing knowledge of Beck. My first album was also Blow by Blow ❤ RIP Jeff Beck… what a man 🙏🙏🎶
Homeboy!: You forgot to mention the two killer R&B Jazz-fusion albums that Jeff made with late killer-rock-drummer : Cozy Powell ,keyboardist : Max Middleton, Bassist 'Clive Chaman Vocalist :Bob Tench later of Hummingbird and Streetwalkers. Both "Rough & Ready" and the Orange Album 'Jeff Beck Group are both classics Holmes! He he he !
I saw jeff beck 1980, tried in 84 , 89 , 99 , 2003,2006 ,2009 ,2011 ,2015,2017 ! Also sent my family to his boston show 2015! I got close enough to scream Thank you ! He responded with Thank you for my career ! Just a amazing person 😁
Blow by Blow is my favorite Jeff Beck album. I was 15 when it came out. I was fortunate enough to see Jeff Beck on his Blow by Blow tour. RIP Jeff Beck🎸🎸
Doc u felt out the second Jeff Beck group which produced, rough & ready & Jeff Beck group. R&R in 71 & group in 72. BBA came in 73. No problem, we all love him.
Thanks so very much for this, what an interesting portrayal of an amazing artist and all around cool cat! Blow by Blow- I found the LP at a garage sale for 25c! Changed my life… ❤

Didn't either, coupled with car wreck years later. Definitely shaped his life and how he plays.

R.I.P. to Mr. Jeff Beck. The best guitarist, musician that ever lived. The master will be sadly missed forever in my world .This is the best dock I have seen on my guitar hero. Thank you so much for this. I love the Frank Zappa part. He is my next favorite guitarist ever.
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching and I hope you subscribe to the channel!
The world doesn't make amazing guitarists like Jeff Beck anymore...I'll never...ever forget him...ever..😎👍🎸
This was an excellent honest down to earth presentation about Jeff Beck. Thank you for making it.
Appreciate the compliment. Thank you for that and for watching the video. Hope you subscribe to my channel!!
Done, Sir!
I feel your pain
For, rough and ready, as well as Jeff Beck group with Bob Tench on vocals....Beck, Bogart and Appice also....RIP sir and thanku so much for the music that will live on forever.
Emotion Commotion......absolutely phenomenal. Love that man's music. So sorry he is gone!!!!
Jeff Beck's playing on Roger Water's much underappreciated Amused to Death album is masterful. Buy it now! Jeff liked to exercise his right to bare arms. I respect that.
It was hilarious what he wore to his HOF induction...a white sleeveless tux. The version "Immigrant Song" with Page was intense.
@@poliziagrammaticale9430 Can you say, "Pun"?
JB had guns? YEAH!
I think he means bare, always wearing sleevless t-shirts. Besides, he was British therefore no right to Bear arms... Thank god!
Thanks for the info of Jeff beck’s life , he was a real blessing from god!
Thanks for this! RIP Jeff! In the dictionary under legend there is a picture of Jeff. My fave is Wired, but love everything he contributed and contributed to. He just kept getting better and pushing the boundaries of guitar technique. 🎸🌟
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
I heard "Heart Full of Soul" when I was 15 and ran out to buy "Having a Rave Up with the Yardbirds". Twenty CDs later... !
This is Great ive known Eric Johnson since 1978 btw he was the only one who could play Jeff Beck right after those records came out... wonderful pictures and stories thank you...
Yeah Eric is great!! You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the deep dive!! RIP Jeff Beck..
Truth had the most incredible guitar tones since Are You Experienced?. The opening track, Shapes, was a complete reinvention that let the world know something different was happening. It really gave Electric Ladyland a run for its money.
I remember listening to "Truth" on 8-track and wondering why this guy sounded so different.
I agree about Jeff and Jimmy Hendrix. Jeff Beck is a genius. ! Love Jeff's story
Great short documentary on one the great musicians we have seen pop up (in any era)
Who's John May?
RIP Jeff. The greatest guitar player
every critic ever mentions the second JBG. And that' a shame, that was my favorite version of any of his bands.
Rough & Ready is my favorite LP from Jeff. Also a huge fan of his work with the Yardbirds.
Rough and ready and the “Orange” JBG album are my two favorites which don’t get mentioned enough…
Rough and Ready is my #1 favorite
Another great vid on another great artist. Saw him once with Bogert and Appice in 73 in Providence. Opening acts were Wet Willie and Paul Butterfield. Gone but never to be forgotten, RIP JB!!!!!
Great video. Thanks for putting that together. RIP JB
You're welcome...thank you for watching. Appreciate the support.
The more you learn about Beck the more you admire him. Had a incredible run, hope to see him someday...cheers
Your channel is AWESOME.. it’s great for the “ older “ generation. We still love the music & want to know about our artists, we loved in our youth.. and still love
Thanks so much! I just do the players I grew up with...as I'm just an older generation myself.
Oh Man! I’m almost 65 and having a tuff time seeing all these living legends leave us. However, I’m very thankful that I was able live through the renaissance of Rock & Roll. RIP Mr. Beck
Wonderful doc on Jeff Beck, really covered his career well!
He kept pushing himself and the guitar to new and wondrous sounds of magic
although to be fair...there were plenty you never heard about that were also very good..and didn't live as long
Most definitely Vincent L.
@@sebatianalvarado7171 Danny Gatton is another one...could play most styles
@@vincentl.9469 from same city roy was and basically a lesser known equal to roy at around same time.. another suicide victem .. so sad .. was going to mention him but roy by far was more of an influence on jeff .. lonnie mack got some his licks from roy too ... good concert of roy , lonnie and abert king think it is ...some where here on YT ..
Thank so much for these insights of JB. Loved to hear those stories . I agree that Blow by Blow is the his best album, and a truly game changer in the music industrie.
You're welcome. Thanks for watching.
one of or probably the very best......RIP my hero....i hope to see you and many others on the other side.....
RIP Jeff Beck. My favourite guitar player, ever. He will be missed forever. Blow by blow is also my favourite album.
Dude, just discovered your channel and you do a GREAT job at nailing these player’s history and what not. Thank you!
You're welcome. Appreciate the kind words. Glad you enjoy it. Hope you subscribe and watch more!!
@@RiverDocs SUBSCRIBED.
Blow By Blow....There And Back and Wired are my 3 favorite albums by Jeff ....Goodbye Porkpie Hat...still blows me away...I have it and the Mingus original saved one after the other on my go to list. RIP Jeff Beck
Great video my friend!! My fav Beck stuff is his first two solo albums with Ronnie Wood.
Thanks Ben. I missed your live chat last night as I was busy working on videos. But I'll be there tonight! Thanks for watching!
This was just good - I have no words. Thanks you for putting this on RUclips. RIP Jeff.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! Hope you subscribe to the channel.
Jeff Beck. Just beautiful . I surely miss that amazing gutar playing. ROCKING TO THE END . BEAUTIFUL SOLE RIP.
Another good doc bro! Blow by Blow is my favorite as well, follewed closely by Wired. RIP JB.
Thanks Ferd. Appreciate it!!
Another person who was very important to Jeff was John McLaughlin. He encouraged Jeff to go it alone at a time when he was unsure about making his next move. Jeff rated John very highly as a guitarist, composer and mentor.
Yes he did!! Thanks for watching!
Every live concert I went to Jeff played “You Know You Know”.
jeff beck---what a talent, what technique,....after his passing i went back and re-listened to some of those early albums,.i must say i recognize the talent there, but-to me, beck really reached his zenith when he began more of the jazz-fusion stylings of blow by blow and wired,...thanks to tommy bolin for his influence in becks exploration into that style. bolin and beck were on tour when bolin unfortunately overdosed,....beck promptly hired bolin's band and finished the tour. rip jeff and tommy.......if there is a rock-n-roll band in heaven , the guitar section is covered well......
@RiverDocs Love your delivery! Searching for sounds is why Jeff respected Link Wray 😎🎸
Thanks. Appreciate it.
Thank you for this wonderful story about Jeff Beck!
Truth is how he started to expand his career, King of the Strat! 🎸🎼🇨🇦
huh?
Very well done, enjoyed it a lot, thank you!!
Thank you too!
Cheers!
No mention of Richard Bailey on drums for Blow by Blow? What Bailey did on those drums was mind blowing!
My all-time favourite Jeff Beck album is There And Back...always has been...
I was given a copy of There And Back when it came out...played along with it for days till I knew every note. I still quote bits from it to this day...😎🎸👍
Great video on JB. Much appreciated. 👍
Thanks for watching! Appreciate it.
Thanks 🙏👍 you're 💯% correct about Jeff Beck in so many ways, Best ever.
Thanks for sharing. I have not listened to every Jeff beck album in a row. I will get back to you on which ones my favorite.
Great piece well done.Wery enjoyable.Cant Believe he is gone and gone too soon. Will be very missed.Cheers.
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video and info!. It makes sense that George Martin would be that guy. Blow by Blow was a masterpiece. My favorite too. Love the stuff about Mick too. lol.
Thanks man...glad you enjoyed it. Jeff was quite a character. Appreciate you watching!
Thanks R/C.
You're very welcome. Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks mate. What a great doco. Keep up the good work.ta
You're welcome buddy. Thank you for watching! Hope you subscribe to the channel. More videos coming soon!
Thanks. Jeff Beck top of the crop.
He he he !
Thank you what a great documentary on a much loved artist
You're welcome. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!

Big fan of Jeff since the 70s. Loved his Wired album the most, when he teamed up with Jan Hammer for it in 76.
Great doco, a few things I never knew, very well done, thanks!
I loved listening to this and the pictures. Thanks 🙏
