    What a great analysis on Arnold’s character.. or much rather, his actual personality in and out of Pumping Iron!
    Arnold seems to be more motivated intrinsically than the others, and it shows in his aura and the way he carries himself - brilliant video compilation, love the outtakes!

    Once again, a very insightful and intriguing look at Masculinity via Arnold in the iconic “Pumping Iron”!
    I would agree that Arnold has carried this Alpha persona with him for many years since gracing the bodybuilding stage.
    His alluring, charismatic and machismo personality in some ways were rivalled by the late Rich Piana, in a very exaggerated manner.
    Unfortunately, for me, the Terminator’s 180 degree shift to left-wing WOKE-ism , ‘screw your freedoms’, vegan, anti-meat, blah blah blah has put some noses out of joint…including yours truly! 😬
    Now looking forward to Part 3 of this series. Well done so far!!!👏👏
    👍👌💪👊🤩

      @carvedouttastone  Год назад +9

      I agree with your comment in more ways than one.
      Piana was indeed an iconic character that for a while there, was larger than the sport itself proving you didn't need to be a successful competitor to be a "star" in the new social media driven landscape.
      He embodied many of the same qualities as Arnold did with his charisma and masculine energy.
      And yes, Arnold has taken a weird turn for the worse over the last decade. He's so desperate to stay relevant that he attaches himself to any trending issue in a way that's totally at odds with the much more raw and authentic persona he used to project from the 70-s to early 90s.
      Rejecting his "bodybuilding base" during the time he was governor ( removing his pics from Gold's etc) marked the start of his decline. Now he's just completely tone-deaf on most issues - a shell of his former self.

    Honestly, I think his body looks better with less muscles (like in the Predator movie) instead of the mountain of muscles from his bodybuilding days. But then again I have always thought that the smaller body was more pragmatic and the bulkier body was more peacocking.

      He looked sensational in Predator! I think Arnie got more handsome facially as he aged also. By the time he was in his 40s on Predator, his face had that chiselled look and his body was less extreme but balanced between big and functional. Thanks for your comment egyptwns

      Ummm no. He was running for governor at coincidentally the exact same time that Raw Iron documentary was "contrived", and needed a reason to explain away the "non-politically-correct" behaviors of his bodybuilding days.
      Arnold is first and foremost all about Arnold, and as great as he is, he's a total pathological liar.

    The BB today do not compare to those in the golden era like arnold, franco, zane, and corney etc. These prementioned BB and others from the golden era looked way better than any of todays current pros. There was one exception in my opinion, and that is Jay Cutler, who as well as being huge, actually looked good, with aesthetics for such a big guy, the other big guys of today🤔 ....do not look as good in my opinion. Zane, even being smaller than todays competitor's: had that look, that no one today has managed to emulate.....and that's what this sport is about: how you look. And to be honest the ones today do not look as good, irrespective of how big they are......but that's just an old mans opinion. I remember seeing photo shoots of Zane in MUSCLE BUILDER AND POWER in the 70s, and was awe struck by his physique......l have flicked through magazines in shops today, and the photos do not leave me awe struck whatsoever. And very sadly: the young and guilable are virtually killing themselves, trying to emulate todays pros in size, and in the process storing up serious future health problems.......and here l was, thinking that physical culture, was all about health and fitness, what the hell went wrong ?????

    • @carvedouttastone

      I 100 per cent agree poshgentleman - I collect the old magazines still and the photos still blow me away. The new breed - their physiques, their attitudes, their personalities and work ethic....they just don't inspire me. Show me an old pic of Arnold or Zane I've never seen before and I'm transported back 35 years ago as a starstruck teenager falling in love with the sport. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    • @carvedouttastone
      @carvedouttastone  Год назад +16

      The Nazis hijacked Nietzschean philosophy, not the other way around.
      While Nietzsche's philosophy is broad and covers a range of topics, it's not directly related to bodybuilding or strength training. However, his ideas about the importance of self-overcoming, self-creation, and the will to power is intertwined and relevant to the pursuit of physical strength and fitness.
      Nietzsche believed that individuals should strive to overcome their limitations and become the best version of themselves.
      Sounds pretty relevant to me - and had absolutely nothing to do with Nazi 💩 as you put it.
