    Dark masculinity:
    1. Don't be afraid to be the bad guy
    2. Leverage the power of your competence
    3. Be assertive
    4. Be more mysterious
    5. Focus on player one
I think "Be more mysterious" is the key point for anyone who want to achieve it goal.

Frustratingly, my default setting is to be that nice guy who wants to keep the peace, be accommodating and avoid friction. I’ve gotten better about being assertive, but it requires constant, deliberate effort, which is sometimes exhausting. It also feels like quite a rub when I have to be more intense or aggressive, so this is just an area of my gentlemanly repertoire that needs continued work. Thank you for the video! Serves as a great reminder

Honestly man, I struggle with this too. I wish I can give wise words of advice, but all I can say is I understand. I noticed how this society has really repressed any form of aggression. It's really common to see these type of "nice guys" because it's how we were raised, but the fact you understand that something's up, I hope, will lead the both of us to a greater version of ourselves. Good luck on your journey!

Old gent here (60 years ). It took me far too long to learn this, but one of the challenges for nice guys seems to be that we
Confuse assertiveness with behaving like a jerk.
What worked for me was understanding my role as a protector of my family.
Some role models, such as characters played by Cary Grant, or Viggo Mortensen, use this the defend himself and others, and only uses it when pushed.
Not a wolf, but a sheepdog. I won’t “attack” others, but I will defend myself.

That's really interesting, and honestly I admire you and am glad that such natural goodness exists in the world. I recognize that I have manipulative and coercive traits, and I have spent my adult life working to ensure that I give others fair choice and freedom around me. I am really heartened to know that the person I aspire to be is a person that is real.

    • @Olyfrun
      @Olyfrun 25 дней назад +2

That said, I do think this gives me the opportunity to advise on issues such as confidence. One thing I would tell you is that in life most people enjoy the distraction of novelty, your arrival and presence is a welcome experience for others.
Edit: and also, that people tend to accept people as they are. If you turn up and state your preference, people will just accept that you're a person who does that. Simply by doing it, you have become it.

    • @souldepletion13
      @souldepletion13 25 дней назад +2

@@Olyfrun That actually is quite a fascinating point. Ig the hardest dichotomy in life is the vision you want for yourself and the internal restrictions you put on it. Youre right, honestly, on how its not really society holding you back (tho truth be told, if i go wild with my dark side, theres a high chance it wont end well for me lmfaoo). Yeah there may be a little disapproval here and there (i could be really arrogant sometimes), but in the end they just learn to accept it. Its only on you if you want to accept it for yoruself

I remember when I was a teen and a small group near us of older lads were being very anti social, shouting, abusing people as they walked by, throwing stuff at some people, our little group edged away from them inch by inch from them as we didn't want to be associated with them, but none of us had the bottle to confront them. This man walked up out of nowhere, calmly told them to pack it in and another minute or so telling them the error of their ways in a calm but stern flow, much like a officer in the military. The guy was 50+, not very tall or built but he simply didn't look like a man to be messed with, he finished, looked them all in the eye one by one, said "You understand, Yes? Good" turned and walked away. It worked, I hardly heard a peep from that group for the duration my group was there. I couldn't help think how nicer society would be if some groups were confronted early on, nib the problem in the bud rather than allowing them to get away with it for so long that they really do become a problem in society. That Man was the topic of discussion for most of that day on his courage and quite frankly the balls to confront them.

I once encountered a man that matches your description. This one was in the military. Probably 35. Shorter like me. (I’m 5’6) but he confronted someone I knew and spoke calmly but sternly. Never raised his voice… but he ended up solving the issue he saw.
I still think of him now and then.

I’m fortunate that I have a mixture of both. People know me to be kind and friendly and someone that gets along with everyone and is always happy.
But like you mentioned, I could just raise a brow or make a stern look and people tend to know not to push me. I can certainly be angry and confront. But I hardly ever need to.
Another person I work with is very similar. We don’t need to raise our voices to command respect.

It has been interesting discovering your series of tips and traits.
I realise that I had all of these styles throughout my earlier years, and generally won through.
Unfortunately as I hit through the events of a radical prostatectomy, at the young age of 50, it played quiet havoc with my hormones generally.
Men have no idea they have hormones until they have their prostate removed.
Now at 70, I have been alone for 10 years, and although a lot of that is convenient, I recognise that I would appreciate the company of the right sort of woman in my life once more.
‘The right sort,’ being the catch phrase.
I can see as to how I need to reapply myself to how I used to be, and although it used to come naturally, I can recognise the additional effort that will need to be applied to reestablish myself into that role once more.
Perhaps there is a scaled down age related version of the type of matured version of being a gentleman?
I don’t expect you to know that as yet, but I will be pleased to listen in to your advice, and consider as to how I might be able to apply it from my age perspective.
    Thank you for reawakening me.

If you can not afford your own place (more common these days) then it is best to be the first renter, and not the second roomate. Yes, everyone may be paying equal amounts on the rent, but get to know the landlord and set yourself up as the contact. Be polite but firm, set the rules down...something that is hard if you are coming into a place with other renters already there. Also know well those people you are going to live with, make sure their cleaning habits equal yours but also notice if they are more submissive than you, it will help set yourself up as the Alpha in a non A-hole way.

@@CanadaFree-ce9jn Thank you for the feedback. I’m actually the leader and the one who's been at my current place the longest. The others are 21 (a student), 23 (a student), and 27 (immature, smokes a lot, no ambition), while I’m the 30-year-old who’s working the hardest, making the most money, cleaning the most, and paying all the bills. I could probably overlook our age and life gap (since I only graduated in 2022) if it weren’t for how dirty things get, but it’s really starting to drive me crazy. I’m unhappy and end up eating out all the time because I just can't bring myself to cook in our messy, outdated kitchen. I’ve voiced my concerns multiple times, but nothing changes-they just won't step up. I really hate the idea of paying an extra $800 a month, but with my side hustle, I think I could swing it if I tutor and raise my rates a bit. This would put me at making 3x my rent in a studio. And it would probably equal out anyway if I just cook all the time to save more money. I guess those are the trade-offs for my own space and sanity. Otherwise, I will feel constantly annoyed, held back, and unable to reach my potential. Can't have that as a true fan of Gent Z.

Sadly, the woman wasn't being non-assertive, she was being a complete coward. It is one thing to not ask for a date for fear of rejection, but when it comes to basic needs like a bathroom, you would have to be a coward not to ask. "Where is your bathroom?" takes no assertion at all. It is on par with, "Do you have coffee lids? The holder is empty". What else are you going to do? Pee your pants? Spill hot coffee on yourself?
And always, always check for toilet paper before you sit down.
As a gentleman, I will gaze around for the bathroom sign as I sit, then when I locate it I'll let my spouse know so she doesn't have to search for it when she needs it. Of course if I don't see a sign, I'll still find the bathroom to wash my hands after we get a table.

If someone would ask me that and Id be doing not good, I would respond somthing like “its been rough days as of late, but better days will come”. The thing is, the attitude of wanting things to be better must come from within you, and it starts not with motivation, nor inspiration, but with you actually saying that things are going to be better. My perception is dark masculinity is quite different. The closest thing to a dark Madeline male would be something like Michael Keaton’s version of Bruce Wayne. You try to be social on the occasion on the surface at times. However, within your ideologies and ambitions, you are a loner. A very few may see beyond the outer layer and they see there is something deeper which you are preserving from others. People see you as you are yet they cannot connect the dots with who you are. Perhaps you want to have a public image side of yourself which is gentleman-like, however there is another side of your self which isn’t quite devious however you’d rather prefer for people to not get into your business, for one reason or another. It is also kind of a mob approach. They want to be seen as classy yet elegant individuals that are seen as philanthropists. However, they are only attempting to hide their true nature of their business. Dark masculinity can be applied to both the good and the bad.
