I got over 305k miles on a Toyota 4Runner that was still running without any issues of excessive oil consumption between changes when I sold it. I used the cheapest full synthetic oil in the store at that time, (which was Quaker State). I have found that regular oil changes and a quality filter to be more important than the brand of oil used, provided the oil meets API specifications and standards. I have nothing against Mobil 1 but, for normal driving I would still use the Super Tech without concern.

I used to use Mobil 1 . Now I switched to Supertech. $10 a 5qt jug Cheaper than Mobil 1. I can’t tell any difference at all. Me approaching retirement I’ll stick with Supertech. Haven’t heard nothing but positive reviews on Supertech motor oil.

Keep in mind that he used the Annual Protection version of Mobil-1 in the above video which is like comparing apples to oranges. The SuperTech Full Synthetic is not an extended interval formula (like the Annual Protection Mobil-1 is) it's a basic full synthetic oil which if he had wanted to do a fair and valid comparison he should have tested it against the REGULAR Mobil-1 synthetic, very poor comparison, can't take any of his testing seriously. lf you used to use the regular Mobil-1 then you are doing just fine switching to SuperTech Full Synthetic, there is virtually no difference between the two other than price. They have been tested against each other many times but more professionally conducted comparisons that what this clown did and the SuperTech always does well.

I work for a custom oil blender. People overthink this way too much. One full syn may out perform another marginally due to the additives used but it’s all essentially the same thing and more than adequate. Base oils are refined to a certain spec and traded between all of the companies every day. It doesn’t matter what bottle you buy I can guarantee it has the cheapest batch of base oils in it that the blender could buy on the day it was packaged. Don’t get hung up on brands the only real control you have is buying a product with the best ratio of group III, IV, or V base oils

@@hulong0205 Used oil analysis are one of the coolest tools we use in the lube business. Industrial customers love it… They could have a 2000gal hydraulic system that the builder wants them to change the fluid on every 5k hours- but if we can go in and prove their oil is good for 15-20k hours that’s money in the bank for them..

@@hulong0205 Stick to PAO oils. Dont go for GTL based oil like Pennzoil Plat or Ultra Plat unless you get it for super cheap and you can change your oil quite frequently. Pennz's Pure Plus gas-to-liquid technology is their marketing trick they they try to befool people with by selling them basically Group III+ oils at the cost of PAO + Ester oils. Though GTL oils approach to some parameters and coefficients like PAO oil in some test, their formulation is not that robust and wear off way faster. GTL is a cheap technology and the downside of it is to make their oils more viscous and stable they add lots of polymer thickener almost up to 30% whereas your engine does not need that thickener because as it wears off it creates varnish and lacquer residue that eventually worsen the heat transfer and exchange between engine components. Your engine need good base oil + solid additive package which protects this oil from contamination and wear and low and hight temp effect on it. I have seen the consequences of the GTL based oil usage and was quite unhappy with how they perform. THe GTL based oil at some point simply starts to burn being incapable of with withstanding the high temperature. I was so much disappointed. So, please buy rather PAO based oils like Mobil1 or Valvoline or else that is not GTL. The only scenario where I see people buy GTL oils is when it is way cheaper, oil change intervals are 3K miles MAX and it is a very calm ride with no high revs. But when I see Pennzoil Ult Plat for $33 per jug, OMG, please stop befooling people, your oil and the technology you use is not that good. I would buy GTL based products only in case if I cannot buy Group IV PAO+ Ester oils and I don't want to buy some house brand oil that is basically mineral oil with additives that they fancy call it semi-synthetic. By the way regular crude oil based motor oil by Pennzoil oil - not the GTL based - is quite good and can be recommended.

if you have a regular daily driver vehicle, it doesn't matter which oil brand you use as long as it's the recommend oil type for the vehicle. All oils are required to be API certified so just follow the recommended oil change in your owner's manual - for me i used the cheapest conventional super tech oil for my toyota corolla which only costs $13 at walmart and have used it for 235k miles with no issues - can save a good chunk of money over time instead of buying the most expensive oil

I also use mobile one synthetic blend extended performance oil filter, rated at 20,000 miles. It takes a full year when I set my internal engine computer to 100% goes down to 15% in 10 months. I drive only in city, stop and go, car killer. I also live in South Tx.with the highest temperatures reaching 110, 113 degrees at times. For a few extra bucks you get superior engine protection all year long. It pays for itself. I go by my car computer, which is accurate.I forgot to mention the price. At wal-Mart came out to $32 something tax included for oil and filter.

A good combo is SuperTech Full Synthetic with LubeGard Bio/Tech Engine Protectant. LubeGard uses a Group-5 base ester which is what you get with the top of the line synthetic oils that cost 4 times as much as the SuperTech but you can get it affordably with the LubeGard Bio/Tech and even when you add the price of both products together (SuperTech syn + LubeGard Bio/Tech) you still come out cheaper than for example the Mobil-1 Annual Protection formula that he used in the above test and the SuperTech syn + Bio/Tech will still outperform the Mobile-1 AP. LubeGard Bio/Tech is also much better technology than Lucas. LubeGard LXE technology is the creation of the former head of the Mobil-1 development team.

That was a very good idea, doing both cold and hot pour tests. It tells us something very important about how quickly the oil gets pumped up from the crankcase to the valve train area during a cold start, when most engine wear occurs.

Since with modern technology now the tollerance in the new engine between the parts are very low reguard old engine where u need more viscous oil to fill the gap between parts. Plus 0w20 cost more respect 5w30,5w40 ecc since it contain more additives.

TheNortheastAl I can, it’s “Walmart brand”. Though it’s actually made by warren and distributed as walmart’s supertech, Amazon basics, as well as autozone’s brand and advance auto parts’ brand. Never buy a store brand oil rather than a known good oil brand unless you really wanna be that cheap, in which case, supertech and amazon are the cheapest of the group even though they’re all the same oil
