My bru, thank you for talking longboards. As an aeroplane wing rider myself I appreciated the time you took to do this. Having ridden logs a long time I *personally* think the turtle roll is dangerous and should be avoided. St Mikes, KZN, South Africa at 4-6’ is where turtle rolls don’t work. Before the turtle has even rolled that 9’0” will be stripped from your hands and boosted right up your chocolate wizz way. Anyway, high 5 for talking longboards.
For sure I reckon turtle rolls won’t work in big surf like that 😂 but for those intermediate surfers riding smaller waves it’s a must. But what would you do when you approach a big wave with a big board and you have people behind and around you?
What do I do? I paddle hard toward the broken part of the wave, the foamie that is; then and tilt my stick at roughly 45° and ram the foamie. You obviously get pushed back for sure but you still in control of your board. Repeat. Tried and tested from *big* St Michaels to the North Shore of Oahu.

@@karlrcoates good to know and thanks for sharing.
solid advice. Applying it in my longboard sessions
Thanks for the feedback. Good luck 🙌
Good safety tips. Hopefully prevent a few concussions
Yes for sure, I hope it helps! 😊
Not a fan of the turtleroll. But I'm as slow as such a mf. So will do apply, coach! 🎉
Haha good to know. It’s not my favorite either, but is a safer way to control the board when people are around 😊
@@shannonainsliesurf Yessah, might even be a lot quicker than ditching and getting back up. 😅
@@buxtra 🙌🙌
@@shannonainsliesurf Coach A, it worked, I practiced what you preached. Line up benefitted couple of times, but not financially though. 😆
@@buxtra glad it worked 🙌
