    These chargers were 5.4 - 5.6 second 0-60's but they didn't hook up as per this one left rubber..thus slowed the car down..The new 8 speed are 4.8- 5.2 seconds again better transmission gearing but more off the line power due to lower transmission gearing,leaves more rubber thus slows it down...Subaru is lighter and has low gearing..Low gearing helps with performance....People don't understand about cars,two different types of cars..but the Charger is very,very quick ,powerful for being a huge car....Subaru is for people 5'5 and under and 130 pounds..I am 6'3 and have aproblem fitting in these and I am not fat or obese..

      They are not comparing the two it was just a simple race. They are simply having fun on a backroad. Also Dodge even the newest Charger/Challenger R/T’s are pretty slow overall. I own a Q50 with a twin turbo V6 (not the red sport 400) and can easily gap a R/T from a dig. It’s just the reality that R/T’s are slow, and STI’s are light AWD and have plenty of hp’s.

    • @bigyoshi5716
      @bigyoshi5716 3 года назад

      Yeah, with an engine that has basically been around since the late 90s... Subaru has been reusing that same boxer motor for years, just with minor tweaks here and there that have not significantly affected power output. Dodge should be ashamed that they ever made a vehicle in the mid 2000s with a 5.7l v8 that makes less than 350whp.

    • @bigyoshi5716
      @bigyoshi5716 3 года назад

      @@longdrag5397 Everyone's definition of performance is different, I guess. Acceleration is great, but handling dynamics are something that pretty much all dodge vehicles sorely lose at. If you want straight line performance, you don't even need to buy a Charger or Challenger. They are so heavy that plenty of vehicles outperform them with way less hp. Any new Coyote Mustang will break into the 11 second range with just a tire charge. At the end of the day, it's just silly that Dodge makes a 5.7 liter v8 that doesn't even pump out 400hp. An 06-10 Charger RT with the road and track package provides .87g avg lateral- not exactly a slouch by today's standards- exceptional for a two-ton anything.. That number simply layes waste to old muscle cars. The stability control that cannot be turned off completely is the only thing holding the car back from returning a higher figure. It's true the STI avg is .93g- higher than the Charger, but you would certainly expect that from an AWD performance car weighing significantly less. The mission of these two cars couldn't be more different; The RT has a 120" wheelbase, which is where that car gets it's amazingly comfortable ride- even when equipped with stiff springs and the like. It's still cool to watch such different cars go head to head- they're so different in how they go about generating their performance. There's nothing wrong with either method, they're both fast cars- the consumer wins when automakers crank out such wildly different machines.
