  • Yes, probably one of the most common issues nowadays alongside lower back pain. Intros video, I wanted to discuss the different reasons for feeling pain in those areas and why they happen.
    The video is a part of my anatomy shorts lectures in the Bulletproof courses, so if you are a member, you can learn more when you log into the course.
    Hopefully the video is educational and gives you some more insight into these muscles.
    🚨 Disclaimer: You should always consult a medical professional prior to attempting any exercises or techniques showed on this channel.
    🙋🏽‍♂️Like always, you will find a lot more info in my Bulletproof Shoulders & Neck course and if you decided to give these a go, let me know how you get on!

      Not really. Telling you the source of the problem. Plus, I now realize that muscle in the shoulder blades pulls on the ribs/front of the chest, explaining why my chest gets tight and sternum needs to be popped. Basic anatomy course with educational backstory… I’d recommend figuring out how to relax muscles- that’s pretty easy to find-massages, stretches, etc take care of your own anatomy!

      He would have to go to a Physical or Massage Therapist to help determine the why. Maybe even a Chiropractor. There are many reasons why when dealing with how you move and activities you do. If you have the knowledge of working on muscles directly, you’re most likely able to provide relief. Sometimes the why is unique to the person.

    I accidentally ran into this video. Very interesting! Love the anatomy demo...
    Pain at this very location can be localized, referral , reflex...
    First of all I had this pain for ~10 years. From ~20 to 30 years old.
    Yes, 10 years of annoying pain, constant aching, sometimes burning pain, sometimes stabbing pain, sometimes feeling like some things stuck between your shoulder blade. Sometimes I wished I could just reach back there and take that pain out...
    I tried every thing I could think of to get rid of this painful sensation between my shoulder blade for yrs. And of course trouble sleeping at night due to pain. I seek chiropractic care for pain relief, yes!!!, but did not get rid of this pain.
    Matter of fact, one day while working, I has so much pain in between my right shoulder blade, I went to see 3 chiropractors in the same day, still have same pain as I left their office.
    Now, the good new is I got rid of this pain over ~ 25 years ago...
    I saw so many you tube videos that people sharing how to fix this pain, this is the first time I would like to share my thoughts about it.
    Hope, it is not too long!
    1/ We need to IDENTIFY what caused the pain there. If it is BIOMECHANICS
    2 main reasons - The way we work & the way we sleep (besides, if there was any preexisting condition- injuries).
    Because, once we get rid of this pain, if the problem is due to these issues we need to modify the way we work.
    2/ If it is a localized muscle strain due to just chronic tension built up after couple years sitting in front of computer, foam roller in supine position (3-5 minutes per day). Should feel better in 2 weeks, then use shoulder theraband to strengthen the shoulder blade. If someone job is staring at computer more than 2 hours per day, use foam roller as needed + theraband.
    If pain is from neck down into shoulder blade, try this exercise. In supine position, with your hands interlace behind your head, slowly and slightly SLIDE YOUR HEAD to the right about 10 degrees), and rotate your head towards left, so that your left eye can see the left elbow. Repeat the same exercise on the other side. 3 sets of 10. (The key here is to slide your head to right about 10 degrees first before rotate to left, and to slide your head to the to the left about 10 degrees before rotate your head to the right.
    If this exercises does not work after 2 weeks, consider seeking professional care for 3 - 6 treatments with the following procedures ( combination of “continuous therapeutic ultrasound” followed by active release techniques, then mechanical traction ON THE SAME VISIT).
    3/ Need to take nutrients to REPAIR damaged tissues, joints, ligaments, disc, if you wanted long lasting results ( at least 3 months).
    4/ Need a proper pillow to allow your to be extension so there is minimal to none muscle pulling/tension from your neck.
    --------------------------------------------------
    Lastly, right shoulder blade pain can be an issue from gallbladder refer pain. If it is an issue from gallbladder certain enzymes need to take in order to relief pain at RIGHT LOWER ANGLE of scapula. Or you can trying juicing you favorited green with a green apple and BEETROOT with the “LEAVES”-help thinning your bile.
    Some people may have both biomechanics (muscle/nerve) issue combined with visceral somatic reflex (gallbladder).
    This is what I used to fix my R shoulder pain permanently!!!

    Lie on a tennis ball and shift or rock your upper body back and forth to create a massaging motion over the muscles. If you find a local, specific tender knot or trigger point you can also just keep the ball on that one spot statically for 3-5 minutes to help release it. Follow that up with 20-30 minute hot pack to the area. And then follow up with a stretch. Another problem in the area could be a misaligned vertebrae and those will need adjusting back into place.

    • @bradgeorgiev

      One thing to add in terms of posture is that spinal extension helps position the rib cage in a better alignment with the pelvis which automatically re-positions the shoulders. If one only rolls shoulders back, without rib cage extension, that would be counter-productive.

    This year’s summer, I sprained my serratus posterior superior and could barely breathe when at rest or laying down. Funny thing is I could do it perfectly if I was doing extremely intense cardiovascular exercise such as when sprinting on my road bike while cycling. I could also lift extremely heavy weights on the squats and shoulder presses which recruit the muscle intensively. But once I’d cool down, the pain was unbearable.

    I think i finally figured out what this is. The underneath muscle connects to the ribs basically. For me, the pain is on my right side. On the right side, Its more loose on my front and tight on the back. On the left side, its tight on thr front and loose on the back. My left side on the front, the ribs stick out and are higher than the right side. My right shoulder is also higher than my left shoulder.
    So i believe the source of the pain is the ribs not being in proper alignment. The rib flare on the left needs to be addressed. Havr to relearn how to breathe through your core to wake up that left side to reduce rib flare. Then once the rib flare is gone, the ribs will be in proper alignment and the tightness will be gone.

    • @bradgeorgiev
      @bradgeorgiev  3 дня назад +1

      A rib cage imbalance can be caused by the scalene muscles, which attach onto the first and second ribs, in most cases causing them to elevate if the muscles is tight, and if it is not able to have an optimal role in rib cage elevation during breathing

    • @johnhodgeman3980
      @johnhodgeman3980 3 дня назад

      @@bradgeorgiev thank you for your feedback!
      How would I address the scalene muscle dysfunction?
      Is working on proper deep breathing with my core, in my left side, enough to restore muscle imbalance to fix the ribcage imbalance and rib flare? Or is it a lot more to do it than that?
      I just had an exam with my ortho and he said my spine doesnt look bad at all. I have a slight levoscoliosis at L3 but he thinks it's stretching it to call it mild. I have a minimal bulge at L4-L5. He thinks my rib pain could be referred in my thoracic spine (which is typically not very mobile) from my neck and I'll need an MRI on my neck. In the past, I had a C5-C6 bulge. I would classify myself as hypermobile. He also said my right hip is a little higher than my left but we're talking millimeters. He thinks I could have legitimately discrepancy and that's not the first time someone brought it up to me but hed need to test me for it and measure.
      What I got out of this last exam is my spine in my lumbar region is real close to straight, there is some wear and tear on L4-L5, and the lateral pelvic tilt is noted but it's not significant and the right side is only a touch higher and that might be related to a legitimate leg length discrepancy, where my right leg is a little longer than my left.

      Mainly cause of hemoroids are consitipations, you should increase blood flow - suplements, cardio, regular some forms of move intraday, in training (till You don't cure this) - use low weight - but chose isolated excercoses (flys for eg.), more important - very low tempo off eccentric phase, make short isometric phase and don't cheat at all in concentric phase - low weight - better training, You can increase numer of repetitions, to addidrionaly lowering the weight 🙂

    Can this be the cause of a pinched nerve in that area?
    I had a pinch nerve between the spine and scapula a couple years ago. None of the doctors could figure it out. They said it’s often caused by a compression in the spine and it radiates to that spot. However, they could never find a trigger point in my spine. They also never did any imaging to see if there were any tears in the soft tissue. No one could find the spot when palpating the skin either, which tells me it was much deeper tissue that was inflamed and causing the issue.
    The nerve spasm pain would go from the spot on the upper back through to the chest, and to the upper shoulder and up the neck, and send a slight ache down my arm to my elbow.
    Could it have been this muscle, the serratus posterior superior, that could have been the cause?

    • @bradgeorgiev
      @bradgeorgiev  Год назад

      Yes, and the serratus posterior is not the only muscle in that specific area of the body. You can some of the upper erector spinae going through there, as well as the muscles in between the ribs - the intercostals. Check this out for more info - www.omnibodyhealthcare.com/bulletproof-sgn

      @@bradgeorgiev why does every doctor, PT, Chiropractor I see, always just stick to it being an issue with the spine? That it’s a compression in the vertebrae. That it’s all just linked to poor western culture posture. No one is willing to look at an injury as an injury. They all just want to say that having better posture will solve it. Even when I’ve literally slipped down the stairs and injured something, I get told it’s all down to posture. No one tries to uncover the actual injury and give me the tools I need to target that specific place to help heal it.

    Trying to tell my doc something is seriously wrong with my scapula...ribs etc. Ever since a weight lifting injury.
    I seriously suspect a severe tear or detatched muscle but public orthos dont care.
    Take care of your scapulas people because orthos dont take severe muscle injuries here seriously. Its not routine for them $$$$

      Brother you couldent get surgery even if you wanted to. Theres only a handful of surgeons in the u.s that operate on scapula muscle detatchment, the rest turn a blind eye.

      @@Brizzo200 Shit brother, dont tell me that. I get it though, I went to a dark place for a while because of this (been dealing with it for like 1.5-2 years). The compensation by other muscles has led to twitiching througout my body, migraines, palpitations, and visual issues. I went to a neurologist, had an MRI of my spine and brain, wore a heart monitor, and it all came back clean. Ive had multiple X-rays, and no fractures, thats why i think it is a tear. Also, I kept very active for a while, dont make that mistake like it did, rest for a while and then just keep to walking and gentle movements. Psilocybin helped shift my perspective, and also feel the connectedness of the pain to other regions to help conceptualize the whole situation better. I really think it can be healed overtime, just take a lot of time off from any heavy activity, eat good, and sleep well. Really consider checking out that channel I mentioned, a lot of good gentle movements on there once your back is up to it. I've made tremendous progress in three weeks using those movements pair with proper rest. Also, dont shy away from NSAIDs as needed, but certainly only cylce on them for a few weeks at a time. My doc said up to 2400mg a day for like two weeks and then stopping as needed should be safe. It sounds like it is fresh for you so its at its worse -- just push through and be allow yourself to be humbled by your situation. You can get through this
