- First of all, if you've got to this stage of your USCIS application, COngratulations! Getting to the biometrics appointment is an important stage in your immigration journey.
When you apply for a benefit from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) - such as a work permit, citizenship, green card, or even a green card renewal - a standard part of the process is a biometrics appointment (also known as a biometrics screening).
If you are expecting a USCIS biometrics appointment based on your USCIS application, this video will calm down any worries you might have about this stage of your application.
During your appointment, you will be asked to provide information that will be used to verify your identity. This identifiable information to be collected during your appointment will be your fingerprints and your photograph. A biometrics screening is not an interview. Therefore, you can expect this process to be quick.
By submitting your biometric information, you will be giving USCIS permission to perform a criminal background search on you. and the outcome of this background search will be used to either approve or deny your application.
On the day of your appointment, you will bring the following:
1. Original Biometrics Appointment NOtice USCIS sent to you - Form I-797C, a notice of action for case type: I485 AOS application and I765 for EAD application. It will include information about the date, time, and location of your ASC appointment.
2. Valid Passport
You may notice that your ASC Biometrics Appointment Notice includes a code in the top right part of the letter. The code is intended to indicate the type of biometrics processing to be performed. The possible values are:
Code 1 - The appointment is limited to collecting fingerprints for all 10 digits. USCIS forwards the fingerprints to the FBI for a background check.
Code 2 - Personnel will collect a photo, signature, and index finger press print. This type of processing is typical for beneficiaries who receive a card like a permanent resident card or employment authorization document (EAD).
Code 3 - Personnel will collect a photo, signature, index finger press print, as well as fingerprints for all 10 digits. Code 3 is a combination of Codes 1 and 2.
Once the biometrics screening is done, the biometrics officer will stamp your appointment notice, marking the end of the biometrics appointment.
The biometrics officer will then return your Valid ID and your stamped appointment notice form I797C and you may leave the Application Support center. The appointment itself takes most people 15 to 30 minutes.

What is code 5?
Hello in my appointment notice it was code 3 but the officer there only put his id number on biometrics qa review but didnt put his id number on tenprints qa review but he wrote the date on both of them. Will this be problem thanks
You should be fine otherwise, they will send you another notice to do a redo if there's a problem.

Im not so sure, but I don’t think that would be a problem . You'll just have to set it down while capturing the photo.

Hello po, which state ka ngayon sa US? For me di yan normal na abutin ng 6 months wala pang Biometrics appointment. Kailan ka nag submit ng adjustment of status or application for residency? You should receive the appointment letter for biometric through mail po, then the uscis will give you the link din on how to create your uscis account. I'd suggest you to contact them na Hindi ka naka receive ng biometric appointment notice.

Yes, a passport will do kahit Hindi pa na change yung last name it's still valid, Yun lang hinahanap nila and just bring marriage certificate nalang and other documents just incase they need more.

You don't need to acquire your own FBI records. It is the responsibility of the USCIS to conduct background checks, and the exact process they follow is not disclosed. Simply bring the documents specified on your biometric notice, as provided by the USCIS.

Hello po, Sorry I just noticed your comment. If nasa pinas kapa the form I-797C that your hubby received is a notice that the USCIS received your application or case filed. I am not pretty sure whats in that notice you guys have received, if you are for biometric there should have an address where and when you can have it done there in the Philippines. Hello sis im done with my bio appt. Im currently bothered or paranoid sa bio appt ko. Kasi medyo hirap ung officer na i-scan finger ko. Then nakita ko sa monitor, isang green lang na thumb ko ang color green. The rest fingers ko ng finger scanning sa monitor were red. Does it means reject ung finger scanning ko or uulit ako? Hello sis, I’m not so sure , dapat green lahat. yes possible na they will advise you to redo the bio, I knew somebody na she received notice to Redo ng biometrics kasi faded yung fingers prints nya and not legible. Kaya better to moisturize the hands before the appointment.

Whether or not you can bring someone with you to the ASC for your biometrics appointment depends on the specific ASC you are visiting. In my personal experience, the ASC I went to did not allow companions. Only the person with the appointment was permitted to enter. However, it's always a good idea to bring your original marriage certificate or other valid identification documents, just in case they are required.

You Just have to use the existing account you have although you said you missed your previous appointment, once you’re done with your biometrics the USCIS will just update your online account, mag rereflect dun status ng case mo. For your new biometrics schedule it will appear din online and also they’ll send a notice din through mail. Have you requested for reaechedule naba? Thanks for your advice it's very helpful for people like me No knowledge about this... Hindi pa Po Ako nagpa reaschedule for new biometrics ma'am. Kasi Po March 12 , 2024 10:00 Pm na recieved namin Ang mga mails including my first biometrics schedule. Tapos tapos my biometrics schedule was March 12 3Pm. Hello, walang interview po during the biometric also exempted sa process na ganito pag tourist visa holder. Para lang to sa mga immigrants na mag apply for work permit and residency.
