I had the exact same thought when I first watched this, however you see in the later episodes that she was actually relieved when her boyfriend did not come to the baby shower and during the birth of the baby the boyfriend was not involved, he did not even try to comfort his girlfriend who was in labour. In fact he left the hospital (whilst she was in labour), he slept whilst she was i labour and he was on his phone for a very long time not even bothering to look up and check whether his girlfriend was okay.
The second argument is horrible. He is the father of that child and had every right to be involved. I felt so bad that they used something personal like family to make it alright to be annoyed with him. It makes my heart ache.

The poor dad in the second one… it’s rare for a TEEN boy to want to be so involved in his baby’s life, and they’re making him feel like he didn’t even take part in making the baby. It breaks my heart. He looked so sad.

If that girl didn’t want him there then she needs to tell him; so her mom can continue to be the controlling and conniving person that she is. If a mother tells you a man is no good, it's either because 1) she's jealous of him or 2) because he really isn't any good. Don't automatically cross out number 1. Especially when it comes to a teenage daughter. In that situation, #1 is often the case.
McKayla’s “mom” should never yell at her parents like that, they raised her kid when she was too busy doing other things. McKayla should’ve stood up for them too, her silence is frustrating.
My Dad and My Stepmom used to argue and it would be a similar atmosphere to where my sister and I would be forced to sit there ((or anywhere for that matter cus they were soo loud!))
