When it comes to lyrics and subject matter, Megan absolutely owns the "girls, girls" narrative, but GloRilla came through and put a 360-degree spin on it effortlessly. Her "talking her shit" from multiple angles is seriously impressive. To me, GloRilla is like a female Soulja Boy-she’s the rap girl straight men will claim, not just to downplay other rap women. They'll blast her album with the windows wide open, no doubt. At least five songs on this album are must-adds to your daily playlist. Megan, Latto, and GloRilla are the new supreme trio. Latto’s been in the game longer, but Glo has carved out a signature sound, brand, and movement. Latto is still cosplaying a bit, which makes it hard to fully claim her. Her history has been questionable. But I will say this: if Latto can move beyond the "men ain't shit" narrative, she could position herself as the rap version of Keyshia Cole, because women aren't one-dimensional. This is her chance to be authentic and balance out Meg and Glo. Adding Flo and Monaleo to the mix, the Big 5 female lyricists are officially established.
