  • Let me show you how I fully transformed my bathroom vanity for cheap! In this video, I try some new things like:
    1. Working with contact paper
    2. Spray painting my faucets
    3. Using a cardboard template to install cabinet pulls
    My goal for this project was to bring warmth and simplicity into my bathroom and to help make my bathroom feel like a cohesive part of my home. I wanted to try out new techniques and definitely was looking to save some money.

    really like your bedroom setup - bedframe and the paint 'headboard' and how that color works with the blanket and stuff. it feels very intentional, well put together, and a chill space.

    • @joshmrivera
      @joshmrivera  3 года назад +3

      Mostly there is some discoloration and a few scratch marks. Thankfully the discoloring almost makes it look like brass haha but it definitely could use a touch up. I have found that most people have better success with black spray paint, which shouldn’t really have problems with color changing. Hope that helps !

    I have so many fixtures that are circa 1979...lights too in the house I bought. Outdoor ones as well. 😳 Luckily many will look great oil rubbed bronze or whichever. Yeash...I'm newer to this...have any tips - or what is my chance of success with floor registers, outdoor light fixtures (rough, faded, old) and DOH, lol...my house has an intercom system lol... way cool but $$$ to update. Nutone brown w/cassette and units in most rooms....plastic though..eek

    • @joshmrivera
      @joshmrivera  3 года назад +6

      Thanks so much! So far the paint it holding up pretty well. I can definitely see some discoloration on the handles, which is making it look more like brass and less like gold (which I actually like lol) But I feel like it may need a touch up once in a blue. I’ve seen that most people use matte black for this type of DIY, which seems to be more successful because it shouldn’t discolor like more shiny finishes might. Hope that helps!

    I have the same paint and was going to paint some light pendants! I thought the paint looked a little to champange gold but it looks fantastic o this youtube. I havnt tried it on metal or primed surface but maybe that the difference! The paint has primer in it, so do you think its necessary to prime a light fixture that wont be touched like faucets are. I also bought a rustoleum top coat. Its says it supposed to provide a durable finish. If i Do my faucets and I think I may try I will be sure to follow you method but not sure if its worth all the work since you said yours may need redoing soon!

    • @joshmrivera
      @joshmrivera  2 года назад

      Awesome! Yeah I think for a light fixture you can go ahead and skip the primer. Good luck with your project!

    Just checking in, how did the color hold? Any problems? Anything you would have done different?

    • @joshmrivera
      @joshmrivera  2 года назад

      So everything in the shower is holding up very well. The only thing that isn’t is the faucet handles in the sink. Over many months they originally were changing color and looking a little aged which i was okay with, but down the line paint started scratching off. I think probably b/c the sink faucet is the absolute most highly touched surface out of everything I spray painted.
      This was also the first thing I spray painted. As far as doing things differently I would have given each coat a full day to cure. I was in a pinch and sort of had to rush things along. My shower did have extra time to cure so I wonder if that also contributed to the color holding up. Hope that helps!

  • @gabrielledunkerton3466

    Is it still holding up? Any issues with rust or wear after 6 months of use? I am nervous that it'll wear after a while and the need to have to keep re-doing it

    • @joshmrivera
      @joshmrivera  3 года назад +4

      Great question! I ended up doing this spray paint technique on: the faucet, shower head, bath tap, towel holders, toilet paper holder. They have all held up without signs of wear EXCEPT the sink faucet. The handles have began to discolor and show a few scratches. I’m not sure if it’s because it a more high tough surface or if I made a mistake somewhere in the process since the sink is the first thing I spray painted.
