  • Let me teach you how to paint any tiles in your home! I tackled my bathroom floor tiles in this bathroom makeover. Taking them from black with white grout to a calm green with bold black grout instantly transformed this space!
I also revisit techniques from part 1 of this bathroom makeover to take my bath fixtures from nickel to gold. And I change my first light fixture! My goal for this project was to make my bathroom feel like a cohesive part of my apartment and I think I finally achieved that. So stick around with me for this fun transformation!

Fireplaces!! Material for ya ha ha! I need to paint these 70s tiles lol. I'm not great on the creative/ideas parts but excellent perfectionist or quality..to a fault. Anyhow...the fireplace surround and mantel is just super thin project wood...eh....I can do a lot but...? I picked up a few Clearance cans of glaze for faux finishing techniques!! I know nada yet though ;)

The green looks perfect! One silly question - do you live in a rented apartment? If yes, how much of a hassle will it be to reverse this and remove the paint while moving out?

I own my apartment, I definitely wouldn’t recommend this type for DIY for a rented place. I think in that case the best option would be peel and stick tiles!

can u recommend any paint product for shower area tile floors?

This was my first time painting tiles, so my experience is definitely limited. But check out the white tile paint/primer that I used and linked in the description box. If you want something simple, like just paining tiles white, this would definitely work. But if you want a different color, honestly I would just do a Google search. I’ve heard that patio/outdoor paint has worked for some. But in this case you should still use a tile primer and a clear top coat. Hope that helps!

How does the gold painting working?? Great job!!

It’s actually started to peel. 😓 But I hope to retry this and allow for more adequate dry time between costs

Looks amazing! I'm curious to know how the finish of the fixtures has held up? I tried to DIY gold fixtures years ago and failed. The water created dark stains all over it so I want to avoid having that issue when I try again!

My faucet handles have started peeling and showing the nickel beneath. 😓 But to be honest I didn’t let each coat have a long enough dry time because of my timeline making the video, so I hope to retry this with adequate drying time for eat coat

Is the primer really high in fumes? Do you need all your windows open? Is it highly toxic? I'm asking because I had attempted to use rustoleum tub and tile refurbishing kit and even with fans on, windows open, and a respirator on, my chest hurt and I only found out people with heart conditions ( which I have) should nooooot be using it. It was a horrible experience and I'm trying to find an alternative that isn't as toxic.

Oh wow I’m so sorry to hear that! Before purchasing I heard many similar things, that it was high in fumes. I’m not sure if it’s toxic so maybe stay away from it just in case.
In my experience though, I personally did not find it that high in fumes. I thought it was better than any indoor spray paint I’ve done before. But maybe contact the company for more info if you want to tackle a similar project. Hope that helps!
