Your countertop was already so nice...
Awww. Thank you for saying so! You couldn't see it from afar but it was actually starting to peel on the sides. But thanks again!
that what you say
Same thing i said
LoL 😆 look better BEFORE 🤦🏻♂️
Sugar Rae Bryant So what! So, she wanted to change it. It looks way better because most apartments have that same type of counters and hours will stand out now.
I literally just watched your video on Amazon. I ordered this contact paper to use in the Makeover of our vanity area off our master bedroom...I can't wait to get it and get started on the Makeover. TFS!
I’d never cover up that counter top,,it’s beautiful,,, but like your DYI,, Great idea 💡
That’s so nice of you to say but it really was falling apart. Typical quality you find in NYC rentals. 😂
It’s nice bit it’s out dated the marble looks more sleek
Hi just watched your video. Would like to get an update from you. How long did this last? Did you notice any lifting on the overlapped parts?
Wow !! It looks great !! Great job !!
Looks fresh neat and tidy well done you 👍
How do you feel now, has it kept up? Does it look weird/fake in person? Thanks
Awesome video!! Thank you. I do have a question, is it water proof so I can use on bathroom sink counter tops
I wanted to flip to a different video at first. However, I am so glad that I didn’t. I love what you have done. The tips that you covered I hadn’t seen on other channels. Nicely done.
Thanks so much! Appreciate it, Aaron.
Thank you for sharing! 👍🏾
Thank you for watching!
Ficou linda sua cozinha, amei a frase na blusa " MAS AMOR POR FAVOR" você já veio ao Brasil 😍😍😍😍😍❤💚💙💛
Beautiful job Mija!! God bless.
Thanks so much!
Easy DYI, upgrade of your kitchen. It looks very nice. tfs
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment!
GREAT JOB. VERY PRETTY.
Thanks so much!
Looks gorgeous. I was thinking about doing this then looked to see if anyone had already and yup!
Thanks os much for watching! I hope it was helpful to you!
I love it.
Thank you!
Looks great!!
Thank you!
I’ve heard windex and a soap and water mix lightly on the counters and a squeegee works wonders with air bubbles, also a hair dryer is supposed to be good for stretching the material around corners
Thank you! I just bought my first home and I got contact paper to spice up my kitchen
Yay! Please let me know how it does! Best of luck to you!
This was such a helpful tutorial, such a great way to change up the look of your kitchen with costly reno charges..😍👍
Thanks so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
Excellent video. I recently purchased the paper. I like the way you did the sink. That was my biggest concern. I am a DIY person so this project should be very easy for me to do-:)
Thank you. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Best of luck! Let mw know how it goes for you
very nice looks great Jessica xx
Thanks so much love! Xoxo
Heck yeah, everything in my house is about to be Marble!!
Have fun! 😂
Nice vlog I can’t wait to do mines I live in apt too 🙄

Thank you, Johnny!
Wow... good makeover
Thanks so much!
really nice job looks good
you should had a good man there helping you out,?
@@richardjackson9083 Really? It's 2019 sir. lol
Megan walsh u can do it love xxxx
you can add a clear epoxy coat to make it waterproof!
Great tip!
Love your profile pic, totally thought it was a weird hair on my phone 🙄
@@FoodShowFan😁
I looked at some online...its already waterproof!!
Hey it’s been over 2 years so you still have it? If so how is it holding up
Great video ! I tried to paint my countertops and it was a complete and total disaster 😔it’s either I buy a new countertop or do what you did. I think I’ll try your method. Has it been holding up well ???
I really recommend that you try this first since it’s such an affordable DIY to try (links to all the material is in the description). It’s not a forever fix but how log it holds up really depends on how you take care of it. Let me know if you give it a try.
Will do thanks !!
Hi, I want to ask what are you using to cut the excess material of wallpaper? Please tell me, I want to buy that
Hey there! All of the products are linked in the description box. Thank so much for watching!
great look! what about moisture and heat?
Thanks! I haven't had any issues with it but I definitely always use hot plates or cutting boards so prevent damage.
That looks beautiful! Will you give us an update on how they've held up?
Yes, definitely. Thanks so much for watching!
I bought this exact brand and style lol trying tomorrow. What would u recommend to seal the overall top with?
I didn't seal it at all. It didn't need it. I would only suggest using caulk around the sink but that's about it. Good luck!
Epoxy or miniwax
@@nicnonya5239 wait? You can use minwax on contact paper? I know about the expoxy...but the minwax, have you try it? Cause I’m planning to use the contact paper and sealed it with something. Please answer
Can get faux marble light switch covers and backsplaah!
Yes! Totally! :)
Can this be used over ceramic tile countertops?
I think it would work it you cut out the tile pieces individually. Otherwise you’ll see those dents.
Can we put gas stove on it
Would you recommend using clear caulking around the sink to prevent water from getting in the seams?
I do. It will help last longer for sure.
@@jessicayflores thank you for your reply. I appreciate the advice!
I really want to do this, but I'm scared it will hurt the countertop once I remove it! Are you not worried about the removal?
Sorry for missing your question! No, it wasn't a worry for me the counter was cheap and already falling apart. I know the super will have to replace it whenever we move out (maybe even before that).
The white marble comes in 36" width for a SEAMLESS installation. NO Seams, NO Matching, Means LESS WORK!!!
Would you like to sponsor my next video? 😂😉
Great video and the newer countertop looks wonderful because mostly all apartments use that same type of look for the kitchen and bathroom. My only gripe is that you did not use the caulk and if you didn’t use the caulk, why suggest it?
Because it’s optional. I chose not to do it but wanted to let others know that they can if they want to. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment. Enjoy the rest of your day.
Does it stain? I wipe down my counters constantly, how is the wear, and tear?
Does the splash from the sink ruin it?
How have they held up so far? How do you clean yours?
They have held up very well. I haven't had to remove or redo any section so far. :)
Will it not peel off when it gets wet or water runs through it?
It hasn't peeled off but it does start to show wear and tear along the edges. But how long or how much depends on how you take care of it.
I have this exact counter top in my apartment. It’s in great condition but I just don’t like it. I plan to cover mine as well.
I did it & I love it!
No Jessica your counter is already very very super look👌👌👌
Thank you for thinking so. Thankfully the camera didn't pick up just how bad the condition of our counters were. Typical quality issues you can find in NYC rentals.
Love your video! but also wondering why in the finish look I can't see the seam at all - it looks just like a whole piece of marbel. Did you align the texture exactly?
Hey there! Sorry for missing your question. I actually overlapped them. They tend to separate and trap dirt in the seam if you try to align them next to each other. The print is just great to camouflage where the piece overlap.
Thanks so much for watching!
I’m making mine the same
Yay!!! Let me know how it goes for you
Where can I get that dishrack from???
The dish rack is linked in the description box.
Its contact paper is heat proof ???
🙄🙄 really?
WOW I love the worktops you already had!! So shiny and modern. Thanks for video.
I want to do this but add a layer of epoxy over it to make it durable and permanent.
Lovely beautiful j
Thanks so much!
Can you add polyurethane for protection
Not if she needs to remove it. But if it's your house I dont see a problem. Just do it in thin layers.
I didnt see anything wrong with the before countertop. It was very nice before.
Thanks but as I mentioned it wasn't in good condition. You can actually see that the side laminate is peeling off the particle board around the 5:13 mark. Thanks for watching!
Your counters were already nice
They were peeling but thanks for thinking so.
Paper name plz
Everything is linked in the description box.
Nice! Push the coffee maker over to hide the cord for a “cleaner” look
Thanks so much! Good tip!
@@jessicayflores keep that junk to yourself
@@richardjackson9083 Let's all think about keeping things to ourselves. lol
But isn't that gonna burn (while using near stove or placing any hot vessels) or wear/tear on long run?
I'm happy to report that I've had no heat damage or heat issues since I did this in 2018. :)
I wish my countertops were as nice as your before.
I need to figure out what lens I used for this video because apparently it hid how much my countertops were falling apart. lol
What about the encounter with the water and heat
No issues.
Starts at 1:56
.....nice job! Overall. Looks good!
I admire your dish rack. Where can i get one?
Thank you! The link to the dish rack is in the description box of this video. Have a great day!
@@jessicayflores thnk you.Have a great day too.
Hi Jessica, I've read some of your comments & your replies about how it's held up. I did my moms counter top. Cleaned counters and wiped down with alcohol to rid residue before applying contact paper and even sealed it with polyurethane just to make it more durable and it is NOT holding up! It is coming apart (making a gap) at the seams? Also keeps coming out from under the cabinet edges, I even tried using heat gun like a few videos showed,,, has yours shown any signs of this?
Hey there! I definitely did not do hose extra steps of applying polyurethane or using a head gun and they've held up pretty well. I overlapped the pieces fo contact paper along the seam so they haven't pulled apart. It also isn't lifting from the edges. The only wear I'm seeing is along the edges of the sink, but I didn't apply calk as I suggested in the video. I've also had a few family members cut directly on the contact paper without a cutting board (grrrr!) so there are a few knicks because of that as one would expect. Did you use the contact paper I linked to in the description of the video?
to make it hold up put a clear coat sealer on it
@@richardjackson9083 what clear coat do u recommend?
I have done this. My moms countertops were over 14 ft. Buying the best quality is so important and not tackling in large strips. Work with a smaller sized roll. Take your time and do not use gorilla glue !!!!
Awsss
Trying mine right now...the air bubbles😪😪
Has this pealed for you at all/ is it easy to clean?
It's super easy to clean. It hasn't really pealed except for this one area where we continue to slide our coffee machine from the back to the front of the counter. Overall, it's held up really well.
Thanks for the response! I'm doing this to my kitchen this weekend
Landlords don’t put a lot of money into their rentals because: 1) They cannot get the money back by raising their rates. 2) Renters don’t take care if things. We had rental property for years and went out of our way to keep good renters.
This lady started out with nice, modern counters that had rounded edges. Basically she just wanted to change the color My counter tops are 55 years old and have squared edges. Contact paper wound not make nice looking edges. Also, installing contact paper is an art; ask anyone who has used it very much.
Yes, that is the sentiment that many landlords share as to why they don't install quality products in apartments. Although in New York City, it's a difficult argument to make that landlords don't make their money back with the current state of NYC realty. One can also argue that investing in better materials and appliances wind up being more cost effective in the long run that using products that will just need to be updated/fixed/repurchased more often. But you can't blame folks for choosing the bottom line when it comes to making profit. And, of course, not all landlords are alike as not all tenants are alike.
As I mentioned in the video, these laminate countertops were in bad shape. You can see the the peeling in parts of this video if you look closely. That's the beauty of DIY projects. Anyone CAN do it. Or at least they can certainly try in situations where they can't make things worse. ;)
Your countertop was fine my color was a green and is stained
No, it wasn’t. There were/are pieces that separated from the particle board underneath. This DIY wasn’t just about the color of the cheap counter but to coverup some of those loose pieces. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.

I am 100% the Latina Tina Fey. There's even a song about it. lol
I thnk u should use a small wiper to deal with that big paper

How old are you? lol
Love it! I also have a diy video about turning my countertop into a marble one. Check it out 😍♥️
It looked better before that's way too much white
As I mentioned, we only have one window in the kitchen so we really welcomed the way all the white has brightened up the room. Thanks for watching and sharing your opinion.
that what you think don't mean a thing
@@jessicayflores Looks so much more modern and brighter in my opinion. Great design choice!
Nice sticker mobile number
What’s a sticker mobile number?
My kitchen is so ugly counter top. Your previous countertop is sufficient to me.doenst need any contact paper countertop
Thanks for all your opinions.
This is how not to do it
Thanks for taking time out of your day to watch and comment, Chris. Enjoy the rest of your Saturday evening.
