In what was once a Lexus hallmark, they've ceded powertrain polish to Acura. The J-Series V6 and 10AT is a sublime powertrain. The old Lexus RX was unquestioned for its hushed environment, impeccable build quality, and just an overall smoothness while going down the road. Now, with a less-premium interior, there just doesnt seem to be an advantage anymore. The Acura just seems to offer the right mix at this price point.
Granted, the RX is likely to retain higher resale value, but both of these are generally leased anyway.

Acura just need to bring back they hybrid engine options for the MDX and additionally for the RDX. Lexus definitely has the edge with engine choices. I wouldn't say that the 4 cyl engine on the Lexus is not going to be reliable, but the V6 in the Acura will definitely outlast that 4cyl engine in the Lexus. It's as simple as that!

Fuel economy is huge plus you can burn regular fuel in the hybrid Lexus versus premium fuel only on the Acura. People who want better build quality, actual luxury and reliability as well as good gas mileage. Acuras are pitifully put together. My RDX is a rattling shitbox. I hear the same complaints from MDX owners. Nobody cares about handling on a crossover in this segment, except the Acura/Honda fanboys. We got the Acura then our Lexus ... it's no comparison that we'll be sticking with Lexus and never returning to Acura, which is a fake premium brand. Hell, I'd go Mazda over Acura at this point.
Once Toyota works out the issues with the 3.4TT, we'll be dumping the POS Acura and picking up a GX550. Not like Honda isn't spinning rod bearings thanks to the VCM in their V6's that are still ongoing even in motors built today and their 1.5T's are eating their piston rings from fuel dilution.
Who would pay $68k for a tarted up Honda is the better question.

RX 350 is actually Highlander well, Lexus TX is 99% of a grand Highlander. If you are rich and want to pay premiums over the same thing, be my guest !

Engineering background both have their advantages and disadvantage.
The advantage for the Acura MDX is it affordability , as long as you don’t opt out for The S type.
The advantage of the Lexus RX 350
Is you only need to put 87 regular gas.
The disadvantage of the Lexus is the price.
The disadvantage of the MDX is you have to put high octane 91 gas.
You have to weigh the pro’s and the con’’s. Honestly, F sport and S type is not worth it. I have the Lexus EX 350 luxury and the wife has the MDX. Oh one last thing, the MDX is slightly larger and comes with a 3rd row but that is for show and small kids might be impressed.
I bought the Lexus because High Octane in Las Vegas is 80 cents more and according to Lexus 17.2-17.8 gallons and keep this in mind. Lexus get’s about 2 niles per gallon more combined 24 vs 22.l MOG. All of these are things to consider, when making a purchase.

I’m digging both but Lexus lost when Toyota decided to go with turbo-ed 4 cylinders instead of a v6 on some of their models. Lexus should have opted for a v6. Turbos are fun but problematic. More moving parts more problems. Not to mention you have to use higher octane fuel. So if you do better on mpg, you loose your savings buying the better quality fuel. I know because we drive turbo-ed 4 cylinder, it’s not a bad ride, but NA vehicles are better quality in the long run.

Acura, you can use regular gas for sure. I'm not sure about Lexus. Although Lexus are nice, reliable vehicles, they are usually ugly and don't handle as well as Acura. Also, you can definitely see toyota in they looks. Acura is also reliable, and you can barely see honda in they looks so my choice was easy.
