Bought the Lexus TX350 Luxury because of the better 3rd row. We have the 2nd row captains chairs as well. We’ve owned a 2013 CX9, 2016 MDX, 2017 Tahoe, 2021 Suburban and now this TX and it’s the first time my kids fight over who sits in the 3rd row because it’s so comfortable. They have reclining seats, their own A/C vents, cup holders, phone charger. Leather seats comfortable for long road trips and no complaints. It drives like a small vehicle and has minimal body roll. Engine is fine especially in sport mode. We got 28 MPG on the road trip. Great purchase.
I'm just curious, why do you consider bigger wheels to be a plus? The tires cost more, the wheels are more prone to damage (and cost more to replace), and the ride can be harsher with the larger wheels. Finally, bigger wheels are heavier than smaller ones, adding to unsprung weight, reducing handling ability (not that that matters too much on these SUVs.)
Not only that but they gave a point for power folding 3rd row which took about 5x longer to fold down than the manual MDX 3rd row. I would prefer manual all day any day.
Larger wheels increase the weight or the load of the vehicle and reduce acceleration. It is important to note that bigger wheels mean you can reach a higher top speed, but the time you take to get that higher speed could be significantly longer. Also, the larger a surface area something covers, the more weight it can support. Similarly, larger wheels have a better grip on the ground and improve the load-bearing capacity of the vehicle.
I sometimes consider big wheels a huge minus due to low-profile tires that will go flat very easily. It’s the one thing that kept my family from buying a MDX Type-S last year when we were in the market for a new SUV. We ended up getting a normal MDX instead and love it.
@@CarGeek360Agree - I am considering a Limited Grand Highlander with 2nd row bench seat for the cargo space, and I would want to swap someone for their 18" wheels/tires off of the XLE trim. Glad you like the normal MDX - the Type S is on my list as well, but as it creeps up and up towards 80 grand, while that's in the budget, I think I'd rather get an X5 - not as much cargo space, but plenty of fun with that amazing straight 6! And if I went for the Type S, once again I'd try to trade with someone that has the regular MDX with smaller wheels. I just wonder where does this stupid craze end? I think we're very close to the limit with 22" wheels on the Lexus TX. The only good thing I have to say about bigger wheels is that, in general, with less sidewall flex comes better handling (if the car is designed for handling, which for the most part these bigger SUVs are *not*).
If you don’t care about driving get the Lexus and if you want to have fun/enjoy while driving to work, store, home etc get the Acura. I have a 2022 Acura MDX a spec in blue with red interior and I love driving it everyday! I drove a Lexus Rx and it’s boring lol it’s not for me! But everyone have different opinions. Good luck!
I think the TX would be a better seller if it had a V6, I'm not paying $67k for a turbo charged 4 cyl, when I can get a smoother, more reliable and powerful v6 which is tried and true for a lower price, and the MDX is sexier, and it handles better, and I can get a type s with more power if needed. It's basically a nicer grand highlander
MDX definitely is the better looking vehicle. I haven't driven the TX, but the MDX gives a good driving experience. Among the cars I have driven (Defender, X5, MDX, RX, XC 90), only the Defender and X5 felt better (in terms of driving experience). Additionally, the MDX has been around for a while now and that certainly gives it an edge.
I test drove an MDX (non-Type-S) back to back with an X5 40i without M package, and the MDX was far superior in driving dynamics. The X5 had a much creamier ride, but it also felt very insecure on the road whereas the MDX felt very confident. I would have had to pay much more for the M Package with the X5 to get comparable handling.
@@senorgato70 I also test drove similar models and when I said the X5 felt better it wasn't by much and quite likely my opinion was influenced by the brand name.
I’m honestly shocked the difference in handling between the MDX and X5 wasn’t much to you. Our MDX handles incredibly but I thought the X5 would handle much better.
Both the Defender and the new MDX can be equipped with adaptive air suspension. Did both the Defender and MDX you drove have this option? If so, did the Defender have a smoother ride or are you saying it felt more planted? I prefer a boat-like, floaty feel where I can’t feel bumps or pot holes too much.
@@Cleaning_Hero Sorry man, I wasn't conscious of the ride feel. I was referring to the power side of things, including the grunt that the engine produced.
I shall prefer MDX over TX. MDX feels more refined. Only reason to consider TX is hybrid option. With that, price differential is bigger. MDX second row is more versatile. Hybrid TX only offers 6 seats. The biggest reason however is more local. I despise business ethics (or lack of) local dealership.
Great comparison. Thank you guys! I much prefer the Acura styling and V6 engine over the Lexus TX. However, when I do make my purchase it will be for the Acura MDX Type S instead of the Acura MDX.
Before you get a MDX Type-S (btw an incredible SUV) just know that the MDX Type-S comes with low-profile tires that go flat easily. If you’re driving on good roads and not going on long drives, the Type-S is the way to go, but if you’re going on long drives (particularly in areas the roads are not good as if the roads are good in the areas you are going it does not matter) and regularly driving on bad roads, I would stick to the normal MDX.
@@naveenthemachineIk that but the concern with the MDX Type-S is the tires will go flat easily. It’s a major inconvenience especially on road trips. It’s the one and only reason we personally bought a normal MDX over the Type-S when we were in the market a year ago.
I still much prefer how the Acura drives, the better looks, a reliable V6 powertrain, and more than enough space. It also doesn’t feel like a glorified pilot unlike the TX and Grand Highlander.
I agree. Acura did a much better job a differentiating the Pilot and MDX. The TX comes across as more "Highlander Platinum" than a premium Lexus product, particularly the interior. The Mazda CX-90's interior seems better than the Lexus.
Hello gentlemen. Good comparison video between the 2024 Acura MDX and the 2024 Lexus TX 350. We were all waiting patiently for this comparison video and it took place. What really stand out for the TX was the overall space. That's what helped it. As for the MDX, that's good Acura still stood firm on solid ground by staying with the V6 engine. I would rather hear the sound from a V6 engine than from a 4 cylinder engine. In upcoming comparison videos it would be nice to see either one of these two vehicles go up against the Infiniti QX60 in the Autograph trim, the Jeep Grand Cherokee L in the Summit Reserve trim and the Audi Q7 in the Prestige trim. BMW with the X5, Mercedes with the GLE and Genesis with the GV80 would've been good competitors for either one of these two vehicles, but the only issue is that they only have the third row seating as an option and it's not standard.
MDX hands down! It’s better driving, looks more premium and has a more refined drivetrain. The TX feels more Toyota than Lexus, however, if you need the space and fuel economy go for the TX.
If you need space go telluride or palisade. Suck it up and pay more for fuel because it’s about what’s the most practical and more comfortable and most loaded suv for the money
MDX for me. I don't think the TX will affect its sales. If anything, the TX will affect the RX sales the most just like the Grand Highlander has literally cut the Highlander's sales in half. I don't believe that the TX and MDX are going after the same buyer. the MDX 3rd row is a nice to have but not a necessity for its buyers. If those buyers wants 3rd row room, they would go with the Pilot.
I drove them both and THE MDX WAS MY CHOICE. I did not like the TX 4 banger engine, and it looks like a school bus. The MDX performs much better, design is much nicer, it has a richer interior, and is quieter. I like the 10 speed transmission and the smooth V-6 engine. I like the touch pad infotainment interface. The MDX was completely redesigned in 2022, so it is still fresh. I have owned it for a few thousand miles, and it is spectacular. Typical Acura quality and comfort.
I’ve been viewing your reviews for quite some time and I Love them. You guys do an amazing job. My only qualm is when testing the audio. We would get a much better idea of how the audio systems sound if you use the same music track in both vehicles when doing comparisons. Using two different audio files doesn’t provide the same feedback or sound. Thanks for listening and keep up the great reviews.
Once again a great video I enjoyed! I personally prefer the MDX as it has a V6 and I’m not a fan of the TX having a 4 cylinder (same reason why I don’t like the XC90 plus I dislike the seats in that SUV). Both SUVs are incredible and are most definitely at the top of the segment though (other than maybe a BMW X7 but that’s also quite a bit more expensive and I found it to be cramped when I sat in one + the X7 seats are good but they are no where near great). I would not take a X7 on a long road trip personally. The Mazda CX90 is also a great option but I feel like that focuses more on being sporty/fun while the MDX and TX prioritize luxury 1st (all great choices though). To be fair you can get the MDX Type-S but with those low-profile tires that go flat easily I’m personally going to have to refuse. My personal pick in the segment would either be a normal MDX or a plug-in hybrid TX both of which have V6s thankfully (I wish Acura would add a hybrid option to the new gen MDX), but the CX90 and X7 are well worth looking at too! I would not go for a GLE, GLS, Pallisade, or Telluride due to bad reliability. Finally, there’s the Audi Q7 and the Infiniti QX60, but those will never do it for me as the Q7 exterior is boring IMO, the cargo space isn’t that good, and the 3rd row is useless (atp the Q8 is a much better choice for a bit more money), and the new QX60 has WAY too much body roll for my liking and it negatively affects the driving experience. Edit: There’s also the Genesis GV80 but I’m honestly not a fan of the look and the MDX/TX will be more reliable.
I agree with you for the most part, except being a bmw owner since 2015 i will most likely going for the X7 first choice and TX second choice with a battle between CX-90. I test drove Acura MDX Type-S (was nice but that scroll button for infotainment system felt so 5yrs ago lol), the 3rd row was very cramped for its price as well. I really enjoyed the CX-90 Turbo S model (wow factor, handling, cargo, seating) I am 6'2ft.tall. Now with a newborn our 2020 X4M needs an upgrade.
@@frikitonxplosion the X7 is a great product but it’ll have noticeably less room than the CX90/MDX and a lot less room than the TX, if you want the most space, get the Lexus, if you want the nicest one, get the BMW, if you want something that’s practical while still being luxurious, comfortable, reliable, and fun to drive, go Acura or Mazda, based off ur comment and opinions I personally think a top-trim CX90 with the inline 6 is the best choice for your situation but it’s entirely up to you!
@@CarGeek360 thanks! I will try and see if my local Lexus dealer has a V6 because coming from a 700hp inline twinturbo 6 (has been super reliable in my 4yrs ownership 35,000 miles all year round hauler, snow, rain, and traveled and moved from NYC to FL with it) have only good things to say about it. I've owned a few bmw models since 2015 and the one that drove (handling) wise like a German was the CX-90. I was also shocked the 2023 Carbon Edition CX-9 (lesser model) still had a great handling far less body less than the 2022 MDX Type-S i drove. You think the TX is worth the 10-20k more than the Highlander or Great Highlander?
@@frikitonxplosion weather the TX is worth it over the Grand Highlander or not depends on the person. Honestly you won’t like either coming from a X4M. I’d go CX90 if I were you. You’ll enjoy it a lot more!
Nice review again. I love my 2023 mdx type S and don't regret even with your score and its a bit unfair because mdx is few years older and easier for someone to find things to improve with something newer. As for sound systems that is subjective like style and design. I have no issues with my mdx and probably far more fun to drive and my younger nephews and nieces have no problem in the back. Middle row okay for my 17 years old son at 6ft 5in which he also prefer back of our Integra on 7 hours road trip instead of our 2020 2.0T Accord which has more room and barely fit in back of our Ridgeline trucks.
Thanks for the super helpful review. Recommend that you play the SAME music during stereo comparison. It is hard to discern differences in sound quality unless you play the SAME track side by side. Thank you!
The TX is packaged very well in terms of using its boxy styling to the max. This is a better buy than Lexus' own LX600, which can cost double what this loaded model does. Still, I'd go for the Acura. Yes, it is smaller but Americans would just go for a Yukon, Wagoneer, or Expedition if size were really imperative at this price point. Its so interesting to hear such an unrefined-sounding engine in a Lexus product, a brand that worked diligently in the 90s, 2000s, and 2010s to perfect the hushed powertrain and interior. Which brings me back to the Acura. It handles better, the Honda 10AT is one of the best of any made, the J-Series Honda V6 is still a gem, and IMHO, it looks better.
@@Brian_Eugene_Lee yep! GM struck gold on offering the Duramax 3.0 on their fullsizers. The LZO will be on the '25 refresh models for an even better option.
I don’t know I like both vehicles, but I feel like the more gadgets and gizmos that there are more stuff that will break like the power folding third row seats and the electronic doorhandles on the TX.
Acura looks better, but to each his own. I would lean toward the TX for the 3rd row space and the infotainment ease of use . Need to have the option to actually touch the screen…
Everyone saying mdx drives better and yet none has driven the TX which was literally released and also comes with electrified V6 in the top trims. How do you know if you haven't driven one?
The Tx doesn’t have a double wishbone front suspension or torque vectoring AWD. And the v6 model is significantly more expensive than getting a v6 in the MDX since it’s standard. Not to mention the transmission is more engaging on the Acura than the Lexus
I just found your channel. I am a car fanatic so I look forward to more of your videos. Thank you for your points on here. One thing I’ve noticed as I’ve sat in both cars is that the Acura is a little too small for me. At an athletic 6’ tall and 225 lbs, I want a little more leg room and head room. The only way I can achieve that is by reclining the seat more than I want to. Thank you again for your review.
People say the Lexus is just a glorified Grand Highlander, but I find it better looking, more luxurious, and better laid out than the MDX. Having said that, I still like the MDX.
Yup....went and checked three trims out yesterday. I'm all team TX now. Yeeesh! That Celestial Silver glittered like Gold. The 350h was absolutely dope, but not outrageously sporty. Just enough. I will say, the 22's just LOOK better on the vehicle, but the 20's work just fine. We're all in, waiting for our to hit the lot!
I like my MDX and if replace, I will get the same. I drove and explored the CO mountains and it handled nicely. The long trip was super comfortable too, just like sitting in your living room.
Would be curious to understand a comparison of scheduled maintenance costs? I have a 2018 MDX and had to pay over $1000 for an automatic transmission flush. Had to pay $1600 for four different calibrations when putting on new tires. The maintenance costs are out of control.would be interested to know how the two stack up in this regard? Also, curious to know which car is likely to be less maintenance hassle. At the end of the day I’m willing to pay for a gray car but don’t want to keep paying through the nose when it comes to maintenance and definitely want a hasslefree vehicle.
I like my 24 MDX. Riding quality is good. Good looking exterior and interior. Up to date design and functionalities. Good speakers. Reliability is unknown but based on historical numbers it should be fine. Touchpad is much worse than a touchscreen but it is not a dealbreaker for me. Build quality is mediocre (I have an un-alligned liftgate that still to be fixed. Leather stitchings not as good as competitors like RX. Also noticed many inconsistent gaps around front hood while I was at the dealer. But mine was fine.), fuel economy is very bad. I am getting 15 MPG in the city. It should be at least 18-19 MPG to make sense.
If you’re getting 15mpg then you’re driving way too fast too often and probably drive in sport mode most of the time. Change your driving habits and you’ll easily get 19mpg
@@JGisMe2013 No. I drive in comfort and was extremely soft on pedal. I coast to avoid hard stop. I live in Vancouver where traffic was worst in North America. I almost only drive in heavy city traffic. So that explains part of it. But my previous 3.0T Audi gave me 20 MPG. I am on my second tank of gas and still get 15MPG.
Great review. Thanks, fellas. I want to replace a 2010 Volvo XC90 and consider the MDX a close equivalent. Since our children are all grown and our space needs are minimal, I'm considering comfort and amenities over sheer size. Hence, the Acura is the preferred option. It is slightly larger than the too-small Lexus RX 350 but smaller than the too-big TX350. It appears to be almost the perfect size for us.
MDX has more character throughout (regarding design). The TX shows some character at the nose, then becomes a large shoebox of which is a more practical design (for efficiency). IMO, it's a coin flip depending on family needs, keeping in mind the TX will probably be more dependable.
Dependable? With a turbo 4 in a large suv that’s working hard, not to mention an overcomplex turbo 4 hybrid 6 speed auto, the technology like the door handles or touchpad heads up display combo or the lack of physical controls. No they arent going to be reliable just because it’s a Lexus. If you put any other logo on it you’d say they’ll be junk in a few years
@@naveenthemachineyeah I have to agree with you there. Regardless of the fact that it’s Lexus you still got a turbo 4 and that will always be less reliable than a trusty old V6
My opinion is the reviews are very objective when it comes to the Acura cars. They seem to manipulate their ratings in favor of the the competing vehicles. Ultimately, their reviews are quite subjective based on their personal preferences.
I watched a few your videos, but still can not figure out what does the number mean on the screen. eg: Mdx: 2, TX: 8. If they are score, do they really have such a big gap?
When TX got 4cy only you need to walk away!😂 big size like this need to have atls V6 and all those summary advantage they mentioned are null and void for me. Acura MDX still the king and better reliability on the engine than the small 4cylinder turbo that would stress to haul this big SUV in long run. Plus double wishbone suspension on MDX will give you much more fun to drive while driving a big SUV and makes it feels smaller to handle I knew it because that’s what we use suspension in sports car for upgrades!
Exactly. Way too much car to haul around with a 4, at least for one pushing $70k. And getting into a 6 requires some electrification which may not be wanted, and also pushes this thing towards $80. I don’t see this vehicle being a big success once the initial splash wears off.
@@scooter5940 The only contender for mid size 3rd row was the new Mazda CX-90 for the price, dwill choose that than the 4 banger turbo Lexus. Not just the price but the upgrades in lexus was ridiculous compared to all standard features in MDX. I believed lexus buyers was their old patrons and I bet some of them was disappointed too when they did 4cy turbo but for people liking to upgrade to mid luxury segment and looking to snatch for the last V6’ers engines to keep for a while for the price mazda cx90 probably the winner IMO but MDX has a touch of luxury than the Mazda so its what the taste of buyers will be the deciding factor. Acura has the prestige name so its a win win…oh yeah we loved our Aspec’22 it was like a sporty and performs better and you won’t feel like its a heavy mid size SUV when you push it because it has good performance for a big size SUV.
The TX looks like a glorified highlander that's thousands more over the highlander..make that make sense! At least the mdx doesn't like a honda where as the TX looks like a Toyota that only switches badges from a T to a L
This was an excellent video comparison Car Confections! Since I have seen your 2025 MDX video I'm wondering if there's a 2025 Lexus TX video? I couldn't find it. Since the 2025 MDX advance has a little bit upgrade (touchscreen infotainment) and I think they removed the 12 V plug in the back seat (at least in the new trim Advance A-Spec) just wondering the differences now with the 2025 Lexus TX. also, does the Lexus TX 2024 model have the auto start stop annoyance? Thanks!
ill be buying a TX Premium in December.... Ive owned 3 Subaru Foresters and am looking for more room and a bit more Luxury.. was considering the Subaru Ascent Limmited also.. at this point even though the TX is a bit more $$$.. thats the way Ill probably go... Might be an interesting video, the Ascent against the TX.. sizable price diff but...? thanks Guys !! Ill be watching :)
I'd choose the MDX in a heartbeat. Lexus TX interior quality and design is sub par and the only advantages they have are size. When Acura updates the MDX for 2025 I'm hoping they install power folding seats, bigger infotainment screen and get rid of the track pad. Everything else is a winner.
I’m looking at both also and have 3 golden retrievers which means I really need 3rd row vents in summer for cooling. Can anyone comment on rear ventilation?
The Aviator would be my pick in the segment for a lease but I would avoid purchasing it bc of long-term reliability concerns, TX vs Aviator would be a fun comparison to watch tho
I don’t like the look of the TX, and currently driving a 2019 MDX. The biggest complaints about it, are the space in the third row area, and how the second cabin is not very comfortable on long trips. I wish if it had a bit more power. I feel like the older more thirsty 3.7 L was a bit more powerful. I personally would not buy a seven row SUV with a four-cylinder engine, and to be honest, the MDX does look nicer. Would I buy it again? I’m not sure yet, but the TX does not do it for me!
I have a 19 MDX as well and the 2nd row seats are not as comfy and flat compared to my lazy boy comfy previous 11 MDX 2nd row seats. I wish Acura would proved more 2nd/3rd row vents, ventilated 2nd row seats, and 1st/2nd/3rd zone climate controls. It can take some time to cool down the MDX interior parked in asphalt parking lot on a +100 degree F day with only 1st/2nd row vents (probably worse with +22 MDX Pano sunroof).
Idk if I agree with the engine thing you described bc our 2023 MDX is a lot quicker than our old 2009 despite having slightly less horsepower, probs bc of the transmission
I know I'm a dummy. Yes, tech hater here. I *love* the Acura in so many ways ----but trackpad I can't digest. Why not a touchscreen. Even the idiots at GM have that.
I’ve owned Acura, Honda, Toyota, and Lexus. I’ve had some great experiences with all. Both of these seem to have great amenities. I will say that I hated the infotainment on my previous Acura TLX, and I’ve hated the A/C and lack of rear ventilation in ALL my Honda products. I live in the South, and the ventilation problem is a big issue with me and one reason I now own a Lexus for my personal driver. I do still own a Honda Accord, and it is a great vehicle. I just think the A/C on it is subpar.
@@GiantMaster the market has told. The telluride palisade were difficult to find even before the shortage. That clearly shows how much people really want one of these
It looks and drives like a Toyota. Sounds like a RAV4. Did Toyota pay for this comparison ?. How could you not be disappointed in the TX and at least try to be fair when comparing these two. Also Lexus dealers are adding several thousand dollars in additional dealer markup so your price comparison is way off and again you don’t mention that at all.
No it doesn't. You're absolutely wrong here. It does NOT drive like a Toyota. If you're anywhere near B'Ham AL, check them out. They have three trims on the lot. Premium, Luxury, Hybrid. Beautiful and awesome. I went yesterday. I drove the GrandHighlanders back in August. Sorry, bro. It's cool if you prefer Acura. I say they are the better bang for the buck, if you don't need the space, but to say it drives or even sounds like a Toyota is totally false. The sound deadening in the vehicle is next level compared to GH. Mentioning the Rav4 is just dumb for objective commentary. I'm sorry. Here in the South, markups are rare. In AL, there's one dealer adding $800. We've pre-ordered ours in MS, with no markup. The suspension, the handling, noise levels, smoothness of gear changes, tech, etc, is night and day from Toyota to GH. I was so hoping the GH HMax was close, because that's what I wanted. My wife wants the Lexus. I had to cave. TX wins hands down. I am an admitted Toyota fan boy. Three camry's and a tundra. I also love the MDX, preferably the S-Type, and would recommend if comparing to the 350h, UNLESS you need the space. But from Toys to Lexus, next level.
@@whn2309 The TX is the tied for the quietest in it's class...The MDX. The TX leads by like .2 decibels. You wanna hear some racket? Go drive the GH! That's a noise maker. Not even close.
@@aaronbrooks4091 I think you misunderstood me. It’s only my opinion but in this video you could hear the sound of the engine. I’m sorry if it offends you but it sounds like a four cylinder. Admittedly a quiet four from inside the car but still a four. The MDX six sounds smooth. It makes a sound you appreciate. Inside the car it’s also extremely quiet. However the sound the TX makes is just not what one expects or at least what I expect. The dealers here are marking them up thousands with unwanted BS items that bring the price up to a price that is just absolutely crazy. Congrats on your purchase.
The TX for sure will take away some MDX sales. Acura needs to add an extended length trim, go to a touchscreen infotainment and offer a hybrid V6 option and they’ll secure their dominance.
@@MikeForsythethe only sales the MDX lost were from Lexus buyers who originally chose the MDX because there was no viable Lexus alternative until recently.
A lot of comments were complaints about dealers not supporting the product. Suggest a video on dealer reliability. The vehicle may look sweet and drive fine, but if the dealer doesn't stand behind their product, it doesn't mean very much.
I think I would go for the TX, you just can’t beat its size, I don’t really care about how it drives seeing as it is a 3-row family SUV, I also like that Lexus offers cooled second row seats which is beneficial for us Texas dwellers. I do with both of them offered heated 3rd row seats, additionally I like that Lexus is offering a Plug-in hybrid, something that only the Lincoln Aviator offers in this segment. Both are great and I don’t think you can go wrong with either
TX no question, Lexus reliability! MDX has had quality issues and the back lights are oddly shaped. Lexus hybrid Eddie day is extreme power over any V6 and better for the environment.
The TX is a better family suv and bigger car overall compared to the MDX. It would be closer to like the BMW X7 in my opinion, and still a better value. The only drawback I can see from the TX is that it feels and looks doesn't differentiate much from it cousin Grand Highlander which is already a very good suv.
@@naveenthemachine because for the midsize SUV class, the best is the Toyota Highlander (especially for the American market), although in terms of price and design it doesn't look right, maybe the technology is also lagging behind, but overall the Toyota Highlander is the best in its class, even its sales record alone makes salesmen from other manufacturers it's dizzy. If there really are cars in this class that are better than the Highlander, why are their sales so bad? because there is no stock? Remember, the stock of Toyota cars is very small and because of that, people think that Toyota cars are expensive because demand is high and dealerships dare to give markups, even because of this phenomenon you even say that the latest Toyota Lexus cars will be very expensive, even you guessed tx it's up to 100k even though the MSRP is 70-80k... how come they don't raise the price, people demand is high even though production is small, so automatically the dealer's markup will always be there
TX two-visit maintenance is not a real value add versus the MDX; first Lexus maintenance visit at 5k is an inspection and does not include any fluid changes (for those that prefer 5k oil changes); first Lexus paid oil change is at the second visit at 10k miles and includes the first oil change. Very poor value for the Lexus; not a deal breaker at this price point, but there is a significant difference between the MDX and TX provided maintenance. Also, keep in mind with the turbo engine in the TX, some may want those 5k oil changes.
I wanted to buy a Lexus when I bought in 2022, but I went with the MDX Advance. They didn’t have anything comparable back then with a V6. I still feel like Lexus has awesome sedans and sports cars, but they don’t bring that sporty feel to their SUV’s. MDX for the win here!
I just decided to go with the MDX; I did not hear you say that the base TX does not come with a sun roof. It should be standard with the TX. I also know that a standard 4 cyl..will not out perform a v6. My third decision is that the MDX has a better history than the TX. My forth comment is that my car insurance company will charge me, $600 more for a TX Premium each year. I pickup my MDX aspec tomorrow.
I think most people that are trashing the TX haven't seen or test driven one in person. Regarding the aesthetics, exterior looks are subjective and if we're being honest, ultimately shouldn't matter much when choosing a 3 row SUV that's meant as a family hauler. People have said the interior of the TX is a let down as well, but I compared it to a Grand Highlander, and there is a difference; for a value based buyer, they'll likely be satisfied with the Toyota variant, whereas anyone less price sensitive will opt for the Lexus. it seems the biggest complaint is the turbo 4, but it's surprisingly powerful. The TX has no problem handling daily activities. It's quicker than the old Lexus v6 (I had a previous gen RX350) in city traffic due to the low end torque. It's also more fuel efficient. On paper, a massive 3 row SUV with a 4 cylinder engine doesn't sound like a good idea, but it's totally fine.
The base turbo is significantly slower than your v6 rx350. Second the interior is barely nicer than a grand Highlander platinum and for a Lexus it lacks so many features. The Tx has a v6 but unfortunately that’s a very expensive option. Getting a naturally aspirated v6 in the Tx will cost you significantly more than getting one in just about any other 3 row suv
Ordered and received my wife’s TX 500h Luxury F sport with every option available minus the towing hitch. Indigo exterior with black interior. It’s a great car. We looked at the MDX and did not like the tech features. The MDX does not offer a touch screen. Touch pads are a thing of the past. The power the 500h has is quite impressive considering its weight and being a 4 cylinder Turbo. The hybrid system does help out. It truly feels like an high output 6 cylinder engine. We didn’t purchase the TX for its power though, but for its luxury and comfortable ride. The TX will be great for our family, and we understand not all families are the same. So purchase, drive, and love what you want and what is in your budget. ✌️
@@starlinknows the tech is completely useless in the Lexus. First off who asked for electronic door handles, or a touchpad hud, or the complete eradication of physical controls? Not to mention the MDX has way more features
MDX for me in a heartbeat -Better drive with their SH-AWD. It shines the most in sharp corners, and it drives like a big sedan. Lexus TX and Toyota Grand Highlander drive like a rollercoaster with their bumpy rides. -Subjective but MDX looks better/sportier on the outside and inside. -Naturally aspirated V6 in the MDX will last longer than the Lexus TX’s turbocharging 4-cylinder
The Lexus TX 350 Luxury would be a better choice in my opinion. Especially if size and comfort in 2nd and 3rd row is priority. I would also go for the captain chairs and make the car a 6 seater (except if you need the extra seat) for the Lexus as all 3 rows will be very comfortable.
I would choose the MDX just for engine alone. I do not like turbos. They over rev the motor and wear out the motor faster, turbos fail and its expensive, and I have noticed that they are more prone to oil leaks.
I image the MDX has a smoother ride compared to the TX, since the MDX has air suspension. I do not, however, like the interior dash design of the MDX. The dial on the middle just drives me crazy.

Acura MDX for me 😎
I'm just curious, why do you consider bigger wheels to be a plus? The tires cost more, the wheels are more prone to damage (and cost more to replace), and the ride can be harsher with the larger wheels. Finally, bigger wheels are heavier than smaller ones, adding to unsprung weight, reducing handling ability (not that that matters too much on these SUVs.)
Couldn't agree more.
Good luck!
The 3.5L is just an outright durable and reliable workhorse. (Not to mention you can use regular octane)
откуда бабки Зин?
I think the TX would be a better seller if it had a V6, I'm not paying $67k for a turbo charged 4 cyl, when I can get a smoother, more reliable and powerful v6 which is tried and true for a lower price, and the MDX is sexier, and it handles better, and I can get a type s with more power if needed. It's basically a nicer grand highlander
Tx 550h has v6
@@romandodu9996how much does it cost?
Agreed. MDX wins
@@CarGeek360 but the MDX type s has an adaptive air suspension to help with the ride
Thank you!
Totally agree. The Lexus really doesn't feel special anymore.
Nah.. There 2 more power trims in lexus line up, including a v6🤔🤔💁💁💸💸
@@ju4121How much does the V6 TX cost?
@@AlaskanSnowLeopardstill less than a Type S. Point is, it’s available
Suck it up and pay more for fuel because it’s about what’s the most practical and more comfortable and most loaded suv for the money
mdx cheap in real world price
@@naveenthemachine those aren’t reliable brands. You’re going to be paying for more fuel and for maintenance costs
@@Izaya_Orihara nope. Those tellurides and palisades have been more reliable.
@@Izaya_Orihara so what? If you can afford a luxury car you can most certainly afford the fuel and maintenance costs.
I feel like the TX is not lexus enough. Can’t they just put the Lexus headlights instead of that single projector headlight? Things like that , etc.
@@Wisdom7Iit's just truth. I dislike any car with bus type feel including tx, highlander so on so forth
The TX does offer two additional powertrains. The 500H FSport Performance and the 550h+ which does have a V6 engine paired to a battery pack.
V6 with a CVT. no thanks
@@darkivaz-aaa1145 That's a ECVT not CVT
@@yfbgca9492 still a cvt. No thanks. And it's a toyota

And the MDX offers an additional as well which would by far smoke the other 2 power trains of TX
Thank you!
I've had my TX for a month and I am loving it. I was amazed that the 2.4 turbo could perform like it does. The only issue is the limited color range.
What did the Lexus TX put the trim structure is confusing
I’m happy with my 23 MDX
I already bought mdx advance last month. I like the model and driving over Lexus.
MDX- BEST OF BEST !!!
Mdx looks far better and weirdly even Grand highlander looks better than TX.
The Acura's on demand captains chairs are missing inboard armrests which make it look silly, otherwise this feature would be perfect.
Great comparison! But I prefer the look of the Acura more!
Lexus TX is definitely my choice. No doubt
Agree. More seem to like the MDX though. But I still find the Lexus nicer looking.
Agree
The Tx doesn’t have a double wishbone front suspension or torque vectoring AWD. And the v6 model is significantly more expensive than getting a v6 in the MDX since it’s standard. Not to mention the transmission is more engaging on the Acura than the Lexus
The TX 500h F will put you close to $80k with just a few options. Not a good comparison when it come to pricing just to get the V6.
-1 for eletric handles, I have the strength to open myself and prefer the no lag and feel of a real physical handle.
Glad you enjoyed and welcome to the channel!
@@aaronbrooks4091 Awesome. Rest assure, you got yourself a good car.

Really depends on whether you want to use the third row often. If so the Lexus, if not the Acura. For me at least.
Love our MDX. I wish they kept the hybrid for the newer model.
I like my MDX and if replace, I will get the same. I drove and explored the CO mountains and it handled nicely. The long trip was super comfortable too, just like sitting in your living room.
The New Toyota Century is actually based on the TX plug in hybrid
I definitely love the look of the tx and knowing the non touch screen of the MDX definitely helps with the tx having more simple and easier to us
Lexus all the way 👏🏾
Acura all day, naturally aspirated engine will outlast for longest time rather than turbocharged engine

Did you have this work done at the dealer? That sounds outrageous
If i had to choose its the MDX, i do think the TX exterior looks much better but that's the only real plus for me.
You are right I have same opinion
I would pick the Lexus TX

Or if u want something from Audi that's full sized, wait for the Audi q9
Why not just get the AMG GL63S?
I'd choose the MDX in a heartbeat. Lexus TX interior quality and design is sub par and the only advantages they have are size. When Acura updates the MDX for 2025 I'm hoping they install power folding seats, bigger infotainment screen and get rid of the track pad. Everything else is a winner.
I’m looking at both also and have 3 golden retrievers which means I really need 3rd row vents in summer for cooling. Can anyone comment on rear ventilation?

Amazing comparison as always! I know I'm super late to watch this, but can you guys compare the TX to the Aviator? Love it!!!
Market will tell!
The benchmark and leader in this specific segment would be either Lexus TX or Toyota Grand Highlander.
No it isn’t. The benchmark is the telluride palisade
@@naveenthemachine As mentioned, the market will tell.
@@GiantMaster the market has told. The telluride palisade were difficult to find even before the shortage. That clearly shows how much people really want one of these
@@naveenthemachine Similar to the current Highlander but the waiting list of Highlander is far longer than any Korean SUV.
@@GiantMaster the telluride also has a waiting list and markups
You guys should do a comparison between the TX and the QX60
Interior is better in Acura surprisingly.
We're totally debating on these two cars. Good review!
@@aaronbrooks4091 you are absolutely correct. Sound deadening to cover up how the engine sounds is definitely very important in this vehicle.
@@whn2309 Props. You are due that perspective and opinion.
The TX for sure will take away some MDX sales. Acura needs to add an extended length trim, go to a touchscreen infotainment and offer a hybrid V6 option and they’ll secure their dominance.
No it won’t 😂. The MDX has nothing to worry about now that this abomination of a so called luxury 3 row is here
@@MikeForsythethe only sales the MDX lost were from Lexus buyers who originally chose the MDX because there was no viable Lexus alternative until recently.
The aviator no longer has a PHEV. They just killed it off
The only phevs are the xc90 and perhaps even a Chrysler Pacifica phev
TX no question, Lexus reliability! MDX has had quality issues and the back lights are oddly shaped. Lexus hybrid Eddie day is extreme power over any V6 and better for the environment.
The TX is a better family suv and bigger car overall compared to the MDX. It would be closer to like the BMW X7 in my opinion, and still a better value. The only drawback I can see from the TX is that it feels and looks doesn't differentiate much from it cousin Grand Highlander which is already a very good suv.
The grand highlander isn’t a very good suv 😂. It still fails to compete with the telluride or palisade or pilot even
@@naveenthemachine because for the midsize SUV class, the best is the Toyota Highlander (especially for the American market), although in terms of price and design it doesn't look right, maybe the technology is also lagging behind, but overall the Toyota Highlander is the best in its class, even its sales record alone makes salesmen from other manufacturers it's dizzy. If there really are cars in this class that are better than the Highlander, why are their sales so bad? because there is no stock? Remember, the stock of Toyota cars is very small and because of that, people think that Toyota cars are expensive because demand is high and dealerships dare to give markups, even because of this phenomenon you even say that the latest Toyota Lexus cars will be very expensive, even you guessed tx it's up to 100k even though the MSRP is 70-80k... how come they don't raise the price, people demand is high even though production is small, so automatically the dealer's markup will always be there
My parents cross-shopped the X7, MDX, Q7, and QX60 in 2022, shockingly the MDX has more legroom than the X7
@@naveenthemachinenaveentheliar doing what he does best 👍
@@CarGeek360 ok then prove to me why the grand highlander and tx are better than the competition and go into great detail
Thanks for this video been waiting for a comparison since TX came out
TX two-visit maintenance is not a real value add versus the MDX; first Lexus maintenance visit at 5k is an inspection and does not include any fluid changes (for those that prefer 5k oil changes); first Lexus paid oil change is at the second visit at 10k miles and includes the first oil change. Very poor value for the Lexus; not a deal breaker at this price point, but there is a significant difference between the MDX and TX provided maintenance. Also, keep in mind with the turbo engine in the TX, some may want those 5k oil changes.
That TX is growing on me and I really like that space
Fantastic comparison!😸
I wanted to buy a Lexus when I bought in 2022, but I went with the MDX Advance. They didn’t have anything comparable back then with a V6. I still feel like Lexus has awesome sedans and sports cars, but they don’t bring that sporty feel to their SUV’s. MDX for the win here!
Does anyone know the song they use in their intro?
Indiferente - Almighty
MDX is a better-looking SUV.
MDX
Lexus design looks out dated , MDX
I need to see the tx500h f sport vs the mdx type s advance
In my opinion....THAT's where the pound for pound fight is...and based on Features alone, I think the Acura would win.
@aaronbrooks4091 thr TX ill say wins tech wise but the mdx got it in looks apart from looks Only thing I trust more is the engine on the mdx
MDX would destroy it inside and out
@@naveenthemachine idk bout that and trust me I love the mdx but tech wise lexus got it looks Def the mdx
@@starlinknows the tech is completely useless in the Lexus. First off who asked for electronic door handles, or a touchpad hud, or the complete eradication of physical controls?
Not to mention the MDX has way more features
MDX for me in a heartbeat
-Better drive with their SH-AWD.
I drove a three row MDX and it doesn't really feel like a huge vehicle. Does the TX feel massive when driving? How about weight and breaks?
I'm not that huge of a fan of how the TX looks, but you have to admit the MDX looks really dated
MDX for me. TX resembles GH in looks.
Love to see the Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy vs. Lexus TX/Grand Highlander comparison
The tx is bigger than the palisade the palisade offers massage driver seat u have to get lx 600 to get that feature
The palisade would destroy it in a heartbeat
The Lexus TX 350 Luxury would be a better choice in my opinion. Especially if size and comfort in 2nd and 3rd row is priority. I would also go for the captain chairs and make the car a 6 seater (except if you need the extra seat) for the Lexus as all 3 rows will be very comfortable.
I love your split comprising detailed video
Thanks!
@@CarConfections bro you forgot smile meter for TX
I would choose the MDX just for engine alone. I do not like turbos. They over rev the motor and wear out the motor faster, turbos fail and its expensive, and I have noticed that they are more prone to oil leaks.
I image the MDX has a smoother ride compared to the TX, since the MDX has air suspension. I do not, however, like the interior dash design of the MDX. The dial on the middle just drives me crazy.
The tech and size have made the TX my choice..The Acura has better finishes.
