I just had bad luck most times. Right now I have a 2013 Dodge Avenger SXT that I love for driving my wife and kid around in. I'm doing my best to keep it running well. Just replaced the battery, battery wires, and alternator in it. It's a slick little car. I love it.
i had the same luck with cars. my record was 4 lemons in 1 year. fix the brake system and the timing belt would go. replace a head gasket and the rear end would break. just some cars seem to have gremlins and wont break down till i own it.
My first car was a lime green ‘79 Pontiac Grand Prix with avocado interior that was covered in bondo and rust with a dented right fender that I bought from an old man in Edgewater, NJ for $100 when I was 23 years old back in 2004. It was a ginormous piece of shit, but I was proud of it because I bought it on my own. I lived at home in section 8 housing in Guttenberg at the time and was working overnights at a convenience store. Nobody handed me anything. It was a milestone accomplishment in my book.
my first car I had to crawl in and out of the passenger window, crawl over the stick, and it had to be push started, I bought it for 50 bucks, 10 months later, sold it for 50 bucks!

Yea I gotta agree Subis are great cars minus the 2.5 ltr boxer engine that give you a nice 1-2k dollar head gasket repair bill at around 100k. It's worth it though. I've had pretty much every model but the Forrester and Baja and they're all tanks in the winter. And that's going up to the mountains in Vermont driving the same way I do in the summer and no issues. Especially with studded snow tires. So fucking good in the snow. The awd VW Passat I have now is a tank too. Another I can suggest if you drive in the snow a lot.
My first car was a ford escort XR3 (wasnt the i injection model as it had carburettor's) and it cost nearly as much to insure than i paid for it. Back in the early 90s back when it was still easy to steal cars.

Then, in Glenwood Springs someone offered the same price! It's almost like they know what these Higlanders are worth to THEM! Considering, Kelley Blue Book on it is only $5k. I'll never sell it!

Day after, it threw a serpentine belt and killed the power steering pump. It was running and driving perfect for a year with the exception of the wheel bearing going out one time. So yeah, I definitely understand having bad luck with cars.
My first car was a 2000 Honda Civic hatchback. 5 speed, base model of the base model. Manual windows, manual locks, manual seats, doesn’t even have a CD / tape deck. Bought it from my brother when I was 17, he bought it from the original owner. I love it to death and still drive it today.

Subarus are tough cars. I'm awful about taking care of cars besides an 80s Camino I'm fixing up. But the 05 subaru I've had for 7 years and have really never done any maintenance to it still runs pretty well. It has a couple things I have to addrees soon, but overall those those things are built to last
