The cabin filter catches dirt and debris from the outside air and prevents it from being pulled into the cab when you're not recirculating air. If you don't change the filter it will start to smell and clog up so it's good to swap it out every once in awhile.

According to my research there is not one on the 2016.
There is no need to remove all 4 screws just the 2 outer ones.

FFS why didnt they just put it inside the transmission. Abnormally difficult for an item that needs serviced often especially in really dusty area
