I just changed mine today for the first time since 2019 and it was a bit dirty but not full of leaves and stuff that my son’s truck was at six months old. Although the video makes it appear a pain in the butt it’s not hard. It took me literally minutes. The hardest part was finding a 7 mm socket.

I was thinking the same thing when I was watching the video. I just bought my first truck, the F-150 XLT. Previously I had a 2003 Ford Subaru and that was a much quicker process. Like two clips to get the glove box out, then a "door" was right there to access the air filter. 10 minute job. I expect this F-150 to take 30-45 minutes my first time lol

THANK YOU for showing how to do this for the Platinum F-150! Most people don't seem to understand the Platinum trim is different from other trims! The only issue I had was one of the white clips fell down into the opening and disappeard. Now I cover the opening to make sure nothing can fall down it.

Thanks for the video. I bought a 2017 F150 3 months ago and I'm changing the oil and all three filters now just to be safe.
I had trouble getting the front plastic piece off (the one with the screws), it felt like there was an extra clip on the right side that wouldn't pop loose. I finally got it out, sure I was about to break it. When I pulled out the old cabin filter, it looked like the original that was installed at the factory (6+ years ago). I'd like to say it's the dirtiest filter I've ever seen but when I changed my wife's engine air filter on her 2002 Monte Carlo, it was completely black - in spite of her having the oil and filters changed at the dealership every 3,500 miles. Guess it was too hard for them to get the air intake apart.

  • @Computahguy

Great video! Sadly this is a prime example of today's engineering. You have a filter that needs to be replaced periodically, it should be in a place that is obvious and easy to access.

    • @betterdeadthanred839

Nah....this is just Ford engineering. Most of the barnds make this process fairly quick and simple. Only Ford makes you dismantle parts of yoir dash to get to the cabin filter.....Even Germans make this shit simple....if you look at all the space they have to make filter more accessible......
