I can’t tell if you are serious or not but if you are, you’re a fuckin muppet! This guy did the job in less than 8 minutes with literally 2 very common tools and filming at the same time. Even muppets should be able to get it done without issue. Just got to overcome that laziness and just do it.
@@logyz450 no, you know what I did ? I bought the 2021 limited !! So go change your air filter in your piece of shit old ass truck!!! You muppet! Whatever that is
Cool. I get these filters for 8 bucks and takes 5 min to replace. Always cross reference your filter # and you'll find a better price. Do not have the dealer change it.
Thanks! Some of those little white clips came off - hardest part was getting one that fell somewhere behind the glovebox. Lol. Thanks for the video. Gave me the confidence to buy a filter, a trim removal kit and do it. The $7 trim removal kit is useful for other things too - like cleaning along where the windows slide down into the doors, tucking some charging cables into the dash, etc. I also found that my Ford dealership’s last service broke one of the cabin air filter cover’s side locking tabs, and they didn’t put the cover’s bottom tabs into those little receiver slots to make it air tight. So - I used a tie wrap to secure the side with the broken locking tab, and put it all back how it should be. It definitely runs a little quieter now - with it all sealed up, and a new clean filter that’s letting air pass with less effort. Again thanks for the video!!
Thank you for taking the time to walk us through this. I find it annoying they made it such a pain to get to the filter. Guess this is how Ford makes all their money.
I just changed my cabin filter using this video as a guide. I was really surprised how much force it took to pull that plastic cover off. I was afraid I was going to break the plastic. I just don't understand why Ford would make it so tough to get off. I really appreciate the video. If I hadn't watched it, I wouldn't have had the confidence.
Recently took my ‘18 F150 Lariat 3.5 eco boost in for its oil change. They asked if I wanted to replace the air filters to the engine and cabin, I passed and came home and promptly ordered the needed filters on amazon. Glad I decided to check on YT for advice as after watching your video I got the job done without issue. It was similar to previous cars but with a few body panel steps I would of been apprehensive about doing without seeing how you did it first. Thanks 👍🏼
All kinds of stupid comments on this one. This is the correct way to do this. Yes, if you have small hands, you can squeeze the filter out without taking the top section off. And yes, if you want, you can probably leave the lower section in it's tracks. It's doubtful he has anything except the factory filter in there at 12k miles, so no, that's not charcoal. For those with trims below Lariat, the wood grain piece is black and it comes off with the first part he pulled away. For those with Lariat or higher, you can use a flat screwdriver wrapped in a thin rag. You don't need a trim tool. Best of luck on your filter change!
Good tips. I'm scared of pulling on plastic pieces the first time. I broken lots of little clips and stuff pulling incorrectly Edit I just checked mine. His instruction are great. The top plastic piece was stuck so tight. I wouldn't have got it off if I hadn't seen the video. I thought it was gonna break before it snapped out. It will probably be easier next time. My filter was full of crap. 16500 miles.
This guy did a great job, thanks for the video. Ford however, obviously designed this process to be way more complicated than needed, in order to make it more difficult than the average person wants to do, in order to be able to charge $100 for this $8 job. Crazy! For comparison, it literally takes longer for me to empty the contents of my glove box than it takes me to change the cabin filter on my other vehicle and no tools or risky trim removal is required. Pitiful!
Great video. I just changed out this filter on my fiancee's 2017 F150 using this video. The rubber piece on her truck was one piece so no need for the trim tool.
Thank you Sir for your very good explanation . I bought my truck in your store, and I need replace my cabin filter, thx again nad I shoot big LIKE ! I will follow you, greetings from Tonchy!😉 😊 😋 😎

Thanks for the video. I was able to replace my filthy filter in my F-150 in less than 10 minutes total. Definitely needed the trim tool and to pull harder than I expected You made it look too easy to pull of the dash cover to get to the filter cover underneath. Now I know.
A filter with some dirt does not necessarily need changed. It is doing its job. People kill me thinking their filter should look new clean all the time. I guess filter manufacturers love it. People throwing out good filters. It's only necessary to change when the dirt load restricts flow beyond acceptable limits.
Great video. HOWEVER, the step at 5:54 gave me a LOT of trouble. I found using the plastic pry tool to separate the clips along the bottom edge (you can see the 3 receiving slots below orange and white wires at 6:10) helped a lot. AND when you put it back together, MAKE SURE the rubber grommet on the back fits into the bare metal bracket to the left of filter box and right of the big white sticker. Otherwise your glove compartment door won't close properly. Hope this helps someone else!

Excellent video, thank you! It's funny too because your truck is identical to the 2017 lariat I just got. From the ruby red, black leather and the 502A package (with the awesome LED headlights).
Pretty much a piece of cake, thanks to your video! Very cool that you’re willing to help customers of yours to do it themselves, when you could make labor and mark up on this. I’ll bet you have repeat business! My local dealer in Jefferson City, MO seems competent on most things, but I can’t imagine them giving me this advice. I’m now doing the filters on our Exploder and 150, probably saving $70 per (though the dealer screwed up the right hinge on the explorer, and it was b!#@$& to get back on. Broke the circular part on the door, and broke the tab off on the pin. Just LOVELY!). Thanks again for your help, though. Thumbs up!!!!

No need for another video, just open your glove box and skip to 4:40 of the video. There is no need to remove your glove box as the filter is behind the trim piece above the glove box.
I was going to say that is stupid to be that hard to access a throw away filter. I am an hvac tech. I never put filters in plenums that require a customer to use tools or jump through hoops to change their filter.
Really $50 in labor and $50 for the filter. No need for the plastic tool. Be careful when removing the plastic arm (damper) on the glove box, there is a little white plastic gear that can fall out of the arm. Filter is $16.95 at the auto parts store and anyone that knows what a wrench is can do it in 15 minutes. save the $85 and take the family out for a steak dinner.
Thanks for the video! I have a question.... Does the airflow to the windshield defroster vents go through this filter too? I live in the U.P. Of michigan, and I imagine a lot of warm up and defrosting time, much less gas can be saved pushing warm air through a good clean filter rather than a 3/4 plugged filter while my truck is sitting idling in my driveway.
I have a 2018. I could tell right off your dash had been apart before because the left side of the plastic is deformed and sits down. Thats the danger of taking plastic apart too much. Then its very noticeable when put back together
Thanks for the heads up...My 60K Ram Larime didnt even have a filter...Im gonna check my XLT for one...hope its back there. Dumped the RAM after 72 K miles,,,electronic nightmare
Just replaced the filter on the new to me 2016. The previous owner did an excellent job of detailing the interior, but once I started pulling the cover panels loose it was obvious they had a dog. The filter was almost black and full of dog hair. Took me less than 30 minutes.
Thanks for the helpful video... the deanship was gonna charge me $60 for something I can do myself in just a few minutes. Wonder how much the filter costs..??
I just changed mine out today with a Purolator filter I bought at advanced auto for $14.99. I have a 16 model f150 , the part # for the purolator is C38214. Ford cabin filters are made by Purolator.
You would die changing this in Arizona summer. Imagine the ambient temp in summer being 105 at 7am. That's all I could think of watching him change it outside in the sun. Otherwise, excellent thanks!
I've had filter for my 2015 F150 Platinum, 24,000 miles, for over a year. Need to change it. Uh oh; from here it's real easy...right. "Easy if you know what you're doing..." To heck with it, I'm selling out and moving to a remote Pacific island. What's easier, to clean house, or just move?
Put everything back together now there is a bit of a gap when the glovebox is closed, has this happened to anyone else? Going to take it apart are make sure tabs are correct.
Video starts at 4:23. Your welcome.
MegaDee911 thanks
I hear ya. That was hard to watch. I was all over the double tap FF for this one.
If only I read this comment first lol thx though
You da man
Thank you my friend 😂
I have have the same truck, by watching this video I went and bought a cabin filter and changed it myself. It was easy. Thanks for posting this video.
That’s a real good spot to put an air filter so us ford owners can never change it 👏🏼👏🏼 thanks
Actually I found out about it from my neighbor changing his wife’s Jeep and it’s the same hassle . He had to remove a bunch of crap

Perfect and straight to the point. Less than 15 minute job.
Thank you so much for making this video. I could never have done the filter replacement on my 2017 F150 Lariat without it.
Thanks for the thorough guide - just did it myself in about 20 minutes :)
Holy crap, Ford made this unnecessarily hard.
Labor 1hr job 160dala at dealer pure profit is 120 dala )
Far easier than Chev
Worst is the ford escape its behind the gear shifter, you gotta peel back the carpet
Its two fucking screws...
Best video I’ve seen in changing the cabin filter. Thank you
Just changed the filter and saved $50. Thank you!!

We're glad it helped!
Great video, thanks! My filter was way nastier as I don't think it has ever been changed at 58k miles.
Took 10 mins with the help of this video. Thanks

Same for me, I was really ripping on it and was getting afraid I was going to break something
It’s hard to get off so it doesn’t rattle and fall off easily Some people are rough on trucks
To a tee it was spot on with how to do this. an amazing video.
This swap took 10 or less minutes!!!
Well Ford. You sure make that more complicated than need be!
Dale Allred complicated? GM takes more work than this lmfao. The easiest ones are toyota and dodges. Nissans are a pain in the ass
VW's are a piece of cake compared to the F-150, and the Germans love making simple things complicated.
IF YOU CAN'T DO THAT. YOU DON'T NEED TO TRY ANYTHING. JEEZ

Correction, did it’s job, the fact it has dirt on it says air flow is already being restricted

First time changing on a 2017. Actually never knew there was a slot on top for the owners manual!!!
Thanks so much. Took 10 min. Perfect instructions.
Go right to 3:23. that's where it really starts.

Perfect. First time and it was easy
Thanks for this! I saw another one that didn’t have the two screws
Awesome video and channel. I’m a new subscriber and fellow F150 owner. Thanks for the great tutorials.👍🏻
thanks for this. I suspected the filter was back there! Id imagine mine is pretty foul at 75,000ml...

The filter is dark because it is charcoal for removing odors as well as filter dirt. Your replacement was the cheaper version.
Ozzstar your wrong, they are ALL White when new.....
Very helpful. Thank you!
Thanks for the video
Great Information!!
Well done!
Thanks so much. Made it easy
Good information
Easy install; only addition is make sure the filter air flow is facing the right direction

I don't know why american cars manufacturers make everything so complicated, that's why toyota will be the best car to buy ever.
Great video.
Nice video!, i do the same, change the cabin filter, but the bad musty smell is persistent, any ideas how to fix it? is there a pre filter elsewhere?

I watched a couple of these and they didn’t mention anything about the direction of the filter.
