BRAVO, BRAVO, FINALLY THERE IS SOMEONE THAT KNOWS HOW TO EXPLAIN A REPAIR. I HAVE LISTENED TO LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF VIDEOS. YOU EXPLAINED THE PROCESS CLEARLY, CONCISE, AND STRAIGHT TO THE POINT. THE VIDEO WAS CLEAR, AND IT SHOWED ALL THE PROCESS WITHOUT GOING OUT OF FOCUS OR OFF INTO SPACE. THANKS FOR THE BEST VIDEO I HAVE SEEN TO THIS DATE.
This video was awesome! Made the process so simple and makes me question why my Ford dealership wanted over $300 to change the cabin and engine air filters. Literally took me less than 10 minutes for both and did it for $65 total by ordering from Amazon. Thanks so much!!
Boy, this made my life soooooooo much better. I inherited a truck at work, f550 and you can hear the vacuum being pulled at the filter. Was really worried it was one of them rip apart the dash ford's to get to it. This truck just got waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy better. Thank you very much.
Thanks for making a short to the point video on this I've been trying to find this filter on my truck for over a week and now I can get it changed quick and easy. Greatly appreciated sir.
Great tutorial on how to get this simple job done (despite Ford’s reputation for complicating a sunset). Glad I learned the tricks before diving into this seemingly simple job. Added bonus: you just gave me a great excuse to buy a set of Trim Removal tools. If she asks, pls tell my wife that this tool set is essential to completing this job….
Perfect video. It was short and to the point and worked as you described! I saved over $100 by not letting the dealer do it. The only thing is, why did the Ford engineer bury such a simple thing so deep in the dash? I bet the dealer will say it needs changing again the following oil change I go in for. TI'm sure they do not do all that in their routine checks during an oil change and just say it is needed.
Very good instructional process. Good pace. Not hurried. Not hyper. A note to DIY folks specifically in regards to this cabin air filter element. Please be advised. Use the OEM FORD MOTORCRAFT filter element. There are horror stories where a cheap aftermarket element was used, and structurally failed, and then got sucked/blown into the air conduits. Very difficult and expensive to remove failed element.
I have a 2019 F 250, everything is same as your video, I used a flat bar since I didn’t have a trim tool. Every thing went as you said, Piece of cake. Thanks
Thanks! Was able to pull plastic cabinet out without the trim tool, after lowering the glove box, removing the rubber grommet and the screws I reached behind it and pulled toward me and it popped out. Thanks for the informative video.
Thanks for the video. I would like to add that k&n sells a washable filter for this and fwiw I left those 7mm bolts out. Hasn't caused an issue and I can now pull the filter without any tools
Was ready to take my pick up to the dealer to have the air conditioner worked on and realized that it had sucked a napkin out of the glove box up and was restricting the airflow. Thank you.
I don’t know why Ford can’t make anything simple or convenient for us to get to. Every other vehicle out there you drop the glove box and the filter is right there. No other steps. The other thing that really pisses me off is they don’t put a wiper fluid reservoir on these that is a full gallon. So anytime you refill the wiper fluid you have a little bit left in the jug. It’s not like there isn’t space on this huge truck for 1 more pint of reservoir.
@mikeadams42 other pick up trucks are not like this. Maybe cars where there's not a lot of space. Ford makes everything difficult, they've been doing this for 30+ years.
Thanks your video showed me what I needed to get the filter cover back on correctly. Another one I started with did a poor job at this point. Now if I can just find my 7mm socket wrench😅
Ive always done it myself on customers vehicles when i clean them and they want a smokers smell to be gone so i just charge them whatever the new air filter costs so im curious what you had to pay to get this done lol?
Will air cabin filter effect heat? Heat won't come on in 2019 superduty F550. Checked fuses, relays and blend door. Any advice is appreciated, thanks in advance!!!
I would say somewhere around $15 - depending on how nice of one you want. If you are trying to get rid of any odors I would recommend spending a little bit more to get a charcoal or carbon activated filter
Which way is the air flow? The fan seems to be under the filter, so I assume the air is flowing in from underneath the filter and leaving out the top. I ask because the filter has arrows, showing the direction of the air flow. Also, how do the flaps (lips) need to be oriented? I assume down, against the air flow to create a seal.
Pleased to find this video. My 2012 f-250 required the dash to be removed. I would love to have been able to post the picture of what the coil looked like after 5 years of hauling a long haired GSD around in this truck.
We have 2013 F250s at work, both of them are clogged up with dirt and don’t blow air, we replaced one condesor for 1300$ and they don’t want to do the other one.. I feel bad for the guy in that truck
My airflow is very low in my 2020 f550, the air is cold and the fan seems to be fine, just hardly any airflow volume. Do you think it might be this filter?
replacing the cabin filter definitely can help with the air flow but if your air is not really blowing at all you may have other issues. If the cabin filer has not been replaced recently that would be a good place to start
@@PYR-Auto so, last night, i pulled it out, didnt look super bad, took me 5 mins with a very good air compressor to get all the dust out. Reinstalled it, night and day difference. Have a new one showing up today that I will be installing as soon as it arrives, also ordered a spare. Thanks.
The fun part is when the manufacturer cuts the wires to short so you can't pull the box out or at times can't move it at all. Snapped a few wires on those. Hope the customer never wants to lock that red thing or a glove light. Blame the manufacturer not me. I did what I had to
@@PYR-Auto that help me so much! Did the job in about 5 min if I didn’t have your video it would of taken me at least 30 min sooooooo again thanks so much 🙏
Well done. Others should watch this to see what a good video looks like. Well exposed, well shot, clear, straight to the point and concise.

Thanks a lot for your video, I like how you get to the point and don't tell stories about your life etc like other people do. Great job man.

The air flow pointing down, got it. Awesome video thanks

Great video! Need that trim tool, i did it without it but it was much harder!
Yeah, it does make it much easier
Awesome video. Quick and no fluff
Thanks!
Why use 2 copper colored 7mm screws to hold that trim piece on?
One of my clips is messed up or something, having trouble getting glove box to latch after installing new filter.
Will air cabin filter effect heat? Heat won't come on in 2019 superduty F550. Checked fuses, relays and blend door. Any advice is appreciated, thanks in advance!!!
No - a dirty cabin air filter will not prevent the heat from working.
Excellent vid! Got me out of a bind, thanks!
You're welcome! Glad it helped
Perfect! Thank you. Now to find that filter from K and N.
I prefer the charcoal enhanced filter to filter out odors as well as other things.

Wow! A rodent died in my work truck and I’m pretty sure it’s next to the air filter! Thanks for making this video
You're Welcome! Hope it helps - mice nests can be a pain
Do these filters clog easily to where it has weak air flow or would that be the evaporator clogged with dirt?
If your cabin filter is very dirty it can restrict the air flow a bit
@@PYR-Auto I cleaned the cabin air filter. Idk why I never thought to clean it 🤣 lol it’s good with AC now 2 months late into the heat
Same procedure for 2017 F450 chassis ? Thanks.
yes I believe so
Great video! Exactly what I needed to change my filter!
Glad it helped!
I need to start doing this myself. Can you give a typical price for one of these filters if ordering online?
I would say somewhere around $15 - depending on how nice of one you want. If you are trying to get rid of any odors I would recommend spending a little bit more to get a charcoal or carbon activated filter

The airflow arrow needs to point down, towards the floor

Great content, straight to the point

Where did you get that plastic tool for separating the last plastic panel? My luck I’ll rip that frigger off lol
It’s referred to as a trim tool - most places that sell tools carry them,
Otherwise the can be found on Amazon

would this be the same on a 2001 ford f350 superduty thanks for your help
No, this would not be the same. I believe a 2001 F350 did not come with a factory cabin filter.
