    A better video would be a 'living with an american pickup in the uk' and you can show how hard it is to live with these like driving in the city, driving on country roads, taking it into a car park or a multi floor car park, trying to get it into a car wash, driving through central London or going through a mcdonalds drive through etc also could try filling up an entire tank of fuel and see how much that would be or do a MPG test to see if you can genuinely live with one or not as I am actually considering an American pickup to own in the UK and this would be an informative video as well as an entertaining video as american viewers can laugh at us

      Don't forget torque

  • @never2late454
    @never2late454 2 года назад +26

    As a truck owner it's all about weight and traction. Torque comes into play once you can get the traction but if you don't have the weight in the bed your never going to get enough grip to get the full potential of the available torque.

    • @thedebatemechannel4746
      @thedebatemechannel4746 Месяц назад

      Not just wait but also tires. I don't care how heavy you are if you have horrible tires you're not going anywhere. The thing the weight does is push the tires down into the ground to make them do their thing but if the tires are weak putting my weight on it isn't going to do anything.

    • @thedebatemechannel4746
      @thedebatemechannel4746 Месяц назад

      For example if they were to develop some super sticky tires that have let's say 100 times the grip of any tire we have now a 3000 lb truck could easily pull a big heavy duty truck with way more power because the truck with these crazy tires will be able to use every single bit of its power while the big heavy duty truck is only going to be able to use part of its power and if it's slippery it might be half of its power or less.

    @M3dicayne 2 года назад +32

    I must say, I do not think it is the almost 1,5kNm of torque, but the heavier vehicle that made it possible to tug the Ford that easily. Torque would usually just spin the wheels, except when you have immensely more grip (due to weight). But this is also due to the characteristic of a Diesel engine being able to pull at low rpms. The V6 has to have a much higher rpm to generate torque which subsequently results in an easier loss of grip.

    • @Smoke---
      @Smoke--- 2 года назад +2

      I might be wrong, but I don’t think that’s how it works, because of the transmission. The transmission makes it so that even revving at 5000 in the gas truck, your wheels can be moving at the same speed as the diesel truck revving at 1500

    • @rogerpowers3891
      @rogerpowers3891 Год назад

      The weight of the vehicle is what allows you to reach the potential of whatever torque your truck has available. So you're right, more right means more traction and therefore more torque is available to use.

      I own an 2024 F450 and the Ram would probably win based solely on tires (there isn't a lot of tire selection for 19.5" wheels). Do the same test on asphalt and the F450 would easily drag the Ram 3500. The Ram 3500 is an SRW, is lighter (my F450 weights 9,275 lbs empty) and has a engine torque output and gearing disadvantage.

I would put my Cummins ISB powered Ram 2500 against a TRX any day on any surface (I have front and rear locking diffs). The only thing that the TRX does better is acceleration and stopping when not towing. We even have the same amount of peak torque (650 lb ft), but I'm going to have that torque number over a much wider rev range and I'm not running a 3.55 final drive (4.56 which equates to about 4.24 given 37" tires vs TRX on 35s).

    The issue is you have a fast off-road truck in the Raptor, a plain jane Chevy Silverado and a Dodge diesel heavy duty truck, they all do different things well. For the Dodge you would have to pull against a Powerstroke and a Duramax, for the Chevy you would pull against an F150 and Ram 1500 and for the Raptor you would have to pull against a T-Rex, there is no Chevrolet analogue.

    What you Brits don't know about truck pulling in mud is keeping the tyre tread cleaned out with wheel speed. That Z-71 can yank that Raptor all over the place, but YOU didn't clean the tread out by feathering the throttle. And honestly, if me and you hooked up with that diesel and me in that Z-71, and you drove it the way you did in the video, you'd get dragged by a half ton. Also, unless you dump 40 grand into that Cummins, you can't smack the throttle like you can on a gasser to keep the tread cleared out.
