- This Video explains the full story behind the downfall of Chief Bitores Mendez and the Village. Where we explain how this process went about, covering the manipulation of Father Mendez by Osmund Saddler, converting him into a devout member of the Los Illuminados and help spread the Las Plagas Parasite with the rest of the Village population.
We also cover this storyline in a narrative format, where we retell the story from one of the Villager's point of view, who was known as Rodrigo. Here he tells how this once peaceful Village changed into madness. Giving us many details that caused this once happy Village community into the many Ganados we see in resident evil 4 and resident evil 4 remake.
This story mainly covers the events prior to Leon Kennedy's mission in re4, as he tries to locate the U.S. President's missing daughter Ashley Graham, and in the process he has to face many ganados infected with the las plagas and then eventually Chief Mendez or also known as the bug Cheese, as stated by Luis Sera.
We also cover many files that tells of the conspiracies at play, where Chief Mendez had a suspicion of a third party infiltrator, this being Ada Wong, and the the los illuminados and Lord Osmund Saddler were to deal with this situation.

I really hope the remake sheds more light to the tragedy of the Villagers, maybe even show a few pieces of artwork showing how things were before Saddler showed up. Edit: Completely forgot the OG credits did that lmao.
Well the credits scene in RE4 kinda did that
the credits:
the remake im happy to say sort of does that, after you beat the game the main menu screen changes and now you see a looping rotation of the village in the opening chapter but now with no ganados/enemies - most likely because of the grip via the plagas and saddler being removed by leon and therefore they probably died without a host. there isnt exactly the same showcase of life before and of the village when they weren't taken over but it does hit the same tragic side of things were it shows life at its most simple and natural state and allows things to be bittersweet. Leon succeeded even if he couldn't save all the villagers "save 1 life, doom a 100", but he did save ashley and stop anybody else including the world at large from falling to the plagas and los illuminados. While the village is now empty, the memory of the village and their lives before they were taken advantage of has returned and can stay forever without being ruined again. It's quite dreamlike, a stark contrast to the nightmare of the previous raccoon city incident and that things can change for the better if people like Leon keep fighting. The village as in the buildings, the wandering chickens and wind howling among the empty wooden structures and paths remain but now they are left to rest, finally given the peace they deserved all along after suffering from being infected by the plagas and be forced to become zombies under an evil like saddler. Raccoon City had to be destroyed, but the small village can stay and be brought back into the hands of the innocent lives that inhabited it just before, able to be remembered now for their simple lives and families instead of the horrible traumatic world they were forced to endure until Leon arrived.

The credits are pretty decent. The music is sad and shows village shots, then when Saddler starts showing up in the pics the music goes creepy.
I love Bitores Mendez. A truly under-rated but intimidating and formidable villain.

The end credits sequence showing the village in happy, peaceful times, with children playing, etc., always made me sad, knowing the evil that would befall them. I'm glad that was preserved in the remake.
Unfortunately, Valdelobos will never return to that, but at least the player can take solace knowing they've avenged those poor people.
It really is sad knowing you have to destroy them because it is not their fault.
5:30 The bit where Rodrigo mentions his friend becoming Salazar's excavator was the beginning of the end of the village's happy times.
Yeah it's sad that these things were concurrently happening. I really hope they explore this lore in Resident Evil 4 Remake, maybe giving us a flashback cutscene prior to Leon arriving at the Village

you know in the remake i found this journal left behind by a miner. He was pissed about having to do mine work on his daughters birthday starts feeling sick saying i'm sorry, i wish i'd been a better dad. The next page was him saying how great saddler is.
Nice to hear the story from Rodrigo's point of view. And it's so sad what happened to those innocent villagers. To be honest I didn't even know there was someone named Rodrigo in Resident Evil 4. I only know Rodrigo from Resident Evil Code Veronica.
Yeah it's a great story prior to Leon's mission and it's great to see what really happened and how things came crashing down for the Villagers

Bitores Mendez is one of my favorite Resident evil villains. He's underrated, intimidating, and menacing. I hope he's as hard hitting and memorable in the remake as he was in the original to me.

I think it would be cool to get a villager demo like the Maiden demo we got for RE8. Just a little something showing how the village and the villagers became infected with Las Plagas.

When I first passed the original RE4. I felt grief seeing the villagers before their downfall. They were so happy. The song during roll credits made it even painful 😢
Yes I hope they still carry the same terrified aura that he had in the original game in the in this remake. I would like to see a expand on his background or a flashback to see if he was immediately on board with the cult or against it. Cause he does have a nonchalant attitude and just seems to follow the wave of what's best for his people as the village chief I wonder what he would had said about Ramon if that hmmmm wasn't there I can't wait

I feel like the one thing that was heavily removed from RE2 Remake was all the diaries and memos. We got some, but not nearly as much as in the original. I hope that’s not case for RE4 Remake. I hope we get lots of notes, diaries and memos that build on the lore.
Yes I hope that they give us a lot of these files to delve into. It's very interesting to see how some of the characters reacted to the events around them

I feel little sorry for Bitores Mendez how his good intentions could go so horribly wrong. But I'm sure he justify his actions saying I'm doing it all for the Village.
I do hope they explore his character more in RE4 Remake and give us more context to his background story

Yeah I've heard of that as well and I would gladly welcome that, I could see him as the Tyrant that follows you around the Village and we have to use the stealth mechanic to preserve ammo and keep to keep the big cheese off our tail

RE 4 is really a cautionary tale about the dangers of having too much Faith in Faith & blindly following one person.
Re4 is about the anti christ persecuting and executing believers of the true word of God and not following the new (woke) religion of the Las Plagas.
Tragedy to the villagers shoot might as well tell us was saddler at any point in the re village. Because that parasite had some similar patterns like the last plagas. Was saddler alive when the los illuminados all died, or did someone more mad, tbh I wanna see the lore in this game.

He should be a villain that is searching for you throughout the village like Mr X or Nemesis. That would be awesome and you would have to be forced to go stealth and conserve ammo. Technically they could also do this with Dr Salvador but on a lower tier. Good job on the vid Devuh.

Their downfall was kidnapping ashley and thus having Leon arrive on the scene to open a can of whoop ass on errrrbody!
So the story of the village in 4 never quite sat right with me because of how hard it is for just one person to give up on their religion, there would have had to be some massive event to change the whole village or even to change enough of the villages to start turning the rest of them, by even I’m talking a few years of famine or droughts maybe a sighting of some kind that they could misunderstand as a message from their god.
The village from 4 would have made far more sense if it was the situation from outlast 2 (basically a cult formed the police raided the place the cult was staying in a mapped city so they then went out into the middle of nowhere and built the town/village/settlement we see from outlast 2) as is they had way too much money, resources and manpower for what we see I mean if there was something else behind the cult (so you had the village that’s a front for the castle that’s a front for the cult that’s a front for whatever shadowie organisation that’s running it all from behind he scene, if that’s the actual story of RE4 then I somehow missed the last part)
I do wonder if Fr. Mendez actually was swayed by Sadler...or if some sort of mind control or brainwashing was involved. Otherwise, it's pretty weird.
I would say he was swayed, in one of the documents it mentions that those infected with the plaga still need to have a strong conviction of the beliefs of the organization if not then they will turn out just like Luis Sera and go against their plans

Manipulation plain and simple. Saddler knew that a devout, pious religious man such as Mendez could easily be swayed and manipulated simply by saying what he wanted to hear. Saddler would have told Mendez under false pretences obviously that "God" spoke to Saddler and made him a prophet of the faith and that Mendez was "chosen" to help resurrect the religion. Once Mendez was wrapped around Saddlers thumb he knew that the villagers would easily be convinced as they respected and revered Mendez immensely.

The scariest & saddest thing about this is that stuff like this has happened in real life to innocent people who were manipulated by evil zealots with their insane dogmatic rhetoric, and will most likely unfortunately continue to happen in the future as well.
I guess children can’t handle the plagas? That makes sense but is very sad.
Now if only they'd remake, or better yet, rewrite/redo re 5 and 6 so that they were more survival horror instead of rediculous action. Bolder punching, I'm looking at you.

Silent Hill was not always the quiet and dream world horror we know .
in fact the town was full of life once people were nice friendly and very welcoming towards each other before cult groups came they moved right into the town conducting rituals opening doors to other worlds they believed only the worthy can exist in a paradise for all of those worshiping some God .
Racoon City might be gone however the monsters created are still in a large population the remaining Stars fight to release a cure and help bring the human race back again .

One of the most wasted and disappointing things about Bitores Mendez in original RE4 that Appeared prominently in much of the ad materials, and posters of resident evil 4 implying he was the main antagonist (when it actually was his boss Osmund Saddler the mastermind behind the storyline) or major or recurring antagonist or at least someone that is important to main game when in reality he was just a Starter Villain who's killed barely a quarter of the way into the game in fact he unimportant in main storyline having the least onscreen presence compared to Jack Krauser Ramon Salazar and Osmund Saddler also unlike them he has the least amount of dialogue having only line He only speaks once in the entire game, to foreshadow Leon's status as a Plaga host, but otherwise settles for quietly glaring and grunting and also out of all major antagonists in RE4 he also one that Leon has nether conversation speaking nor dialogue with whatsoever to me Bitores Mendez is what I call they wasted perfectly good character and antagonist
Hopefully, they’ll give him more material in the remake.

YAS YAS AND YASSS , I SAID IT AND WILL DAY IT AGAIN RE4 was and will forever be the top of all resident evils , every from gameplay , graphics , Leon fucking kennedy , and every detail , i replay it feom time to time for the nostalgia but bc it kina never fail to make me feel the absolute blast of experience that the game is and the iconic "hello stranger" , i played resident evil 7 the village and lets be honest lady d wasthe only cool part of the game , other than that the game was just not that impressive or iconic , and the new ROSE DLC omg a disaster they went for "stranger things" style and it showed that they are just making the re game onwards whith 0 GOALS , SINCERELY i wish they go back to re4 and make a continuation or a spin off , idk i just feel like re4 shouldnt die , omg the cult mixed with government plotting , crazy scientists , spy ada , abandonned village , people slowly turning into zombies theough the game , how you need TO SAVE US OR YOU LOOSE YOUR PROGRESS , everything is just so well done , although i regretted how the game ended quickly and abruptly in my opinion but hey they made such a cool job and idk if i were the only person in Luv with ADA AND the fact that they let us play with her and gosh the mini figures you collect as achievement , the mini games , i mean i could make even longer comment it wont ever give justice to re4 on ps2 and xbox and pc ofc , it was perfect.
