In a Scale of 1-10, how Evil was Chief Irons? Also which version was better, the original RE2 or in RE2 Remake?
He was around an 8. The fact he was a corrupt cop with a high rank makes him dangerous. Also a major perv, his interest in Sherry and what he was going to do with the Mayor's daughter's corpse are disturbing to say the least.
Chief irons was just a sick individual and it's his fault that the RPD fell down and got all the officers killed
He's a 10 for sure. Both versions are great but remake was able to show the creepier side of him.....would love to see a video on Annette Birkin!
dudes a monster AND hes fugly lmfao 11/10
10, a sadistic pervert who enjoy torturing people is evil in my eye
The scariest thing about Brian Irons is people like him do actually exist in real life.
Such as All US President since JFK, All US Cops are alike Chef Irons
@@nintendogamingchannel1007 you're a bit delusional aren't you
Like a lot of antagonists in RE, people can be power hungry; though they may not be supernatural or genetically modified. Yes, people like Brian Irons do exist, I think of Ed Gein for some reason.
Yeah sadly they’re all over the place too. There’s a chance that we’ve run into a few of them a couple times already. Dark stuff like that just saddens me man
@@andrewmcbridemusic
No
Warcriminals remind me of Bran such George Bush Jr, Obama, Trump, Biden
While Albert Wesker is remembered for betraying the STARS team, Chief Brian Irons basically betrayed the entire RPD by turning a blind eye to Umbrella's activities and literally hunting down his fellow officers once the outbreak really kicked into high gear. And, yes, he is arguably the most realistic villain in RE history because people like him definitely exist.
Also Irons took bribes from umbrella, which is unlawful
Chief Irons scares me way more than any viral or parasitic monster. Maybe because evil humans like Irons really exist, unlike the creatures.
Exactly, he was truly vile
Evil is subjective. I like to think of it as just disgusting and pathetic. Not everything is black or white. Sometimes it's grey or even transparent. I don't know what I'm really talking about so I'm done
A real sugar daddy for you Crissy ;)
The RE2 remake version got what he deserved, it was awesome. The version of him in the original game was still evil, but he wasn't quite as vile...perhaps because of the way the game was presented and the voice acting.
Hell yeah one of my criminal justice teachers was a former assistant police chief. Robert Dunlap and man did he give of psychopathic vibes. He was a manipulative narcissist who Nobody liked or trusted. Found out he had his old girlfriend stalked by officers under him.
While Brian Irons has been a sadistic, twisted, all-around awful human being since the original, I think they somehow managed to make it even worse in Resident Evil 3 remake but I think not many people may have noticed.. when you go in the hospital and find some message logs you read an invitation to Dr. Nathaniel Baird to some event, and the author of the note also mentions an "after-party" and that he believes Baird prefers brunettes and that he'll "let Irons know". Thing is, why does an all-powerful conglomerate of corrupted people need to ask the chief of police for escorts? Oh but we know Irons runs the city orphanage and he was acting very creepy with Sherry. And suddenly it makes horrifying sense why they'd have to ask Irons for some brunettes.
Wait OH SHIT NO-
So..he's not only a psychotic sadists since birth, but also a pedo? Even Wesker hasn't stooped this low.
I hoped Irons and Baird suffered greatly now
Wait.... Nathaniel B?
Nvm, the guy changed their name so the joke doesn't work anymore.
Aw what the shit?!
In the Original, he was charming and subtle and at least attempted to hide his true colors after you went and then returned.
But in the Remake, he's a straight flat out Villain.
Basically, in the original he was acting like a real psycho would. Many real life serial killers seemed charming good guys to their victims before "unleashing the beast"
EDIT: That's why I vastly prefer him in the original
@@ocdman3910
Exactly.
@@ocdman3910 in original when he spun around pointing a gun before saying "Oh I'm sorry I thought you were one of those zombies" I immediately thought "why do I have the feeling this guy is more disturbing then meets the eye?" I was right prefer his original because there was at least SOME hidden hints instead in the remake just straight up holds claire at gunpoint and boom immediate revelation not slowly just quick straight to the point
@@waragon4737 yeah, precisely! I absolutely agree with you!
I too prefer him in the original. He was a man that had been let down after being caught up in something he knew he shouldn't have been and was seeking his own retribution and lashing out at everyone... Undermined, cut out and feeling undone.
In the remake it's just too dumbed-down. Bad guy does bad things because he's bad. Wasn't a fan.
Another point to note is that Irons seems to be the one who locked up a bunch of officers in the attic in the station and threatened them with the C4.
Once Raccoon City was lost, Umbrella had no further use of Irons. They were going to kill him anyway. Irons was killed by those he trusted. He was killed and died like a pathetic animal.
2:45 He probably did it not only to stop STARS from finding out he was being bribed by Umbrella but also to stop them discovering his sick killing and stuffing women "hobby."
My thing is how did he get away with getting a hold of the Mayors daughter of everyone? I'm not entirely sure what happened to the mayor either
@@thefitgamerdad The mayor left the city, abandoning his own daughter. Irons probably took advantage of the chaos happening in Raccoon City to hunt down, kidnap and kill Katherine.
@@Xehanort10 that’s a very chilling thought. I could only imagine he lured her in with some false sense of security and pounced when she was alone. Freaking scary
I feel so bad for the Mayor's daughter, her father abandoned her and she was murdered by the chief of police
I do like how they made chief irons more of a villain in the remake than he was in the original
Yes I agree, I like both version but the Remake did highlight his character more.
Meh, he's not that creepier in the remake, he's more of an annoyance (annoying old man getting in your way by being hostile from the moment you meet him) at first. Nothing to do with the delirious psycho he was in the original, no charm or subtlety at all
@@ocdman3910
Yeah, they struggle to write good bad guys now days. Once in a while they’ll get it. But usually its good guy vs typical evil bad guy. No subtlety or build up.
@@ocdman3910 The guy runs an orphanage only to sell the kids as experiment samples, and it's implied he sells then for other reasons. if that doesn't shout "psycho" or "creepy" then I don't know what does
@@ennieminymoo6675 child trafficking makes you a first class asshole and one of the worst human beings on the face of the earth deserving all the hate that you get, but it doesn't send that many chills down your spine...we don't get to see the results of the experiments the children were subjected to and the chief isn't even present when the experiments took place, he only coordinated the "adoptions" and the disposal of the bodies not for a personal pleasure, but simply because Umbrella paid him a lot of money.
On the other hand, someone who openly says in his diary how much he enjoyed shooting and staring at one of his former subordinates as he drowned in his own blood and how he's gonna give a little head start to the mayor's daughter so that it will be much more fun to hunt her down definitely makes this person sound way creepier and more deranged
Out of all the villains in the Resident Evil series, police chief Brian Irons Is my favorite villain of them all, you have done an excellent video on Brian Irons and I really appreciate it, thank you HeY DeVuH I look forward to your next villain ✌️
Lol prolly the most boring villain
In the REmake Chief Irons was more open about his psychopathic tendencies giving him more of a sociopath personality. But in the original however his portrayal was more soft spoken and sneaky and you as the player are left suspicious about him because of how creepy he is. in the original, it was subtly implied he was a psychopath while in the remake he just shows up out of nowhere and starts threatening to kill Claire in front of Sherry if she doesn't do what he says. The 1998 version of Chief Irons was a little more of a mystery which builds up suspense for not just the player but for Claire as well and that was more creeper because right away you didn't know what his intentions are and imagine the psychology of what Claire was going through after she met him asking herself "Hmm should I trust him, or do I have my doubts about Chief Irons? " Especially after seeing the corpse of the mayors daughter laid out on his office desk. You could take a hint at what he was about to do that poor girl when he casually says "And to think taxidermy used to be my hobby, but no longer! "
Wonder what would happened if Leon saw the real Chief Irons?
I think he would have been shocked. A small hint to this was his disbelief when Ben mentioned Chief Irons to be corrupt but at first was very hesitant to believe.
Irons probably would’ve just shot him lol
I have watched everysingle one of ur videos, keep it up brother. Ur a bless to resident evil fans 💜💜
Thank you so much!!!
I honestly had a hard time with this character's design. He looks eerily close to my biological father who was abusive
I kind of wonder what if Irons wasn’t chief of police and instead it was someone who wouldn’t take umbrella’s bribes nor could they remove him before the outbreak. What would have happened and would things have turned out differently?
The RPD would have been able to defend itself which in doing so would also be able to send for help outside the City, Possibly exposing Umbrella sooner and saving many more lives
The scariest part of irons is he represents the side of all of us which we suppress and dent exist in our hearts yet relate to so deeply because it is that which we all desire the most.
He is scary because it is familiar. He js who we are if we all got exactly what we wished for…..

@@HeYDeVuH 🙂👍
It's kind of crazy, I thought he was trying to kill the survivors for umbrella.
I didn’t think remake Irons was nearly as terrifying as the original Irons. The chase sequence with Sherry was great but would’ve been better if there had been more emphasis on what a monster he truly was. Feels like the remake only showed hints of this as opposed to fully developing his sociopathic nature like the original.
I can't take original Irons seriously with that voice, he sounds so cartoonishly evil. I think his original files match more with remake Irons who is way more unhinged.
He has the body of the mayor’s daughter in his living room. What else do you want?
@@bandigustin1038 Having him try and pass himself off as normal while having her body sprawled out on his desk was far more disturbing. Especially since you hear her being killed moments before first meeting him. There are so many great details left out like Irons hunting down all remaining survivors for sport including the girl he was entrusted to protect.
I enjoy RE2R alot but sorry it wasn’t a masterpiece.
@@mtb5431 totally agree!
He was quite "sanitized" in the remake, showing just hints of his madness, in the original though he was a real psycho
I just saw Hitchcock's "Psycho" for the very fist time this weekend, and I see a lot of parallels between Brian Irons and Norman Bates!
Yeah both were crazy in their own way
*Brian Irons reminds me of the Governor by TWD Comics*
At least In the movie Chief Irons wasn't that much of a traitor he was more like a survivor list by using coward tactics and ended getting killed by a licker.
Hey can you do one on Dr. Marcus because I don't know much about his lore and I'd be interested to hear your take on it. Great video btw!!!🤗
Yes and Thank You Very very much!!!
It's really impressive how, despite different continuities with regards to the cutscenes themselves, you can easily combine both the original and remake versions into a consistent character arc.
Just when I thought Nikolai was the most evil since He betrayed and killed all the remaining Supervisors that survived just to steals their data in exchange for more money
With the way things are going now, pretty sure you could walk into any police station and find a chief Irons.
Yeah especially with the politics that run within a police station. That's why I quit law enforcement years ago. They do a lot of shady things in the organization sometimes.
@@thefitgamerdad how bad is it in corrections? My sister found a good looking opportunity, but I'm worried things are a little too suspicious in there. And I'm not talking about the inmates...
@@Akaritomi it’s just as bad as other agencies so I hear. I never worked in corrections, but I’ve heard many stories from my coworkers who used to work in corrections. It’s definitely a place for people with thick skin. Not all corrections departments will be the same though. As long as she has common sense she should be fine. Generally they look out for one another.
@@thefitgamerdad Politics are everywhere. Also you’re overreacting. PDs definitely aren’t as corrupt compared to before. Not even close. Just like how crime is much lower now than back in the 90s
10! I still think the original Iron was best. He made RE2 very popular! For his S.T.A.R.S. team come from a crazy insane mansion and they all in his office yelling at him that Umbrella and Wesker was all behind making people and dogs monsters. He suspend them! Chief Iron is so cold hearted but made RE2 Game of the Year. Thank you, Chief Iron!
Yes both versions were great. He truly was a menace and he was just sick on the way he handled things while being Police Chief. Anyway thank you for watching!!!
I think it’s true that he is a “realistic” villain to a degree, but usually you don’t get the whole package like this in real life.
It seems like a bit of a stretch that he’d be able to get away with not only bribery, but serial killing, sexual assault, and other corrupt activity. The guy had to have enemies as a public figure and it’s hard to imagine nobody would have taken him down if he were a police chief in real life in the U.S. in 1998.
He definitely shares elements of a creepy, gross, corrupt old man that you also see in real life though.
I 100% remember the document saying he was accused of sexual assault or similar wording and 1998 me saying what the f*ck is this game about?!
I know right, Chief Irons was definitely a true Sicko
Right! Now whoever was involved in that Resident Evil "adaptation" can watch this and no how Irons was supposed to be like. Smh. Man they messed up the characters..
I was sad to watch that Movie and seeing what they've done to some of out favorite Characters
Adaptation- : the act or process of changing to better suit a situation.
It was never gonna be exactly what we wanted as fans. They never promised it would be. Ill never understand why people get so bent out of shape about interpretations of art. If im wrong correct me but they never said they were gonna shoot straight close to the source material. Especially in terms of casting. And even tho they squeezed a LOT of lore into the film, its not the worst resident evil film on the market
@@covrtni6051 Indeed, which is precisely why the movie doesn't work. There "adaptation" didnt make anything better. It only took what was already great and made it worse. The reason fans are bent out of shape is 1. If you're tryin to appease to new comers, them just write your own stuff. That's whats wrong with the movie industry today and it comes off as more of a cash grab. And 2, because this was supposed to be years in the making. They had already botched RE with all the other bad movies and some would argue bad games, that fans of the game finally deserved to be giving a faithful version of the story.
While this had maybe a couple redeeming qualities, taking lore and just sticking them in random places were not one of them. And the actors the choose would be alright if they embodied the spirit of the characters they were supposed to portray. They did none of that, more over they casted characters that already had the look of other characters within the franchise. If you think this movie is better than the other RE titles, hey that's your opinion. But throwing a bunch of references in my face and the story and characters not being down the right way, not THEY'RE way, is not my forte.
As i said, they wanna make they're own thing, have at it. But i and other fans of the franchise deserved better. And if they wanted bigger bang for their buck, which obviously they didnt make much back, they should've stuck with story and as you said not try to cram so much in the movie. And hey if you need more clarity, look no further then the video you clicked on. Most people would agree, they've messed the story up enough, isn't it time they actually make it right? Chief Irons was a menace, but in the movie he's portrayed completely different. As well as most other characters. Hell, give it to actually fans of the franchise, i can name about 6 RE channels that wouldve delivered. Sorry so long.
@@anthonysloan2620 i think the major part you and so many others are missing about the whole “adaptation” concept is that its being made better by the creators’ point of view. In a perfect world, they care about what we want but they dont and they dont have to. I dont think its worth all the hooplah. And i almost hate to be that guy but if you want that great resident evil movie…then make it yourself. Its pretty clear that the movie makers arent gonna deliver any time soon. With all that being said i think it should have been a straight to netflif series tellinh the stories of each game over seasons.
@@covrtni6051 Yeah that argument is kinda poor. The major part you are missing is that the movie just isnt good. And in a perfect world. Like say for instance the world of whoever cares enough to do it right, which hey we do live in that world, cuz people do care about fans of a franchise. Ask anyone who just watched the new Spiderman no way home. Great movie btw. Then we wouldn't be having this discussion. The fact that we have to worry about companies doing it right or doing they're own thing for the sake of money and just slapping a title everyone knows on it, or in this case a whole cosplay felt movie, is what's wrong with hollywood in the first place. And the reason those companies don't make their money back. Facts are just facts when it comes to money. But when it comes to a franchise people love, and i can treat an adaptation on a case by case basis, but after 15 yrs as i said pf already bad RE movies, you gotta admit the fans deserved better on this one. Well i guess you don't have to.
But you're right on one thing, it definitely should've been a series. Not sure how it would've done. But aye as one of the people you are referring too as someone who didn't like the movie, im just trying to tell you why. Take that as you must, your opinion is your opinion. And if you like the movie hey cool. But it didnt do well for a reason. Im just telling you why. Cuz if im tripping, then they should have no problem making their budget back. Hey Merry Christmas to you as well.
Merry Christmas HD 💙🎄
Merry Christmas!!!
After I beat the orphanage and had to return to the RPD, I straight-up apologized to Mr. X since he wasn’t as bad as this guy.
Imagine Irons kidnapping Claire to stuff her like he did with Katherine. I assume chloroform would be required to put Claire to rest as well.
Yeah he was a sicko
If RE2 were made into a CGI that would definitely happen cuz Capcom treats Claire like she’s helpless now.
@@mtb5431 Not in Revelations 2 they don't at least.
@@wickdaline8668 I was just sore with how useless they made her in Infinite Darkness. Maybe it’s just the CGI’s cuz Rebecca was similarly wasted in Vendetta.
@@mtb5431 Fair enough. But since Infinite Darkness is before Rev2, that's just how I'm letting it slide.
I’m sure someone’s mentioned it before or I haven’t reached that point into the video . But originally irons was supposed to be a good guy, before they took a different direction and made him the weird psychopath killer that he is in the finished product/story they didn’t like it at first but through more development and story/script progression they decided to stick with it
Chief Irons was far more evil in the original, because he comes off way more sophisticated and charismatic
Chef irons"ok....I think I may have fucked up here"
William Berkin saves Claire from chief irons
I hate how he was sort of a good guy in the welcome to racoon city movie
A lot of things were screwed in that movie.
Irons portrayal was handled far better in the original than in the the remake. is subtle insanity was so much better than his over the top evil in the remake.
Plus his deaths in the original were more deservingly more gory than the remake's watered down version where he wasn't torn in half at all.
@@kingbeef66 Agreed! The payoff was more satisfying.
I just now found myself wondering if the death of the Blue Umbrella soldier by the hands of the “Swamp Man” might have been an indirect reference to how the original Irons met his end. Both got attacked by a BOW off screen only to pop back up legless and dead.
Thanks for explaining him. I would watch gameplay and be confused on why he was there. He just came off as an a**hole and seem to appear out of no where.
You're very welcome, In Resident evil, the lore is always behind the files that scattered throughout the game so it may be hard to follow the storyline behind some of these characters
@Tashiba Lampkin Especially true in the case of the remake, my dude
O. M. F. G....where did that image at 1:39 come from 😱😱
Truly amazing how you're doing this! Much appreciated 🙏 I love resident evil 😈 ❤ keep up the good work!
You're Very Very Welcome!!!
Where did you get that image of the stars team after they escaped the mansion? I’ve never seen it before.
It was a prelude image that was substituted from the original RE3.
Remember that opening for Jill in her apartment, well that was the replacement for that image
The scary thing about him applies to real life, many people in power abuse that power, some a hell of a lot more than him.
That's why you dont give power to people who want power, you give it to somenody who doesnt want it so that they are too afraid to abuse it.
Irons was something else.....
Yeah.....he was a nutcase
Agreed LOL
Original Irons is the best. I like how they have Irons his own place in remake, but he only acts like an asshole. So take in check if remake is the first one you beat (which it was for me), you basically don’t get much of his true evil side in it (even with the file, it’s very basic and many people don’t read the files). But when I played and beat RE2 original, I was really shocked at how bad they did him. He was crazy and evil rather than a asshole who didn’t bad things.
He was more evil than most of the monsters and he didn’t have to be likable like Albert, instead being a terrible person. And he only needed one game to leave a mark. Literally a great evil character.
Merry Christmas

I think You're Correct LOL. Also Merry Christmas and hope you have a Great one!!!!
It's a shame we don't get to kill Irons.
I can imagine Mr x beating Irons in a brutal way.
Disappointed that in the remake or RE2 they didn't turn the Sherry Birkin section into a Home Alone style rigamarole.
Also merry Christmas to all.
Every time he gets hit you hear a comical bonk or thunk sound.
best villain in resident evil 2 chief irons👏
Sherry dad was pretty creepy too
I prefer a licker over him
If Chief Irons goes to jail for the crimes that he did, he won’t be police chief anymore.
I think the Irons we got is more memorable than the original good injured version of him they planned.
I Agree that this version was much more memorable due to all the Crazy Antics he's done.
This video has pointed out something to me I never realised before, and something of a minor plot hole.
Why doesn't Irons kill Claire the moment he sees her? Especially in the original. He's gone mad and is literally hunting down survivors in the RPD to kill them. What is it about Claire when he sees her, in his office, just after he's literally killed someone else, he's suddenly all "I'm sorry"?
Even in the remake. He's after Sherry and her pendant. Claire means nothing to him. Why doesn't he just shoot her and take Sherry? Given his character and current state of mind it's unusual he would simply have her tied up instead of just killing her.
In a way Brian irons helped in raccoon city getting destroyed because if he wasn’t corrupted by umbrella he could of stopped them early.
Very true, he could've done something to stop the craziness at Raccoon City, but as we know, Chief Irons was pure Evil

Chief Irons one of the worst RE villains alongside Ozwell W. Spencer and Osmund Saddler
Chief iron creeps me out , he gives me pedophile ,rapist ,serial killer vibes 😳

Irons is the scaiewst kind of monster.
One so seemingly mundane. That you could legitmately run into someone derranged. A monster in the shape of a human being that prays on life. And is just beyond unsettling. That and if guven time. He would be one of those serial killers you hear about. One of those gruesome ones that kept "Trophies."
Chief Irons scared me from the jump in the original, remake 2 it felt like claire could whoop his fat ass with her hands tied behind her back 🤣
can you please do a William vs video?
THIS IS WHAT TRUE EVIL LOOKS LIKE.
u might say wesker nicolai etd ..but no.they are just greedy individuals but not evil
Chief Irons however is True evil.Because a he is so ordinary. nothing special about him.And because the acts he comits.
He kinda reminds me of actor Brion James. Wonder if the similar name is a reference
What's sad is Brian Irons is basically just like the former long-time sheriff in my area, except not quite as bad. At least on top of everything else, Irons wasn't a pedophile (that we know of.)
I definitely prefer the RE 2 remake version of Irons, his files from the original game match more with the remake version. the original Irons sounds so cartoonishly evil that I can't take him seriously.
Honestly, the dude sounds a heckuva lot like Wes Johnson of Oblivion and Fallout fame, so I was surprised that it wasn’t Wes who voiced him in the 90s original. 😂
That and he talks what to much about what is going on in the town of raccoon city....
Terrifying part of resident evil 2 remake
3:38 maybe he meant in a different way? ok that sounded just as bad i meant maybe he was about to make her a hearty meal? its christmas day im trying to see the best in all people (its just that Humans may it way too hard)
From the looks of things in that situation I think he was leaning more on the Negative side of things
I thought he got burst thru as a failed G host. This show an alternate scene or something.
Chief Irons is like so many depraved serial killers like Ted Bundy, Dahmer, Ed Gein, Richard Ramirez, John Wayne Gacy, and Butcher Baker. So, it feels like his murders follow a few of them.
Chief irons is the most disgraceful police chief and honestly I don’t think he should’ve ever Police chief especially with all the actions he’s done
No weaker. No Nicolai. Is as evil as this guy
They made him a good guy in the movie lol
He sounds like barney
OG RE2 (98’) irons is better than RE2makes irons. “EVERYBODY’S GONNA DIE!” So creepy.

Chief Irons = John Wayne Gacy
They really fluffed the intrigue with Irons in the remake. Very disappointing.
This is an era of simps, wimps, and chumps. Can't even fart in a game without some lame dork getting offended
acab lmao
They ruined it with this crappy modern Chief irons
Chief Irons was meant to be an elegant, well spoken, well dressed, sharp clean cut, in shape character like the original was meant to be.
In the remake they gave us the typical fat diabetic everyday american.
Capcoms worst mistake was to desperately imitate modern day mediocre lifestyle instead of staying true to the Japanese way of reinterpreting characters thru original character personalities that stand out.
