14:20 Annette developed the same paranoia as her husband and believed all the Raccoon City survivors were spies Umbrella had sent in to steal the G-Virus but the only one she was right about was Ada.
Poor Sherry. Both her presents were lunatics suffering paranoid delusions. By some miracle she turned out sane, even after all the years of experiments performed on her.
William Birkin is a bit of an intriguing figure. His only "close" friend being Albert Wesker and creating G the way that he did. You could say he became his life's work so to speak.
He didn’t seem to have evil intent in most of his instances- very devoted to his in all honesty amazing work. In resident evil 2 he seemed pretty clear, until resident evil 0 and the first game remake added to him. Note they added to him after resident evil code Veronica- which is when they begun to build upon and add to their fan favorite villains. He got the same treatment as Wesker. He’s also been a boss in the umbrella chronicles, and shown in resident evil Outbreak. In resident evil 2 remake they actually kept him alive a bit more than in resident evil 2 classic- albeit he gets less screen time and interaction with the player sadly. He was very connected to the Raccoon city incident and debatably the first victim of it.
I love how OG Birkin was like “come and get it” but remake Birkin is like “I’m not letting you take my toys! They’re MINE!” Either way he goes from b*tch to butch as soon the G virus is implanted.
William Birkin creator of the G-Virus and main antagonist of Resident Evil 2, Birkin had quite the life as an Umbrella scientist and researcher, he has done many horrible things before even creating the G-Virus, he helped create the B.O.W. know as Hunter, had a fierce rivalry with Alexia Ashford who was only 10 when she joined Umbrella as an executive chief researcher, both Birkin and Wesker helped the USS assassinate Dr. James Marcus, head of the umbrella research center and creator of the T-Virus and stole his research and took credit for it, he experimented on Lisa Trevor daughter of George Trevor, creator of the Spencer mansion for nearly 30 years and how she continued to live, until he injected the NE alpha parasite into her to see what it would do, her body killed the parasite and absorbed it's DNA into her own, this is what would become an early prototype of what would become the G-Virus, this all happens before Resident Evil 0 1 3 and 2 even start, thank you Hey DeVuH for bringing up a great Resident Evil villain 👍
William's easily one of my favorite villains. Karma for Lisa Trevor, indeed. I wish he wasn't so underrated, because he sets up most of the overarching plot. He's definitely not what I call a tragic villain, but Sherry went through a lot of shit because of both her parents. That's a suffering I imagine which would break most people.
It's kinda ironic that he's upset about his life's work getting stolen from him, when he, himself, was involved in the assassination of his former mentor and stole his work.
6:54 Since going by RE6 Sherry found out about her dad being the G-Virus monster that was stalking and later infected her she probably found out about her dad and Wesker's experimentation on Lisa and was sickened by it.
Karma really hit William Birkin hard. Not only did he experienced a similar fate by being gunned down like Marcus was by Umbrella troops and started a new pandemic in his rampage, but he became a similar misshapen and miserable creature like Lisa Trevor was.
As someone who just became a fan of this series because of Village this was very interesting. After Village I decided to go look at both the originals and remakes of RE 2 and 3 because I remember my older brother used to play them on the Gamecube when I was a kid but I was too scared to care about the story in the games. And I thought Mother Miranda and Lady D were bad.
Glad that you got into the series recently, there is so much info and lore in all these games that it may be overwhelming at times. Anyway thank you so much for watching!!!
Lisa could have been the "Alice" of the games. The only human to bond successfully with the viruses inside her. Sadly she was too young and never once thought "maybe I should use this new strength to kill these guys and escape"
ILove these videos. I Love the story, history and lore of resident Evil. I grew up playing them. And I knew the story from playing them back then. But I didn't do much file searching. Lol. So watching your videos has taught me so much about the whole Lore behind Resident Evil. Great video man, keep 'em coming.
William Birkin will always be my favorite boss in video games overall. Re2 was the first game I beat on my own with no help. Without a memory card because I didn't have one lol.
@@jaysherman2615 lol my parents were cartridge players up until then. NES, SNES, N64, and Gameboy. They (and by extention me) hadn't quit grasped the whole external save device. It wasn't until I had to KEEP unlocking the other characters in Twisted Metal 3 and 4, that I realized I need one of these "memory card". I know past me seems stupid, but I was only 6 or 7 and never needed one before then so.
I'd love an actual Netflix or Amazon Prime Resident Evil series diving into these backstories with a compelling plot and character arcs but I doubt it will ever come to fruition.
At first time when we played the game when we were young we thought the name of the game about zombies we kill, but after we grownup we realized that why they call it Resident Evil game , it's not about the zombies (Victims) it's all about evils humans who made this chaos for immortality and greatness and repetition! When re5 came out and explained wesker's origins that he was part of science project to artificially create humans with superior intelligence and special antibody to resist viruses that he then passed on to his son jake I thought of William birkin in the same way cause that would explain why William was a genius at young age and why the g virus took a longer time transforming him into the monstrosity he became at the end of re2. In the film degeneration curtis transform in a monster almost right away but William took much longer this made me think he to possessed the antibody then passed it onto his daughter sherry which would explain her obtaining her special regeneration power but sadly none of this was ever explored in the storyline so we may never know.
Unlike Marcus who equally trusted wesker, Birkin, queen leech (both of them except his own creation betrayed him) so look like he took on notes to only trust his virus
In the original william knocked a test tube off the table Which caused hunk and his men to shoot him in the remake william pulled a gun on them. I kinda wished they kept the original way he got shot
Also when he gets shot for knocking off the sample, the operatives just comment to stop shooting because "you might hit the sample". Bringing Birkin in alive is no priority in the original.
I also really don't like the way the remake handled Ada's "death" in the original you can examine her gun and tell she had no intention of ever shooting Leon you cant technically find this out in the remake. also I don't like how Leon just drops the G virus sample. in the original he sees just how much death and destruction it has caused around him and throws it in anger. i think this scene was handled much better in the original as well.
@@randomtask155 I think Ada's appearance and acting in the remake scene for her death are much better, but I agree about the gun and Leon... though I think this is a more realistic reaction. I would think disciplined gunman wouldn't just shoot because of a dropped test tube I think him pulling a gun and getting shot made more sense if he had to get shot

That's true, I think he was Jealous of the fact that a Younger and much smarter person came into Umbrella and took the spotlight from him in some capacity.
Great vid, great villain. Tho I can't help but notice how they made him a lot less interesting in RE2make. The original Birkin was a cold, calculated, brilliant scientist who still had a human side - whilst buried in his work, had a wife and daughter, both seemed to deeply care for him. I feel like even the true purpose of his life's work - G-virus, was somehow retconned - it was supposed to turn humans into immortal superbeings. If the conversion failed, however, it would result in mutating into mindless, instinct-driven monsters. So it made much more sense for him to inject it when fatally wounded, he took a desperate gamble and lost his humanity when it failed. In the RE2make, he does only it to exact revenge, not giving a damn about the consequences for his family or the world for that matter. Because hey, G is his creation.
Sorry this is super late reply looking at your original comments date but that’s been part of my issue with the remakes. For every character they flesh out to make a much more interesting character, there are others that left a strong impression in the past that weren’t as interesting in the remake. I wish it was more consistent, they can build up characters while not reducing from others. But I’ve accepted that’s expected with the remakes, and despite this I still enjoy them as another option
I feel bad for William birkin in a way as he trying to prevent his experiments from his daughter knowing that umbrella will turn against him . G1 you can clearly see that he's trying to fight it by saying his daughter name and part of his want revenge for his work G2 you can witness his body taking over from the virus due to his rage all he wants is to destroy . G3 but then he's clearly lost his mind with nothing but hate and rage . G4 then he reach to a point that he's not himself anymore only a weapon to destroy . G5 and now he's a abomination of nightmare that he can't see his way knowing that his main target is sherry because it's all in his mind he will stop at nothing.
I loved the breakdown of stages you did for Birkin, and yes G1 he was still with it but trying to fight back against the G instinct though ultimately in the end he would lose complete control.
@@HeYDeVuH that's the reason why he inject himself with the virus not to protect his work, but to prevent his daughter by not making the same mistake he made . It's really sad seeing sherry witnessing the nightmare that her dad has become and yet she continued to fight for his freedom knowing that the virus is taking over him . Even tho he give sherry a little dose of the virus in her , I don't think he wants to kill her but (I really don't want to say this but it is in the book) he see her as a breathing tool . That's something I can't understand but it was in dark side chronicles story because he keep saying sherry name all the time
@@maganchouhan3530 Marcus himself was an elitist asshole who used his own employees as test subjects. And also, it was Spencer who called the shot at assassinating Marcus, not William nor Wesker. William and Wesker were only the ones who carried out the order.
"G is my creation" He says that cause he just got shot down and the G-Virus, his life's work and what turns him into a monster, was stolen from him. This is the central plot to RE2's story.
@@Evin07 kind astuid cause all he did was inject Lisa with nemesis alpha parasite than take her blood, mix it with t epsilon, both of those things had no relation to him

How Sherry Birkin lost her parents reminds me of Zoe Baker losing her parents in RE7. Both their fathers were infected by some mutagenic pathogen. The main difference was their mothers. Annette didn’t get infected by the G-Virus, while Marguerite got infected with the Mutamycete, along with Jack. So, overall, Sherry’s and Zoe’s stories have some similarities, but are still quite different.
Hey Devuh I thank you for hearing me Loud and clear. I appreciate you listening to your fans. I know you are building up to Albert Wesker eventually but in the meantime is there anyway possible you can talk about Evelyn and Lucas Baker the true main antagonist of Resident Evil 7 I believe that Lucas Baker was a sociopath who let his family die and become slaves to the mold but all this time he was a bad person even before being injected with the mold
I have to admit I DO feel partly sorry for William despite the fact that he used his talents for the forces of evil; nobody should have to do what he did. It just goes to show that big-time corporations feel that even the most gifted people are nothing more than expendable pawns on their life-sized chessboard and can be easily captured; he was doomed the moment he was hired by those ass holes.
@@georgemercer402 William himself was a evil as***le too, he did unthinkables to Lisa Trevor not caring about her family and only g virus, he wasn't doomed to be killed the second he joined umbrella
@@georgemercer402 if he didn't kiled Marcus, he would have became the overseer of umbrella and assassinate Spencer, than Birkin could have countinued his research peacefully as marcus saw Birkin, wesker as his sons
wasnt NEST frozen over? i remember the underground lab the b.o.w’s broke out killing all the researchers and one of them with no hope left had pulled a lever that bought temps down to below 0 thus freezing everything over right in their tracks
In a sense Birkin succeeded and saved his daughter in later years. Wen sherry was seriously injured but because sherry bonded with the G virus on a cellular level it saved her life
Thank You so much and yes it was intentional, I wanted to give the video an old VHS type of feel with that constant bar glitch and the overall grainy look.
William birkin and his wife and Annette in my personal opinion I feel like they did not give a damn about Sherry at all they cared more about was there research and that's why both of them got killed even though it's sad they should have never worked for a company like umbrella even though William birkin gave Sherry regenerative capabilities throughout her life
That's a great point, Annette even mentioned that their marriage was more on their work than between themselves. Though your last point was true, the benefits that Sherry has now is great on her part
Oh and don't feel bad about Marcus. He might have played the confused old man but he was just as sick as the rest of them. You know and the video game actually seeing the basement where there is a literal torture chamber so disgusting and barbaric that even the executioners. And torture kings with literally look at Marcus and tell him to tone it down especially when he was putting children into such wonderful things like the iron maiden the. Rack waterboard them LA bottor boarded them about a mice them tortured them mutilated them cut their body parts apart apart apart and see how long it. Took to reheal kill their parents in front of them and literally killed a 8 month old baby in front of her brother Kristen. See what he will react to
I actually felt sorry for william till I found out what he was and had done bear in mind I didn't know resident evil at the time some odd reason saw re2 before the first re so I thought he was a prisoner they forced to make the virus and killed to silence it wasn't till 0 that I realized my mistake

That's something I can't understand but it was in dark side chronicles story because he keep saying sherry name all the time
He should have left umbrella when wesker warned him or he shouldn't have killed Marcus cuase that would have prevented umbrella turning on him
@@maganchouhan3530 Marcus himself was an elitist asshole who used his own employees as test subjects. And also, it was Spencer who called the shot at assassinating Marcus, not William nor Wesker. William and Wesker were only the ones who carried out the order.
Given it came from Lisa Trevor, it makes sense that he said "she's my creation" after injecting himself with the virus.
"G is my creation"
He says that cause he just got shot down and the G-Virus, his life's work and what turns him into a monster, was stolen from him. This is the central plot to RE2's story.
@@Evin07 kind astuid cause all he did was inject Lisa with nemesis alpha parasite than take her blood, mix it with t epsilon, both of those things had no relation to him
*RIP Trevor family and William Birkin*
That's true, it was a sad storyline that happened to their family
Great series buddy keep it up I love the resident evil content. Maybe do every character good and evil monsters Atwell make a Playlist id download ot and watch it all the time
William birkin"I'm not handing over anything" me"William...you do know they have got guns right...that can kill you...just putting that out there"
Great video; the lore is awesome! 👍👍👍😁
LOLLL .. DeVuH using swear words will be the funniest thing on youtube 😭💯
This is so much better than the movies
Thank You so much and happy to hear that you enjoyed the video
9:32 G IS MY CREATION!
9:34 *FARTS* 😆🤣
Those G Burritos 🌯 I'm right?
"HEY EVERYBODY IT'S ME, WILLY BLUMPKIN!!! WANNA CHECK OUT MY G... SPOT?!
He was angry because nobody called him DOCTOR.
😂
wesker & birkin perfect villains together👏 if only the new movie dive deep into birkin life workin with umbrella miss chance to explain that
You leaving out the part where he is using the children in the Raccoon city orphanage as test subjects.
Imagine what a monster Sherry would become if the implantation was successful...
She wouldn't become a monster, she would give birth to a monster
Well said, he could have used his expertise on doing good instead of creating the G virus. Imagine if that would have spread like the T virus
@@HeYDeVuH If that was the case, the apocalypse would be on like Donkey Kong
@@georgemercer402 William himself was a evil as***le too, he did unthinkables to Lisa Trevor not caring about her family and only g virus, he wasn't doomed to be killed the second he joined umbrella
@@georgemercer402 the only reason he died was becuase he kiled his old mentor who trusted him, cared for him like a son
@@georgemercer402 if he didn't kiled Marcus, he would have became the overseer of umbrella and assassinate Spencer, than Birkin could have countinued his research peacefully as marcus saw Birkin, wesker as his sons
There's one more point... the used orphans taken from chief Irons for his experiments.
Oh wow that's so sad and sick of them smh
I can very easily see Aaron Eckhart playing Birkin.
I know he isn’t necessarily evil, but you should do a video on HUNK
William vs Albert Wesker, who would win?
Wesker
I would say RE5 Wesker would Win
"G is my creation"
Could you do an “Explaining Evil” videos about the other founders of Umbrella, James Marcus and Edward Ashford?
Dr. Birkin = Prof. Quirrell
Wesker = Voldemort
wasnt NEST frozen over? i remember the underground lab the b.o.w’s broke out killing all the researchers and one of them with no hope left had pulled a lever that bought temps down to below 0 thus freezing everything over right in their tracks
William Birkin is the goat
In a sense Birkin succeeded and saved his daughter in later years. Wen sherry was seriously injured but because sherry bonded with the G virus on a cellular level it saved her life
Do a video about resident evil Outbreak series.
Great video . But the bar constantly going down the screen is quite off putting. Was that deliberate?
Thank You so much and yes it was intentional, I wanted to give the video an old VHS type of feel with that constant bar glitch and the overall grainy look.
@@HeYDeVuH ah fair enough I see. Well I love these type of videos. Keep up the great work. Who is next? Or will I just need to wait and see 👀
a lot of things about William really pissed me off and I hated him for the evil things he did, especially to Lisa.
HeY DeVuH, more Hunk lore please, thank you kindly. 🙏🙏🙏
On it!
@@HeYDeVuH I believe you're also Filipino right? I am very proud 😊🙏
@@HeYDeVuH yeah pretty much
Oh and don't feel bad about Marcus. See what he will react to
Awesome vids like the others RE videos you've made. Please make his friend Albert Wesker
Consider it done. Thank You so much for watching
@@HeYDeVuH that's so great ! Love your channel a lot
Here is the biggest question I have. Was Wesker best man at his wedding?
I would like to watch a video like this about Dutch form rdr series
Doesn't matter if the video is on 4k, this fuzzy filter makes my eyes bleed and scream.
Sorry I'll keep that in mind for the future videos
I actually felt sorry for william till I found out what he was and had done bear in mind I didn't know resident evil at the time some odd reason saw re2 before the first re so I thought he was a prisoner they forced to make the virus and killed to silence it wasn't till 0 that I realized my mistake
Comman mistakes that re fans make but you atleast accept that you were wrong unlike some people who just says "everyone deserves a second chance" and not accept that they were wrong, even tho birkins got many warnings
✨ Nice 😇👍
G is my CREATION......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then i create the P-virus, it turns everybody infected into a pimp and they slap the fuck out of your G-virus mutants.
Nice video HeY DeVuH.
Residents evil 9 or 10 Roman numerals :William. Next Rose fight it...
Anyone else getting some kind of screen tearing in this video moving from top to bottom ?
I added the effect to give an old VHS style look. Though I'll be removing from future videos
@@HeYDeVuH OH! NOW I UNDERSTAND! Thanks for clearing that up!
@@arisurec No worries, thank you for still watching
@@HeYDeVuH Of course! Your content is soooo good for Resident Evil fans and new people entering the fandom looking to learn the history and lore of the franchise.
i think mr x survived what william did to him due to him showing up in leons scenario.
There are 6 Mr x in racoon city, the one attacked by William died, that was a diffrent Mr x
i love the video but I really don't like the effect that you used with the horizontal thing going down from top to the bottom. It's annoying and ruin the experience you can't concentrate on the video since it's always getting cut and deformed, I had to just have the audio and not watch it :/ * I still liked the video
Starsssss
i just watched the movie. yeeaah I'm mad.
Yes it sucks
I have mixed feeling as well. Funny That I posted this video and then watching William in the Movie, it made me face palm a couple of times.
@@HeYDeVuH i was THIS close to going full karen and demanding a refund. SERIOUSLY, they even fucked up annette's character!! even the paul w.s. Anderson ones didn't do them THIS dirty

Way better origin layout than RE Welcome to Racc……..
Thank You so much
the old r2 William look way better the new one look more like a coward
I love these vids except for the random repeated jump cuts to the same joke lmao
I'll keep it changing then so it won't be to repetitive.
I know I'm not the first to ask this but why does William and Leon literally look like twins?? Like seriously wtf is up with that?
Maybe it was Umbrella's brain washing that made him evil.
Umbrella never brainwashed it's employees
@@maganchouhan3530 Actually it does. Hell, the Umbrella Training Facility is made specifically for that purpose. Even though Umbrella is a corporation, it operates more like a cult.
@@maganchouhan3530propaganda brainwashing
William from the original feel better he look more confident on what he was trying to do . Remake feels more coward and weak.
Helena - "they kill eachother?"
Leon - "that's what we thought the 1st time!"
Also I thought it was Wesker that caused the death of Birkin & not Umbrella
Wesker and Birkin were bestfriendsy wesker even warned him to eave umbrella
Une vie dédiée à la création
A la connaissance et à la reconnaissance.
Une vie dirigée par la passion,
Sans jamais compter sur la chance.
Cette œuvre qu'on a cherché à me dérober,
