      Spencer ranks at the very top of the characters since without him, none of the events take place. The man's twisted legacy of pain, suffering and death in the Resident Evil universe brought about by his psychopathic ambitions and delusions of godhood is on par with Palpatine's in the Star Wars universe.
      Hopefully you will cover Nicholai Ginovaef next, since he's still canonically alive and is the only antagonist in the history of RE to get away 100% scot free after outsmarting the heroes and villains both without even needing a mystery virus to use on himself to do it. We also know he was at least partly responsible for the proliferation of viral data in the Black Market during and after Umbrella's fall. He's a fascinating character who I always hoped there'd be more about, maybe with Carlos trying to track him down since Nicholai was effectively to Carlos what Wesker was to Chris.

      @@sherif956 I definitely did want to have the option to kill Spencer myself in game after all the misery he caused, but on another level I think it is more true to his character that he never took a viral or parasitic dose himself.
      The reason for this is Spencer wanted to be absolutely in control, he didn't want to be subject to anything and he realized that each of the viruses had two effects- namely either a highly unstable and fatal reaction or it would effect the mind. Both of these would have been in direct opposition to his ultimate goal.
      We see the wisdom of this in how every single person who took or was given the various viruses had unwanted side effects or lost themselves eventually-yes even Wesker as we saw his mental state devolve from coldly calculating and pragmatic before his resurrection to deranged megalomaniac with obsessive tendencies after that eventually got him killed.
      Spencer was smart enough to realize the viruses weren't perfected yet and he'd only take one once it was perfect.

      Mold in Weker’s hands would be more preferable than Uroboros. At least with the mold, the Megamycete is still the core controlling everything and possessing the consciousness of its victims, so even death means your consciousness lives on with the others who have been infected. Uroboros would just be a series of hellish tentacle-laden biomasses absorbing anything and everything while a few people are able to essentially remain immortal through being infected.

    I think Spencer knew better than to stay in the village, since the Four Great Families make it clear that they are subordinate to Miranda, whether they like it or not. Had he stayed, he would have eventually been at odds with her. Two people can't wear the same crown and Spencer would never agree to serve another. He was far more successful than Miranda ever was anyway and his legacy is so much more omnipresent than Miranda's Mold with her legacy being restricted to one small village and the incident with the Baker family before being wiped off the earth. Spencer's legacy however erased five major cities across the globe, created a viral black market arms race and led to the deaths of over eight million people with no end in sight. Miranda was nothing next to him.

      @HeYDeVuH  3 года назад +88

    • @thunderstudent
      @thunderstudent 3 года назад +19

      @@HeYDeVuH It should also be noted for that even if he had stayed, he would have likely pursued the progenitor virus because the mold and cadou weren’t efficient enough for his plans of forcing human evolution. If he had gone back to Miranda after the destruction of raccoon city he might have attempted to use the mold with the T-virus to negate the worst qualities of both and enhance their best ones. Eveline would have been yet another bow in the catalog of the umbrella corporation.
      It’s ironic that each one of them had what the other desired but they never reached out to each other. Miranda could have given Spenser the immortality he craved and in return he could have created the perfect vessel for Eva with his vast resources, using his eugenics program. God only knows what horrors would have been unleashed if they had formed an alliance with each other let alone with Osmond Saddler of the Los Illuminados. One that would no doubt end in treachery from at least one of them if not all of them.

    The way I view it, He let Wesker know where he was because he either foolishly believed Wesker would help him, or more likely knowing his chance for immortality now gone, wanted to die at the hands of his own creation in a death that he had control over. As for the Mother Miranda stuff. Bear in mind that the the mold virus didn't always bear fruit. The four lords were the most successful of the experiments. Perhaps in his short time with her he saw what happens to those who aren't compatible with the codau and feared that he would become a shambling monster such as the lycans. It's probably the same reason why in his own desperation he didn't even consider prolonging his own life with the viruses he himself had access to, they would destroy his mind.

    As much as I like the callback to Ozzy being a former student of Miranda, it does bring several issues about. One of which is: If Ozwell wanted to be immortal; studying that aspect of the Megamycete probably would've kept him hearty and hale for a long time. Look at Lady D and Miranda, I'm pretty sure The Duke owes some of his longevity to that as well. The only reasons I can think of for Spencer not capitalizing on it are: 1) Even getting a sample of the Mold would make Spencer beholden to Miranda, something someone with his ego and God complex could never tolerate for long. 2) He was dead set on Virology and Eugenics being the route to humanity's evolution; allowing himself to be dependent on a fungus based solution to aging was repugnant to him. 3) The mutations the Mold induces was too unpredictable; look at the 4 lords for an example of that, or the Baker family. Jack and Lucas probably got the best deal out of their infection, but look what happened to Marguerite. Look what happened to Moreau! 4) the obvious answer: whoever wrote that into the story didn't remember Spencer's words to Wesker before he was murdered; but that's an unsatisfying answer.

    I'm surprised Spencer didn't revisit the Mother Miranda and the megamyste, in the end. He knew the mold could retain the consciousness of people and be potentially brought back. Who you think is more successful depends on your point of view. To the people saying we didn't need the retcon, I say why not? Without Miranda, Spencer never even believes one could gain immortality or change humans with an organism. He had to see it to believe it was possible. He wanted to change the world and in a way he did. While Miranda influence was on a much smaller scale. On the other hand, Miranda obtained what he never did: immortality. Played RE Village awhile ago, and it got me thinking: Spencer clearly knew that Miranda was an immortal being, so why didn't he just go back to her to ask for her help, even if it means swallowing his pride, just to obtain/borrow her powers of immortality so he can extend his lifespan to accomplish his own goals?

I get that we do get enemies that are basically zombies but I kind of miss the ol T-virus outbreak in a large city with zombies eating human flesh etc. And I guess we did get a return to that in Resident Evil 6 with the whole zombies in a city but I kind of want to see what would happen if the T-virus made a return and was combined with the new virus's we got to make a whole new batch of zombies in a giant city much like Racoon city of though I would still like to see the zombies doing things like eating human flesh and the stuff we saw them do in Resident Evil 3 Remake because I just love when zombies are legit scary.
    Also as a side note, if I was Spencer I would probably freeze myself in a secure facility because yes, when you freeze your cells explode etc but like, in the RE universe where we have virus that can literally do anything, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a virus that can bring back corpses after being taken out of ice.
